I have a Netgear Orbi system running with 3 Orbis places strategically around my house. When I test my WiFi it’s always around 120 MBPS download and 20-25MBPS upload. Would it make sense to buy a Sonos Boost and change the Sonos speakers into a mesh network being that I already have such a high rate of data transfer. I have 7 sono’s One’s scattered around the house and a Sonos Beam and subwoofer (which I don’t know if the sub woofer ends up being part of the mesh in sonosnet) Would Sonosnet mesh even be able to compete with the speeds of the Orbi? Would having a dedicated mesh really be helpful being that I already have a mesh. Would it effect performance in any way? Or would I spend $99 for nothing , or even maybe lessened performance than I’m getting now? My Orbi is just used for Hulu and iPhone browsing..so I’m not really doing anything that requires the power I even have already.

I want to connect outdoor speakers to Sonos and am working with an uncommon set-up. I have a connect:amp inside the house connected to underwater speakers to the outside pool (let's call that C:A1). I also have a cat5 feed available from where the C:A1 unit is to a casita in the yard (I use it to extend wifi to the yard). I am adding outdoor speakers and my current options are: 1) run the outdoor speaker back to C:A1. I don't love that option for practical reasons to do with my yard + I am not even sure that C:A1 can handle both pool and outdoor speakers 2) buy a Connect:Amp (let's call that C:A2), place it in the casita and connect it to C:A1 via cat5, then run the outdoor speakers to C:A2. Since I don't need to control the pool and outside speakers independently, option 2) is a bit more than I need. Is there an option where I can buy a cheaper unit (Sonos or other) that can connect to C:A1 via cat5, and would only be used to power the outdoor speakers and that I can s

Hi guise, we have a strange problem here. We’ve installed 3 sonos connect inside a boat, they play all individually and in a group of two, but When we group them all 3 togheter...only one play. To play sound sems to be the first assigned. In the sonos app sems the group is playing notmally, but in the reality only one/the first sonos play sounds. All is updated to yesterday. The second question is, do you know the Ethernet port used for Crestron comunications? Thanks!

I have a connect amp powering two smallish Yamaha stereo pool speakers. The problem is they are about 20ft apart and it gets rather annoying when some tracks have certain audio parts mixed to only play out of the left channel speaker or only the right. If i bridge the wires at the back of the amp to send both L and R signals to both speakers (effectively driving them as mono) will it destroy the amp/speakers?

I want to run 3 pairs of speakers from my Connect Amp (2 pairs are 8 ohm, 1 is 16 ohm), and therefore believe I need to use a speaker selector switch to do this. I know this subject has been brought up many times but I'd really like to put this to bed once and for all. I totally understand why delay exists between bonded Sonos elements and 3rd Party components either line-in or line out via Connect. A DJ cannot expect his Pioneer Mixer to output to a Connect, back into the Sonos loop and come out of the speakers without delay - get it! My use case is - I have an open plan Front Room and Connecting Dining Room. Sonos in the Dining Room and a Connect Driving an AV Amp in the Front Room. Group the Dining Room + Front Room and the delay ranges from an echo in PURE DIRECT mode to a double beat when DSP Stereo processing is active. Digital Coax, Optical, RCA, different amps with or without DSP processing may have varying results, but it will never cure the problem. What I can't understand is why Sonos cannot build a user definable delay into the controller to push back the whole Sonos loop to come in-line with the audible output from spea

Hi, Is there any chance Sonos is thinking of upgrading the app/speakers so that you can use your speaker settings differently at any given moment? For instance: in my living-room I have a hometeatre-setup (play bar,sub and two Sonos one) but I sometimes want to listen to music in stereo with just my Ones. Can this be done - without the need to configurate the speakers each time?? Rob

Hi I am wondering whether I can buy a Sonos Connect and connect it to my Harman Kardon soundbar + bluetooth sub and it will work with my sonos speakers (via a RCA Y-cable - using the aux in on the soundbar)? And must the Sonos Connect be cabled to the internet or can it work wireless (wift)?

I'm in the midst of creating a new large open-plan living/dining kitchen space in my house and would like to wall mount my SONOS speakers high up near the ceiling as part of the project. I have two questions. Firstly, I've seen some discussion suggesting that SONOS speakers aren't great when mounted at near ceiling height. Is this the case and if so, can it be 'made to work' e.g. by tilting speakers downwards? Second question (a two parter!) is, the room I'm creating is slightly 'L' shaped (see image below) and I would love some advice on placement and if my existing Play:1's will suffice, or if I should consider moving to something bigger? Note the TV will be on the wall facing the sofa and will have the Playbar mounted underneath. I'm looking to get good all-round sound and had initially thought about the four locations circled on the drawing. Hey, have a full home set up (playbar + sub, 1, 3, 5) plus record player as a line in input through a preamp and then into a connect. Recently the quality of sound from records has significantly diminished. It sort of sounds like the sound is muffled, almost like it’s under water. It’s like there’s far too much bass, but even when I use the room settings and turn treble up and bass way down it’s still average. It seems to have happened after we moved house recently but it also coincided with a sonos Update so not really sure what the root cause could be. But playing the same music through Spotify sounds far better than vinyl. Diagnostics number 1676025177

I've searched, and current info on this subject is a little scant. I'm looking for a replacement for my soon-to-be-EOL Airport Network, and am taking a long look at Ubiquiti Amplifi. Should I expect it to play well with my Sonos (I have about 15 zones, about half-half wired and wireless)? Anything I should be watchful for? TiA...

Two problems: 1) CROSSFADE > I always want my Spotify music to crossfade. However, every time I close and reopen Sonos or Spotify app, I have to re-enable crossfade. Is there something I'm missing to get this setting to stick? 2) ROOM GROUPS > I just picked up a used Play5 (S5 Gen 1) and added it to my stereo pair Play 1s in my den. I added the Play5 as a separate room (Family Room) because I wanted to maintain the Play1's separately as a stereo pair under "Den" (they are in the same room however). In order to get the three to play together, I've grouped them. So now I have "Family Room + 1" when I play music or line-in from the TV. However, I find that when I close and reopen the Sonos app, the room groups get reset to individual rooms. Is is possible to save a room grouping so that Sonos will remember and default to it until I change it?

Hi - can I force a ‘Update Music Library’ request via HTTP command? I want to create a script on my server so when I add songs to my library folder it will send a request to Sonos to update the library. Thanks

backstory: -- i have a Sonos Playbase -- i have a firewall server box with 3 network cards: WAN, LAN, IOT -- i have a LAN subnet which is my desktop, laptop, and file server box. (macOS) -- i also have an IOT subnet which is stuff like Alexa, home automation, PS4, TV, and my Sonos. -- IOT cannot even see the LAN computers -- however, LAN can connect and ping/ssh/etc into any of the IOT as long as the connection originates on the LAN side. the basic issue is that i cannot get Sonos app, or Spotify app, (or the iOS Sonos app) on the LAN side to find my Playbase on IOT subnet. the Playbase has a static IP and i can ping it just fine from the LAN side. and my Echo can see the Playbase on the IOT side fine. (and i can play from Echo from Spotify on the Playbase) how do i get the Sonos app to connect to my Playbase on a different subnet? is there a port forward i can setup? can i emulate a Sonos device (in linux) on my LAN that forwards to IOT?

I have been using Play 1 and Playbar for years but recently bought a house that has 8ohm Speakercraft speakers ceiling speakers in every room. . Being hooked on Sonos I want to be able to have the same control over these speakers. They are all connected to an existing amp and have volume controllers in each room. The challenge I have is the wiring coming from the amp is 4-wire so I am not sure how to connect it to Connect. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, Our home has wired ceiling speakers in separate rooms on the main floor. Each rooms speaker can be turned on or off individually via a wall control dial. There are also two speakers (no ceiling, but actual mounted speakers) on our screened porch - they are part of this same system. When we moved, I brought three Play:1 speakers with me. A friend's genius son connected everything through a Sonos Connect - the result being I can stream Sonos through both the hardwired speakers, and the three Play:One speakers - or choose one or the other. I don't know much about the wired setup - there's a bunch of wires and a receiver (?) in a utility closet under the stairs. Again, the genius kid set it up. What I want to do now is somehow add in a soundbar for our TV. I'd like the soundbar to work with our ceiling speakers. The TV is nowhere near the utility closet with all of the wires and receiver. Hi, I have received the new beam and is now connected to the TV, Samsung 6 series, and all works great. The issue starts after turning the TV off. Come back a couple of hours later, turn TV on and no sound. TV knows it’s still connected to external device, but the beam has decided to turn off its source input. I have to open the app again and select TV. This is a bit of a pain especially for visitors who don’t have the app on their phone. Is there a way to maintain the selected source on the beam. I'm still debugging this but wondered if anyone else has come across it. My Beam is all installed via WiFi and I'm very happy with it. However I thought I'd hard wire it to my network as I have fixed connections to most of the permanently connected devices. Unfortunately (tried 4 times now) when I connect a network cable after a few seconds all my home network dies. Symptoms from another PC is that I can no longer ping the gateway (192.168.0.1) any more. Unplug the Beam and it recovers. Network is Virgin Media SuperHub -> TP-Link T2600G switch -> devices. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks - David

Why is Sonos restricted to connecting on the 2.4 Mhz band? I understand the narrow bandwidth (20-40 Mhz) conceptually prevents interference and provides longer range transmission (I'm getting dropouts from time to time), but that is not an issue on the 5 Mhz band for me. I have an Asus AC3100 router which has excellent range and a Docsis 3.1 modem. Getting speeds of 460-470 Mbps down/13-14 Mbps up @ 5 Mhz and 140 Mbps down/12 Mbps up @ 2.4 Mhz. Thoughts?

I suspect this isn't feasible, but I have a connect:amp with a pair of polk outdoor speakers being driven off of it. They sound great. I also just added a 12" 300w sub that I previously owned into the Sonos system via the sub output on the Connect:AMP. Thing is, it seems like the connect is only able to be a single output device, and there's no way to group the sub output as it's own item (like as part of a home theater). Ideally, I'd like the outdoor speakers to be their own "room" and the sub to be part of the "living room" which also has a pair of Play:1's and soon a Beam soundbar. I'm not seeing anything in the various controller apps indicating this is feasible. Is my best bet to just buy a Connect and use that to drive the subwoofer (still cheaper than buying a sonos Sub when using my existent SUB)? If so, that's annoying. Also, I read on another post that if you have a sub connected to the Connect:AMP it does not send anything

I want to add my sonos, The wifi network is used by my landlord who has his own sonos connected. When I try to add mine, the app asks me to enter the details of his sonos account. How do I enter my own account details and add my own sonos to the network?

My router has icons for each of my Sonos devices. Some of the Sonos devices have Play3, Play5 or SUB icons associated with them, some have a PC or TV icons. I would like all of my Sonos devices to be associated with the proper icon. I am able to map the device to the icon, but I cannot find the icons. Where are these icons stored?
