What to get

Hi - is it possible to get the output from a bose wave 3 radio to sonos? I realise I can use the bose as a sonos speaker using a connect and the 'aux' setting. Looking to get multiroom but don't really want to get rid of it! Would settle for a work around if anyone has one! Thanks in advance for any help

I have pretty much made up my mind to go with either 2 or 4 Definitive Technology AW 6500 outdoor speakers. The plan is to start with 2 and see how it sounds and then add 2 more if needed. These speakers can handle 200 watts each. The impedance is rated at 4-8 Ohms. I have read a few people running 2 and some that are even running 4 of these speakers on a single Sonos Connect:AMP. However, it appears this amp is only rated at 55 watts per channel which seems pretty low for speaker that can handle 200 watts. I spoke with Crutchfield and they recommended using the Sonos Connect with a Yamaha R-S700 stereo receiver that provides 100 watts per channel and only 2 of the speakers. Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated. What would your choose for 2 of these speakers? 1. Sonos Connect:AMP 2. Sonos Connect with a separate stereo receiver? If so, what receiver? 3. Sonos Connect with A/V receiver? If so, what receiver? What would you choose for 4 of these speakers?

How far can I extend my wireless signal using a boost? I have a bridge that I'm thinking of replacing as I can't use my Play5 in the room I want to because it's too far for the wireless signal (about 15 metres in as straight line, but that's through two walls).

Hello. I currently have a "traditional" speaker craft system with 5 different speakercraft zones in my home. My speakercraft amp is an MZC-66. I've used Sonos at a number of other houses and am really impressed with the quality and ease of use. I talked with a few people who seemed to indicate that I could pretty easily convert to Sonos by buying a Sonos amp and attaching it to my MZC-66? And then could easily add Sonos speakers and systems to other rooms as they join the wifi network? True?

I have a few decisions to make, I was thinking of getting a sonos playbar and sub but with issues to Samsung JU series I will stick with my Samsung soundbar setup, unless people can convince me otherwise. I have 5 play 1's I live in a townhome and h have 5 alexa devices. I am able to get a Playbar $384 sub $384 play 3 $164.45 play 5 $219.45 I play 5 would be huge in my area, a play 3 I can totally handle, and I'm just worried about the playbar and sub combo. Any thoughts?

So I'm finally deciding to pick up my first sonos setup! We have quiet a large living room so I would appreciate the sound of a stereo pair. I can't decide between these 2 setups. Will 2 play 5's sound better? The thing is 2 play 1's and a play 5 allow me more to distribute the speakers around the house... can't decide. Maybe I just pick up the 2 play 1's and a play 5 and start saving up for another play 5 . 🙂

In general I'm suspicious of generic sound bar's appropriateness for "music". Interests are: Music is #1, home theater #2. How 'bout 2 Play 5's, but may also need a Play 3 for center?? Just trying to ensure music is good, but, naturally, want ability for theater atmosphere. As an aside, I currently have 4 Play 1's.

I currently have a play 5 that I've been using in a large living room for about 2 months. While I really like it, I often feel it has trouble filling the entire room. Anyway, I recently bought two play 1's (black Friday sale) that I planned on putting in a bedroom and kitchen for the full multi-room experience. However, I think I made the mistake of testing out the two 1's (stereo-paired) in the same room as the 5...the sound was absolutely incredible, a full surround system experience, and now I'm more conflicted than ever on what to do. I moved the 1's into their intended spots in the kitchen and bedroom, and while the multi-room experience is cool, I'm not crazy about how the 1's sound as stand-alone speakers (especially after listening in conjunction with the 5). What's the best approach from here? I don't want to spend that much more money here, but do want that surround sound in the living room back. Should I move the 1's back in the living room and get a 3 for the bedro

Hi all, We have a Play 3 in the back room and I love it. We're now thinking of expanding the system into the main living room (I say "we"; I want to surprise my wife and daughter with it for Christmas). I'm thinking we might get a good sound from two Play:1s acting as a stereo system. However, during weekdays I work from my home office, my daughter's in her room doing her homework, this morning my wife was attending to a lot of emails from the bedroom. So... If I have two Play:1s, how easy is it to set them up as a single stereo system for the weekend and then have them operate as independent one-room individual speakers for the weekdays? I'm sure this is possible, but do we have to reconfigure every time we move them? Or can we just have a "setting a" for "you are a two-speaker system" and a "setting b" for "you are two independent speakers in separate rooms"..? Thanks! Guy

I have a room which is about 9 metres by 4 metres. Should I go for a single Play 5 which has superior sound, or do I go for 2 Play 3s so that I can put them at either side / end of the room to get the benefit of the stereo effect? Thanks in advance.

I have two living room areas with smart TVs. For the upstairs living room I already have a Polk audio sound bar and sub woofer. As of now I think I will need the sonos connect(?)(and if I need this which one?) and a pair of additional sonos play1s. For the basement living room I'd like to get two sets of play 1s and a sonos bar and sub. Do I need a connect down here? I don't really know what I need. But that is what I think I might need. My end goal is to be able to have the system playing sound from the tv, YouTube videos thrown up on the screen from my phone (I have a Roku but anything other than Apple TV let me just throw stuff onto the tv?) and jump back and forth to Spotify with my phone during commercials etc. I think it would be cool to have voice activation capabilities too, google home maybe? Or Alexa? Or maybe neither would work. Let me know what you guys think, any help is appreciated as I'm brand new to sonos systems!

I have 10 speakers in 6 zones, including a Playbar with subwoofer and two rear 3s. Another 5, 3 x 3s, and a paired set of 1s. The Playbar is wired to my router, first floor of 2600 foot on 2 floors and with a lot of concrete. Services such as Sirius, Spotify etc. all work fine. But using line-in on the 5 (to play Audible Audiobooks because missing the long-promised integration has yet to materialize), I get a fair amount of cutouts in grouped speakers. I am fairly furious about the lack of Audible integration being solved, and don't really want to purchase more product. But if a Boost would solve my cutout problem so my kids can finally listen to audiobooks again at bedtime, perhaps will purchase. Is the Boost any better than the SonosNet created by my wired Playbar? Ready to scrap the whole damn thing and get my kids Echos to solve this Audible problem.

My situation is I'm planning to buy a Playbar for my tv, etc and two Play:1s for other rooms. My place is under 700 sq. ft. and I don't think I need more than that. All my music, which is constantly on in my place, is on an iPod Classic that still works great, my laptop and iTunes Match. I'm convinced one day that Sonos and iTunes Match will somehow be friends, but when...? So here is what I'm debating, trying to balance expense vs. future system improvements and additions: -Buy an iPod touch and download all of my music on it (likely would get a 64GB) -Buy a Connect and line-in my iPod Classic -Boy a Play:5 and line-in my iPod Classic One day I may add a turntable and/or cd player to the mix. I think I'm leaning toward the Connect. What would you recommend? Thanks!

Hi, I've recently bought the playbar, it sounds really nice, and I'm planning on buying a sub next, even though the bass is actually very good for a soundbar. Anyway, the only thing it's bothering me, is that sometimes when people talk I hear a crackling sound, like if some speaker can't handle it. This is the setup: - only the playbar - Samsung UEJU48 - I use the optic output from the TV - volume is around 40%. - factory settings, nothing altered. The sound source is Netflix, it's not an old show (House of Cards), so I doubt it's bad sound quality. Not all voices produce this, I'd say less than 10% of the time, however is noticeable. Any suggestions/questions are welcome. Thanks.

I'm going to purchase a pair of Play 5s for my home audio setup and want to connect both a turntable and a television. Is it possible to use the line-in on each speaker (i.e., one source coming from the TV and one from the turntable)? Will I have delay issues if I'm using a line-in for the TV? If so, is there any way to avoid it? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Would it be possible to use four Play 1's and the Sub in a 4.1 surround sound setup (Left-Sub-Right) + (Left Rear - Right Rear)? Or is a Playbar required for the front speaker?

Today I went to a shop almost decided to buy a SONOS, unfortunately the vendor there had no clue about the system and couldn't answer any of my questions, happens. Anyway, my use case would be: - I stream to my TV (Samsung UE48JU) movies from my PC using Chromecast. - I like to watch some YouTube videos mostly or occasionally some music in the kitchen while I do something. - I play PS4 on the TV. - I don't play PC games on the TV, but might happen in the future, perhaps. The idea is: - to buy a playbar for the TV and a play 3 for the kitchen. - if everything works really good, later I'd add a sub-woofer + a couple of play 3 to get 5.1 to the TV room. However I've been reading that: - some people has issues when trying to get 5.1, because apparently when you connect the console through the HDMI connection, you cant get optic audio out in 5.1 - YouTube is not supported within the app, any workarounds?.or could I use Chromecast somehow?. I have a separates system and b&w soeakers in my dining room. I am looking to buy some play1 and 3 speakers. I want to be able to play my music from my phone through the sonos speakers and it also play through the b&w speakers at the same time and also play cds through my separates so it then plays through the sonos speakers. Which connect or systems allows me to do this?

Hi guys, I'm new to the SONOS forum, looking at purchasing several speakers soon, however I'm just curious with how the SONOS will work. I currently own a mini Hi-FI system, the Sony CMT-G2BNiP. Ideally I'd like to purchase a Play:5 and perhaps two Play:1's, and connect them to my TV and set them up as a surround sound setup. I'm wondering if it's possible to keep my current Sony speakers, and add them to this system. My understanding is I would have to purchase the Connect:Amp to do this? Would appreciate any advice on achieving this setup, Cheers, Tom.

I would like to buy a couple of Play 1s to add to my existing system. While I know, the Play 1 has gone on sale around Black Friday before I can't help but wonder if they have been reduced because there is a new version being released. A Play 1 with a line out would work great with an Echo Dot. With Sonos working to enable the components to work with the Amazon Echo, I can't help but wonder if there is new hardware that is going to follow. Thoughts?

I'm trying to set my parents up with Sonos at our cottage and the room is rather large and I thought of getting a pair of Play 3s for the room. Everyone seems to talk about the play 1s and 5 but not much about the 3. So my question is, is getting a pair of Play 3s worth the money is there a better option?

Just purchased the playbar, and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a mount for the playbar that would enable me to hide the otpical cable to the back of the tv for a clean look? I see the Sonos official playbar mount and I also see some mounts online that attach to the back of your TV that hold the playbar directly below the tv and was wondering if anyone has any experience with any of these. Does anyone know if blue-tooth will be available for sonos anytime soon? if that happens, would the entire speaker need to be replaced ? I am new to the system and am debating between Sonos and Bose since Bose has bluetooth tech and I happen to use frequently, but I like the sould on Sonos better, which makes it a difficult choice to make.

Hi everyone, For reference, my post is related only to listening to music. I picked up a Play 3 today, mostly to explore the Sonos eco-system and gauge the quality of the product line. I am very impressed with the software/interface/capabilities of the Sonos systems.In fact, I am sold alone on the technical aspects of a Sonos system. I figured that if liked it, I intended to reuse the Play 3 for a small room, and spec out a solution for our living room/dining room area. This is the main area that I sit and listen to music. I should add, I dont have music just playing in the backgroud; one of my hobbies is sitting and listening to music for hours. I have been a long fan of speaker systems that separate the highs and lows into dedicate speakers (satellite and sub style setups). For my ear, these deliver the sound quality I am fond of.
