What to get

We are just getting into setting up a Sonos system in a new home. So far we have a couple of P1's upstairs in a bedroom and a bathroom but now we are trying to decide what to add on our main floor kitchen + living room. They are essentially one space, only separated by a freestanding double-sided fireplace. No wall in between them at all. The kitchen is 20' x 24' and flows right into the living room which is 20' x 16'. So total square footage at about 800 SF. Was considering either getting two P3's and putting one in the kitchen on top of the cabinets and the other in the living room OR getting one P5 and putting it on top of a cabinet that is closest to the living rroom and angling it out towards both the kitchen and living room. Thoughts??

Hello World I'm about to move to a new condo and would love some help coming up with the ideal Sonos setup. I listen to music constantly (in every room of the house), and entertain a lot / throw parties. How would you setup the condo in the pictures? What speakers should I buy and how should I place them? Hi there fellow Sonos fans! I currently have a 2nd gen play5 and looking for a new setup for my TV (the old TV is going to be replaced aswell!). The play5 is placed in the same room but in the kitchen/dining area and I want the new setup to be groped with the play5 for music/parties etc. Btw I love the play5 and I don´t want to get rid of it! So I have a few options here: 1) Sonos playbar placed above the shelf (see pic) and a sonos sub. Is the suggested placement of the playbar any good? Unfortunately there isn't enough space to put the playbar anywhere else due to the size of the new TV. The playbase won't fit either. 2) Sonos connect amp + a pair of passive bookshelf speakers. I heard there could be a slight audio delay caused by this setup? Is that still a problem with new TV's? 3) A pair of active speakers (or a passive pair with a separate amp) + Sonos connect 4) Get rid of the play5 and go for a Heos/Bluesound setup with their respectively "Connect amp" with opti

Currently in my living room, I have two Play 1s in stereo which I love very much. In the same living room, I have a Klipsch soundbar connected to the TV via digital optical cable, and it's wireless subwoofer which work together via bluetooth. I also like how the TV sounds with that set up, and it even sounds pretty amazing when we're watching YouTube music videos on the TV. So right now I have one set up for music (the Play 1s), and another set up for the TV (Klipsch). My question is, can I bring those together via a connect without any delay. Could I bring the Play 1s into my TV viewing audio and the Klipsch into my streaming music experience? I would love a bit more bass when I stream Spotify and wouldn't mind the Play 1s to play the TV sound too I suppose. Otherwise, I thought about adding a Play 5 (specifically for a tad more bass and to line in my turntable). Obviously I could add a Sonos subwoofer, and or a playbase or playbar. But could a connect help me for now?

Hi all, been lurking for a while and after getting a bit of money for my birthday recently and then some more for Christmas, I'm considering getting my first Sonos and was looking for some advice. I already have an Amazon Echo plus and an Echo so looking to integrate whatever I get into this. I'm just trying to decide whether to get a Play 1 or a One. I might stretch to a pair of Play 1s or another One at a later date if I went that way but am wondering which direction to go. Is there any benefit to a One if I already have Alexa on my Echo devices? Is the One a better speaker than the Play 1 or are they they same/similar? I welcome your advice/opinions.

I am after some advice on a NAS drive to hold my music that I can access through the SONOS app. I ask the question as I just purchased a WD 'My Cloud' 3tb with the intention of installing Plex on it, but once opened, it became apparent that the app was not available and I am thinking of sending it back. So, just need some advice on what is recommended please, do I send this one back and get a different one and if so what one? Any advice is much appreciated

Is there any way to connect a TV optical audiio out to a Sonos system apart from a playbar ? i,e, is the Optical connection on a 'connect' out only rather than in ? Thanks

Greetings, I have a budget of about $500 for speaker(s) for medium sized, irregularly shaped living room. I will mostly be playing music through spotify, edm, classical, rnb, indie. I'm wondering if a single Play:5 would work better than a 2.1 system from another company, possibly something like a Kanto Yu4 with a Kanto Sub6 or Sub8 with aptx bluetooth or chromecast audio. I do like the sound of a clean sub, but I don't like boomy, over-emphasized bass. I've heard the Play:5 in a big box store and it did sound great, though the conditions are not ideal of course. I currently have an old 2.1 Cambridge soundworks Microworks II system that I love the sound of but has issues like drawing 20 watts all the time with no auto power off, has no volume control, and the input is getting loose. I understand that given where we are that there will be a lot of support for the Play:5, but I'm curious to hear from anyone who might have experience with both sorts of setups. Thanks

Santa was good to me and delivered a Woofer, Sound Bar, 2*Sonos 3 and a Connect Amp. Is this however, the best configuration I need? Basically, I have a few room's (Zones) I want Sonos sound in: 1. Living room with TV - Currently 5.1 via Sony Receiver with 5 HDMI inputs (All inputs are used). This feeds the TV via a HDMI cable. The Sony TV only has 2 HDMI inputs and one optical input. This will be the main Sonos setup ie Bar+Woofer+ 2 rear speakers (Currently Sonos 3's - Recommended to my wife by the salesman as opposed to Sonos 1's). 2. Kitchen area - Music to cook by. I was thinking a single Sonos One. Can you set these up so that they play both stereo channels through the one speaker. (Converted into Mono). 3. Rear dining / rumpus room - Maybe two Sonos 1's? 4. Outside area - Single Sonos One. 5. My Office - Single Sonos One. I know Santa did not bring enough components to make the above, and in deed, I may need to send a couple back for exchange to other mode

I currently have the Denon Heos system (Bar, 2x heos 1 Surrounds, and a heos 3 for the bedroom). I'm looking to get into the Sonos setup, but need a way to unload all my Heos items. Does anyone know of an alternative place to eBay to sell audio gear in the NYC metro?

I'm about to get a Playbar for the TV and alongside that my budget will stretch to either a SUB or 2 Play 1s (or Ones) plus stands to use as surrounds. System will be used as much for music as for TV in a room around 15ft square. Any ideas as to which would be the best to go for? SUB or surrounds?

Do I need to buy a boost?

I've had your typical "big iron" A/V setup for years. B&W 603 front and center speakers w/dipole surrounds, Hsu VTF-3 15" sub, Denon receiver, etc. We're moving and I'm getting rid of all of it and going full Sonos. New setup has a Playbar, Sub, and two Play 1's on stands. I also bought two One's, putting one of them in the MBR, the other one is "roving" for use in various locations. Looking forward to chucking the cables and bulk of my old system, hoping the performance is good enough for me not to miss my old stuff.

Hi all - about to start investing in Sonos. I was wondering if people had strong opinions regarding starting with two Play:1 in stereo vs. starting with a Play: 5.1. This is for my living room -- 12x20 room. Thanks for your help.

If you are, like me, not an audiophile and rely on Sonos ads for information, you may be sorely disappointed. Ads for Sonos One and Play1 both advertise connectivity to your "other smart devices." Based on this claim, I fully expected the Sonos One and/or the to connect to my smart TV. It is a smart device in my home. Nowhere did it say this claim excluded TV sound. Finally, Sonos support told me that route sound from my TV that I would need an additional Sonos device that retails for about $700. This is classically bait-and-switch.Good luck with these folks.

I am trying to find a good speaker pairing for a CONNECT AMP that my brother in law has been given for Christmas from his good lady wife. I have some Wharfedale 9.1's with mine which I paid around 100 quid for new in October. The sound is "okay" at that price level (yes, i wish I had spent more) His budget is slightly more, around 350 pounds inc speaker wire They are to be wall mounted in room corners in a living room about 5m x 8m, and he will NOT be using a sub I was thinking about the Monitor Audio Bronze 2 ? Are these a good choice or can anyone recommend alternatives (UK based) Thanks in advance Paul

I have a PlayBar that I am going to add two Play 5's or Play 1's to for both surround sound when watching TV and stereo pair when listening to music. The room is about 15' by 20'. If I get the Play 5's they will be on the ground vertically. If I get two play 1's they will be off the floor on shelves. Wha will sound/work better? Thanks.

Hi All. Looking to outfit an open plan kitchen diner about 6 by 5 meters with speakers. I'm considering either 4 play 1 or 4 in Ceiling speakers paired with a C:A. Any recommendations on which is the better choice While the in ceiling speakers would probably work out more expensive i think they have the potential of providing better sound quality. Looking for opinions on both setup and recommendations on in ceiling speakers. Thanks

I'm thinking of buying a z-wave hub and wondered on the compatibility of Sonos Play 1 and Play 5. It would be nice to get ridge of my Sonos bridge as I don’t want lots of different hubs in my house. Any idea whether this would work?

Currently Currys in the UK have the Play 1 in Black or White selling for £134 with free delivery. I also get an 8% discount via my employers reward scheme so I'm going to bag me a couple of these beauties. I already have 5 Play 1s and that, obviously, is no way near enough!

Hi all I am about to upgrade my system but am unsure what to get. I have a stereo pair of Play 5's (gen1) and am considering getting a sub. Would it be better doing this or selling the Play 5's (gen1) and replacing with Play 5's (gen2). This will be a one off upgrade so if I went with the Play 5's (gen2) a sub would not be bought. What do you think would give the best sound? Thanks

Hey, We have lots of sonos pieces and I'm looking to set up a "stereo system" was going to go connect amp and some good bookshelf units but I like sonos sound.... the main goal is music but I do have a smart tv on the shelf I plan to put the system. The only existing gear I would have is a gen 1 5. So thinking a pair of (1,3 or 5) and use the old 5 in the center????? Or sell the old five and go 2 new 5s only? Let me know your thoughts Thanks!
