What to get

I am in the process of building a new home and would like to utilize the Sonos system throughout my house and need some guidance. The first floor family room, kitchen and dining room is a open concept design so sound will travel. Setup: Home: 6000 sq ft All whole house 16-2 speaker wire will be run to the basement to a central location where I will plan to house most of my audio/video equipment. What type of receiver will I need to run the home? 2 channel with Bluetooth, Airplay, DTS play etc? Besides Spotify and Pandora I cannot think of another source I would like to broadcast throughout the house. Wired in ceiling speakers: 5 sets (mst bedroom, mst bath, outside, screened porch, and kitchen). I would like to utilize the Sonos app through. 4 independent zones since the outdoor speakers and the screened porch will share a zone. Hi guys I went through the community topics and found a few posts about similar issues i am facing, however not the exact same one. Here the challenge: I have a projector and an apple TV. Now i am looking for a sound system to connect those products together, with the least cables possible. I was thinking to get a Beam. But: As the projector (and apple tv box) is behind the coach, i would not like to have a cable from the projector all the way to the front wall (about 4-5 meters). I have read about the approach where you put a HDMI switcher/spliter between the projector and the apple TV/Sonos, however, this would really not be practical as then i have a cable from the back of my living room all the way to the front. Is there any other way around that? I am thinking Airplay II etc... Thanks in advance

Hi everyone, so I am opening a new 2200 sq/ft PT office which was previously a clothing store and previous owners left 8, 70volt in ceiling speakers I plan to reuse in the general open space of the clinic for low volume mellow music at all times. I also have ~350 sq/ft enclosed studio where we will conduct group exercise classes. I know I need 2 zones to play different music in each space but wondering if I can use a connect with a separate amp to run the zone in the general space with the 70 volt speakers. Don’t think I can use a connect amp because it won’t work with those speakers? In the studio room I am deciding between adding a separate connect amp and 2 new 8 ohm speakers which will be pricey or if it would be adequate to use 2 play 1s or maybe 1 play 5? The music in the studio will be louder but will never need to be cranked. Also looking for which amp to buy to attach to the connect? Thanks

Hi there, We just bought a house that has speakers installed in the ceiling. There are 2 speakers in the living room, 2 speakers on the front deck, two in the master bedroom, and 2 in the home office. It was all connected on the Nuvo system with controls built into the wall in every room. Unfortunately there's no amp or receiver (not sure, I'm not big into audio). We want to be able to control the speakers through our phone rather than relying on panels in the wall. We own two Play1 that are just plugged into the walls in a couple places. What's the best way to link those speakers to Sonos? Or do I just abandon the approach and grab some more Play1s and scatter them throughout the house. Also...is the sound bar worth purchasing for the television? Thank you matt

So I'm looking for a little guidance around a decision I have to make. I'm kind of new to Sonos so any help would be appreciated. I have the Beam on one TV in my house. Love it. I'm in the process of buying another Beam & Sub but I have in ceiling surrounds that I want to power. I also have outdoor speakers I'd like to power as well and looking to link them all together and still have the ability to expand down the road with some Play1s. My question is what do I need to do this? Can I use a Connect with an 3rd party amp? I assume if I do this I lose the surround capability. Do I want the Connect Amp? This would give me the surround capability but I could not separate the outdoor speakers if I connected both the outdoor speakers and surrounds. Do I wait for the new Amp and just use that with a speaker selector? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I just bought a multi room Sonos speaker system that is great. It all works and syncs with airplay 2. The only room without sonos is my main living room which has a denon receiver sub and speakers. On my iPhone all of my Sonos speakers show up and I can play them all at once. The denon receiver also appears and I can play it. But I can’t play it at the same time as the other Sonos speakers (whereas I can play all the Sonos at the same time) Do I need a connect to be able to do this?

Excuse me in advance if this is an obvious question or if its been answered before. I would like to buy a Sonos Sub but i wanted to check in advance if this is the thing to do. Here's my configuration...my Sonos Bridge is connected to my modem. Sonos Connect is attached to my traditional wired amp which has four speakers and a subwoofer wired to it. My subwoofer is now damaged and I'd like to buy the Sonos Sub. I've been told that its not possible to have a Sonos Sub communicated with a Sonos Connect. Does it make any difference that I have a Bridge connected to my modem? Would the components work together? Any help would be appreciated! Chip in Toronto

Hi, I have a retail store with two rooms- one is 2600 sq ft, the other is 1100 sq ft. I want to stream music from a desktop computer, mostly from internet radio, pandora, spotify, youtube. I want the volume and sound to fill the room nicely, but not be too loud for conducting business and having conversations. Occasionally we will have a party and want to crank the sound. I'm thinking of 2 Play 5's for the larger room, and 2 Play 1's for the smaller room. Does that sound about right? Thanks!

Hi guys, I'm Italian (sorry for my basic English) and finally after years of savings we've bought an house :) It's under constructions, we're moving on May '19 and I'm planning to buy a Sonos device(s) for the combo kitchen and living room, the area will be 39 square meters. Our needs is to fill the room not only on the front of the sofa, but also in the kitchen area, I've attach the room layout. Our use it's about 20% watch movies in stereo (may be Netflix in the future) and 80% listen to music by TV/smartphone through Spotify (free) or Synology NAS App. We've an Apple TV 3rd gen. and only Apple phones. The TV will be replaced before moving with a brand new OLED LG with HDMI-ARC. I've read others posts, but I'm still confused if the best for our needs will be beam, playbar or, ironically 2xplay3 for the sofa and 1xplay1 on the top of the Kitchen. Alexa isn't available now in Italy, it's in beta, but I'm not "exciting" about that. Very thanks for any helps!

What is the best system or set up for a 1200 sq foot yoga room that the teachers can play music from their phones (Usually spotify)

I recently moved to an apartment (rent) that came with a Sonos system as part of the deal. Coming from another country (I live in US now), Its the first time that I hear and interact with a Sonos system, and I liked it. Well, the apartment that I moved has two speakers in the ceiling (they are mounted on the wall, but close to the ceiling) wired through the walls to a Connect:Amp, that is located inside a box in my closet (where my main internet cable is wired too). They are mounted in the living room, and bc of the layout, the TV needs to be placed at the same wall where they are, between them. My idea was to use this existing Sonos system and connect it to the TV somehow for movies and also music (Im used to cast to my TV stuff from Spotify, YouTube, etc.). After reading about Sonos, I realized that the only way to connect Connect:Amp to my TV would be by using a soundbar (playbar/beam/playbase) in a boost mode and use the connect:amp as surround speakers and maybe changing

I have two Play:1s that cover most of my small house. I'm thinking of getting a third Play:1 but now I'm unsure if I should get a Beam for the Living Room and move the Play:1 that's currently there to the office. I don't need "big" sound and mostly appreciate the multi-room playing in sync capability. For music and radio, is the Beam any better or worse sound quality than the Play:1s? My TV sound seems OK, but maybe I just don't know what I'm missing. My TV has HDMI, but not ARC. Which should I get?

I am trying to help my father-in-law set up a system for his living room. He is very hard of hearing and has trouble watching tv because he can't understand what people are saying. I am thinking a Sonos system with surround speakers might work for him. I wonder whether the Playbar or the Beam would be better for this application. His living room is not large and I think the Beam has a lot of features he would really like. I would choose it without hesitation if his hearing weren't an issue. The other option I'm thinking of but haven't yet looked into is if there would be a wireless headset available that he could use in conjunction with the Sonos system for watching tv. His wife would enjoy it if he didn't have to turn the whole system up really loud. Thoughts?

I have a new Onkyo TX-RZ630 that I’m setting up in a dedicated home theater room. I’m trying to decide on using a connect or connect amp in this room as if I had a connect amp I would send those two channels outside creating two zones one in the theater and another outside is this possible ? Information on the Onkyo works with Sonos equipment is very hard to find.

Set up system in a business and trying to find a way to limit users. System has been working great for several months. Now the volume changes and stations change. I know Sonos doesnt have any passwords. Looking for way to limit users, maybe by adding router or other device.

So as the title states. I am looking to spend around $700. For that I can get a Playbar or a Beam with 2 Play 1's. My setup will be used 80% for music and 20% for sports and movies. Any opinions or help in the matter would be greatly appreciated.

This topic must have been discussed earlier, but I can't find it. Is it possible to add a non-Sonos sub to a pair of Play:1? The price of the Sonos sub is four times higher than a Play:1 here in Sweden, so is there any cheaper alternative?

Thanks in advance for advice on this guys, this is a bit of a long post but hopefully some of you more familiar with the system can follow along and help! i currently have no Sonos but looking to get set up 1st with a Playbar (only concern is I really feel like an update won't be far away and a little worried ill jump i nat just the wrong time!) with Sub. Also really interested in incorporating my outdoor sound, especially coming into Summer here in Aus and thats where this multi part question comes in. I will be powering 1 maybe 2 pairs (off the house is approx 8mx4m / 23'x13' pergola, then from that a 20x8m/65'x23' area so i may end up with a pair on the house and a pair on the end of the pergola). If not 1/2 pairs then 1/2 single point stereo speakers which I assume will then have the same considerations. It will be mostly for music/radio streaming, but the living area opens onto this so the option of playing tv sound via the player but also grouping with outside would be

I am planning a trip to the Us. Due to VAT and currency it is much cheaper to buy Sonos in the Us than Europe. As they have som different electric current I am worried that the Sonos equipment bought in The Us will not work in Europe. Has any of you tried this and can I just plud in it here in Europe?

My boyfriend has recently brought a set of play 1 speakers. At the moment they just sit on the side tables either side of the bed, so I was considering getting him the wall mounts for Christmas. was just looking for people's opinions on them, any problems and whether it is worth the buy?

Recently we added another couch to our living room and now only one sitting area has rear speakers. I would like to see the ability to add another rear speaker pair.

I've been going back and forth about beam vs. playbar and was (finally) leaning beam. Yesterday I was casually measuring below the TV to see how the beam might look and my wife saw and responded, "THAT'S how it would look?!" She wasn't a fan. We have a 65 in TV. Has anyone else thought about how the beam would look mounted against larger TVs? Does it/would it have any impact on your decision?
