What to get

Hello to everyone, In order to take advantage of Airplay 2 in my set up I am thinking of using an Apple TV to send sound via Airplay 2 to a Beam Bar with surrounds and sub. I am using a beamer, that would avoid having a HDMI cable from back to front. My question is: does using Airplay 2 for movies enables 5.1 with surrounds sound balance when sent to a Beam or Playbase?

Hi, I already own 2*sonos one and one Play 5 gen 2 and want to setup the living room with great sound. The room is pretty open but with 2 walls. And different roof height. Will not use the setup for the TV just music. I was thinking that I might add one Play 5 and the Sub. What do you guys think about that setup, any other suggestions or if that setup is bad? Appreciate help 🙂

Hi, I have quite old tech (zoneplayer s5 & bridge) and am looking to extend the setup. I have 2 questions: 1. is it true I can only connect play:5 gen1 to my current setup (but not the gen 2 play:5)? 2. can I add a sub and playbar to my current setup? Thanks Paul

I recently bought two ones and am really enjoying them but for me they lack bass a little. I listen to dub reggae and bass heavy electronic music the most (child of the nineties ex jaded raver ;)) I’m thinking about getting the sub. Now I know this is going to add some ooomph but how much? I’m aware of my neighbours and don’t want to annoy them all the time (just some) sooo how effective is the sub at low volume as well as high! Will I still notice the extra depth at low volumes?

I currently live in a pretty small (540 sq ft) studio apartment and am going to make the leap into the Sonos world. I'm currently torn between getting a single Play 5, two Sonos Ones, or a Playbase. It seems like the consensus is that two Ones in stereo will sound better than a Play 5, especially since I can't crank the bass too much with the neighbors. However, I am curious how two Ones in stereo stack up to a Playbase? I am about 90/10 as far as music listening vs. tv watching but I like the idea that I'd be able to improve both experiences with a Playbase. The only thing is that I don't want to sacrifice my music listening experience if the Sonos Ones are THAT much better sounding than a Playbase for music. So what do you guys think for a single room apartment... 2 Ones or a Playbase (or a Play 5)? I'm sure I'll end up buying all of them and more at some point 🙂 but for the near term I just want to buy one thing. Also, the Alexa functionality doesn't really matter to

I just got a new tv and thinking about getting the beam. I already have a play 1, play 3 and play 5 (the original ones). Can any of these speakers be used as a stereo pair? I don’t want to have to buy anything other than the beam when I already have these speakers!

I plan on setting up a wireless speaker system to my TV in my living room with a beam and a sub, but should I get two Play One’s or two Play: 5’s for the best 5.1 effect? I know the website sells a 5.1 set with the two Play One’s, but is there a reason it is not advertised with the Play: 5’s?

I thought I'd post a brief writeup of my recent purchase of the new Sonos Amp with the aim to help those on the fence make a call based on others' (admittedly subjective) experience. The sound from the amp is fantastic. I have paired it with a pair of Bowers and Wilkins DM601 S3 speakers; previously paired to an NAD 3020 unit. The different is imperceptible to my ears. That is the highest of praise as the NAD is a fantastic amp too. There appears to be ample headroom with 125 watts per channel, though I haven't gone beyond 40% out of respect for my neighbors. Good job Sonos.

Hi! I'm interested to buy some speakers and grow in the Sonos ecosystem and am just wondering a little bit which route to take. I'm interested in sound quality. I understand the Beam offers more the smart functions compared to play base but if we talk audio and just the joy of experiencing a good speaker system which would you suggest that I choose? So currently I am a student and money is a limit, but at the same time I want to think ahead and buy something I can grow with, I rather spend more money on something that is very good and that I am satisfied with. 1) What do I need to get additional to the Beam so that I can reach the same audio quality as the playbase, would a Sub added to the Beam be equal to the playbase? 2) Currently I live in an apartment and therefore I can't play too loud music, would the Beam be sufficient and the playbase would be overkill? 3) For you that have experienced both the Beam and the Base, what are the differences, I've heard the base i

I have two separate systems. Music room (Zone 1)has valve amp servicing turntable and Olive One HDD storage as Source with two wired B&W speakers. TV room (Zone 2) has hometheatre 5.1 amp/receiver servicing TV with 4 wired roof-mounted speakers and sub. Both systems have Bluetooth input into a spare channel currently for music from iPhone. House has wifi Just received Sonos One which stands alone and plays internet music and radio (via Alexa) No other independent wireless speakers. So: how can I connect music room source amplifier to TV room amplifier so music from source plays on all speakers? Or allow iPhone music via Bluetooth or over wifi plays simultaneously over all speakers? And what do I need to add (and to which system) to supply additional wireless speakers I might buy for other area of the house or outside? Don’t need to play different things in different zones.

I have 2 Sonos Play:1s currently that I wish to use as speakers for my Bravia smart TV and a turntable with built in pre amp. I have been looking at play:5s and connect/connect amps but not sure what is the best product that satisfies both my requirements at the same time. No time lag as man suggested would be great. I might be adding the Sonos sub in the future as well. Also, the new Sonos amp is out of my price range so that is not the best option.

I am toying with buying 2 x Sonos 1 speakers as opposed to Sonos 5. Do you have to have Alexa, etc , for the Sonos 1 to work, or is just an extra feature not needed to listen to music?

Hi I have a high end A/V system powered by an ARCAM A/V receiver and Dynaudio Front & Centre speakers with a B&W subwoofer. I am downsizing to a much smaller apartment and do not have the space for all the speaker equipment. Do I have to get rid of it all, or can I use some of it based around the Sonos system? I am thinking, particularly of the subwoofwer which cost around $1800 7 years ago. Can I connect this into a Sonos 5.1 surround sound Cinema system, or would I be better off just using the Sonos system in total? Many thanks D

In our new home we have 16 built in ceiling speakers: 6 speakers are connected to 3 connect amps, the rest seem to be not connected. What do I need to buy to connect all speakers to the Sonos system.

$599 sub vs $269 2x Play:1s - good deal for either. Which one will have more impact to augment the Beam for party music/video?

So, we have 2 sonos play:1 speakers. I would like to be able to stream from bbc player radio but understand I can do this with sonos: one using airplay. So, my question is: if I get a sonos:one to connect to the current network will I be able to stream the player to the current speakers I have. So we currently have a speaker on ground floor, and one on top floor (of a three storey house) I'd want to listen to the player though just one speaker that may or not be the sonos:one. Hope this makes sense, ask me questions if you need further explanation.

Having a company install a tv, Sonos play bar, sub, connect:amp, and 2 in wall speakers in my living room. Had a guy do a walk through today - they are high end and no stranger to Sonos The house is pre wired for all this. My internet router is upstairs in another room. Does this warrant getting a connect AND a connect amp? I could be totally wrong but I feel this is redundant to get both

Hey sonos friends, I'm considering adding a play bar or play base to our home office, but was wondering if anyone heard of any desktop sonos speaker products on the horizon. My wife has a very old set of computer speakers that could use some upgrading. It would be great if it was a sonos system since it can remain always on. I considered a connect amp but I'm not sure the product is designed to work with displays since it has the audio delay. The play bar, and base are intriguing since they are designed for screens but their size don't quite work with the desk. Anyone else use a similar setup?

So, I bought a Sonos one in June this year (Yay!), I needed a decent speaker in my living room to enjoy music on the weekends when I unwind from work and for use with my TV which I seem to watch excessively. Excuse my lack of knowledge, but only until after I bought the Sonos One, did I realise Sonos's modular setup and that if I wanted to use my speakers for music AND TV, I'd need to instantly add to my setup. 6 months down the line, and I'm ready to upgrade (or slightly upgrade, after a call to Sonos sales support I feel like I need to be adding another 2 or 3 pieces to my setup). I am going to add a Sonos Beam into the equation. I have scoured the internet for the setup I am considering which is: 1x Sonos One & 1x Sonos Beam, but I can only seem to find; 2x Sonos One and 1x Sonos Beam......I am slightly reluctant to fork out £200 on top of the £400 spent on the beam, to make it a surround sound so I called Sonos support to see, what are my options, and seeing as I found nothin

I’m starting off with Sonos by connecting a Beam to an LG TV and with a view to later on linking in two Play:1 speakers. I’ve then seen that it is possible to connect an external turntable using a connect box. Looking at prices it is possible to get a second hand ZP80 for a lot less than the current ZP90 version. So is there a lot difference between the two models or would the ZP80 suffice? As the turntable would be in the same room as the Beam and Play:1 speakers then I don’t want to look at another speaker such as a Play:5. If the ZP90 is the better alternative then I would look at that but if the cheaper ZP80 works well then that is the preferred option

I am thinking of adding some Sonos speakers for TV and movies (and a bit of music) in the living room. I quite like the new Beam but I am wondering if the sound quality is good enough compared to the Playbar. I would either buy the Beam and add 2x Ones and the Sub. Or I would buy the Playbar and the Sub. Which option would be the best? Will the Beam deliver enough punch or is too tinny (when adding the other speakers)? Our living room is about 4x3 meters where we sit and watch TV and continues in an angle that is about 3x6 meters. What would you choose?

I ideally want a setup where I get the benefit of a soundbar and good music playback in my living room, ideally from a stereo speaker setup. What would you recommend as the best option for me?
