So I have had my sonos for over a year. I am using a play 5 gen 1 that has a stereo patch cable connecting it to the tv. I am an employee with a home integration company so it’s no where near my first time using this product. About 2 weeks ago I noticed that only the HBO GO apps sound quality has changed drastically since the last time I had used it. It used to be pretty clear, crackle and pop here or there but nothing crazy. All of the sudden it is muffled and I can hardly hear the words being spoken, I’ve tried adjusting the EQ, even going though my tv speakers on my Sony it doesn’t sound quite right. So I’m sure it’s something with the way HBO go formats it’s audio. I’ve eliminated the possibility that it’s an issue with my fire stick, I see there seem to be other issues with hbo go as well thought the forum. I’m just wondering if anyone has ran into this issue before, All I know is winter is coming and I hope to be able to hear it properly!
Interesting tease here: https://www.engadget.com/2019/08/08/sonos-fall-event-IFA-2019/ Seems odd that no FCC popups have occurred yet, but I'm not one to be looking for those kinds of things, I count on others in our community for that 🙂
I've seen a lot of web articles from the normal tech sites talking annot Sonos Event that should have happened today. Everyone thought Sonos would be announcing new speakers during this 2 day even but I haven't heard or seen anything at all.
I have bought all your products. The only thing I really listen to is my Itunes and you "Edited Clowns" Edited that up. I have 50 gig of Itunes that used to work but now does not. I really only listen to the Sonos thru the house when I rarely get an opportunity to have sex with my wife and yes you always Edited that up too; With the updates and other Edited. I think your product was great initially, what are the fascist millennial's running this company now. It does not work more than it works and I have no itunes now period. Moderator's Note: Edited for profanity. Please be aware of our community standards.
Sonos holds a two day press briefing in New York and not a snippet of news about the event anywhere. Anybody have any intel on the event?
This will be interesting, especially after Denon. Sonos invented wireless multi room audio, and owns all the patents. Hard to imagine they won’t win this one, too. https://www.cepro.com/article/sonos_sues_lenbrook_for_bluesound_bluos_alleged_patent_infringement
A few months ago I lost the ability to control my Sonos system with my iPhone 4s because the software updates were no longer supporting the 4s. What a waste of equipment...! That phone became totally redundant and now sits in a draw doing nothing... Customer services were useless with their hollow apologies I looked to sell all my Sonos equipment - 2 x Zonebridge 100’s, 3 x Zoneplayer ZP90’s and 4 x Zoneplayer S5’s. I used to use the Sonos CR 200 but that was crap and after five replacements under warranty I gave it up as a total waste of money, hence using the 4s. I tried to sell all my Sonos kit and find something else that wouldn't be hindered with this update/redundancy but that wasn't easy. In the end I purchased another iPhone - the 6s, to control my Sonos... But now - another problem... the 'On This Phone' feature is being removed!!! So now, my few-months-old iPhone 6s will be useless for playing my music!!! I am retired, living in Thailand. I cannot afford to upgrade to Airp
Hi. I purchased (5) Play:1, (1) Play:3, and (1) Boost about 2 years ago and have been using them around my house ever since. All of the speakers still work perfectly and sound really great. But I just learned that the ability to play the songs that I own on my iPhone and iPodTouch on Sonos will no longer be available shortly. The only way I can continue to use these products in this way is to purchase a new device for example the Sonos One. I have spent roughly $1550.00 on Sonos products and the functionality that I bought these products for is simply going to be removed because your company will not continue to support it. So what will the Sonos app be used for? Streaming radio? I have no interest in listening to the radio. I purchased your products to listen to the music I want to listen to. I listen to thousands of songs I have purchased over the years in multiple playlists. I will not purchase a new Sonos product at this point to continue to get part of the functionality that I cur
Hello, I cannot make the Beam work with my telly; it's got the optical Audio output (no ARCH) so I used provided HDMI-to-optical adapter. The beam recognizes it during the setup, but again, no sound. I saw suggestions to unplug other HDMI cables from the telly, but this is how the signal comes to it - through a single HDMI from a receiver, so how can I test the speaker if no signal is provided to the telly and, consequently to the Beam? I used a different (working) HDMI cable with the provided adapter, no luck. I then hooked the Beam to the PlayStation 3 optical audio -- no sound from there either. Is the adapter faulty or shoulod I send the Beam back for a replacement? Also, the Beam works great streaming Spotify from my phone. Thank you
Why is sonos getting rid of direct play direct from my iPhone. This is madness, wouldn’t bought sonos if I New this was going to happen. Good luck sonos guess you be getting some rubbish reviews if you go ahead with this change
Has anyone been to the new web site? Terrible. Hard to navigate, hard to search, less information than before. It Really has no purpose, it is a terrible upgrade. I have 12+ products, they are great, but this is an abomination, please fix it. There is no technical information, only product placement and sales, does not help anyone. Sorry, not liking the new site at all, a major step backward, and room for competition to get a step up as potential buyers will go somewhere else, i would.
Hi all, Up until HomePod appeared I had multiple sonos players in my home for years. From connects to play 5s and play 1s. When HomePod came out I got one and sold all my sonos stuff. Despite this I was never really happy with the HomePod sound. (It replaced a play 5 2nd gen) I thought a software update might help and eventually it did, with Apple altering the original sound signature. But this didn’t end the list of things I didn’t like. For starters this “place HomePod anywhere and it will sound great” is rubbish! Despite adjusting to its location, it’s still highly temperamental in its placement. The sound curve changes dramatically based on where it’s placed. The last straw was last week I bought a third one to stereo pair with the one in the lounge room. It didn’t work correctly. Even after the room correction stuff the right speaker was clearly louder than the left but the left had a higher overall bass response. Nothing I did fixes it. Even reversing the physical positi
So if this is going away and I have the Amp how am I supposed to play my music on the Amp without subscribing to a music service without a home computer? Seems ridiculous
Ryan sent me a message yesterday clarifying that some recent moderation I had complained about was an aggressive automatic filter at work, and not a moderator action. As I have written to him, I am putting my response to this and to the spam question in general in this thread so others with value to add to the finding of a simpler and better way of handling these irritants can contribute here. IMO: Automated spam filters don't seem to work well in two ways. One, we still see spam here that any decently designed filter should have caught; spam that is blatant, from first time posters. Automation often doesn't seem to catch such spam. On the other hand, when for example a spam filter blocks a post that I have written as part of an ongoing conversation or argument in a thread for no valid reason, all it achieves is messing up of the thread by disrupting the flow of the argument. And I say no valid reason because after some hours or days, the dumped post is reinstated by mo
I reset my Sonos Beam and tried to reinitialise it. My app errors that an update to the app is available but not in my app store (Google Play Australia?). Now my Sonos is useless - I can't set it up. Come on guys... You should release the controller update before you release the platform update if it's a requirement!! EDIT: Manual update fixed this. Suggest the devs look at a better error message or better handling of version updates in-app. EDIT: please ignore the subject of this post - I was experiencing bigger issues at the time, and have since resolved them (fault found on TV not Sonos) but I can't update subject in edit. Cheers
How many of you have managed to accidentally delete a playlist because you forgot to right click/play now and double clicked? Why is there NO option to set the default action of double clicking ( say Play Now?) This has bothered me for some time now and should be easy to change. So why not? Cheers! Ed
Sonos Playbar keeps dropping audio. I reset the power by unplugging it from the outlet, wait 10 seconds, plug it back in and it works for a few minutes and then the audio drops again.
The title says it all, really. Not only does it lose posts on editing, saying that it's being referred to mods but then disappearing into a black hole, but the quoting and editing function is now a joke. You used to be able to easily split and reply to individual points, but now it's ridiculous. I don't know what you're paying for this garbage system, Sonos, but IMHO it's way too much.
The service to play your iPhone content to your Sonos system will be unavailable in a while. To my opinion this is because the streaming services have the power because that is where the money is. I used to love Sonos but the sponsors come first and the clients are forgotten. There is a crack in the relationship now and it is a shame that Sonos doesn’t stand up for the users.
So, I have two Play:3's in a room and one of them has lost it's high-end, clearly a failure of the tweeter. When I contacted SONOS support, they had me run through a few tests and came to the same conclusion, however, they offered to sell me a refurb at about $170. Not happy about it at all. I'd be willing to pay for a replacement for the tweeter, but buy a refurb? I own several SONOS devices... including the CONNECT:AMP, 2xPlay:3, and Play:5. Obviously time to look for alternative. Anyone else dealing with similar issues?
How did SONOS miss this basic function? I don't like my speaker setup on 5.1 surround sound because the rear speaker volume is too low relative to the playbar and subwoofer. I would like to turn up the volume on ONLY selected speaker(s) and cannot. Even my factory car radio has a FADE function. Why doesn't my $2,000 Sonos Surround sound offer such basic functionality?
Why, having selected Show More Activity in Recently Active and opened an older post, does a browser back selection take you back to the initial post listing and not back to where you were further down the older post lists? As a consequence, one has to repeat the Show More Activity (sometimes a number of times) to return to a browsing view of older posts.
I’ve just been looking at standby power use at our place. Very Rough calcs for us: 1xsoundbar + 2x ones = around 14 watts/hr. 8 hours sleep @ 14 watts x 365 days = nearly 41 Kw every year. Annual cost @ 30c/kw = approx $12/year of standby power while we sleep. And then there’s the greenhouse gas emissions. this sound absolutely nuts to me. Am I missing something? is there an option to automatically turn off at night say from 11-6? Surely a simple bit of coding for such a sophisticated piece of kit?
Replies no longer show the "title" of the poster, just the author. I miss seeing my "World Class Superstar" (!) title on my replies. Pretty sure this used to be shown.
In my personal capacity but drawing upon my knowledge as a data protection and privacy lawyer I have made a formal complaint to the UK Information Commissioner's Office on a number of grounds relating to SONOS's privacy policy and its processing of personal data. SONOS has both misapplied the GDPR and avoided provisions of it in enabling an unacceptable level of harvesting of personal data. In summary SONOS erred in law, in my opinion, in permitting its legitimate interests (some of which are fairly generic) to override the rights of data subjects which is wrong (the rights of data subjects come first as a general rule). SONOS has also intentionally embarked on a process of changing its ecosystem from stand alone use to one that forces the user to accept an intrusive and unnecessary level of linking of SONOS units to activities. It is impossible to not accept SONOS's updated privacy terms and terms of use because the update procedure forces you to do so. For example, you cann
