I have a large room and want to use the Echo as an additional speaker. Can it be used as a 3rd “Sonos” speaker to boost the Echo 1’s I already have?
I have already connected to the 2.4GHZ network by mistake when I got my new router. I would like to change that to the 5GHZ network with the same password. HOW DO I DO THAT?
Hi, all,I just bought a Sonos Move and the sound is amazing. But when I leave it on the charger loop and short press the Power Button, the LED light will turn off and I think it goes to "standby or sleep mode", but after around 20 mins, it just wakes up automatically. I did not do anything in the 20, even not open the Sonos App.Does anybody have the same issue? Or the product is intentionally designed like this?
Hey guys i have a playbase an one SL an alexa one and a play 1 can i use the one SL with the play 1 and pair to the play base without any issues? Regards
I have six Sonos Play 1 speakers, with an Orbi router and one Orbi satellite. All speakers are wireless. Lately, I've had issues with some speakers (rooms) not being available depending on whether I'm looking at my PC, my iPhone, or my Ipad. It's not consistent from device to device. All are using the same wireless SSID. Sometimes the iPhone app indicates I'm on the wireless network, but it can't find the Sonos speakers on it. Sometimes 1 speaker shows up. Also, when I go into the web-based admin setup for the Orbi, the device lists indicates that all Sonos speakers are "wired" devices; they are not. Because I can't set IP addresses for each speaker, I'm relying to Sonos to do some magic with a combination of the speakers themselves and the app (on my phone or iPad which are inconsistent) and have become frustrated trying to troubleshoot where the problem is. I've not yet connected my Playbar for fear of becoming all the more frustrated with the process. I love the speakers
I just read this about your recent SEC filing: https://www.theverge.com/2018/7/11/17559380/sonos-airplay-2-support-software-update-download “We expect that in the near to intermediate term, this backward compatibility will no longer be practical or cost-effective, and we may decrease or discontinue service for our older products,” says Sonos in a recent SEC filing. When will you let customers know about which products will be affected by this discontinuation plan? Clearly you know internally since you say in the near to immediate term this policy is going ahead. I presume for example the first gen Play 5 you no longer sell will be affected and the old Sonos Bridge. The problem for those of us using speakers with online services such as Spotify probably means once API changes are made by the service provider, we'll almost certainly be shut out from using those services with our older Sonos speakers. There's nothing particularly shocking about this. I'm curious what the plan
Regarding the new Sonos Move, very curious to know if one could still group in other speakers when using the bluetooth connection option and presuming that the Move is also connected to Wi-Fi. Or is it a case of the bluetooth option being fully stand-alone, and the Move can not simultaneously use Wi-Fi and bluetooth?
How do I fix this. Both speakers work individually.
Hello! I am thinking about purchasing a Sonos Move, but I was hoping to use it as a Bluetooth output speaker with an Amazon Firestick or Apple TV connected to a tv. Will this work? Will the Move and a Firestick communicate? Will the Move and an Apple TV communicate? Hoping to do this for watching tv outside. :) Thanks so much! Jonathan K.
I was outside over the weekend listening to music on the Move. It was a warm day - in the high 80’s. But anyways, the move was playing four about 2 hours, but then the sound started to break up. So I brought the Move back closer to where I was sitting - and I noticed that the battery LED is blinking red, and then sound would not play at all. The support page mentioned that a flashing red battery light is indicative of a "fault condition" so I just want to be sure this isn't a sign of more issues down the road. I'd like to make sure the battery is still good to go. As I've used the Move from day to day since January it's been interesting to see how fast the battery loses a full charge, on occasion. I’ve figured the drainage may be due to the Smart nature of the speaker, always being "on". So, I've taken the initiative to shut it fully (long press and power down robot noise) off at night most nights, or when I want to be sure it’s not actively using battery. As most Move owners have
I spent an hour on the phone with sonos tech support. Wow are they bad.. the person clearly didn’t know the product. And was putting me on hold to speak with someone else. 55 minutes later and the Rep. still had no clue what I was asking. Help! what I am trying to do is setup a First Generation Sonos Connect 2004-2014 model. Last time this happened I had to call and support asked me for serial number and MAC address. They sent it an update remotely to get it working. Last time during setup tho it gave me an error code. this time the S1 app adds the Connect. And under rooms it says Product (unused) needs update. If you click update→ it says your system is up to date. It also is stuck in a loop asking me to sign in to my account. please help! This only took 15 minutes last time this happened to get the update manually sent to the device to get it working. The person I spoke with was clueless.
System: a number of Sonos devices including some older devices plus One and One SL - both of which should be capable of receiving AirPlay2 streams.I also have wide range of Apple devices capable of sending streams - 2x iPhones, iPad, iMac, MacBook etc.NONE of the devices will communicate so that I can stream audio to the One/OneSL for more than a couple of seconds - and that only if I’m lucky. Randomly the One will occasionally ‘blurt’ out some music for a few seconds after a short period of time - but not so you could actually listen via the Sonos units. All the while, I can control the stream via Sonos’ iOS app or desktop software - so the Sonos software can control pause/play etc. I just can’t listen to the stream. In fact in the app I can see the music ‘representation’ bouncing away as it it’s actually doing something! Right now I’m listening to a stream absolutely fine via AirPlay2 off one of the iPhones and a Marantz hi-fi amp and my floorstanders. Stream works 100% of the tim
I have read 10 threads on issues switching the Move to Bluetooth connection. I've clicked the BT side, I've clicked middle, I've clicked it quickly, I've held it down for over a minute, and at no point in any combination of where I pressed and how long I pressed has the light turned blue and the speaker chimed to indicate it switched to Bluetooth connection. Has anyone else gotten to this point? Did I just get a lemon? I'd like to make 100% sure I haven’t gone dumb sitting at home at year before I go to the hassle of returning it.
Hi there! This is my first post here as I just got my first Sonos speaker ever, a One Gen. 2. I've always been into tech and I always do extensive research before buying something, which I've done in this case as well. Everyone is ranting about how great the sound quality of the One is, but I must say I am deeply dissapointed in how almost any song sounds over 50% volume. I feel like the speaker has all the ingredients to be amazing, great bass for it's size, good sound separation and crisp highs and mids, except when I go over 50-60%. It just sounds muddy, harsh, simply not enjoyable and has a weird echoey feel to it over 50-60% volume. Why would they even make it go to 100% if it's just impossible to listen to at even half that? Just to make it clear, I'm not some crazy audiophile, but as a simple example, I bought my dad a JBL Charge 4 for Christmas, which I thought sounded absolutely fantastic even at high volumes, so I'm honestly very confused that a 100$(on offer) bluetooth speak
I press the Bluetooth button but nothing happens and the light doesn’t turn blue . It is already set up with WiFi , but don’t know why I can’t switch to Bluetooth
Sort this out Sonos! I’m very close to selling all of my Sonos products (play:1, 3, 5(1st gen), 5 (2nd gen)). Great quality sound from all of the speakers (although bass frequencies cut out on 5?1st gen occasionally), but it’s driving me mad that all speakers cut out at least half a dozen times when listening to them individually for an hour or so. How can something like this have such poor network performance? I have Sky Q and sky broadband and read that sky’s utilisation of both 5ghz and 2.4 ghz may cause issues as Sonos only runs on 2.4 ghz. I’ve split the two bands up, and consciously made sure my phone is on the 2.4 ghz band when streaming to the speakers, but still they cut out. Sometimes they come back by themselves, sometimes I have to go into Spotify to select again the particular speaker, and sometimes I have to go into the Sonos app to find the speaker. This is driving me nuts. Don’t give me any excuses about my network not being up to scratch, as nothing else drops off
I recently swapped out my 2011 access point in my bedroom used for WiFi there, and I am seeing some Sonos anomalies. In the bedroom I have a Boost that is also root bridge, wired back to the main router in the common area, that has a Connect Amp also wired back to the same main router. I was using Airport Express in the bedroom, ethernet wire connected to the other ethernet jack on the Boost using the switch feature on Boost, to successfully obtain high speed WiFi in the bedroom - with the single band AEX set to work in access point mode, creating a 5 GHz network there. No issues with Sonos then, using either the phone or the Mac in the bedroom for control.I replaced said AEX using a dual band TP Link access point as a drop in replacement. Now, at times, the Connect Amp disappears from the Controller as well as from the Matrix. Getting it to reappear needs a Connect Amp reboot, that works for some time.I can’t see any logical reason for this - and when I brought the AEX back for a test,
Stereo pair no longer works. I have a left and right channel, plus the Sonos sub. Currently, only the left speaker and the sub will work. The weird thing is, I know the right speaker is connected and on the network. I know this because I can talk to it via Alexa, give it commands to play, pause, and I can touch the physical buttons on the speaker as well, and those work to pause, skip songs, etc.The problem is there is just no audio coming out of that right speaker. I have already gone through unpairing, repairing, separating, joining them back together, Etc. What is causing this, and how do I prevent it from happening ever again? It's been going on for a couple of weeks now.
Looking to connect an Epson projector to a pair of Sonos 5 speakers via wireless network. Is there any particular wireless transmitter that would be recommended.
Hi All,I had a few drop outs recently and decided to look at my network matrix. I saw I had some RED boxes on the left so I changed the one ethernet hard-wired speaker to be the left of a stereo pair rather than the right. This speaker is more central in the house and I read on the community that it was actually better to hard wire the left one rather than the right one. This seemed to resolved the red box issue. However, I noticed some other issues in the network matrix which I am hoping the community can help me understand and resolve if necessary. I have included a picture of my network matrix and listed my issues below:I have more items along the top than down the side. I have a two “undefined” items along the top. One with a very similar MAC address to my Lounge BEAM and the other to my pool room PLAYBAR (just the last digit of the MAC address is different in each case). I have tried rebooting the router, turning off the Sonos speakers etc. What appeared to work at first
Hi we want to use one of our Sonos One speakers with a travel router away from home during term-time. Is it necessary or best to reset the Sonos speaker and set-up as new, with a new account, when we use the travel router, and then reverse the process when back home?Thank you.
Is it OK to leave the Move on its charger full time? Will over charging diminish long term battery life like it does to cell phones?
Hi, I have a Sonos Move and I find it almost impossible to connect a new mobile device to the speaker. In other words, if a friend wants to connect his phone to play music it is such a struggle that we usually just give up. Am I doing something wrong? Please help.
Once paired, is there anyway to identify the left and right speaker? I suppose I could unpair them, repair them and then put a mark or sticker on one, but there should be an easier way.
I just bought a Sonos One. Every night, I use it to AirPlay from my Mac throughout the house for about an hour. I’ve got an Apple TV and other AirPlay speakers as well as the Sonos One. Every night, everything streams great to all speakers, but during the hour, once or twice, the Sonos One will all of a sudden fall out of sync with the other speakers in the house and experience a slight delay. When this occurs, I have to run to the computer, deselect the Sonos One, reselect it, and then everything is back is sync for a other 20 or 30 minutes, until it happens again. This happens every time I stream to all speakers. What is causing this and how can I fix it?
