It looks like the rumours were true. Amazon's Alexa-powered Echo devices now support 'multi-room '. Amazon has announced that you can use its voice assistant to control and synchronise music across multiple Amazon Echo devices. All you have to do is open the Alexa app and create groups with two or more Echo devices. You can name the group - such as “upstairs" - and then once you’ve created it, simply say, “Alexa, play John Lennon upstairs.” Saved groups has been repeated request from the user community for some time. Sonos may regret not heeding that feedback. If Amazon produces a high end speaker then I worry for the future.
I have got a demo arranged to listen to the Play:5 at a place. I want to check the versatility of the speaker which means, I would like to listen to all genres of music. I am a BASS fan, so I have my BASS samples ready. But speakers is just not all about BASS. I must be listening to some Mid's and High's aswell (Vocals & Guitar) Can any of you suggest a good track maybe one single track which has everything or different tracks to check out the Vocals and Guitar separately on how does it sound in the Play:5 ? Any suggestions guys ?
When Play:1 is turned up past half volume, the speaker buzzes during any bass, such as a bass guitar...tried resetting it, moving it to another location, unplugging power cord and reconnecting...still buzzes. Speaker is brand new, can I use the warranty for a new one?
I've had a working Sonos system for years, comprising of a sonos amp, a sonos connect, a sonos play:5 1st gen and a sonos play:5 2nd gen. The sonos connect uses a wired connection all the others are wireless. I have a sonos bridge wired to a Netgear router. All have worked perfectly until today and now I can't get anything to work, regardless of what I do. All Sonos apps (PC and Android mobile) are no longer seeing any of the wireless devices. I have rebooted the router (twice), rebooted the sonos bridge, tried hard wiring one of the sonos play:5's to my network, performing an update, but nothing seems to work. When updating the windows PC sonos app, the app ends with "Update problem - There was a problem during the update of your Sonos system. - Try again". That's just great!!!!! I have tried again many times, but nothing works! When I hard wired the sonos play:5 2nd gen to my network I was able to add it and then play music on it. When I removed the network connection i
Dear Community, Is any secret of connection PLAY-1 to WLC 5510 using CAPWAP. I made all steps according this link: https://en.community.sonos.com/setting-up-sonos-228990/sonos-with-cisco-aironet-access-points-32497 but no success. PLAY1 can't provision over CAPWAP WiFi net, timeout error. Seems like no traffic between PLAY1 and SONOS Controller via WLC.
Hi. I have to Play 1 speakers. One of them has stopped working. The led is flashing green. Unplugging didn't seem to help. Please assist me. Thank you. Assaf
I much prefer the physical buttons over the capacitive touch controls. Not so much an issue on Playbase but on the Sonos One. I have my One on top of my refrigerator. When I want to group it via the play/pause button with the Playbase, I have to look at the top of the One. With my Play 3, I can feel the buttons without looking and press the play/pause button to group it. Same thing with turning it up and down without the controller. I love the one button group feature for when I'm cooking and want to hear what's on the TV. The capacitive touch controls kinda defeat that function for me in the kitchen.
Am I correct in saying these "wireless" speakers do not work with being connected to the power cable?? Why does almost ever photo have them displayed in home / mounted on walls with NO power chord connected.
I bought a play one thinking "oh nice I can add Alexa to my Sonos 1 and create a stereo pair"
So... the 3 year old has been leaving grubby food prints all over the playbar. Anyone have any tips to clean the fabric cover please?
I was speaking with customer service a few days ago and they mentioned that new Sonos speakers are typically revealed toward the end of the calendar year. Is there a particular event where they show them? The design aesthetic of the Sonos line is what I might call mid-century modern or utilitarian. The Sonos One seems to improve things a bit over the Play:One. I seem to remember that they came out with a 'jazz' verison of the Play:One. Maybe there were a few other special editions as well. Does anyone know of any plans to redesign the visual aesthetic or possibly add more speakers to the line? Would love to see a Play:Seven added to the lineup.
The bass is intermittently cutting out on my S5, is there a fix or update?
Is it possible to report stolen devices to Sonos so to block use or detect where the devices are used if connected in the future?
I have a Connect Amp feeding into a switch box that selects between two pairs of speakers. I also have a pair of Bose Soundlink Revolve+ Bluetooth speakers for portable outdoor use. I'd like to have the option of playing the same music through the Bose speakers as through the Sonos. Could any of you folks recommend the best way to achieve this, if it can be done? I am wondering about parallel wiring out of the Connect Amp a Bluetooth transmitter that has speaker level inputs, if such a thing exists. Or perhaps inserting some sort of adaptor between the Connect Amp and transmitter to convert speaker level to whatever the transmitter accepts? My concern is with impedance, which I don't fully understand. The speakers connected to the switch box are a pair of 6 ohm nominal impedance Mission Cyrus 780s and a pair of standard ceiling speakers (I assume 8 ohms). I think Sonos say that speakers connected in parallel must be 8 ohms or else the Connect Amp could be damaged. I'm unsur
Hi, I am thinking of getting a Sonos 1 so I can multi room around the house. At the moment I have a surround sound (Sony) linked to a chromecast. When Sonos support google home, will I be able to link two Sonos speakers (which will be in other rooms) and the chromecast together via google home or does chromecast only link to devices with Chromecast built in? Really like the Sonos 1 but I don't want to buy 3 so need to find a way to link to my system I already have in the living room to other speakers around the house.
I would really like the new Play 5 Gen2 in white, but I have an issue with the front being black. Is there any possibility now or in the future of having a Play 5 Gen2 in the same color scheme as the white Play 3? The black front is not as discrete as I would like it to be.
I've had a Sonos system now for 7 years and in that time I've seen the full benefit of a wifi based music service. For the principle purpose of playing music around a house, bluetooth speakers just doesnt compare. However I am still confused why sonos see the question of 'wifi or bluetooth' as one in which we actually have to decide and go with one of the two options. Bluetooth performs a competely different function and has a completely different set of benefits to wifi. It allows one for instance to be watching iplayer on a laptop and instantly have the benefit of an extra speaker, it allows one to effortlessly create tv surround sound with any speaker you chose (not just a ruddy playbar). Alot of the topics within this forum question how can sonos speakers perform these relevatively basic functions. What answers do we get? Various software work arounds or some tedious way of connecting a device in through a connect amp - which lets be honest defeats the point of a wireless sp
Latest update has completely broken our setup and we are VERY ANGRY. The latest update has completely shafted our perfectly working setup around the flat. We have 2 play 5's in a stereo pair in the front room, 2 play 1s in the bedroom, a play 1 in the bathroom, a new soundbar in the family room with 2 1s in surround config, a play 3 on the kitchen worktop and 2 play 3s in the dining room. WE HAVE SPENT A FORTUNE ON THIS SETUP AND JUST BECAUSE YOU WANTED TO HAWK SOME NEW USELESS ALEXA SPYWARE CRAP IN YOUR NEW SPEAKERS, OUR SYSTEM IS COMPLETELY BROKEN. Half of our speakers no longer work and the ones that do occasionally work drop out constantly. If this doesn't get sorted out very quickly, I will consider legal action and judging by the number of other complaints I have read, I won't be alone. I will never buy any more Sonos products again, and I will actively dissuade anybody I know from buying them. Good lord what a shambles. Sort this out please. And also, while you're
Hi New user and looking to add a Playbar, BUT....reading LOTS of unhappiness about "DTS" and compatibility. people talk about Playbar not playing their Blueray/DVDs. Can this be correct? I don't have Blue ray discs, just 100s of ordinary DVDs. Will play bar play the sound on those? Apologies if this is daft question but lots of people seem to be pointing to huge problem thanks for advice Philip
I currently have a Sonos Connect operating through my PC with line in (aux) which then send the signal to my Play 5. My question is, if I plug the aux line in directly into my play 5, can i then connect to other speakers without the Sonos Connect? Will the play 5 act as a connect as it is directly connected to the PC through aux (line in)? I am hoping to buy two new Play 1's but before I do I was wondering if I can sell my Sonos Connect to be able to put the money towards these.
I have ordered a new tv stand and was wondering if it would be ok to put the playbar in the middle section of this stand.Has anyone else done this and does it effect the sound. Thanks.
Many of us have about all the different Sonos speakers in different configurations. Which combination have you found your favorite for different situations. Recently - I finally setup a full 5.1 system permanently when I moved around speakers in some rooms. In my sunroom I now have playbar, sub, and 2 Play:1s. I'm actually amazed how much I like it even for regular music. It has definitely become my favorite room for listening to music. My least used room is probably my Living Room. Here I have a Pioneer Elite receiver and some very good B&W speakers and B&W sub (leftovers from when I had a wired surround system with all B&W that I split up). This theoretically should be my best sounding room but I in fact rarely play music on it. Convenience so much outways what could be perceived quality in this case. I have a Connect:Amp in my bar that actually is one of my most used setups. I keep an old iPhone 6 plus in here on a cradle as a dedicated controller. Connected
Can someone please tell me how big are the three woofers and three tweeters in the Sonos Play:5 second generation. With size I mean like 4" inch or 5" inch ?
I purchased my Sonos Play 5 speaker many years ago (2012?). When I bought it I was informed that i must also purchase a Bridge, which I did. Can I remove the Bridge from the set up?
Hi, I am about to buy sonos play:5. I want to use the speaker with my Windows computer which i understand is compatible. Is it possible to use the speaker while i produce music and such without playing from music streaming services? Basically use it as a speaker for my computer. Sumetri
