My play 1 has worked moving it from room to room for two years. Now it will only connect via Ethernet. Nothing has changed and all other devices are fine.

I have two play 5 set up in stereo. Vertical orientation. They sound great but sometimes I want to drop the volume without opening the app and they just don’t respond.

Hi, i'm new to SONOS community and going to get my first Sonos Play:1 very soon as Christmas gift. I've a couple of questions about the product i was not able to found in the forum (sorry if i miss them in case already asked/answered) 1) i found that power consumption of Sonos Play:1 is 3.8W when in idle mode, no music playing (+0.3W if connected by ethernet). Is it possible to put the speker in sleep mode and wake it up by a WOL magic packet? 2) as i plan to not use the wifi, is it possible to disable the WIFi functionality of the speaker? Thanks Simone

I know there has been a lot of request's for outdoor Sonos systems. I enjoy your product throughout my house and do not feel like getting below quality third party outdoor speakers and a connect or amp to drive them. I believe it is just time to develop an outdoor rated soffit speaker se we can enjoy Sonos quality audio on our Patio, instead of plugging and unplugging a Play 1 or 5 every time we go outside and linking it up to our phones, way easier to carry around a Bluetooth, but then you lose out on the Sonos sound quality. I understand they have been researching this for like 3 years, time to take a leap and be proactive as I believe this would be a huge selling point for Sonos, instead of urging us to buy competitors products. I believe that when Sonos recommends this, most people skip out of buying the Connecticut and/or Amp and buy a complete separate Bluetooth or other system when makes it a pain in the ass to have so many sound systems that could easily be averted by produci

Will be moving to Spain in the next few months and have a large number of sonos speakers purchased in the uk. When I move, will I be able to take them with me?

Imagine Sonos listened and designed a product ‘just for you’. Imagine that there were no resource or prioritisation issues. Just for a moment. Ignore that there may be othernoptions out there already. You simply want a Sonos ‘one’. End of. What new device or service would you like to add to your Sonos system? My starter for 10. A HDMI connect or centre speaker type device that would allow the use of dedicated L/R speakers for wider separation and better (subjective I know) sound than a playbar provides. The ability to play high res codecs would be a bonus and even more so Atmos (ignore technical issues with speaker placement). Basically something like the Heos AVR or what many speculated the beam was going to be (updated Playbar) but on steroids. No agenda behind the question other than curious what other would like the system to be able to do. Given the cost of the Playbar, I’d happily pay north of that for such a device. Hi all, My Playbar has developed a high-pitched noise that is extremely annoying and basically means that we can't use it anymore. The Playbar is 2.5 years old and has not been used for a few months. When I plugged it back in again, the noise started. I have heard others on the Forum have also suffered from the same issue. I contacted Sonos who asked me to do a factory reset (didn't resolve the issue). They have now sent me a link to replace the unit. The problem is I have to pay £199 as it is out of warranty. Whilst I accept it is out of warranty, I would just like to say how disappointed I am with Sonos. Having paid £600 for this unit - it is one of the most expensive in the range, and I am very surprised that such a high-end device has gone wrong so soon. It is obviously a common fault judging by the number of faults reported on this forum. If anyone from Sonos is listening, perhaps you could take this feedback into consideration....

I am frustrated with SONOS. If the router changes or if a new network is used it is virtually impossible to have SONOS working smoothly. I own a pair of Play 1s, but the system only works if one of them is plugged in directly to router via ethernet. I have attempted to reset, reboot, re-install, and nothing works. It cannot be this difficult to set up the system. Getting ready to return. Nice sound but very flawed.

I’m curious. When a system is in ‘Boost’ mode, does a new speaker only use sonosnet to join the system and obtain uodates etc, or does it initially use wifi before placing itself onto the Mesh? I’m guessing the latter. As today i added a new pair of Play Ones in the garage which is integral (in the basement, with concrete ceiling above solid block walls on all sides ) where my iphone could not get a wifi signal (iphones kept seipping the signal if I obtained it outside the gagrage and then entered). I could get a signal inside the ‘house’ part of the basement, and the Play Ones joined, uodated and played like troopers. Router is two storeys up theough two concrete floors. So either Mesh works from the outset or they have some amazingly strong wifi! Anyone know the answer?

Hi. I have a play 1 that keeps cutting out. It is the only wireless component in my sonos network. I have another pair of play 1s and a connect but these are wired. As a test I have placed the wireless play 1 right next to my router and i still get cut outs so it cannot be due to a poor signal. Can someone offer any help please? Thanks

Hi - I know this topic has been discussed before, but I can't seem to find any information specifically on the Gen 2 version of the Play 5, so I hope you guys can help me out. I'm considering for my living room either: 1) 2 x Sonos One + Sub 2) 2 x Sonos Play:5 gen 2 Option 1 would probably be better from an aesthetic point of view, though I do worry about sub placement (it won't be in between the two Ones). In your opinion, what is better in terms of sound quality?

I use both my ipad and iphone as controllers at home, taking both with me to work daily. My wife at home says the Sonos system may either continue playing music after i leave or will cut out or randomly start during the day. Why is this?

I am trying to find straight comparison's between the various Sonos and Heos speakers. Ignoring the apps, lawsuits, and preference of appearance and instead focusing strictly on sound quality, does anyone know of where to find some good comparisons between the products or maybe have done comparisons of their own? Below are a few basics as best I understand or have compared: Sonos One v. Heos 1 - Most seem to give the Sonos One a slight edge in sound quality. Sonos Play 3 v. Heos 3 - Neither really seems to have an edge. Sonos Play 5 v. Heos 5 - Most seem to give the Play 5 a slight edge in sound quality. Sonos Play 5 v. Heos 7 - A vast majority seem to give the Heos 7 the easy edge here. It seems to be highly rated all around. Sonos PlayBar (w/ sub) v. Heos HomeCinema - Neither really seem to have an edge. planning on putting one of my Play1's in this box so I can keep it outside and make it "some what secure" from tampering (or "borrowing"). Only opening right now would be to snake the power cord. Bolting this to a shelf that is on the patio. Direct sunlight will be on this for a few hours each day. Naturally when playing media, door will be open, but otherwise, would expect door to be closed and locked. Should I expect that idle heat generation may be a problem? Outdoor temps here rarely get above 85 during direct sunlight hours (patio gets shade early in the day). It would be possible to drill vent holes in the back, but I would prefer to be as sealed as possible. Play1 will be brought indoors during winter and anytime I'll be away from home for a long period of time (typically a week).

Possible to use Beam as a rear speakers? Benq Projector is placed rear in my room, don't want to wire cable to front of the room. (Beam as rear speakers wired to Benq W2000. Wireless to front there is a SUB and two play:1)

I have read on other forums that connecting two pair of speakers to one Connect:Amp is ok as long as they are 8-Ohm. Does this apply to exterior speakers as well? I am looking at the Klipsch AW-650 and wanted to make sure this setup would work.

Hi, new here. Moved to share because of the experience I’m having right now listening to a single Play 3 that I just mounted in an upper corner of our enclosed porch. After 40 years as an audiophile I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything like this. This little speaker was out here before on a table and it was great, but we rearranged and the table went away; so I bought a third party mount and attached it to a brick wall alongside a wall of glass, in what I now realize is a perfect horn configuration. I am shocked at what this tiny speaker is doing! Since I want the loudness on, for richness at low volumes, I have the bass down on its lowest setting. This is the most compelling sound, for every kind of music to which I’ve listened tonight - thank you! How can these tiny speakers make this low bass? I am wondering if I already have one Play 5 (first gen) should I buy 2 play 1’s or another play 5, if my intention is to use them as tv stereos?

WiFi keeps cutting out - looking for way to plug it out into the speaker is there an adapter or some other way to connect it.

I love my Sonos system however there is one issue that I find really frustrating. Every time I open my app when i get home, the volume for my Group has reset all the levels equally. I have different speakers set at different volumes in order to achieve the most even sound possible. It's frustrating to have to constantly reset the levels. This makes it harder to justify buying future Sonos as well because the more speakers I add, the more difficult it becomes. Maybe there is a setting I'm missing here? Please help!

I just got a new Playbase since the wifi module broke on my old one. I noticed that my new Playbase have two indicator lights, one on top and one subtle on the front behind the cover. This made me curious and I wonder if there are any other minor changes between the batches?

Have a Sonos One. Seen Sonos One support AP2 in iOS 11.4. Updated both iOS and Sonos app. Initially, Sonos One didn’t appear on the speaker choice in airplay. And then it appeared, I tested with Music and YouTube. Both worked. Then a while later when I wanna play music again, the options shows only iPhone! Anyone has this issue? How can I fix it? I just got my new Play 5 and SUB setup! So far the system is incredible. I was trying to choose between a Play 5 pair, or a single Play 5 with a SUB and I do NOT regret my decision to get the SUB. I have an open floor plan in my home and wanted something to fill the space with rich sound. Several threads said that a stereo pair of Play 5s would be the way to go... but I've tried a few speakers in my space and none of them really had the "depth" that I was looking for. The Sonos SUB fills my desire perfectly! It's so rich. I may eventually get that second Play 5 to really fill the space, but I have no regrets. :D I noticed a few topics saying that Trueplay really scaled back the SUB, and while I agree that Trueplay did make the sound a bit 'lean'... what it did beautifully was balance the sound in my space and eliminate boomy "hotspots". All I did was bump up the bass a bit in the EQ and also bumped up the SUB level a touch to fill the room.

Is there a known issue with this combination - Trueplay just makes the sound so thin - the mid range and bass become non-existent. The non Trueplay setting is a bit muddy but its SO much fuller and warmer. I can't believe that the Trueplay settings are correct - it pretty much takes the SUB out of the mix entirely. I've tried with a number of devices and maybe the answer will be don't use Trueplay but I just cannot believe that the results I am getting with these speakers are in any way what is intended. My workplace uses Sonos throughout the whole floor. It's sometimes hit or miss in it's connectivity to the speakers we have, which is is something I'm working to fix (either by adding additional boosters or finding different placements). Another thing that seems to be an issue is that we can't lock down the system to prevent others from changing anything. I've noticed that if there are many people accessing Sonos from their devices it glitches or freezes. We've considered adding it to a hidden network, but there are certain people that still need access to it with ease. Password/pin protecting rooms and/or the system would make things every easy for me. Opinions? Advise? Anything is welcome.
