I started using a Sonos speaker as an alarm. Fine, but I would like the radio to play only in my bedroom when the alarm starts. So that’s how I have set the alarm. My day now starts with this speaker ungrouped because that’s what the alarm does. Then when I am up and about, I like to play the same radio downstairs too. So now I have to create a group every morning and set volumes for each speaker (4 speaker system). If I don’t, I can hear the radio out of sync in different rooms. Like most people who spend all this money on Sonos, it is to have the benefit of a multi-room system - I like to be able to walk around the house and hear the radio in sync throughout. It is so cumbersome and frustrating. My experience with Sonos is that I have some amazing hardware with software that seems to stand in the way of how I want to live.Solutions that would be terrific are:I have tried IFTTT automation but it doesn’t control grouping (yet?) why does Sonos need groups? Surely it would be easy
Is there any way to use sonos on the Samsung smart fridge with the Bixby built into it?
does Sonos have a setting for 5 channel stereo that I’m missing?
I am writing this question because I do not know how it is possible to connect any Sonos soundbar with my Projector (EPSON TW-5600) and Fire TV Stick. The Fire TV stick is connected to my projector using the HDMI port, the projector doesn’t have an ARC connection. The fire stick has bluetooth so I can send the audio to a bluetooth enabled soundbar but this doesn’t help when using a Sonos speaker. I think it is not possible to use a Sonos soundbar with a projector but I am hopeful there is a way! I have not purchased the soundbar yet, I have many Sonos speakers so it makes sense for me to buy a Sonos soundbar but it is problematic. Thanks in advance!!!
Hi, I have several eligible devices. They are online and this is showing up on the my account page, but I don’t see any option for the trade up scheme to be applied to any of the products. I am viewing the page on an iPhone 7plus if that makes any difference. Can Someone assist?
I’m trying to set up my daughters Kindle Fire HD to play spotify via our sonos speakers. It recognises that there are speakers to connect to but won’t connect. It just stays ‘Connecting...’ It is trying to connect as if I’m playing via through the sonos speaker from my iphone it stops that device playing on sonos but the kindle fire never connects. Very frustrating and don’t know what to do. Any advice?
I am wondering if the ”One SL” model can be configured like this: Can two of the One SL speakers in the same room be paired as stereo speakers, or do they have to be grouped as two mono speakers? If yes to question 1, would I be able to use AirPlay 2 to play my music, in stereo, to the SL pair? Is the SL speaker as beefy as the Play One with regard to CPU and memory? Do the SL speakers support SonosNet? Does the Sonos Bridge support the use of Airplay 2? Does the Sonos Boost support the use of Airplay 2? Thanks!
What is the difference between the older Bridge device and the new Boost device? Do they perform the same function? Is there any functional improvement in upgrading from the Bridge to the Boost?
Hi Folks, I’m considering buying a pixel slate, which runs Chrome OS and has the ability to run Android apps. Reading through older post about running on Chromebooks (which also use Chrome OS) it seems like the controller may or may not run on chrome OS. Can anyone give me the latest on if the Sonos controller andrioid app runs on Chrome OS? I’m particuallry interested to hear from you if you actually own a pixel slate and know if it works, tho if you have other insight from using Chrome OS on other devices I’d love to hear from you too! Many thanks in advance! ~Drew
Since last update, when we turn on the TV, Sky Q box and Beam, there is no sound for a minute or so. controlling the volume, mute, input etc makes no difference, there is just no sound. It as if the volume is on minimum or on mute. then suddenly it will just start to play sound from the TV. i have tried changing from music to tv and back, music plays, just not the TV sound. wife is swearing a lot 😖 Diagnostics - 591168226 just suddenly started with the latest software update, there has since been a Samsung update, but this did not fix it and there had not been a Samsung or sky update before this. the only update was Sonos.
Hi there, I types my username and password into the sonos app on my tenants device so he could control bass and treble. But he has moved my volume limits to 100%. How do I unclog him out of the sonos app so he cant gwr to those settings. Thanks.
On here partly to vent my frustration, but also to ask for advice. I’m running iOS 10.3.3 (the last Apple update available to my older generation iPad, which incidentally meets all of my needs), but after updating to Sonos 10.5 I couldn’t understand why certain controller options (e.g. Add a Service/Rescan local Music directory) were greyed out. Searching this site, I believe that Sonos have just disabled these functions for my operating system version. Why was this important change not communicated? e.g. an email/ in the release notes (it just says performance improvements/bug fixes), or a pop-up? If I’d known, I could have decided not to update rather they have my system crippled. I’ve been trying to work out how to add Apple Music, to which I’ve just subscribed. I have a Windows 10 PC, so downloaded the Windows controller. Yes, I could select add a service, but the system said ‘sorry Apple Music can only be added on iOS or Android devices’. (Drat!). Ok - so my neighbour has an
I have an Onkyo receiver that is compatible with a Sonos Connect, will I get at least the same compatibility with a Sonos Port?Further, are there any advantages with the Sonos Port apart from what I understand of upgraded audio components? Thanks in advance.
I recently did the “trade up” program and got rid of my 15-year-old Sonos amps, replaced with the Connect:Amp. What I notice is that with the prior hardware I could adjust bass, treble, loudness. Now that new components in place, I am no longer seeing that option. Just me, or am I missing something?
Hi all, We recently moved into a new house that had some passive Definitive Technology speakers wired for surround sound in the family room, there are also some in ceiling speakers throughout the rest of the house wired back to the family room. I was drawn to Sonos for the ease of use and clean designs so I purchased 3 Amps direct from Sonos. I set this up to run a 4.1 Surround System in the Family room and the 3rd Amp is powering the Ceiling Speakers. Works great. I then wondered if I am missing out on a Center channel so I am also testing a 7.1 Onkyo receiver which can do much of what the 3 Amps are doing for much less money, roughly $500 versus $1800 for 3 Amps. With the Onkyo I set it up for 5.1 and the 2nd Zone powers the ceiling speakers. But here I am wondering if I should go back to the Amps, I like the user experience better and slick design of the Amps. It feels more modern to me than the larger AV receivers Plus I enjoyed a few features that sonos allowed me to do that I can
Hi Support,This seems like a no brainer, but how about putting yor speaker system in smoke alarms that are wired into ceilings? It would be a great way of putting music in many rooms without taking up any additional space. Talk about whole house audio…ThanksKnipfty
Can the new Sonos Amp be used as a 3.1 system?i have three non smart paradigm speaks are left, right and centre channels, and a paradigm base subwoofer that are connected to a Denon AMP for sound for the TV.i want to run this setup through the new Sonos AMP but it looks like it is only a 2.1 system.the reason being I have 4 Sonos One’s throughout the house for music and want to use my Paradigm system with my Sonos system. So can the Sonos AMP be used as a 3.1 system? Also if I loose the centre channel how will it sound out of two speakers, I hear the Sonos AMP has a way of making it sound like there is a centre channel?
I have a Beam, Sub and 2 Play One SLs setup as a 5.1 Home Theatre.I also have Two Play:1s in another room setup a stereo pair. With these if I go into the EQ settings I can adjust the balance. However on the 5.1 setup I have two poor choices for playing music:Leave it in ambient mode which is far two quiet for the Play Ones, but at least it adjusts the balance according to the distance settings for the Surround. Go to full mode which allow the Play Ones to play the music as they should, but resets the balance to be equal, making it far too loud in the closest speaker and therefore ruining stereo sound. Why isn’t a balance slider available for the Play Ones, just as with my paired Play:1s in the other room? What other choices do I have for balancing out the sound? Would Trueplay solve this? Do I have to consider breaking the Ones and Sub out of 5.1? Could they be grouped with the Beam differently? If there is no good way to solve this I would like it to be considered as a feature request -
Hello everyone, I would need your help, please! I was wondering if the Dolby Digital 5.1 format is supported by my Sonos Home Theater system. I stream Netflix content from my Apple TV 4th gen, video sent to a video projector via HDMI and send the audio to my Sonos via AirPlay 2. I have 1 playbase, sub and 2 Sonos 1, grouped all together and the 2 Sonos 1 configured as surround speakers. I want to be sure that I really cover DD5.1 format and not just stereo, I try to find info about that but no success. anyone knows if this format is supported? And how to be sure that I send 5.1 to my Sonos speakers? Is it on the Apple TV or Sonos app setup? thanks in advance for your help and advices! cheers
Would I be correct in assuming that if I want to output all sound from my PC to my Sonos Move’s, I will need a Sonos Amp or Connect? I’d need to use a HDMI to TOSLINK adapater to connect my PC to the Amp (given my PC doesn’t have HDMI ARC, unless my Nvidia 1070 would work?) https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2796/~/which-hdmi-audio-formats-do-nvidia-gpus-support%3F Perhaps the GPU will simplify things for me. However, it’s still dissapointing that to gain this flexaibility in the Move’s I need to spend another $500.
I would be looking at buying the SONOS MOVE for use in our MotorHome (That’s an RV @Ryan S and @Chris) So as the motorhome runs on 12v which I know the Move doesn’t then I need to have a good idea how long it will run from a full charge connected to my iPhone via Bluetooth.I can plug in 240v but if hooked up on a site it would probably knock out the power due the high amps. ThanksDave
Hi all. Thanks in advance for reading. I have looked through previous posts but there seem to be so many different set ups that I want to be sure I get the right product.I am setting up a home cinema system. At the moment I have an Nvidia Shield (2017), an old Optoma projector (which will be replaced in next 12 months so not a fixed part of set up), a Gen 1 Play 5 and two Play 1s.I have a shelf at the back of the room with space/plugs to house the projector, Nvidia Shield and any speakers or other equipment needed there.Ideally, I was hoping that I could connect the Shield to the projector and a Sonos product and then stream the audio from the Shield/projector to the Play 1s or another Sonos product at the front of the room. Will that work if I connect a HDMI from the Shield to the projector and then connect an optical cable/HDMI to any Sonos product? Or do I need something like the Connect or Connect Amp? Would that even work to relay the audio to the other Sonos speakers in the room?As
I use my Connect:Amp for my turntable and it works great. I also have a CD player and a large collection of CD’s that I would still like to play. My question is: does anyone have experience using an a-b switch with a Connect:Amp so you can easily switch between two devices? If so, does it work well or are there any problems you have experienced? Thanks.
I want “My library” (or whatever it’s called in the English version) in the Spotify tab to be on top since I’m not interested in Spotify’s advice. Since some update Spotify have added a multitude of categories and placed “My library” at the bottom. This is annoying, especially on the iPhone where I have to scroll a lot to reach the bottom. Is there anything to do about this? To put “My Library” on top?
Every time I use Beam through AirPlay or if I use voice assistance for playing something, the device disconnects from TV. I have a Samsung TV with HDMI-ARC (Anynet+), and I have to turn the Beam off and on again every time it disconnects. Not convenient at all. Why is this happening? Any help is appreciated!
