This morning, my ESET Antivirus reported a “suspicious file” found - sonos.controller.desktop.resources.dll and deleted it. So I tried a re-install, the same thing happens during install.
My tv is not quite flush with the wall perhaps due to the mount itself which is a Kanto FMX3. The tv is an LG 65CX OLED. It is mounted fairly high on the wall over a gas-only (non wood burning) fireplace. The tv is slightly tilted down because it is mounted high on the wall. With the current tv mount, the bottom of the tv is approximately 8” or more from the wall. If I wall mount the Arc, the top firing speakers will look up at the back side of the tv and the tv mount. This seems far from ideal for Atmos playback. This is also assuming Arc needs to be “in front” of the tv so the top firing speakers can bounce sound off the ceiling. I currently have a Playbar but was really excited to get Atmos. Will I need to cancel my Arc preorder or should I look at different ways to mount my tv? I am willing to sacrifice a swivel function to get the tv closer to the wall because I highly doubt I’ll need that but tilt is a must due to the mounting height. Any other issues I should be aware of
My Sonos Beam still has a lip-sync delay and i’m now considering an optical switch as many have said this solves the problem. How does this work exactly - i have searched you tube and can’t see anyone giving instructions to complete novices as to how to set this up. Have i got this right Tv’s Arc hdmi to the switch’s hdmi slot that says ‘out’ Optical adapter supplied by sonos into the slot that says toslink and then back into the beam. Will that then get rid of the lip sync? If i then put an amazon fire stick into one of the switchers hdmi ports would the sound play through that hdmi channel? It all seems very confusing - i love the sound of sonos but the audio delays are maddening. Any advice would be appreciated. This is the switch that has been recommended. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Techole-Aluminum-Splitter-Switcher-Projector-Black/dp/B07KSYS2L4/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=3HBURFEEVYAQW&dchild=1&keywords=hdmi+switch+4k&qid=1592232631&s=el
Sonos interoperability with Instagram
Hi All Have just taken delivery of my Sonos Arc and have a new TV coming as well. I was planning on hanging the Arc under the TV on my wall bracket but I have read that there needs to be a gap between the TV and the Arc which would leave the brackets visible. Is it a definite no to hanging it directly under the TV with no gap?
Where are the various “Mix” playlists found under “For You” (ie. Favourites Mix, New Music Mix, Chill Mix...) These are the playlists that are updated weekly under “For You” in Apple Music. The For You area under Apple Music in Sonos, doesn’t seem to have these. Where are they located and can I play them with the Sonos App? Spotify in Sonos shows me my Discover Weekly and Daily Mixes not sure why Apple’s equivalents dont.
I already own two S1 speakers. Is it possible to pair them with a Play 5 Gen 2? And is this a good option for a good back yard/ patio party sound with some decent kick for our wedding? Or is there a better option? Thanks in advance.
Hi all, this is my first post in like 10 years so be gentle! But after days of updating my knowledge of sound formats etc. I wanted to check if I’ve figured this out! I have a new Sonos Arc, Connected to an LG B7 OLED (via HDMI Arc) which is connected to an Apple TV4k. I can get Dolby Atmos content playing fine from Netflix, Prime etc. And Infuse, all from my ATV 4K. but when I play Dolby Digital plus (E-AC3) non Atmos content on Infuse it defaults to DD 5.1 on my Sonos app. Ive tried every conceivable combination of settings Across the tv and ATV to get Dolby Digital plus to show in my Sonos app, when watching non atmos DD+ content, but no go. If I use the Onboard apps like Netflix etc I also get Atmos as with the ATV... BUT if I use the onboard Tv version of Plex to play the same non atmos DD+ files, I get Dolby Digital plus showing in my Sonos app! So I think the answer is this.. but wanted to check I wasn’t kidding myself. The ATV 4K carries Atmos
I have reached out to OREI regarding two of their products that indicate they both support HDMI-ARC (Audio Return Channel) - either the UHD-402 or UHDS-402A. My TV has an HDMI-ARC output but delivers a audio lag to the Sonos Beam. Up until now, I have been using a Cable DVR with two outputs for my source. The Optical output from my Cable DVR to the Beam (with the Optical/HDMI adapter) and the HDMI output from the Cable DVR goes to the TV. I also want to be able to connect additional sources such as BluRay or a streaming like Roku or Chromecast. Three questions: Will this idea of extracting the HDMI-ARC work with the Beam? Anyone have experience with either of these two products? Which one of these is best suited for my needs? I have had three emails with the company but not quite getting the communication that I need to make a best decision. The link for the two products at the company’s web site are: OREI UHD-402 https://www.orei.com/products/4k-4x2-hdmi-matrix-switch-by-o
Hello, Got my Arc last week. It’s connected to LG C9 with eARC. On the TV there is a setting for volume normalization and it was never an issue. Now after connecting to Arc I’ve noticed that there is very noticeable problem with one app. Checked the audio and it’s DD2.0. Same as HBO GO which has no issues so it’s not dependent on source type. So, what can I do now? Apart from always remembering to lower my volume by half?
I can’t really understand how thinking has gone when possibilities for controlling both TV and Sonos product is going in the wrong direction when a new product, Arc, is launched. Since I only have access to ip-TV and need to use HDMI for connection from box to TV I cannot use HDMI ARC. The old Playbar was still possible to control via Samsung remote and digital output but there is no response whatsoever with Arc. Disappointing development when I went out of my way to exchange my newly bought Playbars for new Arc?
I’ve been a Sonos user for a number of years and have 2 systems, one at home and one in the country cottage. Everything works fine on both system. I get a Move to play outside by the deck at home and will bring it to the country cottage by the lake. Here is where my problems start. i hook up the Move at home and all works as well as all my other Sonos speakers. Weekend comes around and we go to the cottage. So I initialize the Move to the Cottage Sonos system and all is good. After the weekend I bring back the Move to the house, and my home system can’t find the Move. I have to look for missing speaker, very cumbersome and time consuming. But maybe I missed something on the first try. All is good at home. So the next time at the cottage my system can’t find my Move, I have to go through it all the sit-up again. Come back at home and again it, y home system will not find the Move. This has gone on for the past 3weekends and I’m dumbfounded. This has to be easier and not as time con
Cannot work out how to set up up a stereo pair of 2 x new Sonos Five's as front speakers in a 5.1 setup, using playbar, sub and 2 x play 1 as rears. Can't find anyway to set the 2 x Fives's as front L&R and use playbar for speech, which is how a 5.1 system should be set-up? I can only add 2 x Fives's as fronts on their own, setting them up separately, when I pair them to the surround it sounds terrible. Says on Sonos Website that Fives's are suitable for use as surround speakers? Help! Looks like they will be going back to Sonos!
I have 2 Sonos surround systems in my home. I just updated both with new Arc sound bars. Now when I try to run the TruePlay set up it says there is noise interfering and it won’t complete the setup. I have tried several times in both rooms at various times night and day making sure there was no ambient noise. No fans, motors, outside sounds, voices, etc. fails every time in both rooms. When I ran the TruePlay set up in the past in the same rooms, with the old PlayBars, the test worked first try every time. Any suggestions?
Hello Sonos and community, I just had to cancel my pre-order for ARC, because after all these years of waiting and a steep price Sonos put on ARC we do not deseve to have an extra HDMI to be able to pass-though another device to not loose one of the HDMIs. I can’t belive this, what was the thinking and the reason for this? Now for anyone who has more then 3 devices connected, they would have to deal with a switch or what, wait another 7 years until Sonos will figure that you need to give the best to your customers to be the best. I am still not sure if it’s true, since there are no inputs/outputs mentioned at product page and it’s unclear from imagines, but you in fact it’s true that you have only 1 HDMI in ARC, this is a major flow and I can’t belive Sonos did it to us.
My other SONOS speakers are white, and I want to add a Move to my bathroom. I do NOT want a black speaker. Please make the Move in white. This would have been a day 1 buy for me if it was available.
I’m not intending to upgrade my Sonos kit anytime soon, as presently it does exactly what I want (and what I paid for). Clearly that means that my particular train has headed down the S1 track, rather than S2 (the only ‘new’ kit I have is a Boost, used to replace a Bridge). Question - has Sonos announced a minimum support period for S1 and associated kit? I’m thinking of something along the lines of “S1 software will be updated to run with new iterations of Windows, iOS and Android for at least 5 years” or similar. Have only asked re OS, obviously other stuff - TuneIn and other services is I guess a trickier question. I do have Play5 with line-in to PC, and a Connect (connected to a gramophone), so even if they pulled all the services from S1 eventually, I would at least be able to pipe music around my Sonos speakers via those two inputs. (Couldn’t find anything on this site by searching “S1 support period” - which I would imagine is the one question on many S1 user minds).
Hey, so I just got my ARC and it’s hooked up to an entirely new setup. TV is LG nano85 (2020 model with E-arc), Apple TV 4K and Xbox 1 S. All new HDMI 48gbps cables. Whenever I try to play something from Disney+ on the Apple TV there is no sound. The same happens when I play a Netflix item that has Atmos. I have the Apple TV set to auto, Atmos available. The TV is set to bitstream input and pass thru and e arc is turned on. Atmos works on the Xbox and on the built in apps on the TV. If I try and play any iTunes movies On the Apple TV they say 5.1 in the Sonos app, even though iTunes says they have Atmos. Am I missing a setting some where?
Can Move be used in a sauna?
I’m trying to setup a new sonos system and link to my TV. The speakers (beam, sub & 2 one sls) are on the same network as my TV. If I play music I get surround sound. If I play my TV, only the beam is working. trying to get surround via tv...
Hi Everyone, I am a newbie at all this Dolby Atmos and was hoping i could get some help. I have a samsung q80 and at the moment there is no EARC with this TV but i was reading that even without that we should be able to get Dolby Digital + when using an Apple TV. My current set up is HDMI Arc connected to the TV, Apple TV connected to a Phillips HDMI Sync box. Unfortunately the way it is connected now when i go to settings on the Apple TV it is telling me that the only output is Dolby Digital 5.1….is this what I should be seeing? Thanks in advance.
Is there such a thing as a “Modern” Sonos Connect? Correct me if I’m wrong (wouldn’t be the first time or the last) but weren’t there new Connects still being sold just last year? With the 5 year support rule, it would seem that there was an upgrade somewhere in the timeline to make the Connects modern. If this is true, what would I look for on the label to designate a modern Connect?
Good afternoon, I recently purchased a Rega Planar 1 Plus turntable with built in phono stage, I’m trying to play it through my Sonos system through a ZP90 connect. Sonos has recognised the ZP90, but the vinyl won’t play through the system!!! any help would be greatly appreciated.
Much needed help. I currently have the following components (listed below) and cannot seem to figure out if there is ANY way possible to make an HDMI Arc connection such that I receive true Dolby Atmos sound from my Sonos ARC soundbar via any component that I would choose to use (i.e. Apple TV (4k), UHD Blu Ray, Playstation 4-see below). If I cannot achieve Atmos utilizing my current setup then would you please advise which (if any) additional component(s) I would need to add in order to achieve Atmos in a projector environment. Here is my current list of components (I am currently connecting all to the Sonos ARC via Optical audio out on my HDMI Matrix Switch): Sonos Arc (connected to the HDMI Matrix switch via optical audio adapter), A Sonos Sub, and two Play:1’s for surround Orei 4K HDMI Matrix 4X2 Switch (UltraHD with ARC Supports yo to 4K @ 60Hz and 1080P Arc EDID) BenQ HT2050A Projector (connected to the OUT of the HDMI Matrix Switch-it, of course, does not have HDMI Arc)
How does one reset the new Port. I have seen no info on this? Thanks
