So, anyone who is interested, I didn't really see many comparisons of the 2 systems. Most of what I read was simply hearsay. Short background on myself, my wife, our 3 kids and myself recently moved into our new house with a media center. I have a Dolby Atmos system comprised of B&W speakers, Audiosource and Onkyo components. With the house, we had a lofted room built and wanted a simple system upstairs, when company is over, family time or just basic lounging around the house on the weekends. System was designed and built when the house was. So, I had read and researched a bit, but not extensively, and went out on bought a Sonos Beam with Play 1's and the Sub. First things first, the set up is simply phenomenal. It's easy. It's short. It just plain works. I was impressed with that. The system looks good as well. What I didn't know, is it was not DTS nor any other Dolby configuration compatible other than 5.1.. That was one thing the person at my Best Buy failed to mention in th
On my Mac -- When I try to update the app, or update services, I get a "check your network connection." No firewall, have downloaded and re-installed app. Won't connect to Spotify or external services either. Using High Sierra 10.13.6 Beta Please help!
We've recently bought a sonos connect and some play speakers to connect to our existing stereo system and be able to play cds in different rooms than where the stereo is located but it seems impossible to play the sonos speakers at the same time as the existing speakers as plugging in the connect "mutes" the stereo speakers. Is there a solution for this?
Recently, I bought a Sonos Beam to compliment my existing 2.1 setup, Sub and 2 Play1s. It was a breeze setup and the sound quality is simply superb. I just want to share that I do not have any issue with my 55" LG LED TV, not even the lip sync issue or cut out. Voice command works fine on turn on the TV but not turning off. Anyway, that is a minor issue as long as the stage sound and the 5.1 surround sound effect are good then I am perfectly satisfied with it. I am now enjoying watching action pack movies and episode through Netflix as the surround sound really immerse myself as good as I am sitting in a cinema.
I want to create surround sound on my TV using my existing receiver and Sonos Connect to integrate my in wall speakers with playbar and Sonos 1 speakers. Is that possible?
I have a sonos beam and two sonos one, when I play from the phone surround sound works but when I play from TV or from my Xbox surround sound does not works at all. I hear a very little sound from the Sonos one but that's like someone is whispering. I have changed the TV sound to Dolby Digital plus and changed the settings to of Xbox to Surround Sound as well. Moreover I tried connecting Beam with optical cable but still no luck. Anyone who can help ? My diagnostics number is 1923788362
I have a new Playbar connected to a Sony XBR55X900E using FiOS as my TV provider. The playbar is connected with the included optical audio cable. I have updated the TV to the latest software and firmware version. I get intermittent and persistent audio cutting out when watching live TV, DVR, and Netflix and YouTube. There are no issues when using the playbar to stream music through the Sonos controller app. When the audio cuts out, I can pause the program and then press play and the audio comes back for a short time (typically anout 2 minutes) before the audio drops again. I ran a diagnostic after it happened a few times tonight. 7605104. Would love to be able to fix this before Game of Thrones on Sunday!!
If Sonos want us to re-invest in a whole bunch of Play 1 speakers then Sonos should offer a SUBSTANTIAL buy back program for the six Sonos 1 speakers I have just recently purchased. So now we see competition from Apple and Google and others into this market and now it's Sonos that's on the learning curve. Still mending cart wheels while the competition is off to new galaxies.
Hi All, Im thinking of getting a beam to replace a bose companion 3 serires 2 (two small speakers and a sub) for my 55 inch tv and use my two play 5's gen 2 as surround speakers. Im eager to see if this is an upgrade re sound quality. Does anyone alreay have a beam with two play 5's that can comment on what this setup sounds like?
As I did buy (4) Sonos play:1 with the ensurement that Sonos have build in the chip needed for AirPlay, Sonos just pulled the support and imho a buy back recycle program should be enforced by Sonos - any change for this?!?
Hi, I have a Sonos Zoneplayer S5 that I am trying to use after a gap of 5 years and having changed countries - UK to India. while it was working fine in UK, I have been unable to set it up using the controller app on iOS. I have tried both the options - setting up as a new system or connecting to an existing system ( as it was set up before). Also I have tried connecting the player directly to my router with which my iOS device is also paired - again no luck. The Sonos controller keeps on saying 'unable to find the speaker', Did a factory reset as well, again with no results. Any help/guidance will be appreciated. Thanks
Hi, I just purchased a PlayBase, a sub and two Play:1s. The sub hasn't arrived yet. I'm moving from a Sony 5.1 system which always sounded really nice but I wanted the connectivity afforded by the Sonos system. I'd heard a friends set up using the SoundBar though and it was great, hence buying a set myself. I was shocked by the sound quality of my system. It has loud, explosive sibilants and boxy sounding middle. Voices also sound far away, like they're in a large hall. There's no way I'd live with this if this is the final sound output. I'm wondering if the sound quality of each individual unit in a theatre set up will be changed when the sub finally arrives. At the moment, I'm for sending it all back to Curry's. Could any experienced hands put my mind at rest or suggest system adjustments? Thanks.
I have 1 Sonos connect amp, 6 in ceiling speakers, and 3 osd vms100 in Wall volume controls (controlling 2 speakers in each room)(https://www.outdoorspeakerdepot.com/vmimmaslvoco.html). Is this set up ok? I have yet to connect it all together. I do not want more than 1 Sonos as I specifically want same source in all 3 rooms. Thanks!
I'm unsure if my Panasonic Plasma TV (TC-P50V10) has ARC functionality. It does have HDMI. The TV's documentation is not clear. Are any community members know if these older sets have HDMI capability?
I have a play 5 and 1, I am able to connect them manually, but everytime I start to use them again the play 1 is disconnected from the 5.. and I have to connect them again manually by grouping them.. Very annoying! Is there a setting where I just can group them indefinitely without having to do that everyday?? Thanks
My Sonos account says it can’t find any speakers registered to my account. It has locked up my controller on my iPhone and iPad. I only have amps, with hard wired non Sonos speakers. I was using the system offline when this happened and I am still offline without access to a network. How do I get back to a functioning controller?
It would be great if SONOS made a sonos 2 clock radio with a digital screen showing the time and all the normal features. A smaller bedroom version of the sonos where if you wake up at 5am and wanna know the time you can just look yet also have all the great features that sonos otherwise brings. Got to be a good seller and far cheaper than buying the controller to just keep in the dock showing the time!!!
Is it just me, or does Tidal sound better when streamed from the app on a laptop over AirPlay? Especially the masters?
I have a 3 car 1250 sq feet garage. My 3rd stall is deep where I have a play 5. I am debating on adding another play 5 on the other side to create a stereo or should I get a play 3 and a sub. Currently the coverage of my play 5 isn't the best due to my deeper 3rd stall. Open to suggestions.
Greetings, I am about to add another Play:1 to my system. When trying to add the unit I am asked to sign into my account in the app. My problem is that I get an error saying that I need to sign in with the account which was used to configure my Sonos... that is exactly what I am doing. I can login online using a computer with the same login details, but not through the app. Any solutions? I am on an Iphone 7.
I have been trying to research this topic with all kinds of confusion. I want to use an existing SVS subwoofer (paid a lot of money for) with a playbase only. Playbase is connected to TV with optical and I want to use my own subwoofer. I will not be adding any more speakers to this mix. I would like to know if I can use the connect/amp just for the subwoofer to work with a playbase and if it will sync properly and the audio quality will be fine from the TV. Everything will be wired to network. I don't have interest in going all wireless. I'd rather not buy another sub since I already have a good sub. Thank you.
When using AirPlay 2 with any music streaming app or the native iPhone Music app, playback is stopped when adding a song to the queue. Immediately after hitting “play next”, playback stops and has to be manually resumed. Anyone else experienced this bug? Seems intermittent and random.
Yesterday night I watched a movie with my Sonos playbar and surround speakers. Today the audio from TV is totally absent, either on Netflix or cable TV. When I run About my Sonos System, I get Audio In: No Signal in the message. I have tried removing all power chords, audio in cable but no result. The system plays music well on all speakers though. Please help.
Here I am, still sitting happily on v8.4, using my CR100s to play music from my NAS and Radio from the Internet - and definitely NOT missing all those “we need to update your system” nags. - BUT - Within the next month or so, I will be visited by several people who all have their own Sonos systems (bought after recommendations from me) Being younger and much more trusting (ie. nothing like my username), they all keep their iOS and Android Apps auto-updated to the “bleeding edge” Does anyone know what will happen to my v8.4 system if their v9 Apps attempt to connect? Even though my router blocks access to “update.sonos.com”, if the players are accessed from a v9 App, will they then “know” that there is a later version and kick off the “we need to update your system” process? I do not want to risk losing my CR100s - but I would have great difficulty ensuring that my nephew never forgets to leave his iPhone outside in the car. Thanks for any relevant info Paul
I'm new to Sonos. I just received and setup my Sonos Beam, Sub and 2x Play 1s yesterday. I have a small / medium apartment. I had been using an old cheap 'home theater in a box' sound system that wasn't very good. I'm not much of an audiophile at all. I just like sounds to sound good to my ears. My use case is all streaming content from my AppleTV to a 43" Sony Bravia. Movies, television and music. After much research, I went with Sonos for it's ease of use and setup. I didn't really need a high end audio system. Or one that had too much power for my living space. The sound is glorious :) I had it setup in about an hour. Tuned, adjusted the Sub down a bit as it's a little boomy in here. Apple Music - I have a wide and eclectic taste in music - I was pleasantly surprised how good it sounds. Television - Netflix and other services that can broadcast 5.1 surround come through very well. Hulu - only broadcast in stereo - so the quality is still good, but only through
