I have Beam and 2 x Sono Ones connected to my TV. However my wife often does not want to hear what's on the TV, so I use bluetooth headphones. In my Samsung TV speaker settings you can choose 'Receiver' ie Sonos or Bluetooth. When I choose Bluetooth the sound comes to the headset for about 3 seconds - the Sonos sound goes off, then the headset is cut out and sound reverts to Sonos. Why? My previous sound bar (a Bose) didn't do this. Currently I have to disconnect the HDMI (ARC) from the TV to allow the bluetooth to work uninterrupted. Any ideas how to solve this problem please?
I have a new Vizio TV P-Series 55" Class 4K HDR Smart TV (2018) - and just got a Sonos Beam as a gift. I was so excited cuz I've never had a TV this big or a soundbar before - so I was feeling super fancy - until the daily struggle ensued of the TV remote only sometimes working with the soundbar. If the remote DOES work - it's always lagging, or skipping. I will push the up volume and it will have a delay of a couple seconds before the volume actually goes up on the TV. Or sometimes for no reason it will suddenly drop down to 20 if it had been at around 40, with no one touching the remote, and vice versa. But the BANE OF MY EXISTENCE lately - and this is happening on a daily basis - is the remote will just not budge the volume at all, nor will manually pushing the volume buttons on the TV. It will only budge when I touch the volume buttons on the Sonos Beam manually. When I push the volume or mute buttons on the remote the volume dialogue will come up on the TV, just like it alwa
Recently the sequence in the listing of my spotify albums in the sonos app has completely lost its logic. For a while it has been placing the most recently played albums on top, but now it doesn't anymore. So now the ones that have been put on top remain there, and all other albums remain alphabetically, clustered by artist, as is my spotify setting, which hasn't been changed. It makes very hard to find certain albums in this ever growing list. Does anyone else have this problem and/or does anyone have a solution? Thanks
https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnarcher/2019/02/15/samsung-quits-4k-blu-ray-player-market/ Disappointing news for Sonos users looking for on the fly DTS to 5.1 conversion (I have the first generation player from Samsung at it’s great).
I have just purchased a Sonos Beam and have it connected to my Samsung TV via an Optical Cable using the Optical to HDMI adapter (because my ARC port is in use by a device, only have three HDMI on TV and they are all in use). The beam is in the same room as my router and Sonos Bridge (4-5mtrs away). I also have two Play 1's paired to the Beam for surround sound (they are a couple of years old). The issue I am having is that every 2-3 days the Beam appears to lose connection to the network. It plays audio from the TV but we cannot change the volume with the TV remote and when we go in to the Sonos app, the room is missing. We restart the Beam and everything works again. When we restart the Beam it also turns the TV off (remember connected by Optical no ARC). I'm not sure where to start with troubleshooting, everything is up-to-date, WiFi signal is great and we have a good internet connection. Never had any issues with Sonos in other rooms disconnecting and needing to be reboot
Please help! The Problem: I am trying to add a new share to my iPad Sonos application, but cannot get it to link to my raspberry pi to play music. I have loaded SMB via My OSMC and can play music from the Pi on my PC via my wired network. Also, I have FileBrowser on my iPad and can play music from the raspberry on this too. I have enabled UPnP on the Pi and my Sonos speakers are recognised in the Add Music browser The Pi is called 'mediacenter', the HDD My Book and the file 'Music'. I thought the path should be: \\mediacenter\My Book\Music, but this and every conceivable combination doesn't work, (with or without a space between My Book). I have tried using passwords, osmc/osmc & pi/raspberry and also using the Pi's IP Address. I have tried every conceivable combination - what am I doing wrong!! The equipment: Raspberry Pi Model 3 B+, (running a new install of OSMC), My Book HDD, (not my Cloud) connected via USB directly to the Pi
hello I'm about to purchase a SONOS AMP - I'm using it to connect my B&W speakers, subwoofer and turntable to my Sonos system. i'll be using it with both Airplay 2 and the Sonos App. My question is - Which surround speakers should I buy? Sonos play:1 or Sonos one? I believe the former will work as a surround group using Airplay for music? what about Spotify Connect? documentation is slightly spotty here.
I use folders for my playlists in Spotify. I have collected a lot of public playlists and put them in a variation of playlist folders. When Sonos does not support these folders, the list of playlists get rather long. This should be fixed!
Thought I'd start a conversation to help other Rako users and the Sonos community to dismistify the setup. To control Sonos speakers from a Rako Controls keypad, you'll need a Rako Bridge and Rako Cloud Gateway (includes an Audio Control Module license) which combined discover and communicate locally to the Sonos speakers. You then need to register your Cloud Gateway at my.rakocontrols.com. Once the Cloud Gateway is configured, you can create a MyRako Sonos activity containing input mappings to control Sonos favourites, setting volume, changing tracks, etc. To give you a scenario for this, I've converted my garage to a gym. In the garage I have a Play 3 and Rako keypad to control the lighting. I got fed up with having to use my phone's Sonos or Spotify app to control the music. So I mapped the garage keypad so that when "1" (scene 1) is pressed the lights come on AND a Sonos favourite is selected on the Play 3. When "Off" is pressed, the lighting goes off and the Play 3 is paused
Good morning everyone, I'm buying an apartment with my girlfriend and we'll move in in next months. As with big living rooms (not so big) come great responsibilities i'm starting to look around how to disposive my media setup. FYI I currently have a playbar (love it) + a sub (love it even more) and i'm consireding expanding with a pair of sonos one (can't wait). I'm also willing to upgrade my tv and purchase a new 55' of some kind (potentially an LG). As i'm watching for a new TV, I happened to came across the samsung studio stand (for those who don't know it here's a picture)...and I don't know why but i really really liked it. The one drawback is that you have to use a samsung TV (and just some specific models to use it). So I started looking for alternatives, that could maybe fit my playbar as well. And I found this one: SO...this could be it. But I still need to find a way to fit my playbar. Thus I came across two wall mounts stands that could be com
Hi, I'd like to ask some opinions about my Living Room / Kitchen setup. I know a couple of people have asked similar questions, so apologies for the redundancy! I've attached a sketchup of our open plan combined Kitchen / living. It's quite a large space at 6m wide by about 13m long. At the bottom of the drawing the RHS leads to an open hallway. At the top the glass doors open onto a back deck. Unfortunately there's a lot of hard and reflective surfaces, particularly around the kitchen (shiny doors, marble bench, floordboards etc). The living room is a little better as it has a couch and rug, but there's still a lot of glass and bare floorboards. Ideally what I'd like to get out of the space is to feel the nice warm sound that I fell in love with when I bought a Play:1 and put it in my small bedroom. I actually love the treble and the highs in music the most, but it's not the same without the depth and warmth of the bass. In terms of music I'll listen to almost anything rangi
I have 3 Sonos Play5 and they all used to work. Suddenly, one stopped working, for no obvious reason. When I try to reconnect it, I get an exclamation point and a message that my Sonos product is not found and asking me to move it closer to the router. The speaker is right next to the router, while my 2 others are much farther away. What gives? I tried a Hard reset with no success
Is there a way I can manipulate the Sonos app so I can use my headphones -- instead of the speakers?
I (after allowing a couple months pass by) reconnected my 2018 65in LG straight to Playbar...lipsync issues gone...there was a software update over this time from LG. Setup: optical to tv...Xfinity box to TV HDMI non ARC...Xbox One to TV ARC.
Full integration between Google Home and Sonos One
Hopefully a simple novice question but one I can't see an answer to. The new Sonos Amp allows 2 stereo sets of speakers to be connected to it, so 4 speakers in total. Will this result in lower volume or inferior quality than with just one pair?
I just downloaded the controller app for Mac and it crashes before it even opens. I get a message that "Sonos Quit Unexpectedly." What should I do?
The new Sonos Controller app for Windows doesn't remember the window location anymore, meaning that every single time I open the app I have to drag it back to where I want it. Can this please be added back in? Thanks.
FINALLY! Prayers have been answered.. There is no longer a need for the Sonos controller for general playback control on iOS! Between Siri Shortcuts and IFTTT integration, you can turn an old iOS device into a standalone remote controller. Use IFTTT to create all your actions. Join the IFTTT maker platform and you can create multiple actions for one trigger. Siri Shortcuts allows you to make custom buttons and add them to your homescreen. You can also setup Siri commands for full voice control over your system! Available IFTTT actions are: Play, Pause, Resume, Skip forward, Skip back, Play Favorite, Play Stream, Volume Up, Volume Down, Set Volume, Mute, & Unmute Any of these actions can be tied to a button on the home screen, and with the maker platform you can create even more custom buttons with multiple actions. For example, a button to 'Play a Favorite @ Volume Level 20 in the whole household. Use Webhooks as the trigger and Sonos as the action, just setup a webhook
I'm about to order a sonos beam, and two Sonos Ones to use as rears. I was also going to get a sonos connect so i could run my record player via my receiver into the connect. But I've just read the Sonos Beam has an optical input. Could this be used instead if my record player had optical out? I suspect not but does anyone know for sure? Would be amazing if it could!
I connected one of my Sonos Play5's to my computer via the line-in headphone jack. I have 2 other Play5's and a bridge. Those other 2 Play5's not connected to the headphone jack very rarely produce sound consistently. This is a really bad problem for me considering that I play all sporting events and video thru my computer. I'll have guests over to watch a game, and 2 of my relatively expensive Sonos speakers constantly flicker in and out so bad that I just have to turn them off and hardwire other speakers. What I've tried: rotating the speakers, disconnecting/reconnecting, removing all components and re-adding all components in the Sonos program. The router is not near any of my Sonos components. I'm not running other programs that take bandwidth, and if I'm streaming something online, the video will continue to work while the sound cuts out. I have a 110mbps connection. Thanks for the help. -Kevin
At my previous house, I had Sonos CONNECT with a wired amplifier and wired speakers throughout the house in the ceiling (whole house wired music). My new house does not have the wired speakers, but I was able to bring the CONNECT and amplifier with me. Can I get wireless speakers or would I need to get a new wireless amplifier?
In response to @avela13 on Twitter: http://twitter.com/avela13/status/390484096830291969 @Sonos would it be possible to add a feature where you could assign a playlist or favorite to play/mute button when pressed and held down?
Has anyone had any luck with a record player and Sonos Beam via optical? I have recently purchased a Project Essential 2 Digital and I am struggling to get the audio to play successfully on my Beam. I have connected the HDMI to optical lead that came with the Beam into the record player's optical out. The sound comes through, however it comes through intermittently. It will play for a second then cut out for a second and so forth. If possible I would like to avoid purchasing a Connect and spend the money on some Play 1s instead. Sorry if I am spamming anyone, I have posted this another person’s question. Any info appreciated. Tommy
Hi there. My wife and I are debating whether to buy into the Sonos eco system or not. So far, we have decided that we really need a dedicated remote control with easy button-based access to presets/favorites (since the devices themselves don't have such buttons for some reason). Physical buttons are just easier when you want to play certain radio stations or playlists! We have all sorts of devices - iPads, iPhones - even some to spare - but they just can't compete with real buttons, that you just click... and boom, music plays. Right now, we have borrowed a Play:5 from a family member, and the sound is decent... but... no preset buttons. I've tried to read about iPort Xpress, Creston, Insteon, Control4... but I really want to hear from some of you who have first hand experience with devices such as those? Do they work? Are there show stopping issues?... Best, Thomas
