Ive just bought a beam and it’s great. But I’m surprised that it’s quite fiddly to enable “reduce loud sounds” or “speech enhancement”. From what I can see they stay enabled when selected, but that then means you have to remember to switch them off when not needed. I’d like these to work more like settings on a mobile phone - ie based on either time of day or with some sort of scheduling option like night modes in many iOS apps. Personally I’d have both options enabled from 7pm to 7am.
Hi, I have recently moved to a house that has 8 wired ceiling speakers (all 8 ohm) and would like to incorporate them into my Sonos set up. I bought a Connect:Amp, which allows me to use 4 of these speakers but I was wondering is there anyway I can get all 8 working off one Connect:Amp? In other posts on this topic (e.g. https://en.community.sonos.com/components-228996/number-of-speakers-a-connect-amp-powers-6793754) I have seen mentions of "Impedance Matching Speaker Switches" though I am not sure if this will allow me to use all 8 speakers at once or just to switch which 4 are working at any one time. Any advice that you could give me would be greatly appreciated, if you are referring to particular types of products (like the Impedance Matching Speaker Switches mentioned above) it would be great it you could also link examples. As a note I am UK based.
Doctor Sonos here. Remember me? You surrendered control of your teeth when you gave me money for "fillings" last year. Your fillings are totally under my control. They won't work any more until you accept my latest terms. Without my consent, they remain in your head but you can only use them as long as you agree to my shifting conditions. I alone decide when your teeth stop working and need an "upgrade". Your consent is irrelevant, really. Get over it. You can't chew until you install my latest remote control software, sorry for the inconvenience. But really I have your best interests - and those of me - and my marketing partners at heart. We can monitor what you eat, and how often you chew. For altruistic reasons, really. Trust me, I'm a doctor. Oh, and eat this cookie. That's an order, or I won't speak to you any further. There, that's better. Now go ahead and click on the upgrade. It's the path of least resistance. I'm a doctor - trust me.
HI friends, I have purchased Sonos Bar, Woofer and two back speakers and made 5.1 wireless home theater. I have a 140 Inc projector screen at my house. I have couple of questions. 1) Could you please help me to find out the right projector compatible with Sonos? 2) If i found some thing compatible with Sonos do i need to buy any sonos connect to use my existing 5.1 speakers?
Have 2 Play 5's in my system and one is cutting Bass in/out intermittently. Turning up the volume seems to keep the bass on. This problem only started happening yesterday and the speaker is 9 months old
Hello, I'm interested in the best sound, not price, as we're building a home, and I want to do it right. I have the option to install a pair (or any amount really, but a pair for comparison's sake for this post) of the new in-wall sonance speakers, along with an amp in my garage, or hang a pair of play:5's on the wall. Which combo will have the more robust, loud sound, assuming they're both detailed Sonos audio I'm used to? There aren't many comparisons or reviews yet on the in-wall units, so I'm looking for some Sonos staff to chime in here. I'm thinking in-wall vs in-ceiling units so the sound travels out of the garage a little, lets say if im washing my car in the driveway, and since the garage is rather wide (3 car) and not that tall, i think it will fill the space better if the speakers were projecting horizontally. Also, i'll most likely put a sub in the garage as well.
I am playing music from My Music (purchase iTunes music) on the iPhone and Sonos will not play the entire songs. It just skips to the next song. Very frustrating.
Anyone have a beam in a bigger room? Currently using a Playbar, Sub, and 2 Play 3's in my great room - 20" X 20' with 18' ceilings and open to kitchen, etc... Current setup sounds excellent.. Use for both music and TV. I would like to buy a Beam for and swap it with the play Bar in great room, (to utilize HDMI ARC and Apple play) and then move the Playbar to my bedroom 14' X 14' with 8' ceiling (TV in there does not have HDMI ARC) for TV use with a couple play 1's I have. Would the Beam still sound good in my Great room, or will I have significant loss of sound quality? (I'm sure I could turn down sub and surrounds to balance volumes, but what about quality? Will the sub make up for the less bass of the beam, or will I miss the mids that the Play Bar offers? Adversely, would the Play Bar, with 2 Sonos Play 1's in my bedroom be too much? If I could swap the features of the Playbar and Beam this would be easy, but now I have a quagmire on my hands. Anyone
Yes I have read many other topics and comments regarding 5.1 setup and yes I understand that a Beam/Playbar/Playbase is designed as a 3.0 speaker. BUT I honestly don't understand why I can't add 2 additional speakers, e.g. Play 5 as an additional stereo pair. I own a Playbase and a SUB (and 2 Play 1 as surround speakers). The Playbase is so smart, it has appropriate software, that it detects that a SUB has been added and reduces the bass and/or concentrates on the mid tones. The same could work with 2 additional speakers in the front area, so that the Playbase becomes a real center. Yes, I also understand that something similar might work by grouping. But that's not a real 5.1, where the signals are split accordingly. Apart from the inconsistency that results from the different latencies of the loudspeakers. With HDMI ARC (e.g. with the Beam), longer latencies shouldn't be a problem anymore, as the SONOS speakers can take enough time to buffer or process the signal and communica
Guys we have a long established Sonos network. As part I use a ZP90 (which) is hardwired to the router to drive a B&W zeplalin speaker. This speaker is the least used in the house. In trying to use it yesterday it did not appear as a speaker in the Android app. So i have tried to add it (as a connect as ZP90 not listed as an option) i have tried new ethernet cable, no eithernet cable, power cycles and a factory reset (which it does not seem to do as no lights on front). Any suggestions? On a side note the system did a wobble yeaterday, loosing all conectivity requiring speakers to be re added, by hardwire of one speaker to the router. I mention this as the ZP90 was the original hardwired connection (yes i know this not required for some time but it is an old setup). This may be indicative of the ZP90 dying and a new mesh being required.
Love the system, but I wish... When you're in shuffle and click NEXT to skip the current song, I wish it would automatically fade out the current song before skipping to the next for a more seemless listening experience.
Anyone know where I can go online to stream a 5.1 Audio test? I have found videos on YouTube but in-spite of them claiming to be multi-channel Youtube seems to spit them out in stereo. Well at least on my system.
Currently, Tidal artists are listed in the order they were added to favorites rather than alphabetically. This makes it very difficult to find a particular artist when scrolling though hundreds of artists. This problem should be easy to correct. Bluesound lists artists in alphabetical order.
I haven't been using the OS X desktop for a while because you all crippled it and made the UI impossible to read. I understand that the 20 year-olds love their 'night mode', but a lot of the rest of us can NOT read the text when it's white on black/dark background. Everything is double-vision when it's like that. It's not usable. I work on my mac. I shouldn't have to use the tiny phone interface for sonos, when I'm sitting working on my mac. It needs to have full functionality and a usable UI. When will this be fixed?
Hello, since I have upgraded my sonos system to 10.1 Smartthings integration is not working. Could you please fix this? Thanks
This may sound like a bizarre requirement but I like to drift off to sleep at night with the music on very low. I find the Play:1 just a bit too loud on its lowest setting, even with the bass & treble dropped down and the loudness off. Is there any other possible way of making it any lower? Thanks
For some reason the latest app version stopped my 4S from accessing and controlling my speakers. I have always used this old phone to stream music but now I get the black screen telling me the version is not compatible. The app really should be backward compatible. Please correct. Or enable going back to previous version.
In my lounge I have a playbar linked to my TV (by optical) with two play:3 as surround sound speakers. The TV also has a google chromecast. I have strange effects happening which might relate to the impending google home integration release but I am not part of that beta as yet ..... If I ask google home to play music from spotify to my chromecast it play the music on the playbar and the play:3 speakers remain silent or almost so (probably is surround sound mode). If I stop google home playing and use Sonos to play music to this 'room' then the play:3 speakers play the music as well as the playbar. If I then stop the Sonos sourced music and then ask Google Home to play music to the chromecast again then the Play:3 speakers play the music at the same volume that Sonos was playing them at. Also if, whilst Google Home music is playing, I group two rooms in my Sonos app (2nd room has another play:3) then the Google sourced music plays in the second room which it would normal
I have brought my Sonos system into a new home already fitted with a Legrand OnQ Cat5 LyriQ whole house sounds system. I have four areas served by this system including an outdoor, covered deck - the system seems to use a line in signal which is amplified at each location through an amp built into the wall control. Getting support from Legrand on this system has been an exercise in futility. What I'm wondering is if I need a Connect or a Connect:Amp for this system to stream music to these non-Sonos areas? My instinct tells me its a Connect only, but I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with a similar system - past whole house systems I had needed to be amplified at the source which was then connected to the whole house speaker selector, not this one.
I have just bought the excellent Sonos Beam and will shortly add 2 x Play:1 for surround sound. However, the Sonos sub is beyond my budget. I have a perfectly good Cambridge Audio sub from my old set up (and an old Onkyo amp). I know it's not straightforward but is there any way I could link the Beam to the C.A. sub? I did see this post on a U.S. site. I wondered if anyone on here had tried anything similar?...................... Since the Beam uses HDMI for its audio your TV likely has a free optical out port. Using the optical out port connect a 5.1 Audio Sound Decoder Converter to 5.1CH Analog Audio (6RCA Output). I used this one here: https://amzn.to/2rSx5T6 All you need to do is connect your RCA cable to subwoofer connection on the box and you have bass for under $50!
I mounted my Sonos Play 1 directly to my garage door opener. Why? Why not 🙂 The garage sounds great now! I used a #20 `1/4 inch machine screw and a couple of lock washers. Very easy to do.
So I have not purchased anything yet but this is what I want to do. I am building a smart home with alexa. I want to connect the Sonos Beam with a 4k projector (Optomo UHD60) which does not have a HDMI Arc. The projector needs to be connected with a PS4 Pro and a set top box, both use HDMI. How can I achieve this? Hard wiring is not an issue.
Hi! My wife can’t play via Airplay 2 the Centr App (meditations sessions). It plays fine on Apple TV. Is there something, what we don't know, how to play it to Sonos One? When she choose the room (Bedroom), it's just a silence. I tried to help her, but I can't. No ideas, what we need to do. Please help with that. There's a ten - minute meditation of the night, which we would like to hear through Sonos One.
What is the purpose and why is my sonos speakers & bridge sending data to locations in Virginia?
Hi I have 2 areas of questions. Using the Sonos app with multiple users 1. Would you recommend Sonos for an office of 10-14 people? 2. Does the app work fine with multiple users able to queue songs/albums after each other? 3. Does everyone use their own spotify/google play account or can you share each others or use a joint account? What speakers? This is our floor plan: I'm thinking of A. 1x play 5 and 2x play 1's B. 3/4x play 1's and a sub C. Something else? (Would likely put a play 5 or sub near the printer (wired in for better connection) and have the play one's on the opposite wall) I'm quite sold on the play 5 after hearing it in store next to a play 1. It was waaay better! Another benefit of the play 5 is it could be taken away and used as a standalone unit if needed. Not so easy with sub and play 1s
