It's been several years that I have asked Sonos about adding a 12 Volt DC Trigger or Changing the Standby Light or Standby Voltage so that End Users with External Amplifiers can have a reliable method of turning on and off the external amplifier when not in use. Niles makes devices that can measure lights on devices that trigger the amp but Sonos light doesn't change enough when it's in Standby mode. Same thing with Xantech, SpeakerCraft, Furman and other companies that make similar control devices! I know I am not alone with this request, maybe if there is enough discussion here in the forum we can collectively get results!
This is probably mostly of interest to those in the UK, because that's where the prices are relevant. Consider this a pubic service announcement :) I had a spare Connect:Amp after buying one of the new Amps. It was sitting forlornly in its box, so I was looking for a pair of relatively compact and inexpensive speakers to partner it with, to return it to usefulness. I settled on a pair of Q Acoustics Concept 20s, and I ordered a pair without listening to them beforehand. (Yes, I know.) They arrived today, and I'm really, properly impressed with the sound quality of the resulting system. They're a perfect match for the Connect:Amp's power (and more than loud enough for me), and if you buy the white version they're also a perfect match aesthetically, with their white and aluminium construction. In my view, this system is something of an excellent audio bargain, with the Connect:Amp discounted at £399 and the speakers discounted at £279. You're getting a lot of sound quality plus Son
Please support keyboard shortcuts in the macOS controller app Given that the app is the currently playing media application: Spacebar: toggle play/pause Cmd + Up/Down arrow: increase/decrease volume Cmd + Left/Right: Previous/Next track Mac's media playback buttons should also work as expected
As an owner of two Play 3's should I be worried Sonos software will not support them in the near future. I see everybody is replacing the 3's for 1's or One's. I absolutely love the sound they produce and I think it would be a step back if I replace them with the smaller speaker. What do you think? Neven
Halfway through my trueplay tuning while walking around the room, the app stops and reports a “lost speaker.” I can’t finish the tuning repeatedly. My sub and playbase are both functioning. Any ideas? I’m on iPhone X and iOS 11.4. Thanks
My play5 gen2 stopped connecting to the WiFi in the house recently. I contacted Sonos and sent them 2 diagnostics. Very quickly got a response from Sonos for a return and replacement of the Play5. 2 weeks later, just set up my new speaker today and very happy with the level of service (Play5 was purchased in feb17). I wonder why the WiFi cards seem to be failing on these units given that they were released on sep15? Are there any stats on failure rates of Sonos devices? Never had any problems with my play1’s, playbar or sub.
Why does SONOS force me to do updates? Nearly EVERY update I do fails and I spend about 1 hour then, re-booting, routers, Wi-Fi, my 11 Sonos components. It's a lie that this takes 2-3 minutes. It may do when it works with 1-2 components but not with more (shall we say) fully invested customers. I tried this morning, and it failed. I do NOT need to do this update - I do not want, and will not buy a Beam, so please leave me alone please to enjoy Sonos. SONOS's arrogant update policies are driving me away from Sonos. Even Apple doesn't force people to update. I cannot control Sonos currently from my devices (only the Computer). Stop it. I am the customer, and I bought a working product. It's not working now on my devices due to SONO's stupid and arrogant policy. I used to love Sonos, and, when it works it's great, BUT, I would only recommend Sonos now to anyone who is prepared to be forced to update software AND to suffer the consequences of failures if there is an upgrade.
Sonos just announced three (3) new products namely the Move and One SL speakers; as well as the Port the successor to the Connect. I’m not going to talk about how great the new products are as you can read that for yourself. However, some may be saying to themselves…"Wow those are great additions to the Sonos line-up; but I already have Sonos speakers and/or a Connect so I can’t justify the additional purchase". Well here’s something that may just ease the pain (and your conscience) to make that buying decision and that is to Up-Trade. Up-Trading is taking an existing Sonos product and using it to offset the cost of the Sonos product you’d like to own. I’ve done it twice since the introduction of the Sonos Move and Port. First, understand that Sonos products really do hold their value. In my experience on average one can expect to recoup anywhere from 50 to 60 percent of the original purchase price. My examples involve two Play 3’s (that were not in use) and a Connect that I Up-trad
Hi all, i currently live in a 6 story apartment with an open floor concept (living room, kitchen and dining room combined). i have a beam attached to the tv with 2 Sonos Ones for surround sound. I just bought a Play 5 for the kitchen. My question: Would the Play 5 give enough sound quality and separation in the space or should I just get another Sonos One for the kitchen. I’ve provided photos for a point of reference.
Well, I am so interesting in a 5.1 speakers to cinema, music and streaming. I love Sonos sound, but trust me, only Toslink/optical in playbar/base currently is difficult to understand. Oh yes! “Sonos is intended to streaming”, but well, most streaming services stream in DD+, and again, this format is not supported by Sonos as HDMI is also needed. WHY DOES NOT SONOS UPGRADE PLAYBAR/BASE TO HDMI AND DD+ SUPPORT? 2,000€ for an outdated 5.1 Sonos setup?? Harman/Kardon Citation series is similar in price and has much better conectivity even sound. For that price, in addition to Harman, Senheisser Ambeo Soundbar or Klipsch Reference Wireless are difficult to beat. But well, Sonos does not upgrade to HDMI & DD+ its flagship Playbar/base. I really do not understand why Sonos is not moving forward. ANY CONVINCING EXPLANATION SONOS? PS: I know beam has hdmi but neither support DD+, and it is not suitable for large rooms.

I have 2 Sonos One's and a Beam in my Bedroom. While I have it in Surround Sound mode for watching TV in the Bedroom, we also listen to Audiobooks at night and while I prefer it louder, wifey prefers it more quiet, so the best option we figured out was to play it only on the Sonos One on my Side and we're all happy. So every night, I have to break up my surround speakers, and then play the sound on the one speaker next to me, and then the next day put them back together. Basicly, allow us to either have multiple scenes, or let us import a speaker multiple times or give us a solution to play something only on the selected speakers. Best Regards Menaxerius

Hello, my sonos beam ARC cord is not quite long enough to properly plug into my TV. Is there an extension available?
Very interested in the Move speaker. I will buy when it comes with HomeKit / Siri. Any idea when that will be?!
Are there any plans to release a new Player/Playbase with HDMI ports?
Can this be done? Will it sound the same in stereo? I don’t need two microphoned speakers surely.
With the forthcoming deletion of the ability to play music on Sonos directly from iPhones/Pads, Airplay 2 is widely being seen as a solution. Before investing to bring in that ability via new Sonos hardware as opposed to the more straightforward route of adding a NAS, some questions perhaps need to be answered; questions that arise from not so good experiences with Airplay as it existed before Airplay 2 was released. Is music play via Airplay 2 to a target Sonos speaker as stable as it is via the "On this Phone" route it is seen to replace ? Is such music play to a group of speakers also just as stable? Is music play in both modes above as stable as it is via Sonos net? Can two phones on the same WiFi network simultaneously stream music each contains via Airplay 2 to unique Sonos speakers in two different rooms? Can the phones be used as such when music is being streamed from them? Either via the existing feature or via Airplay 2? These are questions that come to my mind, perha
The Sonos Amp was designed to be stackable. I was hoping the new Sonos Port would be designed to also be mix-and-match stackable (in an install with multiple Amps and Ports). Unfortunately that does not appear to be true, as the physical dimensions of the Port are quite different from (smaller than) the Amp. The Port FAQ is silent about this matter. So, Sonos, what’s the recommended way to install multiple Amps and Ports in a stacked but not rack mounted configuration? Thanks. (P.S. Also a bit surprised to see there is only coax, not optical, digital output.)
Hello, Do you guys provide a solution for a portable speaker (charging and then use it anywere wirelessly via wifi)? Thanks, Jordi
Sonos! What did you do?!?! When is this going to be fixed? From Savant: Field Impact Notice Sonos Software Update 10.1 Causes Savant Integration to Become Inoperable Document Date: April 3, 2019 Document Supports: da Vinci 8.x, 9.x Issue Summary: On April 3rd, 2019, Sonos released 10.1 which causes Savant integration to become inoperable. Others have asked how to turn off a SONOS speaker (I have 5 Play1 + a connect). The responses were all assuming the REASON to want to turn off the speakers was power use. There are other reasons to want to do so. This morning, SONOS just would not cooperate / connect to anything. Rebooting the WIFI router (SONOS pop-up suggesting the fix) is a heavy handed approach effecting everything in the house. At one point I had music playing and unresponsive SONOS controller on both desktop and Android. The fix was to shut all the speakers off and let them reconnect. My approach has been to use a power strip for combos of speakers .. but I have one speaker in my office that is plugged in behind a big desk. Would be great to have a POWER SWITCH! Reboots do wonders to fix many problems.
Hi everyone! I'm looking to buy a Sonos Beam to get the surround option for my Sonos system. Sonos supports surround in the form of the soundbar doing the FR, center and FL channels, and pairing up with two speakers as RR and RL. They don't support separate front speakers. I was wondering, why has no one grouped that "room" with another "room" consisting of a stereo pair, and then using that stereo pair as "real" FR and FL speakers? Could anyone try that for me, because I would like to know if it just works and if there's any trouble. It should be possible since you can pass along the stereo signal from the Beam to another room, and this would be fitting for the front channels. I wan't to space out the left and right front channels really far, so please don't tell me that "the soundbar spaces it out enough" 😃 That would give me "real" 5.1, but the front left and right would be doubled. Thanks a lot, appreciate your time in advance. EDIT: I contacted Sonos via Twitter,
Ya know how we have the option for full stereo or ambient when listening to music in a full 5.1 sonos stet-up? Can we get that with TV output as well, please? There is still plenty of content that is stereo output on many internet streams and traditional media. Having full stereo helps create an enveloping sound field when outputted via the playbar and the surrounds.
Has anyone in the US got one of these yet? They replace light switches and can control Sonos amongst other things. UK release is hoped for 2018. https://www.brilliant.tech
