There was an attempted burglary on my house last week, and I'm confident they knew I had Sonos equipment and cased my house specifically to steal it. I have a ring doorbell video of a guy come up to my front porch with a crowbar at 1:40PM in broad daylight, with two guys in the background -- one small enough to fit through my small windows and another to stay on the lookout. The windows were locked and apparently the burglars were not able to pry them open and not willing to break them in broad daylight. I posted the video on Ring and did contact the police. I am in the process of beefing up security at my house. My Sonos speakers are the only high value items in the house that a thief could easily use/sell after stealing. Sonos items could fit through a small window after simply unplugging them from the wall. I purchased them within the last year. I used the Enjoy service and I am suspicious someone who had access to their records tipped off the burglar. Sonos -- you need to fix
Heads up. The paint on the black Sonos MOVE easily comes off. We have had it around the house under normal use. This is the result. I recall in the demos the drop and water effect. I struggle to understand why the paint falls off. Support said this was cosmetic and not their problem. Hard pill to swallow Sonos. Letting everyone know to be careful with Sonos “rugged” device that is designed to “move”. 🙁
"Response from Neil Young Archives on adding their service to Sonos - NYA music files are all master quality, ranging from 44.1kHz/16-bit to 192kHz/24-bit. Unfortunately, Sonos does not support the playback of hi-res audio and so NYA is not currently compatible with it. We'd certainly consider it though if the situation changes- and feel free to contact Sonos directly to let them know you'd appreciate this feature!"
Has anyone else noticed Sonos Move sound drop outs (for 2-3 seconds). It's happening through both WiFi and Bluetooth. On WiFi if the Move is grouped to other speakers they all cut out as well.
Should I switch to the apple Homepod? it seems like the Homepod has superior sound than the Sonos One, and maybe later on apple will release more speaker for whole house audio like sonos? I just don’t want to buy a sonos product and only get support for 5-7 years. Their stuffs are really expensive.
Has Sonos figured out how to block users on the same wifi from using my system that doesn’t involve putting them on a guest network? This seems like such an easy fix by adding a password or settings to restrict what others on the same network can or can’t do.
I have 3 connects - one to a big system and one to really nice dedicated eadphone setup. 2 Sonos amps, two Play3s, one Play5, and one Playbar for my t.v. (probably my favorite). As you can see, I’m totally in on Sonos. They all work well. I have been wondering about a next upgrade. When I look at the weakest in the chain - it seems to be my connects even though they all go into current DAC’s (two even are re-clocked with Empirical Audio devices). I’m eyeing an Allo DigiOne Signature for $500 (server with no amp). BUT to go in, I must replace the software that accesses it all. Next up seems to be Roon. Quite a big investment but am willing to do it. My big question is - how fast is the Roon interface with a really good core. Is it as fast at accessing tracks? Is it as fast or even faster?
Does anyone see the value in adding a SONOS SUB to a stereo pair of GEN 2 PLAY: 5's? I've been told that the DSP / crossover functionality of adding the sub to this set would lighten the low end load of the PLAY: 5's, allowing them to more powerfully and clearly produce the mids and highs. My specific questions: 1. Are there really high and mid frequency benefits to be gained from allowing the sub to handle the low end? Or would the sub just handle the low end, while the highs and mids on the PLAY: 5's sound exactly as they did without the SUB? 2. The pair of PLAY: 5's already deliver substantial bass, so are there even more substantial / noticeable gains to be had from adding the SUB? Or do 2 PLAY: 5's roughly equal the low end output of 1 SUB? I consider myself a very lightweight audiophile, so I would love to gain more clarity and power if adding the SUB can achieve this, but I do not want to waste the money, if the stereo pair can provide roughly the same clarity an
I just recently bought a new Sony television. I've been able to get the remote that comes with it to control the volume on my Playbar if I disable the bluetooth, but doing so disables the voice control for the remote. Is there a work around to use the Bluetooth connection on the remote, but still have volume control of my Playbar that anyone knows of? And, yes, I have gone through the Sonos app and tried adding the remote. Same issue, with Bluetooth, it won't recognize it, but with that disabled, it does. I basically need a way to run Bluetooth and IR simultaneously, it seems.
This looks interesting https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2019/9/12/20862236/ikea-cheap-sonos-remote-control-date-price The small controller works like this: Push it down once to pause, again to play; push two or three times to skip tracks forward and back; or rotate the dial to the left or right to decrease or increase the volume. It works on a table or wall thanks to an included magnetic mount. https://www.ikea.com/fr/fr/p/symfonisk-telecommande-volume-noir-40433780/ Works with any Sonos speaker according to above IKEA page. You also need the Gateway @ £20 so at a total cost of £35 this seems like a steal compared to the extortionate iPort Express product.
How do I rename a speaker from bedroom to den via my windows computer ?
hello everyone now I'm going crazy, when I use netflix by setting the high quality of streaming I can't hear the dialogue the voice of the speech well .. I activated the dialogue improvement from the app but I don't like it, I always have to be with the remote control in the hand to raise and lower the volume, speaking with netflix assistance they explained that most of them are in Dolby Digital Plus, DTS in fact and how the central channel of the playbase was missing https://help.netflix.com/en/node/14163
I’ve invested about $2500 into Sonos equipment in the past two years and have been trying to live the best life with streaming through my house, but also using them as computer speakers in my office. This was complicated and required buying the new Amp to forward the line-in to drive my Play:1s and Sub (which sound awesome, btw). And that works, functionally although it’s a bit awkward to start up every morning with the UI. I’ve been seriously considering buying a pair of Play:5s and their line-in to simplify my desk setup along with another Sub and Playbar for home theater… so that’s another $2500 in gear I was waiting to pull the trigger on. I figured I could use the Amp with some outdoor speakers later. But then Sonos makes their future intentions clear. Split systems are coming. Well, here’s what a split system looks like. I’ve still got Sonos throughout my house. It still continues to work exactly as it did before the announcement. But I just added a pair of KEF LS50 Wireless spea
I cannot articulate how unhappy I was to receive the email telling me that my SONOS amp connect purchased as state of the art in 2014 is now obsolete and will not receive updates. I have a playbar as well which operates on the same controller. i am not a very tech user and do not understand what the impact will be as I only watch tv and stream Spotify music services . i have been a real Sonos advocate and feel very let down. id welcome advice. yours Sam
Looking at identifying a traded and deactivated Sonos device I found this screen you can check, just replace the x.x.x.x with your IP address. Make sure to keep the http and the :1400 bits. Click the room name and then Zone Player Info to get this screen. You can see the status at the bottom, NONE means it hasn’t been traded. http://x.x.x.x:1400/support/review Traded and timer expired, deactivated. Still active and not traded unit:
I just received an email from the CEO of Sonos claiming that the older Sonos products will not be bricked, but will no longer receive updates. While i was originally concerned the first time i heard you will not be providing updates to older models, I am increasingly concerned that the my older and new Sonos products will likely no longer continue to work together. I don't know if Sonos realizes but its products are priced at the top of the market. There are many other options out there for wireless speaker systems. I purchased Sonos products for the streamlined integration of speakers across my home - not to have some work around or a split system. As someone who has enjoyed your products and continued to invest in them over the years, I am EXTREMELY disappointed to learn that the high end products I have purchased (and which are hardly old enough to be considered legacy technology) will not continue to work with the Sonos system. I can understand that their performance might not
As stated in the title I have three Play 5s (2 black, 1 white), having recently received the third from Adorama during their Black Friday sale. The first two I’ve been using (1, black, 1 white) for the past year have the same circular power cord, albeit in their respective colors. However, the third Play 5 that I just received came with a more flat (not circular) power cord. Does anyone know why this is? I also compared the back of each speaker and there are slight differences in the text right above and below the row of inputs (ethernet, line-in, sync button). I’m assuming that these differences are slight differences between production batches but can’t ay for sure. Perhaps important to note that ALL of the Play5s came brand new fully packaged, shrink wrapped and all. Questions: Which power cord version is the latest model? How can I tell which of the Play5s is the newer/older model? Should I be concerned/cautious about the differences between production batches/models? i.e. ar
I do hope guys over at Sonos are reading this. If there’s one thing that I feel is lacking from the brand, then it’s a cheaper alternative to the Sonos Sub. One that will fit well with a pair of Sonos One speakers, both in terms of sound and price. Sonso One is what got me into the brand. It’s compact and minimalist. Works well with every environment. While I do have the connect and (as far as I understand) could get a 200-300 quid subwoofer on amazon with no problems, they all look like trashy 90s boxes. Please Sonos, make a cheaper version of the Sonos Sub.
If you change your mind on the Trade Up program Sonos is NO HELP.. They Brick your equipment and say there is nothing they can do. Just because they have a poor process I am out of equipment and they have been no help to resolve.
Hi all, I have recently (2weeks ago) bought a pair of the Sonos play5 gen2 speakers. Using them as a stereo pair in a fairly large living room. I am now thinking of buying a Sonos sub to get some more low end base and clear up the midrange. But… When reading that Sonos is discontinuing some of their older products i am starting to hesitate whether i should purchase the Sub or not. The Sub was launched in 2012 in Sweden if I remember correctly and costs around 800 dollars here still. So it’s design is now 8 years old. 800 dollars is a hefty bunch of money to most, so I don’t really want to invest in a 8year old model to have it discontinued 6months later. What are your thoughts on the Sub and it’s now 8year old design? Will Sonos discontinue this as they did with the connect and play5 gen1 recently? Will there be another updated Sub to replace this soon? Do I dare to invest in this product? Regards:Kris
Anybody else a little bit infuriated by the latest e-Mail from Sonos about end of software updates. I think it’s crazy that because my Play 5 is “legacy” my Play 1, Play 3, Beam and playbar could be rendered useless unless I basically pay a ransom of £300 to replace it with a new one (taking into account the 30%). There should be a third option to be able to at least move your legacy system to a separate app or something so you can still at least make use of the rest of the system that most of us have spent hundreds of pounds building up. Rethink this Sonos or maybe I’ll also make a threat that I will start building up a Bose system instead.
Hi Sonos I am finding your trade up offer grossly unfair. Today you have informed us that our Play 5 Gen 1 are basically becoming obsolete! I own 2 of the above speakers and have loved them for many years. You are now asking loyal customers,in my position,to pay almost £750 to replace them(30% discounted). This doesn’t sound like a very good deal to me. My only option may be to sell my speakers privately so I can afford to buy a new system This ,however, would not be Sonos. Graeme
With the announcement that ‘legacy’ products will no longer receive updates and if you mix new ones with them, the new ones will not receive updates either, is it time to ditch Sonos altogether? I love Sonos products and have many of them. Several are linked to sound systems (home cinema, hifi, etc.) and I listen to music through those systems. But my wife prefers to listen through various Alex Echo devices that we also have. Whereas I say “Alexa, play Radio X on the front lounge” to get radio onto my front lounge hifi speakers, my wife just says “Alexa, play Radio X” to play it on the Echo Show in the same room. Obviously, the hifi speakers are superior. However, I cannot see what new features a Gen 1 Play:5, Connect and Connect:Amp will need in the future to continue to stream music and radio stations and therefore cannot understand why we can’t continue to use them. As a direct consequence of the shameful Sonos email, I am very seriously thinking of ditching Sonos entirely and have
I got an email today telling me that 11 of my 13 sonos devices were getting old and would no longer get updates. Really Sonos?! I bought some of the Connect’s only in the past couple years. Now you are telling me that they will soon stop working and getting updates?! Honestly I don’t care about the updates. My system works fine and does what I want, but I have a feeling that they will intentionally make it so that some streaming services will no longer be available. We are taking about streaming audio. It isn’t rocket science. A windows 95 computer can stream today’s audio. I spent thousands of dollars on your system. I really hope I don’t get screwed here.
Hello. i have just received a notification email indicating that my Play 5 and my Bridge will not be supported anymore. this is disappointing because it has only been 6 or so years that we have had these products. They work great and i see no reason to change. for arguments sake, say i do upgrade with the 30% discount what’s to say Sonos won’t do the same thing again in the same time frame? i would rotating sound equipment faster than it actually breaks just solely based on software obsolescence alone. this is highly disappointing. please comment as i would like to understand the rationale better. thanks please note, i really do appreciate the Sonos environment. Very well thought-out and works seamlessly with our streaming services. So i am not disappointed with the products. Just the managment of the downstream customer experience
