Hi,I was planning on buying an Arc to listen to music in my living room and to watch TV (65”). In other rooms that communicate with the living I could place other sonos speakers to play the same music. The only thing is that I realize I have no side walls in the living that the arc can use. On the left, the wall must be 8m away, on the other side 5m but the return path will be blocked. I suppose I would need front side speakers, but that is not supported ifaik. Rear speakers will probably help a bit but not a lot I suppose.I could opt for a standard home theatre setup from another brand with separate speakers and connect a port to listen to music. I am however afraid that this home theatre will cause latency due to processing when the same audio is played in the kitchen or office space. I could open the arc, disconnect the side speakers and connect separate ones…not sure if it has been done before and it is a bit scary...Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks
Hi all , finally got my beam gen 2 and 2 One SL surround speakers set up today , can I just ask , in the app if I turn off the surrounds they flash green , is it better when muting surrounds to toggle them off so they flash green or keep them toggled on but turn the surround volume to zero , thanks
Within the app there is no way that you can adjust volume from beam to rear speakers is there an easy way. Or should Sonos have a look at the app and include it. The current app is pretty basic. It doesn’t have much control Without have to change all your settings.
Hi there. I’m trying to have a mix of wired and wireless setup. Wondering if this setup is recommended? Or are there better ways?1. AMP > Ethernet port 1 > Arc > HDMI > TVAMP > Ethernet port 2 > Router Sub (wireless)AMP > two Sonos in-ceiling speakers
Hello I have a sonos bar which has worked fine until optical sound broker. I have purchased a analogue to digital converter plugged it into my jack output on my tv bust sound does not workis there a better option or will this just not work
I have a question about the sons arc in combination with the five I miss a stereo feeling with the arc is it possible to use the sonos five as a stereo in combination with the arc.
For our basement TV room, which is quite long but narrow (see pictures), I intend to use a Beam 2 sound bar resting in front of the TV. The smain viewing sofa is against the wall facing the TV, about 10 feet away.I am considering whether to supplement the bar with a pair of One SL speakers, which would rest on either side of the television. But there wouldn’t be much separation between the Beam and the SL’s -- would that be a waste of time, or would the SL’s meaningfully enhance the stereo and overall quality of sound? One option is to bore some holes in the dividers and place the speakers on the adjacent sections of the bookcase, providing more spatial separation for the three components. Would this make a meaningful improvement?I don’t want to place the speakers back against the wall with the sofa -- no outlets there and too much clutter. Thanks for any guidance!Albert
Hi I'm looking for some Bluetooth transmitters that work with the sonos move any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hi, I'm wondering does anyone have a sonos five s24 they could possibly take a voltage reading for me? or even circuit info which I have found to be a closely guarded secret!I need to know the voltage across the 3x 35v caps in the secondary, that's it.Thanks in advance!
Planning an Arc and a Sub for a living room. It’s new construction, so I have the option to run Cat 6 lines for each of them, going through my home LAN’s switch. Alternatively, I could have just the Arc wired, and leave the Sub to communicate over a dedicated Sonos wireless network. This document doesn’t even mention the wired LAN option, so hard to find good information about it:https://support.sonos.com/s/article/3235?language=en_US(What it calls “wired” is actually having a single Sonos device act as a wireless router.)My questions:Which approach would you prefer, if both are possible? With the Arc sitting on a stone mantel and the Sub under some cabinet shelves ~10 feet away, is there any risk that Sonos’s wireless will perform worse than wired ethernet? Or is there any risk that other LAN traffic will interfere with audio? All things being equal, I suppose not having a cable from the Sub plugged in to the wall is slightly easier, but it’s not hard to do if it will help...
Hello! I’m looking to upgrade my Sonos-setup in my living room. My use: I mainly use my Apple TV to play music from Apple Music - I do not use Sonos built in feature for this. Other then that I look at series from Apple TV+, Netflix etc. My setup in the living room today: Playbar + 2 Play:3 as surround speakers. This is connected to a Samsung Q70A-tv (2021) with an optical cable. The best solution: This would be just to get the Arc. Sadly, it seems to be pretty wide and I'm slightly worried that it wouldn't fit very good in my home. Alternative 1: Change my Playbar to Beam gen 2. How would the new Beam compare with my Playbar? Would I experience a huge improvement in sound quality and immersiveness with the Beam gen 2? Would Dolby Atmos work with the Beam gen 2 and the Play:3 as surround speakers?Alternative 2: Just add a Sub to my current setup? Would this be a more noticeable improvement than to change the Playbar? Thanks for all inputs!
I’m looking at expanding my Sonos system, with either a Roam or a Move speaker.I don’t want to hook up to Google or Apple, and want something that either doesn’t have a microphone or has the ability to disconnect or turn it off if it has one. Will either of these 2 speakers fit the bill? Also, it seem from the responses to my previous question, that I should be able to set this up independently from my other speakers. I’d like to be able to use this in the garage without inadvertently blasting the other speakers in the family room, so I’d prefer to set this up on its own system.
Hi. I’ve just had an LG C1 series OLED TV wall-mounted on a full-motion bracket in my living room (see pictures below), and I have ordered a Sonos ARC to mounts below it — but I’m having second thoughts about my decisions.1) The TV is a little bigger than I’d like for the space (though we’re going to try watching a movie on it tonight for the first time so the jury will be out). My main reason for choosing the 55” instead of a 48” was that I wanted to get the best sound solution, and the Arc appeared to be the best product for home theater (and I love my Play:5’s).2) Doing some further reading, I suddenly realized that my very open, very TALL living room setting may not even allow me to enjoy all the benefits of an Arc sound bar, as I won’t get the vertical sound bouncing off my ceiling? Would that be true?3) So I am weighing the option of swapping the TV for a 48” version and buying the Sonos BEAM Gen3 instead.4) In either case, my intention is to pair my two Play:5 speakers (which
I subscribed Amazon music, and evaluating Apple Music at the moment. In my living room I have 2 play:1 + Sub (gen 1) . I read a lot about streaming quality , and I wonder if to better use the improved quality of Amazon Hd or Apple lossless and Airplay 2 , the One will work better than the play :1 , or if both will be capped at the same level of bits/hzThanks !!Giovanni
Hi,I've recently switched over to Sonos and purchased a Beam (Gen2) and two One SL's (for surround). Everything sounds good except in one scenario. When playing music through Spotify or any music/radio app through my NVIDIA Shield, the audio quality from the rear speakers is very inconsistent. It sounds as if the volume of the rear speakers is constantly adjusting based on what's currently playing. To me it sounds as if when there are vocals in a song, the rear speakers are trying to suppress the sound but it's failing to do so, resulting in a very muddy sound quality and also heavily fluctuates in volume while doing so. This is very noticeable and a bit annoying. When playing music through the Sonos app this doesn't happen. So it appears this issue only occurs when playing music in "tv mode”, i.e. through an external device which is my NVIDIA Shield in this case. Playing music natively through the Sonos app produces great quality and both surround modes (ambient and full) work fine.Is th
We have just recently revamped our home network, per belowMain-LAN (192.168.100.0/24): Main Windows computers where I have sonos app installed. My iphone also connect to this LANIOT (192.168.107.0/24): For all of our smart things: Locks, Lights, AppleTV and Sonos OneI have read a few thread about how to configure the firewall to allow Sonos to be discovered. However, with the EdgeRouter 6P, I am quite new to the firewall rules but the basicsCould someone point me to the right direction?Thank you very much
Hi all,I quickly want to share my experience I have made over the weekend regarding my Sonos system playing songs from my NAS (Synology). I have setup the connection between the NAS and the Sonos system quite a while ago and have just used it seldomly. Now I wanted to play some songs again over last weekend and realized that the connection / integration did not work anymore. No clue since when it failed.I tried different options including deleting / recreating the connection, creation of new users on the NAS, changing the password of the users and so on. I found articles in the net giving me the hint to check that the NAS is set to support SMBv1; but this one was enabled.FINALLY I found one article that helped me to solve the issue: two main conditions are necessary to make it work again: SMBv1 must be supported / enabled and NTLMv1 (as authentication layer) needs to be enabled / supported as well. Caused by updates and a higher default security level on the NAS the NTLMv1 was not enab
Why does Sonos not support the controller for Mac (or Windows for that matter). All online help tells you how to do things on iOS or Android. I use Controller on my Mac, and I find it very irritating that Sonos won’t provide any online support for computer users.
Does anybody know how to or have experience in deciding how many speakers you need for a specific amount of room space. Speakers/square meter.I am deciding for our restaurant and would appreciate the help if someone has this experience of decision making.Thank you.
Found on another forum, but sure a lot of people would be happy if this is true. Read the bottom part of the picture.
I have a theater room now with a denon receiver / cd / phono. i would like to put 2 sonos speakers in kitchen. Be able to play simutanusly cd / phono and stream into denon.
Hi all , when I get my Sonos beam gen 2 and one SL speakers I'm going to use the trueplay , but my living room has the stairs in it , behind where I sit ! Will I need to go up the stairs a bit with the mic whilst tuning the Sonos ?? Thanks
Que tipo de cable HDMI trae Sonos ARC?
Does Sonos have any plan to allow its Users (Customers) to PASSWORD-PROTECT control of the App?This question has come up repeatedly from Sonos Customers, going back now over 8 years(!), yet it is always ignored by SONOS, or some diversion answer is given like “change your router” ...”hide your internet router password” ...”stop your guests using your internet” ...etc ...none of which truly solves the problem; a problem that I’m sure with all the tech expertise that SONOS has, just to simply password protect the app. Here’s a quick real example of how allowing access to my SONOS system by anyone with a SONOS app can be ...we had some friends staying. We didn’t give them access to our Sonos but they downloaded the SONOS app. Logged into our wi-fi (which of course I would give them as they need internet access for emails, etc) and they started using out SONOS at their whim. But it goes on - their son in another country logged into their Spotify, and started playing heavy rock, which (you
Hello,My Sonos ARC’s center speaker has a lot of bass distortion (crackling during bass heavy scenes, when playing back any material that is lossless (Dolby TrueHD and Atmos (TrueHD) from a Blu ray player, LPCM from a blu ray player, etc.). Playing back lossy material in Atmos, Dolby digital, Dolby Digital+ (such as an Apple TV 4k), does not present the same issue (clean audio). This is something that I either haven’t noticed before (I bought the ARC back in August of this year), or most recently became an issue (maybe due to a firmware update?).All components are connected to my LG 55 CX model (set to PASSTHROUGH), eARC HDMI out to the ARC. I have power cycled all components, used different HDMI cords, checked that all components and TV have the latest firmware, etc. Any help would be much appreciated. since most of my watching is with lossless audio. Thank you.
