Roam - On-line, then off-line. Lather, rinse, repeat.
I honestly do not understand what is wrong with my Roam. I have a pair of Play 1 speakers and a Connect:Amp, and none of them have the problems that the Roam has. The Roam is constantly falling off of the network. It disappears for weeks at a time, then returns and says it is off-line. How does the system know it’s there if it’s offline? A power cycle on the Roam and a reboot of the router help briefly, but then the problem returns -- the Roam has roamed away somewhere. I get that 2.4 GHz signal interruption and constrained bandwidth may cause connectivity glitches, but neither the Play speakers nor the Connect Amp have a problem adjusting to this. I have moved the Roam to the same room as the router, and it doesn't help. Also, I have not changed any router settings. It is seriously frustrating and infuriating to be forced to diagnose this problem every time I want to use the Roam. Other Sonos products just work, and work well, which is one reason I opted for the Roam as my third Sonos
Huge problem with Sonos
Previously my Sonos system was fine. I had an Arc joined with a Sub Gen 3 in a room. I then purchased to move’s and added them no problem. Things ran fine for several weeks. I then cahnged my modem to a newer Rogers Ignite modem. No problem, updated the network and everyting worked fine. Suddenly one of my moves looked like it was conected, solid white LED, but when looking at the system it showed Move L/? meaning that one of the Moves just didn’t seem to be reporting to the Sonos app although the LED light remained solid white. There was no sound from the one Move, the Arc, Sub 3 and other Move were fine. I am really so not impressed with Sonos at this point. I went and unistalled the app three times, restared my phone. It just keeps remembering the previous install it seems. I want to have the app be reinstalled so that I can begin adding all the products again, but you can’t. Products can’t be discovered even when powered on solid white lights, no system exists to forget. You can’t d

Has anyone had the same problem as me? do you know how to solve? thanks in advance to whoever answers me.p.s. any key I press nothing happens. I can't turn it on or off
error 30 on new roam - tried everything
Have no problems updating and using all other Sonos products. Got a new Roam today and it needs to install updates before it can be used. Tried multiple times. Takes forever and then comes back with Error 30. Tried all things suggested on Sonos website and forum. And ideas?
Slow flashing orange light & unresponsive Roam speaker
So basically the orange LED is flashing slowly, i tried to read thru the manual and it said the product is in too hot environment (?), my room temperature is approx. 23°C. Also the speaker is now unresponsive and wont turn on or off, nor is showing in my Sonos app anymore. Any tips for solving this? Edit: I tried to plug it into a charger but that did not help either, its completely bricked. Kinda disappointed, i was only able to use it for total of 45 minutes yesterday…Money well spent
Sonos Roam, doesn't connect to podcast stream after a pause
The first sonos i started to use is Sonos one. I was really satisfied with this speaker, due to its seamless connectivity to apple tv and apple devices.Satisfied by the sonos one performance, When i needed to get a portable speaker, decided to get sonos roam, Thinking that it would be the safe bet for a christmas gift this year. Less than 10 days after getting the Sonos Roam, I’ve this issue where i pause a podcast in midway and when i try to play it again after a break, my Sonos Roam is unable to be detected by my apple device.[This detection issue is occuring while my device is not in sleep mode and connected to my wifi. There are no network issues, since i’m able to access the internet through other devices and the single strength is quite strong]I’ve tried the following, trying to troubleshoot this issue:Restarted my Sonos Roam Restarted my Wifi Restarted my apple devices logged off and logged back into my podcast app. switched off the wifi pairing in my phone and restarted it afte
Sonos Roam - Issues with Alexa & Audible
I have been having issues with playing Audible on my Sonos Roam via Alexa. I use the command “Alexa, play Audible” but after 3-4 minutes the audiobook will stop. On the Sonos app I get the following message: “Unable to play <Audiobook Chapter> - the song is not encoded properly.” Sometimes Audible will skip ahead 2 chapters after the message, but mostly the audiobook stops completely. This issue only happens if I play Audible via an Alexa command. There are no issues as far as I can tell with other services (eg Spotify, iHeartRadio, etc) or playing Audible through my phone.Below are the following solutions I’ve tried and their respective diagnostic confirmation numbers after the issue reoccurred:Completely reset the speaker - 1687113073 and 1909624914Switched speaker to a 2.4 Wi-Fi network - 1319891684Reset my Wi-Fi router - 267135584
Roam bluetooth grouping issue
I have a Roam SL and 2 Play:1 speakers. All are correctly registered in the S2 app. I can freely group all speakers together in WiFi. The issue arrises when I stream music to the Roam over Bluetooth and then try to group with one of the other Play:1's. On the first attempt it works fine but then if I ingroup and then group again no sound comes from the Play:1, still plays on the Roam. The app shows the Play:1 as grouped and playing. If I power cycle the Play:1 and then regroup, it works again but the same happens if I ingroup. Correction: I now get the same issue when connected over WiFi, was probably like that all along. So looks like the Roam groups the first time okay, after that not, either if on Bluetooth or not. Othe speakers group okay.Extra: just found that the same thing happens after pausing playback, the Play:1 does not resume sound but the Roam does, still grouped on the app.
Sonos Roam - can't play this right now via Spotify - band steering router?
I’m continually unable to play to my Sonos Roam via the Spotify app. The Sonos Roam will be grayed out with the message “Can’t play this right now.” I can play to the Roam without issue from the Sonos app. Both apps are fully updated, and all of my other Sonos speakers are available via the Spotify app. My router automatically band steers depending on my device’s location in the house. I was just on with Sonos customer support, who was telling me that I need to turn off band steering to connect to the Roam (and always have my phone on the band that the Roam is on). (It seems like my phone and the Roam may judge network strength / interference differently and so not reliably be present on the same band.)I’m also not clear why band steering would be the issue if I can play to the Roam via the Sonos app, but not via Spotify (including when on different bands).Turning off band steering seems like a bad solution, as I like band steering, feel that router technology is generally moving
Roam connects to my PC laptop Bluetooth system but won't pair or play
I was really looking forward to getting the Sonos Roam paired with my Windows bluetooth system but have now spent a couple of hours trying, but only get frustrated. In particular, I got the blue light and went into my Windows systems and ‘added a bluetooth device’ and it then claimed that the Roam had been “connected”.So far so good. The problem is that I can’t get it to play any music or even ‘pair’ audio from my PC.Help--please--this is very frustrating.Vince
Two routers - Sonos Move stops working
Hi - Have a Sonos Move which is running off a router in the house. I take the Move outside (whilst its playing) just about to put it on the Sonos speaker hook and it gets interference from a second router we have in the garage (to run security cameras etc.). Nothing then works and have to uninstall Alexa and reinstall. Any clues? Many thanks.
My Sonos Roam switches itself off after a few minutes. It has plenty of battery.
Hi, After a fair bit of work, I have added a Sonos Roam to an S2 system and got my compatible speakers working with S2, and integrated all speakers with Google Assistant. All good. Now when I ask GA on Sonos Roam to play BBC Radio 6, it plays it from TuneIn. Then after a few minutes, the Roam powers off with no input / touch from me. When I turn it back on, S2 tells me it is at 91% battery. GA on the Roam tells me it is 87%. I.e. it has not switched off because it is out of battery. Has anyone else seen this behaviour? Thanks, David.
Move Disappearing Again
In my living room I have an Arc and Sub. The ARC is wired to the router. In my kitchen I have a Move. When I first set it up, I could connect the Move to the app no problem, however, after a while it disappears. If I shut off the Move, it will appear on the App as offline. If I turn it on again, it will appear and work fine. Its a bit of a pain to have to recycle the power everytime I use it. A couple of updates ago, it seemed like it was finally fixed and the move stayed connected.I did an update yesterday and now its broken again and I have to restart everytime I want to use it.Its docked when this is happening
Roam Won't Turn Off
I have Roam which is stuck with a white light on the top next to the mic logo. It’s completely unresponsive, not showing up as available in the Sonos app, not available via airplay or bluetooth.I’ve held the button in for more than 5 seconds, no change. If I plug it in, the orange light shows on the side. I didn’t really want to reset it but I tried the steps to do that as a last resort and still no good. Do I just have to wait for the battery to run out?
Roam Control Buttons Stop Working
I’ve had the Roam for a week now and this has happened three time - the four top controls (play/pause, volume up & down, mic on/off) all don’t do anything after the device comes out of standby. No action, no LED changes, no audio cues indicating recognition of the press. All devices and controllers are up to date. Play/pause, volume, mic on/off all respond via the app. I’ve repeatedly checked the settings to verify that the control setting (System → device → Touch Controls) is enabled. When in the failed state, toggling the Touch Controls or Status Light settings does nothing. When the unit is working properly, those settings take effect immediately. The device has been at 50%+ battery charge. A full reset (which requires using the play/pause button) after the first occurrence did not fix the problem - it cleared on its own overnight while connected to a USB charger. I left it on the wireless charger overnight during the second occurrence, it was still unresponsive the next day. C
problems with Roam ‘hand-off’
When pressing and holding pause to pass audio from the Roam to other Sonos speakers on my network the audio transfers but only plays for a few seconds before cutting out. This has been happening for a couple of months now. Does anyone have any ideas about the cause of this? Thanks in advance guys.
Original name reused after reset
I have two Sonos Moves (not stereo pair). Originally named PatioSonos and GarageSonos. After some issues (notably with Apple Music). I decided to start again; I reset both Moves, reset the apps and went through the transfer ownership routine. Then set up again this time with names Patio and Garage. One or other Sonos app (using iPad and Mac) changes BOTH names to PatioSonos. Changing them to Patio and Garage again only lasts a few minutes.Changing one would be annoying but livable with; changing both is not just poor QA on the Sonos software but makes using awkward (as a minimum, I have to test play to determine which is which!).Any ideas/suggestions to really reset to factory settings appreciated...
Sonos move only blinks white
I’ve searched on here for any fixes but can’t find any. After working fine for a couple of years my Sonos Move now just has a permanent blinking white light on the top and no amount of resetting etc will fix it. When i hold down the power button it will eventually turn off the light but i don’t get the usual chime sound. Turning it back on and resetting just results in it coming back to life silently with the blinking white light again.
Missing speakers on some devices
I’ve been having a fairly regular issue where my Move will disappear from the app on my phone (iPhone 11). After going through the reboot/re-add process, it appears again for a couple of days, then disappears again. To add to the frustration, I’ve recently noticed that the Move doesn’t disappear from the app on my iPad, and is completely controllable from there (inc using airplay), whilst still remaining missing on the iPhone app. Does anyone have any thoughts/fixes for this?
Sonos Move not connection to Project VTE BT
Hello all!So my girlfriend tried for a long time to convince me to go full Sonos and recently i caved. We had a beam but we have bought a Move and are planning to buy a couple of One's aswell. To go full Sonos i got rid of my old BT Marley speaker. I used that speaker with the Project VTE BT record player and it worked like a charm. No we have bought the Move solely for that purpose and it won't connect. No matter what we try…Steps we have done:Fully disconnect the Project from power Reset the switch behind the VTE BT a couple of times Put Move in pairing mode first Wait endlessley till it connectsI am a bit in a pickle, we bought the Move specificly for this purpose (no wires, yeah!). If it doesn't work i will feel really bummed..Anyone has an idea? Other posts don't help sadly Thanks in advance!
Sonos speakers keeps disapearing
Hi, I have two Sonos One speakers, and a Sonos Beam. They all work wirelessly, and have been working for about one year with not a hickup. Now they periodically disapear, and cannot be controlled from AirPlay, and cannot be found in the app. Sometimes I can connect them again by power-cycling them. I read a few of the forum posts here, and they all mention IP address problems, so I pulled up the client list on my router, but all of them have seperate IPs, and no other connection to the router share the IP. I also read about switching from one Access Point to another Access Point, but they all go through the same AP. Factory reset did not work either. I am about to give up on ever using the speakers again, after several days of troubleshooting. And Yes. I have power cycled the router, switches and AP, as well as the speakers in the correct order. Any good ideas? /Bo
Audible Playback Stopping Continually
I have recreated this closed topic as I have exactly the same issue as was so clearly described by other users.Audible intermittently stops after playing for a few minutes. “Alexa resume” restarts it usually a minute or two before it stopped. Alexa work fine otherwise and audible on other devices works fine. Its just the combination of Audible and Alexa on my Roam that has the problem.Definitely not WiFi issueSonos - Please investigate this which is clearly a bug of some sort
