Hi Everyone, after another half day or more with Sonos Support (they tried but could not solve the problem of the again missing iTunes Library after the latest update), I thought I found a fix. Apparently, the computer's name should not include any hyphens for the official work around provided by Sonos. That was the only fix in my case to at least connecting, after receiving all sorts of 913, 1002, access denied errors when trying to re-add the Music Library on Sonoma, which had been broken after the most recent update. But then, after the library was indexing and updating, after a while an error message popped up that said that the location where the library was, is no longer available???When nothing was moved and everything works on my Mac in the Music app. And the whole library disappeared from Sonos again. It is a riddle to me how an app can be created that only can “connect” to a local file and folder when a Windows sharing environment is enabled. To me, that does not look like a
I’ve seen conversations on this subject. Sonos suggesting it’s a wifi problem is a great example of corporate gaslighting. They updated their app and now it’s trash. Own up to the trash.
After S2 App update bombed out my library i have reconnected again. Here is how I did it using a Synology DS124 NAS.I followed instruction for SMB and shared folder settings at:In the NAS setup/admin:All the music files are in NAS shared folder \music. Installed the Synology “Media Server” app on the NAS and set SSDP advertisement interval to 10s to allow DLNA access to NAS.In the SONOS S2 App added the shared folder://192.168.50.4/music User is your NAS login username. Password is you NAS login password.Note use of “/” in IP address, not “\”.“192.168.50.4” is the IP address my router has allocated to the NAS. Using the NAS’s network name “Server Name” did not work. The risk with using the IP address is that if the router reallocates the IP address then you will lose the link and will need to relink shared folder with new IP address. Good luck.
era100 wont play bbc sounds usiing alexa. It was working ok until a couple of days ago, but then stopped.I have unlinked BBC sounds, removed bbc sounds app, switched the sonos off for a few minutes, then re-linked the app. When i asked it to play BBC radio 2, it worked the first time, then stopped after a minute or so. subsequent attempts to play radio 2 result in the sonos saying its playing bbc 2 but then goes silent. Can you please give me a fix for this, without this facility, the sonos will be going back prontro.
I'm trying to decide the best placement for my Sonos Era 300 speakers, and I'd like your input. Here's my current setup:I have the Arc, Sub, and two Era 300 speakers replacing my previous Sonos One speakers for surround sound. The blue circles indicate where my current Sonos Ones are positioned. For the Era 300s, I'm considering the following placement options:1. Green circles: Slightly above ear level when seated on the couch.2. Red circles: Higher up, angled downward towards the couch.Which placement do you think would deliver the best sound experience?
This might only be aimed at the S24 users, but any pearls of wisdom accepted. After three lengthy conversations with tech support without success, I still can't get the latest version of Sonos working on my S24. It installs OK, but crashes when you hit the open icon.I have tried just about everything possible, multiple reboots of phone, router, and anything else you can think of, without success. Sonos Tech support now advise the problem should be aimed at Samsung support 😡 as there is nothing wrong with the app.My question is..... has anybody else encountered this problem ?The S24 is running the latest update, One UI 6.1 version 14 or have set some security/privacy settings inadvertently that might stop the app from opening. The app runs fine on my IPad/Windows PC and previously my Samsung S20 plus, but will have nothing to do with my Newer S24 Ultra.I'm at a loss and tec support can offer no resolve.
before Sonos updated the app in May, the stability and functionality was great. Since this update there has been lots of issues and some of them have been fixed and some have not and we’ve also talked about them on here. What is annoying is that all my album art that is stored on my local drive, is not showing from my NAS library and it used to work fine? It actailly works through Plex, but I prefer to use my own library, as I’ve got my own playlists that I’ve created over the years.
In a recent thread I described the issue I’d faced since “The Update” that prevented me from adding my music library, hosted on a Mac Mini, to an S2 system. I had file sharing configured per Sonos recommendations (even before the update), and although Sonos could connect to the share it would fail during the indexing process with this incredibly informative error message: O RLY? TL;DR: If you encounter the above error, it may be an issue with the cumulative volume of metadata in your music library, despite that not having been an issue before the May update. This certainly affects shares stored on MacOS using libraries managed with Apple Music, although I will note that I do not believe this represents an issue with Apple's products, as it's clearly linked to a data limit within Sonos. However, it’s one you’re more likely to encounter if your music management approach, like Apple Music, involves naming files with proper names, rather than a simple disc-track numbering system. It should be a very simple product - it just streams audio over WiFi. Yet after many years the initially very buggy software seems to get worse and worse.Every time I change WiFi setup I go through a massive world of pain trying to set up the speakers. This time I simply can’t set them up. Lots of factory resets, lost of trying to upload latest software (9 times out of 10 doesn’t work and gives random error codes, despite following instructions), trying to join the WiFi (again lots of random error messages). The after 3 hours in a cycle of despair, I get one speak to work. The other takes another two hours of going around in circles. That one works - but the other is now no longer working. I go around the cycle again. Now nothing works, despite following all instructions carefully.Anyway, key conclusion is that this is a company which has incredibly poor software management. The overall design must be incredibly poorly thought through and error prone. There can be zero testing. Why els
Morning all, Does anyone know if the bamboo lampshade on the floor lamp change changed to the glass shades? Do Ikea on the uk sell a separate stand for the lampshade alone, I.e. I have a lamp, just after the stand. If not is there a company that does sell? Thank you. https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/symfonisk-floor-lamp-with-wifi-speaker-bamboo-smart-20528289/
So, I need to upgrade my setup. I have limited funding so I can’t afford “back speakers this time” and might add them later. But would this setup work and would the E 300 speakers add to the experience? Or is a Arc Ultra enough?
Just updated to version 80.12.03 and the volume controls actually work! Maybe there is hope! 🤞
Hi all!Currenty I have a Playbar connected to my Sony TV’s optical port. I am buying the Arc Ultra. Since my Sony TV is older model, it only has Hdmi ARC. Is it a better choice to connect the Arc Ultra via Hdmi ARC, or optical ?. I presume the optical will give me regular 5.1. and Hdmi Arc losy atmos. Oh and, in between I have the Nvidia Shield TV. How would you connect everything?Thank youNeven
Hi there, I have a move and a beam in my kitchen. We just use the beam for the tv and run the music when we want it through the Move. I currently have an issue where the Move keeps playing the tv audio through it. When I go to the app is shows the Beam and Move are indeed both on with the yellow tick. I disconnect the Move press apple. It goes off from the move then a few minutes later the app just adds it again to the room. Its not through bluetooth either. I could just power off the move but that really is not a good workaround!.
I raised this 6 months ago (), but then was hit by the new and “improved” app, so stopped looking into this for a while. Now back and hoping to get some advice. Nothing has changed in my set up - still using SonosNet with a Play:3 as the speaker hardwired to the router and a mix of Play:1s and Sonos Ones around the house. 2 x Unifi APs hardwired to the router (so not a mesh network). Still get the issue with whichever speaker is playing music, the app loses the speaker so it either shows nothing playing (no album artwork, no controls enabled etc.) or the room itself disappears for a minute or two. The only way to stop/start the music is directly on the speaker controls. This is only an issue with the Sonos App. If i used Spotify and connect to the speaker through their app, I have no issues. Any advice on how to resolve this?
I have some suggestions for the new app. They are based on my own usage where I use the different controls in this order of magnitude 1) Track controls (fx skip), 2) Volume, 3) Rooms - and wish the interface would align the controls better for this (easier and more intutive access to 1 over 3). SONOS should be as easy and intuitive to use as any streaming app like Spotify. When listening to playlists or radio I use skip FAR more than changing the volume or switching rooms, and suspect many use it the same, but I don’t think the new app supports that as good or as intuitively as it could.Collapse the search box so it takes up less screen space → If pressed it expands and triggers the keyboard ready for input like now. This will make it less intrusive. The permanent player control at the bottom is not 100% intuitive Swipe up to show room selector. Swipe down to close room selector = make sense Click to open queue control but swipe to close = Can be confusing that swipe down does different
After the update to build80.12.04-release+20241114.cfc873cThen “The Big Bang Theory” show on Max has no sound on the bean. (1Gen)Other apps and other show on Max has no problems. The TV Sony Bravia can play TBBT show fine.I have a Beam 1.gen connected with HDMI and two One SL in the back. Can anyone reproduce this problem?
I’ve removed every speaker and added back. Wiped cache and data from my phone, uninstalled and reinstalled both apps. Removed all sonos devices from my Amazon account on my desktop. What am I missing. When I try to add a voice assistant in the sonos app, after adding the skill back into alexa, the dial just spins. It will not link to my amazon account. What have I not thought of?
The arc ultra is paired with 2 era 300s and sub gen 3 and so far is better in every aspect to the arc with the exception of use for gaming. Some voices are quiter, volume is also not as loud having to turn it up much higher than with the arc. The bass is noticeably lower, this was done with trueplay. Switched back to the arc and none of this is existent. Anyone have a fix for this?
why can't i find sonos tube app on my new android phone?
I got an iPhone 13 pro recently and it won’t recognise or connect to the Sonos S1 app. I’ve tried everything including allowing location services, no VPN etc. Yet the app works fine on my iPad. Judging by previous chats on this, there is clearly a software fault, are you fixing this Sonos?
On the second day of purchasing the Beam Gen 2 (November 2022) we experienced the machine gun/jackhammer blast of INSANITY AT FULL VOLUME. Needless to say this scared the $%&@ out of us, the kids, and the cat. This happened two times, while streaming Apple Music and streaming Netflix. Comfort and confidence is diminished with this product. I contacted support and they are sending a replacement right away. A few technical details of our setup:Samsung Frame 43” TV AppleTV 4K Surround with two Play: 5 HDMI eARC connection
Where should I put my new era 300s? Open to wall mounting too
I have loved! No adored my Sonos setup from speakers to port device through to what was the slick app/controller.One day I woke up and the Sonos app was updated and now it’s the worse thing I’ve ever used, absolutely awful, slow, unresponsive, unable to seamlessly move control from one device to another, but worse of all unable to add new or update existing playlists?!? Who in the hell approved this? Being able to create and amendment playlists was one of the fundamental basic uses of the Sonos app and now it’s gone.I recently cancelled my new speaker purchase as I am considering moving away from Sonos now as this has become unbearable.
I'm going to do some individual posts for each Sonos App feature I'd like to see.It would be nice to be able to rename all the icons, "top songs" isn't a big help. These from Amazon Music.
