Hi all. I have just got my new 4k player, having looked at the back of it, it has holes for putting the audio straight into the back of it, is it better to connect my sonos setup directly to this or not? It is currently setup via the tv so would it make any difference changing it to the 4k player? Thanks for any advice all much appreciated 😊👍
Hii am considering canibalizing an Old PLAY 3 and use it as PLAY Unit for external speaker/amp do anyone know Where i Can find the line level signal ? 😀
I have recently changed 2 Sonos 3 speakers to Era 300 speakers to be used for line in to play vinyl.i had no issues with the Sonos 3’s but wanted an upgrade.since I’ve changed speakers when I play vinyl the sound is terrible and distorted.play Spotify or apple music and the Sonos fantastic.I have followed the advice from two different Sonos technicians over the phone and have rebooted the system and changed the RCA cables from my port to my mixer.i have two Techniks 1200 turntables and a mixer and a port.Have checked all cables and WiFi etc and tried changing level port settings but all to no avail 🤯any advice whatsoever would be greatly appreciated.
Awful. Speakers, Sub, AMP - disappear like magic. Factory reset all products, create a new account, get verified. Sign in, then unstoppable loop, can’t sign in, nothing will attach. Pulling speakers wires now sounds so easy. Worst product I’ve ever purchased. Works 30% of the time. What a hassle
Is anyone else experiencing Sonos May 2024 Deja Vu?TuneIn podcasts haven't been working for close to a month, with apparently no sense of urgency to get this fixed. Now a new update adds steps to the simplest of functions (change the radio station, switch from one speaker zone to another - why more steps??).Just when I was thinking Sonos had stabilized it is eroding again.
Hi everyone,I prefer wired connections where possible, but of course that’s not always feasible. There are also situations, where Wi-Fi can't (mobile, or not disableable) or shouldn't (soundbar and surrounds/sub) be disabled. If I’m not mistaken, mixed setups should be avoided, as they can lead to issues or at least additional complexity (IGMP-Snooping, STP, BPDU handling...).In environments with home theater and other speakers, it would be great if one could use Ethernet and configure Wi-Fi to be used only for the dedicated link between a soundbar and surrounds/sub (since that has latency advantages, right?).Or, if SonosNet-capable devices that use Wi-Fi could be prevented from using SonosNet.But as far as I know, neither of this is currently possible - right?Or better completely ditch Ethernet and just go full Wi-Fi?Appreciate any input in advance!Cheers, Martin
Hi, I'm unable to play anything on Spotify through the Sonos app. I keep getting the error: could not play xyz, the connection to spotify was lost. I'm able to play it through the spotify app but it takes 15-20 seconds for the track to start. I've rebooted everything, deleted and re-installed the sonos app and removed and re-added spotify in sonos. All apps and system are updated. Any help world be appreciated. Thanks.
No audio from tv amp to arcI have a sonos amp to tv with in ceiling speakers. All worked fine for a couple of weeks, now no audio from tv but all fine streaming music just no tv audio. I see the sonos amp hdmi connection I even see the equalizer bars moving in the icon on the tv screen however there is no audio .i looked expensively online rebooted both Samsung tv and sonos amp without success. Any ideas?
Gracias
Hi,i have an old home theather setup, including amplifier, speakers, lp player and pre amp. I want to replace the system with something more simple, getting rid of the multiple cables. What would be your suggestion for replacing this system with sonos? Ideally, I would be happy with just the Arc - but it doesnt support LP player. It also feels stupid to buy and era 100 just to connect my LP player or spend nearly 400€ for the port (highly more than my old LP player). What would be your suggestion for replacing my old set up?
hi all - so now I'm attempting to connect a few hifi components…Pro-ject S3 CD Player+Pro-ject Tuner Box S3 DAB++Pro-ject T1 Evo Phono turntable+Pro-ject Stereo Box E integrated amp+Sonos Era 100s (set up as stereo pair)So firstly it seems there aren’t enough inputs on the back of the Stereo Box E for all this. Secondly, even connecting all but one component (the DAB) I still can’t get any sound out of my speakers.Would a different amp solve this?thanks :) James
Changed internet to Virgin and wow what a nightmare again, this time much worse tbh, having to reset all speakers, can’t connect bean to Sonos 1 surround or the sub, I was okay with using the s1 app before but seems my beam connected to the new Sonos app but S1 not so can’t link surround help prior to all in the bin
Hi - I want to reset the Sonos system to get the maximum benefit on sound
One of my Sonos speakers was making a crazy “ding dong” sound. I tried everything to make it stop. Solution unplugged speaker let the battery discharge. The “ding dong” continued until the battery was completely discharged. I then plugged the speaker back in and allowed it to charge again and the “ding dong” is gone and my Sonos system is working fine now. Technology just needs a reset every now and then.
When The new design of apps launched in May 2024 I found that the only controller left that would allow you to control your sonos devices without an Internet connection was the Windows Desktop App. This appears to no longer be the case and the Windows app now fails without an internet connection. Can I askin which version was this change made? and can we get a copy of the old version from somewhere?
Does anybody have a list of what specific 2.4 GHz network settings are required to have my Sonos sub hook up to my Sonos arc? The sub is GEN three. Arc is an older model. The sub used to work just fine. I did not do any auto update updates nor did I Change any wireless settings. Somehow it just suddenly stopped working. When I connect the sub to the 2.4 GHz network it shows as an item in my list then it lets me add it to my arc. It immediately stops working and then I get an error message Soonest wants me to wire the connection, which would be a complete pain in my balls. Anybody have any ideas I can try. Thank you in advance for your time.
Hello Everyone,I just ordered a pair of Sonos Era 300’s to run as rear speakers for my surround sound. Please excuse the condition of the house, we just had a flood and I’ve been tearing everything out.Right now we have a Sonos arc, Sub Gen 3 for the front and I have recently acquired a Sub Gen 2 for behind the couch. Up to this point I have been using two Sonos Play 1’s as rears which will move to a different room. The couch will be placed in the blue rectangle, and is 43” tall. We are building a half wall between the rooms outlined in red which will be 40” tall. The rear sub will be placed behind the couch as outlined in green. As for the era 300’s the placement is a little bit more tough, as you can see on the left side is a light switch and the mantle to our fireplace, so realistically I’d have to place it above this, and I can match it in the opposing corner however it would be about 6” further back.At this point because of the placement it will obviously be above our heads as well as
I’ve recently purchased the Sonos Arc Ultra. I bought the latest David Gilmour and Peter Gabriel albums for their Atmos mixes. However, the vocals on both albums sound like they were recorded in echoey caves. Horrible. They sound fine on normal stereo mixes. To say I’m disappointed is a major understatement. Is there any particular setting on the soundbar that could improve matters.
I am using Sonos1.added MyTuner as a service to Sonos.like to Play Station MyTuner: FilSwissFM.This station does not play via Sonos.using MyTuner as stand alone app, FilSwissFM plays through MyTuner.please find the reason why Sonos can not play this station and correct the problem.
I have been using my Play 5 Gen 1 for a couple of months now and thought I would share some thoughts. I managed to find an excellent used, boxed model will all documents and original leads as I am on a limited budget. I owned one previously, but sold it chasing the holy grail of hi-res and voice control! Why this model? I live in a nursing home with very poor WI-FI and find the Play 5 Gen 1 with S1 Controller connects to the poor WI-FI with ease and complete stability. I have borrowed later Sonos speakers to try and they do not like nursing home Wi-Fi systems. Yes, the older Play 5 limits you to cd quality, but I doubt my old ears can now appreciate higher quality 🙂. For me, the sound is mellow and easy, with just enough clarity. Because of my condition, I listen for several hours a day every day. I have never experienced the volume dropping or any dropouts with prolonged use; as with some of my previous speakers.I use Tidal, which offers some unusual music and has a pleasant UI, BBC S
I have several SOnos Ray used tor speakers connected to TVs via optical cable. All TVs have IR remotes. But Sonos Ray is not able to learn the volume keys from most of the TVs.When setting up the Ray it clearly registers the signal from the remote (the LED light up on the Ray) but the app continiues to fail and saying it does not register when prompted to press 3 times.I have read it could be due to the remotes using the common “Toggle Bit” feature. So trying the tips related to covering the remote IR diode every second press to get the Ray to learn the remote with no succes.
I was having issues with speakers dropping from my system. When I reset them and tried to re-add them, they consistently said they could not connect to my Wifi. I tried restarting my router, factory resetting my speakers (repeatedly), connecting with an Ethernet cable (which worked but only as long as it stayed wired, which wasn’t a viable solution). I reset my app, deleted and reinstalled my app. Upgraded my system… none of it worked. The only speakers that would connect were my old Sonos Ones—which led me to my Wifi frequencies. My router has 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, and they are not entirely separate (you can’t turn one off and not the other). My phone automatically connects to the ‘best channel available’ which is probably the 5Ghz, and the Sonos speakers only seem to use that bandwidth for interspeaker communication.Ultimately I did what I had resisted and gave each a unique SSID and password (sub-optimal, as it makes it so my network isn’t dynamically switchable). I was able to do this i
I dont see the new contextual Play-Button after Update App and System.
Since 2014, you have gone from bad to worse. While your sound remains great (who’s isn’t?), your lackluster software upgrades / support have been a perpetual joke. How are you still competing with superior vendors, one might ask? I’ll leave that to others to discover.
Dear Sonos Team,When stereo PCM is sent over HDMI, the Arc forces playback through the front channels only. Sonos frames this as “purism,” but it actually blocks creative intent and creates inconsistency: Artists’ intent is restricted. If a stereo track is designed to fill the room, Sonos prevents rears from engaging. Other brands allow “All Channel Stereo.” Inconsistent behaviour. The Arc mirrors stereo to surrounds in music mode (AirPlay, Spotify Connect), but forbids it over HDMI. There is no technical or licensing reason — simple channel duplication costs nothing. Purism becomes interference. By enforcing silence in rears, Sonos isn’t respecting the mix, it’s imposing a design choice that neither creators nor customers asked for. It’s like buying a 4K TV, but when you watch HD content the manufacturer only lights up the centre part of the screen, leaving black bars around the edges, saying “we’re respecting the director’s intent.”Unless there is a clear, rational justification,
