Troubleshoot, tune and get the most out of your system

This is a continuation on the threadwhich has been closed for comments. Whence a new thread. An update: I started to get drops from my Play 3 pair again tonight. .This means that the firmware update did not help. I have not noticed any of these drops in my Sonos Five pair yet. (Recall that I swapped rooms for these pairs, to test the hypothesis that the different usage profiles could matter.) This is promising.Seems like I’m in for buying an ERA 300 pair, but it may take some time I come around to it. (It’s a bit of work to get them in place, since I want to mount them on the wall.)
HiSecurity for your network is very important. That’s why it’s recommended to have strong network encryption. To the majority that means a password that is not easily guessed. The link below gives a list of Do’s and Don’ts for password creation. https://blog.mozilla.org/en/privacy-security/privacy-security-tips/password-dos-and-donts/Some even suggest changing your password every ninety (90) days. Doing so is a good idea; but can be problematic if you’re not the only network administrator or subject to memory lapses. 😊The preceding may be Networking 101 to the majority. However if you are experiencing network issues with your Sonos the next section may be of interest. Going back to the beginning I mentioned “have strong encryption” which really refers to the Authentication and Encryption used by your router. You have most likely heard of and/or seen the abbreviation “WPA” which stands for Wi-Fi Protected Access. The protocols have advanced through the following levels:WEP (Wi-Fi Equiva
I switched my home internet provider a couple months ago from Xfinity cable to Verizon Fios and my system has not been able to remain connected since then. I’ve researched every Fios-related help article here and have had multiple support calls with Sonos and have exhausted their ability to help me. The interesting aspect is I can reset my system (two amps on cat5 cables connected from an ethernet switch and about eight wireless Sonos devices) by turning off and then back on the power to the wired amps. Once the power is turned off and then back on to those wired amps, the system comes right back up but will only remain up for a couple hours and then I lose it again. So, the system does work when it is reset but then loses access … so it seems to clearly have something to do with the internet/wifi/router access.I’ve tried changing every setting in my Verizon router’s settings that I think could be related or have been advised to switch/disable, including turning off the SON (self-organ
I’m new to the family of Sonos, and I went all out much to my wife’s dismay lol Bur the dismay quickly turned to be mine when I discovered that I can’t use the center driver when listening to music. I don’t watch TV, and this purchase was exclusively for music.I feel like it should have been made clear to music only users that the center drivers won’t work. I didn’t see that anywhere when I first started looking in to buying them. im finding it so hard to wrap my head around that we, the buyer and user - are not given the freedom to choose if we want to use the center driver for music! this feels very controlling and is not fair to us lovers. I see many topics have been made about this issue, but all of them have been closed, this sucks :(
Je ne sais pourquoi j’ai une nette différence entre la qualité du son provenant de l’application Spotify et celle issue de l’application sonos tuneln. Pourriez-vous me dire pourquoi et comment améliorer la qualité de Spotify donc ? Merci d’avance
We have been playing BBS Sounds through Sonos for a year or so with no problem whatsoever. Then last week it started dropping out after a few minutes with a message ‘song not encoding correctly’. Have rebooted router, reloaded BBC Sounds, no change. Has anyone any ideas?
Not being able to start a podcast from the Spotify Sonos service is a Spotify issue. Please vote for the idea in the Spotify community. If it gets enough votes, Spotify may fix the issue.https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Support-podcasts-in-Sonos/idi-p/5642007 Note: You can cast from within Spotify to Sonos speakers, but the playback controls do not work consistently. For example, skipping forward 15 secs may skip to next episode. This is a consistent problem with how Spotify works when casting to any system, not just to Sonos, and the Spotify proposed solutions may or may not work or may work and then reappear.
The key issue I discovered is Sonos does not allow rear speakers in a surround sound system to then also be used in stereo with a turntable as the line-in and Bluetooth become disconnected. You would have to uncouple the rear speakers and set them up as stereo each time you want to do this which is time consuming. is there a technological fix or switch that enables you to switch with ease so you can enjoy surround sound on TV and then pure stereo for music? If not will Sonos work on one in the future?
I would like to mount Sonos Arc on a wall behind the projector screen. I have 100 inch projector screen which is Sound Perforated AcousticTransparent - https://vividstormscreen.com/products/vividstorm-s-pro-p-motorized-tension-floor-rising-ust-alr-perforated-projector-screen?variant=34332407955596. My question is - what is the recommended distance should I leave between Arc soundbar and the projector screen?
Hello internet people, So I recently bought the Era 100 hoping that in addition to steaming WiFi music (which I have no problem with) I could use this speaker to play and stream my vinyl (to the other Era 100 I bought for another room). Before you ask, yes I have a dedicated phono preamp which sounds great with my amplifier to tower speaker setup I’ve used for years. The turntable and preamp (from my audiophile days) are a ClearAudio Concept and Graham Slee Era Gold phono preamp. From the preamp, this connects with RCA cables to an RCA to 3.5mm splitter to the Sonos proprietary 3.5mm aux to USB-C cable. The sound is ghost-like, for lack of a better word. It’s barely audible (but can be heard). At extremely high volumes, the power line buzz is overwhelming and audio is still whispers of music. I’ve troubleshooted this with Sonos (which was a waste of everyone’s time), consulted numerous forums, tried numerous different preamps, tried increasing the source level. Nothing worked. Then I
I control Sonos devices on my iPhone/Sonos App. I have lost connection with all my Sonos devices. Even 2 Connect Amps ethernet wired to my router. Devices do still show up in the System Info page. Shown as ‘not connected’. I have gone through the power off routines on the Sonos devices and the router (several times). I have deleted and re installed the Sonos App. I had an energy Smart Meter installed a couple of days ago. Sonos was fine before the Smart Meter. This is the first time I have used the Sonos after fitting the Smart Meter. A coincidence? Or could the Smart Meter interfere with the Sonos/wifi signal?
I bought my Sonos system specifically to make a home theater setup and almost never listen to music in the room they are set up.The ONLY way to link more than just 2 speakers to the Sonos Soundbar is by linking them together wirelessly as a GROUP instead of connecting them as an external sterio-pair. (You COULD have 1 connected as a stereo-pair & 1 on its own & link them as a group but since you would have to forfeit individual influence over the volume of the attached set & they are not completely centered anyway, that seemed counterproductive in my particular situation)Once I manage to get the tuning & volume lined up how I like, they actually work well. TRUEPLAY doesn’t work in any sense, the speakers I could successfully turn it on on actually ended up sounding terrible. Overall, Once I got it how I liked, it worked well. The ISSUE I am facing is that I can’t keep them in sync. The remote/ir only influences the speaker that’s attached to the TV directly & I’m ove
Dear Community and Sonos Customer Service,I have noticed the Arc does not transmit sound on the far left end of the product as it does on the right end. This is noticeable when playing from all streaming platforms and Spotify and very clearly when using the Dolby Atmos test sounds (https://download.dolby.com/us/en/test-tones/dolby-test-tones_5_1_2.mp4). Another way to test if this is happening for your Arc is to put your ear close to the end of the right side of the Arc and listen to how this sounds and then do the same on the left. The left side just does not play any significant sound as the right side does.Unfortunately this issue has a very noticeable effect when playing Dolby Atmos movies and really does change the experience of this great feature. For example sounds going off the screen to the right are reflected in the Arc but not as much when going to the left.Due to a fault I am now on my second Arc and the issue has been reflected in both. With my first Arc I used customer ser
My system upgraded to Sonos Version 16.0 build 77449290 issues.Since then ….… adding multiple rooms when playing music is very slow it takes sometimes up to a minute when adding more then one room at once. music is jumping in and out due to reconnecting, … on the iOS app selecting a room and confirm the selection results into nothing. When open the dialog again, the selection I did before did not get acknowledged and is gone.I never had this issue with the 15.x versions. It is again a new issue. Please test your firmware before releasing it.
Hey guys,Would love to hear from everyone who have tested Ones and Era 100s properly, as surrounds and as stereo pairs. Let’s say you want two setups in your house; one: a surround setup with your Sonos soundbar & Sub, and two: a stereo setup for music listening. You are provided with a pair of Sonos Ones and a pair of Era 100s to choose from. Which ones would you pair with your soundbar as surrounds, and which ones will you setup as stereo for music listening? Please, don’t have your decision solely based on the bass output. Any comments/explaination/suggestions will be very much appreciated.
Last month, we smelled smoke coming from the room where our Roam was located. We ran to it, to find a terrible chemical smell and saw smoke coming from the speaker. The charger was their branded product and was smoking. We immediately unplugged it, burning our fingers in the process. We reached out right away. Sonos said they were replacing the speaker 3 weeks ago, even though I am uncomfortable receiving the same product. They’ve now gone silent. We burned our fingers unplugging this. They offered nothing in terms of any form of apology or compensation. We are now up to Level 3 customer service, which has proven to be as subpar as the first two levels. I’ve googled and there are multiple people who have had this issue. I have a client who specializes in class action lawsuits. Has anyone else had this kind of issue and was harmed? I’m wondering if I should reach out to them for guidance. Sonos won’t allow video posting here but here’s a screenshot of the smoke and melting from their So
For the last week (at least) our Sonos system cannot access my Apple Music playlists. When I select playlists (or Recent) it says "We've run into a problem. Try again later." All other features of Apple Music appear to work including songs, albums, artists, etc. I've already reinstalled the app. I've reauthorized the Apple Music account. These did not work. Any idea? Also this is my first post but I've had a LOT of issues with Apple Music working with sonos over the past 2 years. It's been pretty bad and unreliable. ThanksGreg
Hi there,I’m having an issue where my brand new Sonos beam will cut audio for a split second and return, like a pop, consistently whilst watching TV. The video doesn’t freeze frame or indicate that there is anything wrong with the stream or our internet I’ve replaced the HDMI cable but that hasn’t helped. I’ve seen other posts that seem to be discussing the same problem where no real solution is presented, if any exist I’d appreciate a link, if not is there anything I can do to solve this problem as it’s very frustrating.
Good morning everyone, I am thinking about getting the Pr0-Ject Sonos edition because of the built in phono preamp. However, I can't seem to find the specs for the phono preamp anywhere on their website and was wondering if anyone on here has or knows what those specs are? Or is there a turntable and preamp that you would recommend? Resistive Load? Capacity Load PF? Does say on the website has a 68db signal to noise. Thank you everyone for your time,Zach
Need to repeat Alexa several times on ERA 100 to activate it. When using Alexa about 50% of the time after saying Alexa the light goes out and it stops listening, I have to say Alexa a couple of times before it actually works ... See the video
What happened to the Southern Soul Network station. I am no longer able to listen to it?
On the iOS app, if I try to add Alexa as a service, it redirects me to amazon to sign on, but then after I enter my name/password and click the “sign-in” button, it sends me to an error page: 414 Request-URI Too Large The URL is indeed incredibly long, mainly due to the `metadata1` query field Edit: I got it to work, by copying the URL, removing the `metadata1` field, then opening the URL in the browser
Just added a boost to my system - 2 era 100, 1 move, 1 move2 , 1 roam and a google wifi mesh. It will ADD to the system but refuses to register to my account.
