Upgrade/replace a Sonos beam (gen 1) to beam (gen 2):I had moved from a house with a large living room to an apartment and needed a soundbar to replace my home theater that I couldn’t take with me. In Dec 2022 I bought my first Sonos speaker for the living room TV, a Beam. From an Amazon seller. It was listed as new and Gen 2; true it was new, but the item was not Gen 2 it registered as a Gen 1 when setup. I did get an amazon credit for the slight difference in price. Since the Beam sounded Great, I kept it and got a Sonos sub (Gen 3) two days later. At that time, I did not know the sub-mini was available. Fast forward to March 2024.I had recently added a Victrola stream turntable for the living room in October an wanted to hear it well in the bedroom too. This time I went directly to Sonos after seeing their pricing was competitive with other retailers. I was looking to add a beam to the bedroom TV. I settled on a bundle called Entertainment set with Beam with a Beam (Gen 2) and a sub
I was listening to Audible all morning over my Sonos and it suddenly disconnected. I went to reconnect and am getting a modal saying, “This content is not currently available to be played on Sonos.” I’ve literally never had an issue playing Audible over my Sonos. What gives? What changed? Zero help from any support from Sonos. Extremely disappointed right now.
Hi all, I want to buy a Samsung Galaxy S24 but first I need to find out if something is possible. As described here: I have a SONOS Five connected to WiFi.I know that some phones don’t let me control the SONOS volume unless I am currently in the Spotify or Sonos app. But Ideally, I could always control the SONOS Volume with the hardware buttons (even when it’s locked, for example)I know this problem doesn’t apply to iPhone. Can anybody w a Samsung S24 take one minute to test this out for me?I’d be eternally grateful. More details: Here’s the problem that I am facing with some other Android Devices:If I change the volume when the phone is locked or I am outside the Spotify or Sonos app, it just controls the phone ringtone volume. So every time I have to adjust the volume, i need to unlock the phone, open one of the 2 apps, and control the volume. this does take up a lot of time because i need to adjust the volume very frequently. I already adjusted the settings as shown in the foll
I often play vinyl through my multiple Sonos speakers, using my Connect. Is there an Alexa command to tell Sonos to play the input from a Sonos device? I'm finding it increasingly tiresome that you have to get the app out for so much with Sonos! Very boring. I would love a dedicated instantly-on remote on the wall for volume, next, playlists, input etc.
A key selling point for my Sonos ecosystem purchase was changed with the S2 update and it still bugs the * out of me. The 1st time I experienced Sonos was at a friend's during a big BBQ. He usually asks me to play music and wanted to show me his new system. So I downloaded the app, logged into his Sonos and saw the currently playing playlist and he showed me how to add to it. With the S1 app, when adding songs I was able to see MY Spotify library (favorites/playlists, etc.) which was amazing cuzz I didn't have to search for songs that I wanted to add to the queue. Once the S2 app was released, in the same scenario when I'm at his house, on his network, when trying to add songs to the Sonos queue, I can only see HIs Spotify library (which is nowhere near as extensive as mine) and make it a PIA to contribute to the queue. This happens at all friends houses with Sonos system since the S2 app release. PLEASE REVERT THAT CHANGE!!! *Moderator Note: Modified in accordance with the Community C
SONOS App version 16.1 (but I’ve seen this on earlier, recent revisions as well)Sonos S2 OSSystem includes SONOS Beam, mini-sub, Sonos One (x2). The entire system is connected wirelessly.iPhone 12 Pro, IOS 17.3.1 (but I’ve seen this on earlier, recent revisions as well).Summary: My iPhone Sonos App frequently, and arbitrarily loses connection with my Sonos system. It seems very clear that the wifi connection between the APP and wireless network is extremely fragile. Which is weird because the network is quite stable (it serves two TVs, two laptops, two iPhones, tablets, etc) in all other respects.Symptoms include:After playing for awhile, I’ll glance at the app and notice that it is not showing the currently playing song. On startup, my iPhone reports that it cannot connect to the Sonos system When browsing my music library, it will report that it “cannot browse the library”. The library is stored on a NAS device on the same network. When this is happening, I am still able to connec
I have a Sonos Connect Gen 2 that is connected to my WiFi along with 4 other Sonos Speakers (2 x Era 100 + 2 x One Gen 1). All but the Sonos Connect seem to be connecting via 5Ghz. The Connect obviously connects via 2.4Ghz.All 5 components are seen and work fine through the Windows Sonos S2 app on a PC hardwired to the network and on a laptop connected to the WiFi. I can group all 5 Sonos devices and use Line-In on connect. However the Connect has disappeared from my my Sonos S2 app on my tablet and Samsung phone. They are all on my 192.168.50.x network. This has all been fine until very recently (may be a S2 app update has caused this issue ?).The output of of the Windows Sonos S2 app Help/About this system is shown below:Associated Product: 192.168.50.93---------------------------------Era 100: Kitchen Sonos (L)Serial Number: ******************Sonos OS: S2Version: 16.1 (build 78151070)Hardware Version: 1.38.1.10-9.1Series ID: A102IP Address: 192.168.50.93WM: 1-------------------------
Hi Team! I rented a Sonos Five for a few months on Grover and was very happy with it.Now I purchased my own device and I ran into the following problem which is quite detrimental to the experience. This applies to the Spotify Listening, which I always use via the Spotify App on my Android Phone. Before, I could always control the volume from wherever I am.Now I cannot control the volume unless I am currently in the Spotify or Sonos app.If I change the volume when the phone is locked or I am outside the Spotify or Sonos app, it just controls the phone ringtone volume. So every time I have to adjust the volume, i need to unlock the phone, open one of the 2 apps, and control the volume. this does take up a lot of time because i need to adjust the volume very frequently. I already adjusted the settings as shown in the following articles Control Sonos volume with a mobile device’s hardware buttonsControl Sonos from the Android lock screen Any clue on how to fix this?
I have Sonos 3 from my previous home, I’m trying to connect it to new network. Nothing so far has worked I have carried out a full reset. Light flashing green, I’ve connected via Ethernet still shows product not found. I’m not great with technology, any advice ( the simpler the better) gratefully received. Thanks in advance.
Was searching to replace by aging TV to Prism 65AL. After reading much about EARC port requirement for Sonos to achieve Atmos sound. I thought to finally have such features instead of current 5.1. Anyone connecting Prism 65AL to Sonos Arc and able to play through Netflix for Atmos ? I saw Prism new model 2024 have EARC but not previously oldest series.
I no longer see Cruise Control Station on my S2 iPhone app. Any information about why?
My Sonos drops the connection every hour or two. I have spent three to four hours on the phone with Sonos support changing my router and network without any improvement,
I have just bought the Essential Turntable Set (which includes the turntable, the era 100 and the Line In Adapter). I understand that I will need to get a cable to connect the turntable to the adapter. Which cable should I get? I assume I should get an rca female to 3.5mm male cable. Is this correct? How about the thin wire connection on the left next to the R as we can see on this picture (this is from what i found online) ...
People keep asking how to group two devices when the Sonos app only allows creation of groups of 3 or more. If you only have 2 devices on a network, the “group” option is greyed out. Some people suggest clicking “everywhere” but those of us with only 2 devices cannot see that option. Every time someone suggests following the instructions for creating a group of 3 devices, it is chosen as best answer and the question is closed. This was frustrating for me as a new user trying to pair my Beam with a new Roam portable speaker. Beam is set up as Living Room and Roam as Portable. My plan was to play music simultaneously upstairs and downstairs in my house, but could not figure out how to pair speakers within the Sonos app. What I really wanted to know was how to play two devices simultaneously as though they are one group or room. I was not worried about sound quality since the devices would be in separate areas of the house. I had heard it was possible to sync Sonos devices so I w
My sub continues to disconnect. I can add the sub, it connects, and then 5 seconds after I start streaming music it disconnects. This happens continuously. Here’s my setup.I have 8 Sonos amps I have 1 sub The sub is connected to one of the amps none of my Sonos devices are ethernet wired, they are all running on wifiNetwork setupI have 1 router (Netgear PR60X) and 3 wifi access points (WAX630E)Sonos support responseThey keep telling me that the issue is that the sub and amp need to be 15 feet from each other to work implying the devices are speaking directly to each other which I assume is not correct. My hypothesis is that their suggested close proximity is to mitigate the risk of the devices perhaps connecting through different access points. I think this is just a networking configuration issue but Sonos support doesn’t seem to understand the technical details of “why” the devices need to be close to each other so I blocked by their lack of knowledge on the underlying technical issu
Hello all,Alexa on my beam was working perfectly then just stopped one day. I've tried all the basics restart routers, turned off/on the beam, deregiatered it from Alexa app still no luck. The Alexa app shows the beam offline and I can't solve this. The speaker works fine with my TV audio and through the Sonos app for Spotify etc but any Alexa functions no joy.Any suggestions? Thanks
Hi, Hoping some wise folk can help out before I completely lose my mind! For no apparent reason (same wifi, no changes etc), my Sonos system stopped connecting on my iPhone. For a period it was still working on my wife’s Pixel. But after trying to unplug & reset the router and add the components again it then stopped working on hers too. I have since tried multiple times to add the system again. When I attempt, it asks me to add each speaker individually. Beginning with a One, it plays the pairing chime, green and white light flashes and then goes to “connecting…..” where ultimately I get a “please try again later” message. Here’s my gear:2x Sonos One SL Sonos Beam (the beam still works through the TV and we can airplay through the Spotify app) Sonos Port (which has been unplugged/out of action a while as I moved my turntable) Sonos Move Sonos RoamI have Sky WiFi with the standard router, here’s the spec (ripped from somewhere else on the net) Sky Broadband Hub specificationsWi-Fi:
Very often now when I open up Sonos and browse into my music library I see no content. It just says “no selections available.” I have reported this problem on the forum twice before without achieving a clear resolution, and the problem is becoming more frequent. To recap:Sonos system is up and running. It can play from Spotify. My music library is on a Synology NAS, where it has been for years. I ran Sonos for a long time without trouble. This problem started surfacing late last year and has become more frequent. No relevant messages appear in the error logs of either Sonos or Synology. The first thing I check is always whether the music file share from Synology is actually accessible on the network. It always has been. I can browse to it from my Windows desktop and see all the files. I can log in to the Synology device portal with the credentials for the Sonos account I created there. No problem. It’s all working. The music files are there. I also check the Music Library settings in
HelloAs the title suggests I want to discuss the so-called “Known Issue” answer many say they receive when contacting Sonos Tech Support. Before we can discuss it let’s get a better understanding of the phrase. The quotes are not referenced by a link as you can search the web for “Known Issue” an obtain an abundance of hits. A few I found that I believe relevant to this post are:A "Known Issue" is an identified problem or issue with system functionality.I personally dislike the above as it takes the term problem and issue and literally meshes them into one. I much more prefer the following…An issue is much softer than a problem and has a readily recognizable solution. Mostly an issue bears only a slight impact, and causes personal annoyance. A problem is life altering, temporarily or permanently. They can cause others to be affected. A "problem" is something bad that you have to deal with.OK…granted the above primarily deals with the human side of things versus tech. However, I believe
Ever since I moved house and now have virgin and at the same time went over to S2 I now have this message. I now have s2 products so going back to s2 isn't an option. I think my bridge wouid solve it but you cant have that with s2. My sonos move seems fine, but my lounge set up (bar, sub, 2 x sl one) alwasy comes up as unabke to connect to sonos when earlier innthe day it was connected. On the rare occasion is does connect (after I've gone through disconnecting and connecting as if all of my products are new), it is VERY slow to obey commands or instructions and often doesn't obey them at all I.e. volume up, next song..basically everything. Annoying as I've been a customer for over 10 years. Any help gratefully appreciated.
Hi all, New to the world of Sonos and home theatre so please forgive any ignorance. I’ve just moved into a house that has four Sonos in-ceiling speakers wired up and ready to use in the living room. I’d like to understand how to complete this to create a quality home theatre system. With the four in-ceiling speakers, could I potentially get an Amp to connect to those which in turn is connected to an Arc with Sub Gen 3 which in turn is connected to my Sony A80J via eARC? Therefore giving me the Arc as a centre and surrounds with the in-ceilings paired to the Amp as overhead surrounds? Am I potentially better off with a dedicated home theatre system with receiver, bookshelves, centre, sub and using the in-ceiling Sonos as surrounds? Here is a diagram of the living area with the location of TV, sofa and in-ceiling speakers: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/zj29u1xhry7g4njcjkjtp/File-12-3-2024-11-18-38-am.jpeg?rlkey=wzvjmo0jeucg5lseo2mxaj5iu&dl=0 Any more effective suggestions?
I have 4 rooms where I want individual alarms … but the alarms overlap each other in the timespan needed. Not possible or…? Does alarm 1 have to end before alarm 2 can start - and so on?
I have two tvs side by side, each one has its own apple tv going into tv via hdmi and its own arc mounted below it fed from each tvs earc. Is it possible to put a hdmi switcher (2 in 2 out) between both tvs earc feeds and the two sonos arcs so that i can jump back and forth between the two different audio feeds from what each apple tv is playing to send to both soundbars hopefully maintaining volume control levels of each soundbar via the apple tv remote?
My 2017 Samsung TV uses HDMI ARC for my Beam. For my hearing aids I used a Sigma Streamline BT hearing aid transmitter (connected to TV optical out) worked flawlessly together for years--audio from both Beam and Sigma hearing aids. Then the VA replaced my hearing aids with Phonak ones and provided me with a Phonak Connect transmitter that is connected to same TV optical out port. Now when I turn everything on I get the TV sound but 2 sec later Any-net+ disconnects the sound (regardless of which source I select). What is really odd, is that when working with the old Streamline transmiter as before, the optical output wasn’t even selected when in use. In the Samsung TV settings, the sound setting selected used was “Receiver (HDMI)”.These are the current TV settings:Sound/Select speaker=Receiver (HDMI)Sound/ Expert settings/HDMI Audio Format = PCMSound/ Expert settings/Audio Format = PCMSystem/Expert Settings/AnyNet + (HDMI-CEC) = ONPhonak support didn’t have any suggestions. The new hearing
There are various idiosyncrasies I’ve noticed with adding music to my Sonos library, but nothing that I haven’t managed to figure out eventually. However, I’m not able to find a detailed “drilldown” on how Sonos music library indexing works. There might be detailed information in here...somewhere...but a search on the topic only yields problems that people have with adding music. If anyone has details to share, I would love a deeper understanding of how things work under the cover.
