I recently came across Ibroadcast and have to say it has solved all the problems I have had with music storage on my NAS server. I am now able to add album covers which also serve as artist covers. IBroadcast finds most of them for you. Having uploaded my entire library I will clean it up and download. However would rather it linked straight to Sonos. What i had intermittantly spent years doing has been completed in weeks. I also use Spotify but spotify does not suggest songs as good as IBroadcast.
Why when I search under playlists on Sonos do I not see my Spotify playlists? Many of these are uniquely named and should be readily visible and yet they never appear in searches. I have all my playlists set to "Public". Any tips? I’d like to able to access my playlists from other Sonos systems (at work, at events, etc.). Thank you for the help!
Ok, I've had it with Sonos. This is the second time this happens. I already had to replace 2 iPad gen 1 with iPad gen 2 tablets and now it seems I have to buy 2 new one's again. I'm going to sell everything and buy some other system that does not impose these kinds of practices upon me.
We received a request for a new feature that would allow you to control the Sonos volume via the menu bar in OS X. Let us know your thoughts on this and add a +1 if you'd like to see this feature on Sonos.
Display "Playlist" on the home screen.
I know this is a feature already requested in the past as I've seen multiple threads spanning over the last 5-6 years but they are all closed with only the latest comments from about 7 months ago. I'm sure I am not the only one who wants to be able to restrict Airplay or other forms of playing music from my Sonos system. Is this feature coming? I can't imagine it being too difficult to implement a simple pin that bluetooth speakers implement before establishing the connection with it. Another possible solution is expanding the parental controls that is already a feature in the app and making it more customizable to how the end user (me) wants it to be. Why hasn't this feature been implemented yet? Please help!
There’s so many features that the desktop client, Windows and OSX, is lacking that I’m looking for a better application to use. Any suggestions?
I'm constantly tweaking my EQ, Surround and Sub levels based on what I'm watching or listening to. I really just want these sliders all on the same page instead of drilling into the Advanced audio menu all the time. Wireframes attached.
It would be great if we were able to disable the touch controls of the playbase but keep the touch controls active on the connected surrounds. This would prevent children from jacking up the volume on the playbase yet still allowing adults to control it on the elevated surrounds. Currently disabling the touch controls works across all of the sonos in my living room
There was an attempted burglary on my house last week, and I'm confident they knew I had Sonos equipment and cased my house specifically to steal it. I have a ring doorbell video of a guy come up to my front porch with a crowbar at 1:40PM in broad daylight, with two guys in the background -- one small enough to fit through my small windows and another to stay on the lookout. The windows were locked and apparently the burglars were not able to pry them open and not willing to break them in broad daylight. I posted the video on Ring and did contact the police. I am in the process of beefing up security at my house. My Sonos speakers are the only high value items in the house that a thief could easily use/sell after stealing. Sonos items could fit through a small window after simply unplugging them from the wall. I purchased them within the last year. I used the Enjoy service and I am suspicious someone who had access to their records tipped off the burglar. Sonos -- you need to fix
"Response from Neil Young Archives on adding their service to Sonos - NYA music files are all master quality, ranging from 44.1kHz/16-bit to 192kHz/24-bit. Unfortunately, Sonos does not support the playback of hi-res audio and so NYA is not currently compatible with it. We'd certainly consider it though if the situation changes- and feel free to contact Sonos directly to let them know you'd appreciate this feature!"
Has Sonos figured out how to block users on the same wifi from using my system that doesn’t involve putting them on a guest network? This seems like such an easy fix by adding a password or settings to restrict what others on the same network can or can’t do.
I have 3 connects - one to a big system and one to really nice dedicated eadphone setup. 2 Sonos amps, two Play3s, one Play5, and one Playbar for my t.v. (probably my favorite). As you can see, I’m totally in on Sonos. They all work well. I have been wondering about a next upgrade. When I look at the weakest in the chain - it seems to be my connects even though they all go into current DAC’s (two even are re-clocked with Empirical Audio devices). I’m eyeing an Allo DigiOne Signature for $500 (server with no amp). BUT to go in, I must replace the software that accesses it all. Next up seems to be Roon. Quite a big investment but am willing to do it. My big question is - how fast is the Roon interface with a really good core. Is it as fast at accessing tracks? Is it as fast or even faster?
This looks interesting https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2019/9/12/20862236/ikea-cheap-sonos-remote-control-date-price The small controller works like this: Push it down once to pause, again to play; push two or three times to skip tracks forward and back; or rotate the dial to the left or right to decrease or increase the volume. It works on a table or wall thanks to an included magnetic mount. https://www.ikea.com/fr/fr/p/symfonisk-telecommande-volume-noir-40433780/ Works with any Sonos speaker according to above IKEA page. You also need the Gateway @ £20 so at a total cost of £35 this seems like a steal compared to the extortionate iPort Express product.
How do I rename a speaker from bedroom to den via my windows computer ?
I cannot articulate how unhappy I was to receive the email telling me that my SONOS amp connect purchased as state of the art in 2014 is now obsolete and will not receive updates. I have a playbar as well which operates on the same controller. i am not a very tech user and do not understand what the impact will be as I only watch tv and stream Spotify music services . i have been a real Sonos advocate and feel very let down. id welcome advice. yours Sam
Looking at identifying a traded and deactivated Sonos device I found this screen you can check, just replace the x.x.x.x with your IP address. Make sure to keep the http and the :1400 bits. Click the room name and then Zone Player Info to get this screen. You can see the status at the bottom, NONE means it hasn’t been traded. http://x.x.x.x:1400/support/review Traded and timer expired, deactivated. Still active and not traded unit:
I got an email today telling me that 11 of my 13 sonos devices were getting old and would no longer get updates. Really Sonos?! I bought some of the Connect’s only in the past couple years. Now you are telling me that they will soon stop working and getting updates?! Honestly I don’t care about the updates. My system works fine and does what I want, but I have a feeling that they will intentionally make it so that some streaming services will no longer be available. We are taking about streaming audio. It isn’t rocket science. A windows 95 computer can stream today’s audio. I spent thousands of dollars on your system. I really hope I don’t get screwed here.
There are 2 old Bridge units that show up on my ‘Systems’ page on www.sonos.com that I no longer have with no way of deleting them. I understand now that before I threw them away, I should’ve factory reset them but I didn’t. My fear now is that when the new ‘End of Software Updates’ kick in, that the rest of my SONOS System will be held hostage from updates due to a couple of Bridge units that I don’t even have any longer. Can someone alleviate my fears?
I've found more than one thing that's extremely annoying when using Sonos. 1: If you are playing music from spotify and you have set the volume for different levels in each room and want to adjust the volume by turning the volume up or down it will set the volume to exact same level in all rooms. On top of this you can't adjust eash room volume in spotify so you have to try to find your way back to the main menu in the Sonos app 2. After the latest update to the Sonos app you are not able to choose "genres" in spotify in the Sonos App so you have to go through spotify's app. This will result in more annoying phases that relates to topic 1. 3. You can't ask google or alexa to group rooms. So when I ask Google or Alexa to play music on Sonos it will only be in that room. When I go to the bathroom I can't ask Google to play the same or group with the other rooms. I just can't seem why Sonos is not doing anything about this. It should be so easy to program.
Spotify and YouTube Music have this function where, while listening to new music, you can thumbs up and thumbs down. If you like it goes to your liked songs playlist. If you don’t it skips to next song and tunes the upcoming songs in the future so its closer to your tastes. This works great but while using SONOS there’s no way to do this directly through its app. It should be, it is tremendously useful.
I can’t believe that Sonos can’t support older OS’s a little more. Using my two year old Onkyo Music Player with services and I can not even change the user name and passwords to my music services like SiriusXM. I am forced to update even though the older software works fine. I wonder how long before I can not even play Sonos on my Music Player? I have it set up at work. I was planning on setting up Sonos for my home. Now I will be looking for something a little more user friendly.
I can’t say enough good about the Sonos speakers but I am truely disappointed with he complete lack of attention Sonos pays to improving the Sonos app for iPad / iPhone & Apple in general. For some time I have been unable to play music from my iPad through the Sonos app to the Sonos speakers, I love the speakers so much I have foolishly accepted this SIGNIFICANT shortfall. Until recently I had resorted to simply enjoying streamed music through SiriusXM radio subscription on the speakers. Recently I am having consistent issues with streaming SiriusXM through the app. I am so frustrated with the apparent lack of support for Apple devices I am thinking I need to replace my Sonos with a system I can use my Apple devices on. Not surprising this forum topic has been closed! Please tell me Sonos will someday WAKEUP to this serious deficiency in their system.
