Hey everyone. I found a solution that worked for me.

TLDR: probably not going to be a fix for everyone, but possibly a fix for a few. If you have Google Home linked through your Sonos, and have Spotify as the primary music source. Tell Google to play a song via voice command through a voice assistant enabled speaker. Once I did that, the issue has gone away, and Spotify connect to works perfectly across the board. Even on zones that do not have voice assistant capabilities.

Just wanted to confirm that this actually worked (adding Spotify to Alexa, adding Alexa to a speaker). I was then able to play from the Spotify-app as before

But when I tried to remove the connection between Alex and Sonos, it stopped working. Weird.

Clearly some account issues that Sonos have to sort out.

Actually it looks like it still works even after I remove Alexa from Sonos, as long as I don’t remove Spotify from Alexa. Weird.

Only signed up to say THANK YOU to @kreativedesines

This was the most frustrating challenge and, having survived a couple of painful months with less music in my life, I can now put music on for our family again.

Confirming that worked for me and my wife's account.

So my recommendation; if you have Alexa or (especially) Google home setup, and use spotify inside those control systems, simply ask for a specific song to play, and if should fix the broken link.

I can confirm that this fixed the issue, at least for me. 👍

I’ve been struggling with the same issue for the last couple of months and I think I’ve just fixed it. I typically use Spotify on either my iPhone or iPad and Spotify Connect wouldn’t work on neither of them so I’ve been using AirPlay lately. But today I tried opening the Spotify client on my Windows PC and – would you believe it – Spotify Connect worked! Then I tried iPhone and iPad and it worked too. I turned off the PC, checked again and it still works on iPhone and iPad. Not sure if it sticks but so far so good.
