I searched the forum with no similar experiences. Am I the only one whose playlist editing disappeared with the new app? There isn’t even an Edit option anymore. I can’t add or delete individual songs for the current playlist. I can only replace the entire queue. It is the same for all music sources. This new version so far has done nothing better and many things much worse, this one being the biggest for me so far. What gives? Anyone else experiencing this?
Per Sonos support today:
“Yes, our Engineer is currently working on it now regarding with Editing and Adding Sonos Playlist. It will be added soon, as of now we are waiting for an update”
Just so frustrating when a company that you have such a high regard for wrecks and perfectly great system without notice and for what benefit? The reason I buy Sonos products over and above less expensive ones is because of ease of use and the controller, now that seems to have gone.
Just got an update for the app on my iMac. Have no idea what it will do but couldn’t be any worse than what I have.
The most recent update on my iPhone restored the ability to add individual tracks to the playlist. Of course you still can no longer edit or save that playlist, so it is only just marginally better. I am still amazed they released the app in this condition. In my book it remains inferior in every way compared to the old app.
If you use Ios - go get sonospad now. It doesn’t do everything but it’s great, and let’s you play music.
Sorry I am using queue and playlist terminology interchangeably. In terms of editing and saving they are equally broken. I can add one song to the currently active playlist (queue) now. That went away when the new app was released. I guess that is actually called the queue. I used to be able to edit the queue playlist and also save the current queue playlist as a named playlist, but can’t anymore. Sonos says they are working on fixing playlists, but not sure what that will include, I hope it includes the queue. It should. That is how I usually create new playlists anyway. For now it only allows “Add to end of queue” or “replace queue” for a single track as of the latest release.

I couldn’t find a Sonospad app in the IOS App Store. I only saw something called Clic for Sonos.

I just a few days ago got it. entered “sonospad” in the search, went right to it. don’t now what happened.

I am hoping that they just put back whatever feature was working in the old app. I have not seen a single legitimate reason why Sonos needed to remove the features that soooo many customers used.

It’s called SonoPad not SonosPad
hope, that helps!

SonoPad saved my day… literally! Mind that the name is SonoPad not Sonospad.
You can’t control everything with it but at least it did find all my speakers, offers full access to my media library (with search function) etc.. did not know that there are alternative app controls for Sonos till yesterday. Gave it a try and voilà, a light at the end of the tunnel!

Thanks. I’ll check it out. Of course I’d rather Sonos just restore the functionality they removed for no apparent reason.

I totally agree. It don’t have any idea what could motivate such a STUPID STUPID STUPID move on their part.

And worst of all, they refuse to agree that it wasn’t a very clever thing to upgrade (haha!) to a disastrous version of the app and as a result getting the worst ratings ever in the history of google playstore. yes, mistakes can happen and wrong decisions can be made but apart from that, the communication strategy (ist there a real one?) is just unbelievable out of this world.
I only can imagine that there was a conflict of interests like the hardware division trying to get the new headphones on the market and software developers getting nuts because they must have known the app is crap. I think it’s hilarious that the CEO said they had the new version on their mobiles and iPads and were totally satisfied with it. Come on, the literally hundred of thousands customers who strongly disagree aren’t all morons. Apart from the technical failure of the app it’s the utterly unprofessional way of handling this situation that really makes me upset. I am CEO of a company with more than 400 people working for it and believe me, nothing I ever experienced in my whole career comes close to that.
I had a smooth running system with Sonos for several years and did strongly recommended it to friends and family. I had plans of future investments into the systems as so many others. So of course it’s not only a matter of the reputation for Sonos but a financial issue as well.
Thank god for some independent app developers who are right now giving alternativ controllers or communities like this who teach how to downgrade on older versions (for Android).
I have several large playlists on Amazon, each with 300 songs. With the new App, I can only play songs 1-100. Any song > 100 does not play and I get an error message “something went wrong”.
Do others have this same problem? Is SONOS aware and working on this?
I have not found a fix and this was not a problem on the old app.
The Community keeps finding new issues with the app update that were not a problem with the previous version. They should give us the option of which app we want to use. But -- that is not likely to happen.
I’m no software developer, so perhaps this is a stupid question… but wouldn’t it be easy to simply give users the option of ‘downgrading’ to the version of S2 that existed before the ‘upgrade,’ back in those dark days (just a few weeks ago) when everything actually worked — without any effort on the part of the owners of existing Sonos products, and without looking to third-party app developers for solutions?
The “fix” I came up with was to “Airplay” my Amazon playlists with 300 songs directly from the Amazon Music App. The shuffle feature works on Amazon. So if there are others with similar issues, try the AirPlay solution.

There is no playlist functionality at all in the new app version. It was included in an earlier release of the Sonos known issues and future to do list (about a month ago). But that has dropped off on the most recent list posted by the moderators.

Yes! This is soooo frustrating. Ken, when will this be fixed? Why should I continue to buy more equipment from Sonos?

If you’re not happy with the current app, don’t buy anything more until it is sorted. If you’re still not happy after that, don’t buy any more equipment.
(Ken doesn’t work for Sonos, FYI.)

How do you release new software with known issues ? Cannot edit or save my new queue ? I wish my old playlist were still working too.
I have my Playlists back! And I can play them on a schedule again using Alarms!
Woohoo! But it required a little bit of work on my part…
Ever since the disastrous app update, my Playlists have been visible in the Favorites section of the Android app, but they were greyed-out. If I tried to open them, they didn’t contain any songs. When one of my Alarms tried to start the Playlist, I just got the Sonos Chime. Yesterday, I tried deleting all my Playlists from Sonos Favorites. Then, in the Windows app, I went to Music Library and opened Imported Playlists. If I added those back to Sonos Favorites, they still wouldn’t work. But, if I instead selected Add To Sonos Playlist, it offered the opportunity to create New Playlist, and it added all the songs from the Imported Playlist to the new Sonos Playlist. Now, the Android app displays the playlist (not greyed-out), and the Alarms can start a playlist that actually plays. So once again I can play my own music from my PC, in playlists that I created, automatically launched at times I choose.

Happy for your perseverance and commend you for finding a work around Sonos forced on you unnecessarily. Think about how ridiculous it is that Sonos released software where all of that was working flawlessly without any of your shenanigans necessary and now arbitrarily took away, for reasons that are beyond comprehension. But hey come buy their headphones you weren’t waiting for! I am already actively looking for a replacement system that actually gives me what I want. They can put their headphones where the sun doesn’t shine. I will not buy another Sonos product and am p***ed beyond words that I wasted money on the 5 I have. I would jump on any class action suit that came my way. They new app is a COMPLETE DISASTER
