Sonos, if you are reading this, hopefully working on a solution, please send us an email and give us an update. Would love to hear that you realize this is a big problem and you’re working on it.
I struggled with similar issues for weeks. The reason for sluggish response proved to be simple: memory ! SONOS isn't telling the truth saying Connect:Amp Gen2 is working with S2. It even struggles working with S1 (music drop outs etc.) The Connect:Amp Gen2 has got only a marginal increase in memory vs Gen1, and SONOS AMP (the new one) got about 20 times (!!) the memory of Connect:Amp Gen2... My advice: put Connect:Amps (Gen1 and Gen2) to the recycle bin, use SONOS AMPs, they will work flawlessly with S2 ... or change brand.
Not what you expect from a premium product, it really spoils the anticipation of switching your system on to listen to some great tunes. If it were a cheap Chinese system, you would kind of know this was coming the moment you press the purchase button… but Sonos, really? Not winning any hearts here, sort it out please!
I completely agree with all of the complaints. I am normally pretty tolerant of glitches but I am getting more and more frustrated with not being able to find my favorites easily, and the delay and even unresponsiveness on turning it on and off and adjusting volume. It is very sad as up until recently I loved the system. It seems there is no move to fix any of this as it has been a problem for a while. I am now looking to shift to something else. I certainly welcome recommendations.
Hello
is there any update for the slow application.
i have an iPhone 15 pro with the latests IOS version.
The app is very slow . No problem with the MacOs application.
I can’t believe that the application was seriously tested . Please let us know when a fix is available. After Digital output problems ( lack of treble ) it is really boring . I was very happy of the simplicity (for years) of the SONOS products but since last year it is very disappointing to deal with such regressions.
I began to look for other products like Bluesound or similar.
Such a pity…..

Worried the CEO is in denial of this disastrous release. 5 years from now, it may be a required case study at Harvard business review.

F***** worst app update ever.. SLOW, can’t find things and music integrations works like hell

Patrick Spence, you need to fire your your app designer, your team have clearly lied to you. From all the real life testing from the hundreds of people on this community we can attest, the app is not easier and faster.
The App was flaky before but now it is practically unusable.
When Microsoft (love or hate them) roll out products you have the option to use an older version. Why don't you give us this option, until you sort out this mess? Also think about hiring a new App designer.
Do not buy these products. The new app renders them useless!

It must be your own setup, as my products are working fine - the App works here too and the audio is playing without issue.

The new app is buggy. Use a different app such as SonoPhone on iOS or roll back to 16.1 on Android.
I’m in full concurrence here. My frustration is through the roof on this. The new interface is clunky and incredibly unresponsive. Often I can’t get speakers groups as they simply won’t group and when I turn volume up or down it is sluggish and often unresponsive.
I’m building a new house and was planning to build around a Sonos audio experience, but with this new interface and experience I’m reconsidering. It was working perfectly before and I was the biggest fan selling others on how great it was. Amazing how they can have such a great experience and ruin it so quickly.
What is going on? I paid a lot for this system and expect it to work. Now it won't play my music, and volume controls itself and goes to 0, it is crazy! Why hasn't this been fixed? It should have been fixed after the first complaint, as everything worked fine before. Sonos needs to respond.

I’m guessing Sonos will respond if you contact them, rather than just posting to the user community. Here is their link to speak with their customer support staff…

One or two others here have mentioned the zero volume issue too, so maybe it’s the new controller App but perhaps see what they say as if can be caused by other things too. I’m using the new App too but have not encountered the issue so far.

There’s a volume bug that resets to 0. Lots of people reporting this issue unfortunately.
Sonos is doing weekly updates to the app with fixes so hopefully they will get to the volume issue sooner rather than later. Agree they should have a list of known bugs and timeline for fixes, they f’d this up and owe us better comms, it is what it is now though I guess
But The new app is missing a ton of features and is basically still a buggy dumpster fire. So it might not be this week, might take a little time.
It’s SO slow. Every action is slow as molasses. It’s not my network, because using the Mac app is snappy. It’s the new terrible app.

I sent their ceo a message and got back a canned message that must go out to anyone who e-mails him.

It must be his own setup along with the hundreds of others on this thread. Sonos app has always sucked, now it's useless.

That doesn’t explain though why it’s working okay here on my Home WiFi network - it’s just a standard WiFi 6AX mesh setup and the App has been fine for playback and control of my products. Yes I agree it’s a little bit slow in one or two places but that’s not a huge issue. Everything that’s in the App is working okay to get music playing around the Home either standalone or grouped. You could even close the App and use voice control or AirPlay or direct control or perhaps Bluetooth, as far as I can see nothing at all has changed for those audio sources. Anyhow the new App works okay here. (See attachments in my earlier post).
It really is terrible. It takes the fun out of it. And trying to put the same music over more than one room is so frustrating, “can’t connect please try later “ so frustrating. Sort it out Sonos, asap

The new app is buggy AF. Look through the release notes at all the bugs they’ve fixed and the number of complaints still in the community about other issues. People constantly posting how support can’t even help them. Use a different app like the desktop or SonoPhone and your issues might go away.
I have the impression the issue is deeper than it seems. It’s not only the app, is the changes made in the whole infrastructure. I have old Connects and Connect Amps, with S2 operative system. Now everything works perfectly and fast with the Connects but have all of the issues with my connect amps, so it’s not only the app. Even with third party applications the problem replicates. Something in the firmware of the speakers and players changed at some point to make the system unusable.
Sonos need to address the app, but also the speakers, but I fear they will let down users with “old” equipment. I paid premium price for them, replacing my 4 Connect Amps with the new amps will be something around 2800€, a price that I am not willing to pay, so if the issue is not sort, I will sell everything and move to something “less premium “ but at least that works.

I think your impression is correct. Here’s a good piece on what may be going on.
