Aaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!! Shame on you Sonos!! The sheer incompetence… New app sucks gigantic elephant balls. Just incredibly slow and unresponsive. How is this even possible? I thought the old one was bad enough but you proved me wrong. Embarrassing low mark. 


Looks like someone with shares in Bose has infiltrated the Sonos app development team and thrown massive spanner in the works. I am absolutely fucking disgusted that I have spent thousands of pounds of Sonos kit which is literally useless now, it's like Tesla updating their software to knock cyclists off their bikes, and drive through red light cameras taking you to the wrong destination.

Would not surprise me if this was the end of Sonos. If this is not sorted by next weekend, we should raise a collective law suit against them for a full refund of hardware and installation!!!!! Because only a retard would buy Sonos at this point in time.

I loved my Sonos stuff when I first bought it. It (the app) has become slower and slower. New version seemed faster at first but back to almost unusable now. 
I will not be buying Sonos again until this is resolved and will advise others to avoid too. 
I’m not angry Sonos, just very, very disappointed.

I can not believe after all the cash I have spent on SONOS that my system has turned to shit.


Okay I'm jumping on the class action if this doesn't get resolved. This is terrible & unacceptable!


Used to love my Sonos, I can’t stand using it after this latest update! 


Just tried chat support... Waiting for about 20 mins in a queue.... Chatted with someone who was frankly clueless for almost 30 mins... He then admitted that the app was "causing lots of issues" then when I asked what they were going to do about it, he terminated the chat....

yup, have had a similar thread.. I can’t get my brand new Move 2 to join my system, as it will not update and thus wont register, and I cannot connect to the bluetooth until it does… Support rep, keeps going down the road of blaming my “router” .. My router has absolutely nothing to do with it. being 2ft or 10ft from the Access Point doesn’t make a * of difference. Start taking some responsibility Sonos..

It’s been over a month since the updates and the complaints keep coming. If the app is still this slow to complete even the most basic of functions after a month of fine tuning updates. I don’t think it will ever improve. My network is super fast. The connection is solid as a rock and the app is MINDBOGGLINGLY SLOW TO DO EVEN THE MOST BASIC TASK. 
It’s obvious that whatever architecture the new app is based on is NEVER GOING TO BE UP TO THE TASK!! 
 

COME ON SONOS! JUST ADMIT ITS A COMPLETE FAILURE AND ROLL US BACK TO THE OLD APP. 
 

JUST BE HONEST AND DECENT! ADMIT YOUR FAILURE AND MAKE IT RIGHT!!!! PLEASE!

lol, I have spent weeks trying to work out what was wrong with my WiFi. The new app is an omnishambles, comical this managed to go through testing and get released given the sheer volume of negative posts.


Agree with all the above, new app is chronically slow, features removed and plays random radio stations.

 

It’s just not fit for purpose and I’ve just stopped using my Sonos devices as a result.


I agree. Ruined my Sonos experience and I am so glad I did not buy all new speakers. I was so close to spending £2k on updated speakers.

Tired of looking for updates every day. Worst is customer service is useless and each update is worse than the previous one.

 

Sonos don't seem to respect their customers. The new app is a pain (40 seconds to display artwork, need of 3 times to join rooms, painful setup of sound level in each room, painful way of going back in the menus...) Who is in charge at Sonos? Can't you at least release older versions so we can go back to where it worked?

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I can’t believe the number of people complaining and agreeing. Hopefully Sonos is reading this. 
 

Me - slow or nonexistent connect unless I try 3 or 4 times, restart app, etc. Once connected. It is so slow to respond. Sometimes ignores commands. Totally unusable. My wifi is 2G and is 30-40 mb at the speakers.

Years ago, it worked great. Seems like  every update makes it slower. 
 

invested a lot in this system but at some point, I’ll replace if it doesn’t get better. 
 

 


Why can’t you just let me use the old app. It worked.  The current app does not.  It is slow, frequently won’t load content or fails to performs tasks such as setting a timer or adding a song to the queue when requested.

 

I understand mistakes happen but not allowing users to just revert to what worked seems stubborn and is only further frustrating everyone.  Count me as one of your many VERY unsatisfied customer.  


I had managed to revert back to the old app, and what a relief! However they bricked it and it wouldn't let me use it anymore and forced me to update. I am shocked at how terrible this is.  I'm going to give it another month and if they haven't at least gotten the stability and speed back to pre update levels, I'm selling it all and turning my back on Sonos. I can believe how completely unprofessional this has been.


The thought of selling off all the Sonos equipment crossed my mind many times last month… But to whom? Who would willingly want to buy this before the problems are solved?

 


For a premium brand (at least that’s what SONOS claims), the way they are handling this new app meltdown is terrible. Instead of releasing regular updates, they bombard me with marketing emails on the new headset. It shows their strategy has changed from quality to quantity. SONOS is the Boeing in audio equipment. The sooner I can leave the SONOS eco system, the better. Such a disappointment.


Just need to add my disappointment. The new app broke down allntrust.in sonos company. We are now mid jûe and nothing is solved. Cannot access my loval file ( NAS), it is extemely smow even to play a spotify music,  cannot link any mor enew song to synology playlist,  I havr a full myltiroom qystem ( playbat, play ones and 3, bass, mive,.. ) Never experiences that in the app world so far. And it is so frustrating when even no one in the company is really reacting and users have no way to know what is hepp3ning, why and what are the plan ahead. Sad sad sad about what I believed untim recentlt to be one of the company and product who understood ( pretty early) the strengjt of wireless musoc, désignant user friendly approach. :''-( 


BTW, anyone to share idea on alternatives. ( Need access.to NAS Music, converted all my musoc catalogue,  and online service ( deezer or spotify or Tidal) ?


As an installer, I can’t sell, promote, or install this for my customers with confidence. Sonos, just say, “we blew it…we’re working on it.” That is, if you’re actually working on it. If not….what universe are you living in. I’ve had faster experiences at the RMV than changing the volume on your new disastrous app “update”. Brutal. Contact me. I’ll beta your stuff next time. Wicked bad.

Roon provides a “controller application”, much like Sonos. It can actually play music through your Sonos speakers. Amazingly, it’s fast, and finds your equipment every time unlike the Sonos app. It’s got a decent interface but the streaming app choice is pretty minimal. It also comes with a monthly subscription fee to use the app/controller. That was kind of a turn-off for me.

WiiM requires new hardware… granted, a LOT cheaper than a single Sonos speaker, but hooks up to powered, unpowered or stereo equipment.  Interface is great, is able to selectively play from local libraries (using Plex), and has a great selection of streaming apps.

Bluesound is another one… but have not tried it.

I have just gone through them motion of replacing all my Sonos equipment with WiiM.  I love it. The fact that it just works, all your equipment has now turned into a google/alexa enabled device as well, and provides excellent sound. You should see my Sonos equipment for sale on ebay here soon.


My speakers are basically unusable. On the rare occasion I do decide to use them I find it so frustrating and buggy that I want to throw them out of the window.

  I think it's probably more than just a new app / interface going on here, maybe some new cheap cloud infra thrown into the mix as well. Not that Sonos will ever admit there is a problem. Premium my arse....

Back to Bluetooth speakers I guess!  Anyone found anything useful to do with old Sonos speakers? Guess they would make ok plant pots if the top is cut off? Or a good place to hide snacks from the kids.  Maybe all is not lost....


Latest fun with this app, open it to (though I've used it just ten minutes prior), get the same "no system found" I always get, and then it shows me the wrong song at zero volume. I try to change the volume and it results in the music completely cutting out.

They're going to use Sonos in use cases at engineering school and business school alongside Boeing. I would give anything to get the old app back 


Absolutely frustrating experience after the app update. Regretting the update. Have 8 Speakers.
