Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

I have older Sonos speakers that aren’t compatible with the updated controller. I’ve figured out how to have the app on my phone stop asking me to update. But every time I open the controller on my laptop, I’m asked if I want to update the app/controller and I have to say “Not Now.” But I’d love to say, “Stop asking me about this because you’ve gone on and left me here with your old tech and when these speakers die, maybe I’ll buy new ones that are compatible with your update. But until then, my hands are tied. And you won’t shut up about it. And it’s making me hate you.” So… little help?
Since upgrading my iPhone to iOS 15 I am no longer able to control my Sonos S2 volume controls using the physical volume button on the phone. I have turned the option off and back on again in App Preferences with no success. Is this perhaps a known issue? Thanks.
Microsoft upgraded me to Windows 11 with asking, and then Sonos keeps on telling me to check for updates -- I do this, it finds one, downloads and installs. Then asks me to check again, and downloads and installs…. and so on, and on. I cannot get to the music library on the PC; one the phone it no longer finds the music library, and the process of trying to connect via the phone is impossibly complicated with instructions written by someone who really doesn’t seem to like customers very much. Any ideas? I just want to listen to some music……..
Hi there, I know this question has already been asked, and I know how to get this info, normaly given on the “about my system” screen on the Sonos app.And I get the information when I use my beam with my TV (as input). But when I use it with the Sonos App or Airplay as input, there is no indication (field is blank).I also have a Roam, for wich the “audio output” field does not exist. So my guess is that this information is given only when using the Beam with input set to TV. Still, is there a way to get this information with the other input modes ?
I love the performance and function of my Sonos speakers, but I’m tired of the cult-like following required for me to use Apple devices so I switched from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy s21. Now I’ve learned that Sonos and Google aren’t friends and that I have to choose between the phone I much prefer over the speakers I enjoy. It looks like Google lost the patent lawsuit and hopefully pays Sonos whatever you’re due, now can we please support casting so I don’t have to deal with mom & dad’s quarrel? I paid a premium for your speakers, and my phone, but I can’t send the audio from the apps I want to use to my speakers because why again? The app that I’m trying to use is White Noise by TMSOFT because it helps me sleep and there aren’t any good continuous alternatives on Sonos or Pandora Compatibility isn’t a lot to ask.Scott
Spotify on laptop amd phone wont connect to either of my 2 sonos speakers in my second sonos system. My phone spotify connects correctly on my first system at a different location. Any ideas how to resolve this ?
I added my computer as audio source per the instructions from Sonos and SWYH and Sonos app confirms its been added but I can’t find it anywhere in the app. Also where is Tunein in the app? I can’t find that anywhere either.
Hi, just a quick Q regarding release notes. My S1 system is at 11.2.12 and says that an update is waiting. However, checking the sonos.com site for S1 release notes brings up just one page with details for Sonos releases that stop at 11.2.6.Where can I find release notes for current software? Thanks in advance, Steve
Greetings, We have a Sonos system in our home. Does anyone have positive or negative experience or advice with using Apple Music vs Spotify over a Sonos system? For the most part, all of our devices are Apple products (computers, tablets, phones, etc.).Any tips or tricks on how to optimize it?
The search to remove the beam from my system isn't clear or I can't seem to find where I delete so I can add the Arc?
This has long annoyed me, and finally decided to research a bit. When using the Search function in the iOS app, there seems no logic to the order in which albums are listed. Searching here I can see there are loads of threads on this subject, most of them years old. I also see the suggestion that the music service determines the order, but surely Sonos can alter that at UI level (or allow the user to choose!)Is there now some way to do this that I'm overlooking? As it stands it's easier to use another app (Apple Music) to locate the album I want, then return to Sonos app to play it. That's a pretty poor user experience. If still an issue, any hope of getting it enhanced? Thanks!
There are dozens of posts in this forum related to this issue from as far back as 7 years ago. This should be a very simple addition to the software. I play music from my TV all the time and want to be able to use my Sonos Ones for Full Music Playback and not Ambient mode when playing music from the TV. Then when I want to watch an actual movie I want to quickly be able to switch back to surround mode. Please please listen to your customers!!
I can’t seem to find Virgin Anthems in radio, only Virgin Radio. I have tried copying and pasting Virgin Anthems URL into add radio station in Sonos but that does not work. Any suggestions please?
Hello, Is there any news about the much requested alarm fade in customization options? It woudl be great indeed to have the possibility to manage the Start Volume, End Volume and Ramp Up Time of the alarm function and i’v read multiple posts about that so i’m apparently not the only one to wait for that! Thanks
Hi all,Anyone knows whether this can be achieved ?I would like that my Philips Hue lights dance with the music that I am playing through the Sonos app. This works fine when I’m playing music through the Spotify app. However it does not work when I’m playing music through the Sonos app (although Sonos and Spotify accounts are synchronized). Thanks,Thomas
I hate Autoplay. A few weeks ago I had a clean install on my computer (Macbook) and then installed Spotify and connected to my Sonos system to listen to some nice music. As it turns out after a while, Autoplay is enabled in Spotify by default. No worries, I disabled it in the Spotify settings. In the very rare occasions when I listen to music on my Macbook (not through Sonos) it respects my choice just as I expect. However, in the meantime Sonos seems to have remembered that Autoplay is ON and since then everytime I listen to anything through Sonos started in Spotify, Autoplay is enabled and it starts to play random music after my playlist or album has ended. (Did I mention I hate autoplay?!) It’s all the same if I play music through Spotify using my iPhone. I looked everywhere in the Sonos app both on my Macbook and on my iPhone, but can’t seem to find any switch for that. Damn! Where do I click?
Is it just my network or has the once seamless compatibility and UX interface between Sonos and the Spotify app recently collapsed?I’m really not sure if its the Sonos app or the Spotify app that is at fault (or both) but a few months ago, I noticed that the “now playing” screen on the Spotify app started to resemble the Sonos app’s “now playing” screen. And that change seems to be the start of the problem. Now it seems I can’t pause tracks, skip ahead (important for podcasts) or even change tracks whilst inside the Spotify app. If I do, the track playing on Sonos continues and instead another track begins to play from my phone speaker. It seems the only way to effect the music coming from Sonos system once I’ve linked via Spotify connect is to switch into the Sonos app. Its really quite frustrating. I want to be able to control my Sonos speakers from my Spotify app because the Sonos app doesn’t have the search functionality of Spotify. I like to explore and find new music, and you cann
Hi all - I have come home today and my Sonos S1 app will no longer connect to any devices or wifi. I am getting a screen like this: I have bee running and old bridge with older Play:1s and a Beam. I have tried fixing it in the S1 app, and have also tried disconnecting the Bridge and connecting the Beam directly to an ethernet cable whilst using the newer app. Neither of these seem to work. As far as I’m aware I’ve granted all the permissions I need too in iOS. No changes to my router which is a BT Smart Hub (an original one). I’ve tried the workaround of turning off the 5hz on this with no joy. Does anyone have any suggestions or know of any recent BT/iOS changes that may have happened. I have read through the older topic about the BT smart hubs and doesn’t seem applicable here? Thanks!!!
Hi All, I read Qobuz WQA is now supported on S2. Any news on when Tidal MQA/Master is due. I have just bought into the Sonos system from Bluesound but would love to get my Lossless back
Hi, I’m probably going to get murdered on the forum for this...(I did try to search, I really did), but I couldn’t find anything. So I have two Sonos Roams paired as a stereo set. I was wondering with the high end services like Tidal, Amazon Music HD and Apple Music (and I guess Sonos Radio HD), can the Roams push out the high end bit rates/sound quality? I may not be asking the question right..I hope it makes sense. Like I realize the Roams do not do Atmos (right)..so Spatial audio is out...but can they play lossless at that bit rate or is it downsized/compressed?I am a Sonos fan, and I replaced two Echo Studios to go with the Roams because I like the portability and the size of them. I realize I would be giving up Atmos or whatever Amazon calls it..but I was just curious.I recall seeing something way back that the Ones could not do more than “HD” level on Amazon and not the Ultra HD or 3D or whatever they called it..but I didn’t know if the Roams can do HD level ...or if any music ser
I know this has been posted before, but I don’t think an adequate solution has been offered. Like others, I don’t want anyone who is on my WiFi network to be granted access to my Sonos system by default simply by having the Sonos app. I realize guest networks are a thing, but this is not a solution for multiple systems on the same network. I would like my Sonos system to be accessible only by me, and if possible, users/accounts to whom I’ve given access. This would also be less of an issue if the Sonos app didn’t randomly forget which system on the network it is connected to, and try to connect to the wrong one. This has happened on a number of occasions. So this post is a combination feature request and bug report I suppose, but I’d take the feature request in a heartbeat. Thanks for reading.
My music was all on an external NAS drive which failed. Data recovery company restored the NAS content and I re-downloaded to new NAS and redirected my Sonos from MacBookPro and controller on iPad and iPhone. However now, if my Mac is ‘asleep’ neither controller will work. I get error message 1002 which seems irrelevant as I don’t have the device the error message refers to. Another error message is “Unable to play ‘track x’ - unable to connect to //Lois-[sirname]-MacBook-Pro/Music. I deleted the Controller app and reinstalled it. It played one album and when attempting to play a second album - the following long error message popped up: Unable to play ‘Album X’ - the file //Lois-[sirname}MacBook-Pro/Music/Music/Media.localised/Music/Jamiroquai/Jamiroquai - Travelling Without Moving/13 [Hidden Track].m4a cannot be foundWords fail me. Help!
I am using Navidrome & Bonob to self-host my music library for the Sonos from Synology. No SMB1 but you do need Docker.https://www.navidrome.orghttps://github.com/simojenki/bonobThe below instructions assume Docker is already installed and running on your Synology NAS. I am on DSM 7. Hopefully this helps some folks. I just tried to set a new alarm, but it says I have to delete one. Go back a step and it says no alarms set. They all disappeared. Help.
I keep on reading that according to Sonos very few users are still using their “Music Library” accessed by the archeic SMB version 1 protocol. I hate to break the news to the software engineers from Sonos - but the reason very few are still using it is purely because SMBv1 is extremely unsecure and was superseded by SMBv2 more than 15 years ago. Furthermore Sonos appearently only accepts the ridiculously unsecure authentication protocol NTLMv1 and the “newer” NTLMv2 that was introduced more than 23 years ago.So - the reason that very few users are riscing their network infrastructure is simply because they do not really have a choice - do they?On the other side - Sonos could implement SMBv2 and NTLMv2 support in their S2 line. One could even dream about full SMBv3 and Kerberos support …..However - I do not see that move from Sonos - because they claim we do not use NAS anymore.
