I have the old Sonos and am upgrading. Probably going with immersive Arc, some Play 5's, a Move, etcc.. Looking to play music throughout house and also play sound through our LG Smart TV in the main living room. I may also use a Beam for another TV> My question is will this all work and how do I use all the music that I have on mp3 files on my ccomputer? It seems they ddon't use a bridge anymore. Do I need to have a streaming service that allows me to upload from my computer? What streaming service do you all recommend? We have Iheart, but it doesn't allow uploads I believe. Thanks a ton in advance!!!
I was wondering if I could receive some assistance with trying to make sure that the Explicit filter is enabled when streaming music from the Amazon Music app. I can 'cast' the music from my phone in the Amazon Music app to the Sonos speakers directly. I have explicit filtering enabled both in the Amazon Music app and in the Sonos app. However, whenever I cast, I see a message in the Amazon app that says 'Block Explicit Songs is Unavailable while you are connected to the Sonos Speakers'. However, explicit content is still played.Any thoughts? We have young children and I'm often casting music from my phone. I really need this feature to work.*As a side note, we have an Echo Dot controlling the two Sonos speakers (One SLs). When using voice commands to play music, Explicit filtering works as intended. It only appears to be an issue when casting from the Amazon Music app. Thanks!
I have 5 Sonos speakers. When I play music from the Sonos app, I can control which speakers the sound is sent to. When I try and play music through Airplay, if I select one speaker, it plays to multiple speakers. Is there a way to fix this?
I do have a way that works great so far:Extract cover art (.jpg) from music file, import in any paint program, save as .tiff, load .tiff and save again as .jpg.Had something to do with Density Unit IIRC, forgot what exactly. But why is this work around needed? I need to do that for at least the last year, regardless if I buy old or new songs. I don’t think this is a Sonos issue, as I need to do the same for my Sony (digital) Walkman.Anyone has a solution or suggestion?
I converted a vinyl album to an MP3 file and added it to my music library on my MacBook Pro. It plays on my MacBook, but when I try to play it on Sonos it won't play. I have updated my music library, and the album appears in Sonos, but won't play. When I try to play it I get a short blip (like the scratch at the beginning of putting a need on the vinyl) and then an error message. What should I do?
Preliminary notes: These instructions have been tested with a Mac mini with macOS version Monterey, an Apple Music library of 25k tracks, a Synology NAS with DSM 7.0.1 and a Sonos Controller for Mac Version 13.4.1. Before starting the process make sure you have access to the NAS drive with sufficient access rights granted to the account (e.g. read/write to the music shared folder). To mitigate security issues for the music folders on the NAS you can create an account for the Sonos Controller with read access only. Feel free to follow these steps at your own risk.Step 1: setup the Apple Music Library on the NASWhen you open Apple Music with the Option key on the keyboard pressed you can choose to create a new Library. Create a new Folder on the Synology NAS, under the music shared folder, to create the Apple Music Library (e.g. MyMusic). Check in the Preferences the Files tab for Music Media location so that the directory path points to the NAS. Keep the Music Media folder organised and
I recently got a new place and would like to set up with Sonos eco system. I want to make sure if I get the followingLiving room (TV) - ARC, Sub Gen 3, One (total 4 - 2 front and 2 back)Bedroom (TV) - Beam, One (2 total) Office (Computer) - One (two total) 3 other bedrooms(future) additional OnesWill I be able to control them individually by room with two TVs and office computer playing at the same time? Can multiple users take care playing music by the room? Just like first question but via Spotify and not TV Do I need anything else to make sure I can do all the above items but need additional Sonos devices possibly? And I am assuming it is possible to play by one user with all sonos devices.
Whenever Sonos updates my personnal library from the Music app on my iMac, Sonos creates a iTunes folder with a «iTunes Music Library.xml» file. What it is useful to ?
Is there any news on Sonos getting an intercom function, to communicate speaker to speaker? I am torn between buying studio echo vs another S1....
My ‘Sonos 1’ app has stopped accessing my Synology DiskStation music folder after the recent DSM 7.0 update. It seems many others have had the same problems and one way around this is to enable NTLMv1 authentication in: ‘Files Services - SMB - Advanced Settings - Others’ on my Synology NAS. The only problem with doing that is that it increases significantly the risk of external attacks! Can someone please tell me how I can avoid this critical issue, or if there will be a fix in the near future from Sonos on the Sonos1 app? I cannot use the Sonos 2 app because I have several units in the house which are not compatible. Thanks in advance
I have a fair number of Sonos speakers throughout my house which can be thought of in 4 zones: upstairs, downstairs, garage, and patio. There is rarely, if ever, a case when I want all speakers on at the same time, so I would like to disable the ‘Everywhere’ default speaker group and only use my own. Is that possible?
Several months back there was an announcement that Arc would be able to play Atmos Music streamed from Amazon and maybe Apple? Latest 13.3.3 firmware update still doesn't provide this capability as far as I can tell. Anyone seen or heard anything new on this subject?
I listen to BBC Radio 4 every morning on my Sonos system. It's my alarm clock. This morning there is a short audio insert just before each hour telling me that the service will be stopping on March 22nd 2021 and that I should contact my service provider to ask them how I can continue to access the BBC content.I'm not in the UK, so the TuneIn service is still available (until now). What are the options for me to still receive my daily dose of British content over my Sonos system?iPhone related options are not applicable in this house.
As a record and turntable enthusiast, it would be nice to have the Sonos app detect a record is playing and automatically populate the app with the track listing and times. I know, I know, I can walk over and read the record, but we’re talking cool internetty tricks, right? This would be one of those. Thanks, Joe
As reported in many other topics apparently it's still necessary to use SMB1 for playing music from a Synology Diskstation system? It's now 2021 and I just had to change the settings on my diskstation to allow the unsecure SMB1 in order to be able to add a shared folder to my Sonos music library.Sonos seems to be closing all topics on this forum about this subject for further comments, but is not addressing the problem?
I subscribe to Sonos Radio HD. Why am I being advertised at within the app? Additionally, what kind of gerbil dev doesn’t at least check that the user isn’t in a menu or, say, the volume controls before popping up something like this? If you’re going to show these obnoxious CTA’s at least make the minimum effort to not be a d*** about it. Also also, if I tap anywhere outside the bounds of the ad, the reasonable expectation would be for it to dismiss. That little X is not very conspicuous. Anti patterns everywhere, unless you’re a parasitic advertiser. Might as well just put a Spin the Wheel modal; it wouldn’t be much lower on the bad-advertising food chain.Mod edit: removed bad language
I have alarms set on my Sonos Roam but am now on vacation and away from my home network and want to disable the alarms so they don’t go off every morning. Is there a way to do this with the Roam in Bluetooth mode?
Good evening (20,20 here in Italy), as topic title sais , i just ordered Beam gen 2 and 2 ikea symphonics bookshelves as surround (think thusday i will get them) , as i understand i can control the system also with alexa echo dot wich i have . I will setup the system with my ipad and probably from time to time when not watching tv I will stream music trought airplay 2 (amazon music spotfy youtube). My question is if my wife when im not at home can stream music with her smarthphone trought the sonos app in her phone or she cant (she can still use the echo dot or the spotfy connect app i guess). Basicly can this system being controlled from Sonos app installed on more than one phone without need to configure the sonos speaker again ?(guess my whife should log in the sonos app with my same account)Thx in advance for the answer and sorry for my really basic english skill (not using google translator :P)
I’ve ripped most of my old CDs and uploaded the files to a NAS so I can play them through the Music Library on Sonos. It would be great if I could view (not play, just view) my collection on my phone when I’m away from home, for the “do I already own this?” moments in a music store, or the “I have a great piece by [some group], but I can’t remember the name” moments with friends. Has anyone come up with an easy way to view their music library offline? (I know there are third-party apps, but if I don’t have duplicate my effort with 1000+ CDs, I’d rather not!)Thanks for any ideas!
I am installing SONOS Application 13.4.1 on a macOS computer running Monterey 12.1.I noticed during installation that SONOS requested permission to the computer’s Security&Privacy/Privacy/Accessibility setting, presumably, in order to control my computer.I would appreciate an explanation as to what specific control or functionality SONOS would like access to in this regard so that I can determine whether to deny / grant it access.Thank you.
Hi I have an old Play 5 speaker and a Play 3 one too.I’m using the S1 app for the 5 and the S2 app to control the 3 as i understand this is the only way to get both to work due to age.I’ve recently ripped some new cds and added onto my NAS drive (WD MyCloud) i can index them no problem on the S2 app but they do not appear on the S1 app when done so, so cannot be played on the 5. If i try to index on the S1 controller it just says to update itIs there anyway of resolving this ? So i can listen to my new purchases on the older Play 5 speaker ? 2nd questionI’m assuming that my Play 5 machine can only go as far as the S1 controller and doesnt have the capability to be run on the S2 app ? Thanks in advance Ed
Hello,Does anyone know the status of Play 3 hardware and if it is available on S2 Controller? The help article is useless, I’m not sure who wrote it but clearly a MS employee because it’s confusing and doesn’t really say anything!https://support.sonos.com/s/article/4786?language=en_US
Looking for some clarity. I have a recent Connect. (gen2, s15) I want to use it we a tablet that only runs the S1 software. I read that one can do a downgrade, but it seems as if that’s only true if you have other S1 equipment already in the system. Basically, it seems like the instructions from Sonos for the downgrade are incomplete. Sonos says do a reset, and then set up the system with S1. As far as I can tell, that does not work. From reading different sources, it seems like Sonos should say do a reset, turn on an S1 system/device, (and no S2 devices), and then add the item one is trying to downgrade to that system. Yes?
Volume down was working then just stopped. Volume up and mute works just fine. Using a TiVo remote. Tried pairing the remote again. Tried power cycling the arc and setting up the tv again.
each time a new song starts, the sonos app pops up. this is very irritating
