Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

I previously posted this in the 8.0 announcement thread, but I think these comments are important enough to merit their own thread. Most of it is copied, but I have made a few changes. After rolling back to v7.4 on Android via sideloading, my initial rage and frustration have subsided a bit, and hopefully my criticism is much more constructive. I read a comment from Ryan S. that there is no way to roll back the UI, but the team would work to fix any issues that impact user satisfaction. Here are the main issues and some suggestions for quick fixes. Ideally the team would really take the time to do their own research and remodel the interface from the ground up, however these items need to be triaged immediately. 1. Switching rooms Issue: The most obvious way to switch rooms from the now playing screen would be to click on the room name in red. Unfortunately this interface element only allows you to group rooms together. In order to even see the "Rooms" tab, you have to click on
Keep getting the message that an update for my desktop controller (iMac) is available but I get an error message when I attempt to download it. Anyone else have this problem?
For some reason I cannot un-group my speakers. Any advice? I've tried starting app, clearing app data, changing wifi and cannot get it to un-group. Diagnostics 8398933
The new interface is nearly impossible to use... it doesn't even make sense how it works in relation to the previous interface which was better than good enough. As someone that has thousands of dollars invested in sonos I have to voice my utter disgust for this new app. PLs comment below and lets get Sonos to roll back from this atrocious attempt at an upgrade.
Anyone know if f the desktop controller will see a significant update any time soon? Compared to all the updates to the app, it seems quite neglected.
After downloading the latest update today, the volume buttons on my iPhone S no longer control sonos volume. I have checked the settings, and “hardware volume control” is selected. Does anybody have any tips on how to restore the function? Thank you
I have variously 4 Sonos speakers (1s & 5s) and since upgrading my router to a Netgear Nighthawk I cannot get my iPhone SE to connect. My iPad, MacBook, iPod and PC connect seamlessly. I have gone through all the normal troubleshooting procedures and updated the Sonos software only today so all is up to date but to no avail. Deleted the app from my iPhone and reinstalled - zilch. Not a massive problem but a niggling issue which needs resolving. Couldn’t see any solutions in the forum that match this. Any ideas ?
Is there a timeline for when Truplay will be supported on the Iphone X? I did a system reset and I'm unable to tune my speakers now.
Does anyone know if there is a way to turn off shuffle and repeat? I looked in the settings but could not find it. It's very annoying that every time I want to listen to an album, I have to go into the player and turn these features off. I would rather be able to set the default to single play and in order. Thanks!
I received my first Sonos product over the holidays, and am LOVING it. As I was connecting all of my digital streaming services, I was surprised not to be able to find anything to connect my Audible account, and couldn't find a generic input where I could bootstrap it in. Am I missing something? Have others successfully found a way to troubleshoot this? Thanks.
I would like to be able to switch between rooms (players) by swiping the screen. I seem to recall that this was possible in an earlier version of the controller app but has since been removed. The current way is a bit cumbersome, even after the latest update.
Hi. When i try to open sonos i’m asked to update controller. I press update and am redirected to AppStore, but when i press open there i’m just sent back to sonos which says i must update, and so i’m sent back and forth.. help?
Updated from 8.2.2 on my PC just fine. However when I try to update to 8.3 on any of the three Apple devices I have once I hit the update link am asked if I want to open in Apple Store. 8.3 listed and Open button next to it. Doesn't update. Still have 8.2.2 I had to delete Sonos from my Apple devices, go to Apple store and download 8.3 and install.
Does anyone know when or if the Windows PC Sonos program/app will be updated to match the design and UI of the mobile app? I personally think that Sonos on computer has a very outdated look
Is there any way to revert back to the last app before the recent update? This latest update is just plain stupid.
I find no positives to the 8.2 Sonos upgrade that requires more steps to do what I used to do. However the worst change is that the only way My Stations is now displayed in Pandora is with most recently played at the top. Seriously? After years of alpha order now it's not even an option. Many Sonos users don't just listen to the same handful of tracks over and over. Others who want sanity restored please pile on!
I have all of my music on my IPad. I have several Sonos devices and recently purchased the new “One.” When I ask Alexa to play music, she pulls it from Amazon. I would like it if she could tap into my IPad. I enjoy listening to playlists that I have created. Please make is so Siri and Alexa can talk to each other!
While some of the changes made to the app during these updates may be welcome, the one I’ve waited ages for is to be able to play Audible through my Sonos speaker. When will you be able to get around to making the ability to use Audible through the speaker without the need for leads (which sort of defeats the object really.!!)?? This is long over due now ?
I'd like to see Sonos do what Spotify does where you can blend the end of one song into the next, so that there is no pause between the start of two songs. Would really help the flow in my classes.
Recient Updates are more difficult to work with.
Can you do something about the OSX visual design? It's butthole ugly... It seems like it was designed in 2006.
Is there any way to export playlists to excel, or at least take a backup??
My SonosOne speaker was named Bathroom on my app, but it keeps saying it is Kitchen 2. I have done a complete reset, but it doesn't change.
When I try and unselect the current room that is selected on the app, it unselects, and then I select another room and press done - the old room is still selected. There seems to be no way to select another room. Currently I'm using an Android tablet. I've tried this on another iPhone. Same problem. Is nobody else having this problem?
I have hearing aids that are MFi (made for iPhone). This just means that they are designed to integrate with iPhones proprietary protocol over Bluetooth and audio integrates well with it including music playback and phone calls. The sonos app for some reason utilized Bluetooth while the app is running. I can tell because my hearing aids are setup to automatically decrease its external mic volume when audio streaming is active (so I can hear the streaming audio and external “real world” audio is not as amplified). Every time I start the sonos app, my hearing aids noticeably change in audio profile and the mic volume decreases. Why is the sonos app utilizing Bluetooth in this way?
