Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

The Windows desktop controller used to work fine, but it now just displays a square Sonos logo for a few seconds then shuts down without even getting to the point of displaying the main software form. I've downloaded and installed the latest version and have done a full shutdown and restart of my laptop. Any clues?
Since updating my controllers to 9.0, the app keeps freezing up on my iOS devices. I have to close the app and stop it from running in the background before starting it up again. It will briefly work again before freezing again. I have deleted the app, shut down my device and reinstalled it. Still have the same issue. Anyone else having the same experience? And will this be fixed?
Is there any way to get Windows to see the Sonos controller app as a media player so the dedicated media keys on many keyboards can be used? The keyboard shortcuts already available are not as convenient as the dedicated Play/Pause, Next Track etc. keys I already have. Also, they only work when the Sonos app has the focus. If I'm reading or playing a game I can't use the keyboard shortcuts. If you could make the Sonos app respond to media keys it would be very convenient. Thanks.
Got a sub today. I love the output but I’m having a bit of an issue. Due to my room layout I can only position the sub to the side of my sitting position. Low sub tones are generally non directional but I find that the sub also seems to handle a lot of mid tones for some reason which means that my ear can locate its position. It is rather annoying. Is there a way to change the crossover frequency with the beam so that the beam handles the low mid tones and the sub concentrates just on the deep notes? In an ideal world I would move the sub closer to the beam at the front near the tv but unfortunately it’s not possible.
Sonos app allows me to add single titles to playlist but doesn't provide a function to add and play full albums at once.
hi, any way we can rename rooms with the Sonos Desktop Version ? I am using Version 10.0 thanks for your reply. f
I updated my system composed of two paired one’s and the moment that finished sound stopped coming out of one pair and the controller now just continually says I need to check for updates. It does that, says no updates are available, then goes back to the screen saying check for updates. No chance/ability to repair and tune, what gives?
I've got a $19 MP3 player hooked to my home audio system continually playing a mix of 80s music -- and it plays randomly. I'd love to be able to do this with my Sonos Connect but I don't think it's an option - but could be. I'd like to have a long playlist that I can put on random (shuffle) AND repeat all. I do NOT want it to keep repeating the tracks in the same order each time it starts over (which is what currently happens). It should randomly play each song once (which shuffle does) and then play each song again in a different random order - forever. Said another way, once the last song in the shuffled play list has been reached, I'd like it to re-shuffle the playlist and then start again from the top. If I've missed some option, please share. If not, I hope some devs are reading the forums... I know this isn't a tough feature to implement -- the UI design would be the longest meeting (where would we put that option? ;-)) BTW: I'm playing songs from my local library
Please allow for the volume slowly increase for alarms and decrease it for sleep mode. The feature I envision would be an option for alarms and sleep which takes a fade-in or fade-out time. A default time of 5 minutes is reasonable. When enabled the alarm will start at just above 0 volume and gradually increase to the volume configured for the alarm over the configured fade-in time. Likewise, once the sleep timer reaches the fade-out time remaining the volume will gradually decrease to zero over the configured fade-out time.
There have been reports that, on some Huawei Android phones like the P20 Pro, music playback stops after the phone goes to sleep, presumably because the phone kills the Sonos app. This happens despite exempting the app from battery optimisation (see the steps in the second link): https://en.community.sonos.com/troubleshooting-228999/streaming-on-android-6806131/index1.html#post16308919 https://www.reddit.com/r/Huawei/comments/9w44bz/p20_pro_and_sonos_keeps_stopping/ Has this been fixed? Is it a known issue? Are there Huawei users which can make the Sonos app work just fine? On a more technical note, is the Sonos app set as a foreground service? This should help prevent the OS from killing it I know I can benefit from a generous return period when I buy the Sonos, but I'd like to get the full picture before I decide to pull the trigger. Thanks!
Trying to Trueplay a room, no room set up on my iPad. Where did it go?
They have ruined the PC interface.
How do I stop popup notification in the corner of Mac screen every time song changes? 🙂
What happened to seeing what is playing on the lock screen on your iOS device? I know it still shows a small window, but it used to show the whole screen with a black background. The new one is cheesy looking. Go back to the old one like the android.
Has anybody loaded 10.0 onto an Amazon Fire Tablet?
We can download and install controller, but cannot run program
New 9.2 Update on PC's - Windows is Black & White, no more deep Blue and no more subtle SonosGlyphics. As also noted in another Topic, the Windows based Controller no longer has the Add Player Option. I was told that this capability is now only on Mobile Ap's. All of this makes no sense to me, I do not like the look o f the New Windows Controller at all, and don't like that I can't use a PC or Laptop to Add a Player. I understand that Sonos wants to be sure to support Mobile, as the way of the future, but why do they need to spend resources to actually Reduce the Quality of the Windows Controller !? why not save the money and let us keep what we already had !?
How do I change room names?
Any possibility to have an optionnal switch to mute the Sonos music when the iphone rings and is answered. The volume controls are not accessible when the iphone rings and I have to run ouside the house to answer the phone with a customer on the line... Would it be possible to have a switch to auto mute the Sonos when I answer a phone call?

Need to be able to schedule Night Sound. This feature has been asked for over a long period and needs to be included in a future update.
I've seen a post that was over a year old about this so I figured that I would start a new topic. Firstly, I think that Sonos has the best sounding, easy to set up, and easy to use system out there. I have had nothing negative to say until this morning. This morning, when I arrived to work I opened up my Google Play tab and started a playlist. After the first song, it stopped with an error saying: "Can't play music on two devices at once." Dang, I must have forgotten the speaker in my bedroom on and did not hear it on the way out. I am sure that I am not the only one that has had this issue. Apart from being able to solve this issue with the ability to control the system remotely, there are several other reasons why this feature would be great. 1.) Forgot to turn off system before leaving 2.) Left early or gone for vacation but you've not disabled your alarms 3.) You work from home and have to VPN into work, which causes the inability to control Sonos 4.) Remote support, fo
A Sonos customer suggested: " Sonos controller app to be able to search function with in a Sonos playlist. " Show your support on this thread.
I use Spotify but prefer a lot of things about the Sonos app (I use Windows 7 and desktop controller)--like the fact that it only has one queue. Unfortunately, Spotify integration with Sonos is poor, but I might live with that except for one thing. I use the "play/pause" button on my keyboard to turn on and off the music. For Windows Media Player, the old Zune/Groove apps, and the Spotify app, it works as expected--when I hit pause, it pauses, and the app doesn't have to have focus. But the Sonos desktop controller doesn't handle that keypress unless it's the foreground app. I'm a programmer, so I know when you say "it's only software" that doesn't mean it's easy... but this is so small I wish they would fix it!
Hi. I just bought a Sonos Connect and have it setup to work with Integra DRX4.2. Works great - turns on the system and I can control the volume from the app. However when I finish listening, I normally press Pause on my other Sonos speakers (Play5s, Play3s etc). I don't think there's a stop function right? My question, is there a way stop the music and turn off the Integra receiver? Otherwise I can stop the music but then have to manually go to my receiver to turn it off. Thanks.
