I have an older Samsung Tablet GT-P7510) at the moment running Android 4.0.4. It's based in the kitchen used for family stuff. I thought it would be obvious to use this tablet also as a Sonos controller running the Sonos app, but... (and I am aware others have described this problem, but I have not yet found an acceptable solution..). The Sonos app will not run, saying it needs a newer Android version, but when I try to do a software update, I am told there is no new update available. Since using another device is not an option (or rather I do that also), I think I have three options: Somehow upgrade the Android from anther source than the Play store, but is that possible, will it work, will it be stable? Somehow downgrade the Sonos controller app to a version that works with the Android version I have, but is that possible and where would I find older versions? Find a third-party app or a web based service for controlling my Sonos system but do they exist, do they work? This
How do I play my iPhone apps through sonos. In particular the “calm” app?
I am not sure if this has been proposed befrore, but I did not find any related threads. I am running into the problem to quickly/easily adjust the Sonos volume from my Windows 10 computer (context: sound source via line-in). If I want to do this task, I need to launch the controller, wait a few seconds, then shift the mouse to the respective Sonos window, and adjust the volume. The aspect I dislike the most is that I need to open a window just in order to change the volume. What I am suggesting is an icon next to the Windows system volume icon on the right side of the Windows task bar (next to the clock). When you click it, it should work exactely like the Windows system volume slider - an up/down slider for the Sonos volume -- potentially with multiple sliders representing multiple speakers and overall volume (and potentially let the user select which speakers appear in this menu, i.e. those speakers she/he controls frequently from that computer). Thanks for considering thi
One of my Android controllers upgraded itself to 10.2 today (despite NOT having auto update enabled) and lost connectivity. A few days ago this controller, which I stress did NOT have auto update enabled started to update its software from 10.0 and I managed to prevent this. Initially, I wasn't too bothered since sonos touted their update as 'performance and reliability improvements' and didn't think any issue would ensue. Generally I do like to run updates. In order to keep things level and have a hope of keeping my devices with the same version (i.e functional) I updated my other controllers. 10.2 I later found has prevented access of my wireless controllers to sonosnet. So, now, when I'm stood next to a wired player, which is a considerable physical distance from my router I now have to walk with my phone (or other wireless controller) so that I'm within connectivity distance to my router's reception so that I can control the features of the device that I was stood next to. I
I have come to accept that Sonos do not see an immediate future in offering support for high resolution audio files due to hardware limitations etc. I also am not concerned with whether or not high resolution audio files sound better than their redbook counterparts. It is however an unfortunate fact that some masters of some albums have been treated with better care and attention, and/or optimised for a high fidelity listening environment, and these are often only available digitally in a high resolution format. I'm sure I am not the only Sonos customer to have purchased some of these files, and it's extremely annoying to hit play on a track only to be greeted with silence and a minor glitch. My request is to enable some sort of downsampling technology at a software level so that the resulting file which is ultimately streamed to one's Sonos speaker is at whatever the nearest maximum supported bitrate/sampling rate is. I guess much like Bluetooth's SBC codec.
I am an industrial electromechanical tech and was thinking that this system would be perfect for many day to day functions beyond just music. voice time clock with option to configure how often. one could also have app to connect into your android phone that could read allowed using speech engine notifications (email alerts, msgs from phone, social updates etc). make a wired/wireless door bell module. music follow me function easy click or auto room detection there are many things this could become.
I'm really in love with my Sonos system. I own Play:1, Play:3 and Play:5 and I'm considering buy more components. The only unhappy thing I find is the volume control bar in the app (on any version: phone, tablet, desktop, etc.): I think that is such a bit difficult to precisely control the volume. Sometimes I find hard to select the desired volume to me with the really short bar you provide in the app. It alway goes too hi or too low. I'd rather prefer a precision wheel (or even a bar) where I could choose accurately a value from 0 to 100 (or even from zero to 250, or whatever) in order to get a better control on the amount of volume. I hope you'll find helpful my suggestion to improve the app experience. I think it's a question of software that you can easily manage.
how to change background color in the sonos app
Have just downloaded the latest app update for both iPad and iPhone. The on my device is there on my iPad but not there on iPhone. I have deleted the app and re installed but it is not there.
I use both Artist and Album Artist tags frequently for my tracks. Sonos desktop controller (other controllers probably do the same) shows Artist in the information screen for the track, but when I select Artist Info->View Tracks by This Artist, the controller does not match anything. This is because Sonos interprets Album Artist (when it's not empty) tag as Artist, and the actual Artist appears only as Contributing Artist (if enabled in the controller's settings), but the search functions does not include the Contributing Artist field. Very inconvenient. Please, add Contributing Artist field in the Search function!
I use apple music through my Sonos setup. There is a great feature in apple music that is not available in the sonos app. Shuffling all the music by a particular artist in my library. Right now I can see all of the music I have by a particular artist but there is no "Shuffle all" button. That would be a great feature. There are many times when I know what artist I want to hear but rather than picking an album I would just like to hear everything I have by that artist. Thanks for considering this.
In-app searches yield no results across Spotify and my other services. I reset the Sonos controller but the problem persists. What gives?
My iPhone controller app has changed it's language to Norwegian by itself. I could not find any settings to reset it to English. I removed the app and reloaded it but it's still in Norwegian. I'm living in Finland and would prefer English in my controller app.
On Music Source Make Line In an Actual Source Name On the Music Menu it would be nice to have it "say" the actual Line-In instead of just "Line In". When you go to search the Music Menu you would see "Living Room" or "Bar Sound" instead of "Line In" then going to the line in sources. Trying to tell people what LINE IN means actually confuses them. We all here understand but need a different way to "hide" the Line In and just go straight to the line in source. Make sense?
When I startup the Sonos app, it always shows some music playing, when actually there is no sound coming from the Play:1 speakers. I assume it is the last music I was playing on the speakers days or weeks ago. I then select a music playlist and click on Play or Shuffle and the music I just selected plays just fine. So how can I "STOP" the music from looking like something is playing on the Sonos app?....not just pause it?
In a multi-room setup it would be useful to have only the closest speaker active, i.e. other speakers fade out as you leave a room and fade in once you enter a room.
The iPhone app and Mac desktop app no longer include the "I'm tired of this track" feature. What gives?
A week or so ago the Sonos app on my OSX Mac (10.11.6) got stuck. A dialog window popped up and recommended an update. I clicked "Let's do this" and the updater got stuck mid process. Unable to quit /cancel. Only option was to force-quit. Work around: I repeated the above process 2x and decided to get a fresh download of the 10.2 installer. Doing a fresh install from tis installer worked easily and correctly.
I would like to store my music library on the Fire 7 tablet. Can I then use this to link my Sonos app to the music library? I currently have a PC but I would like to replace it with something that takes less space!
I have a Boost installed, it created a network which I was able to see it and connect to it through my mobile devices. I am no longer able to see the boost network although the Boost is properly connected. Also, there an option in the app to activate this network I also no longer see the option.
Is there any way to Reorder Music Sources, so that my most used are at the top and I don't have to go through the whole list of music services to get to my TV source? If not, please consider this a feature request. Thanks,
Anyone out there know if it's possible to shuffle the order of the 'music sources' that appear in your list (desktop app)? Same question for the 'browse' menu in the mobile app. Thx!
In response to @jupean on Twitter: http://twitter.com/jupean/status/466288981475602432 Hey @Sonos @SonosSupport Love the new client - can I reorder the universal search results by Service - I want Spotify and Napster at top
My iPad2 can't take the new IOS so I can't update the Sonos software. Ok, I was left with a slightly limited functionality but it worked. Now it won't work at all as I can't do an update. This is absurd! So I need to but a new iPad so that I can operate Sonos on it? This doesn't show much consideration for your customers. Is there a workaround?
Hi all I want to keep using sonos 9.2. I dont want to update. Can I? If I update to any other Sonos controller, I also need to update to macOS 10.11, which I cant. Can I please keep using the product I paid for without having to update? Many thanks
