Controllers and Music services

Likely a silly question, but ….  Recently, I purchased a Mac Mini for my home desktop computer. On the other side of the fence, we are big SONOS users throughout our home with multiple speakers and connects. So, how can I integrate sounds from my MacMini computer with a SONOS speaker? And by sounds, I mean Zoom meetings, Movies, iTunes Music, Sirrius Radio - any sound generated through the MacMini. I can have a dedicated speaker (either a soundbar or Sonos 1) if needed. This seems super simple, but I am not seeing any documentation based on the my recent research.  Thank you in advance for any help anyone can supply.    Chip

Having been a Premium Spotify user since 2012, there now more HD music services avaliable. Is it worth leaving Spotify for one of other services. Is sound quality much better? App intergration etc.   What are peoples thoughts?

I’m as confused as hell!! I had WiFi issues so I have just added TP_Link Deco P9 mesh network. I have 2 PCs hard wired to my Virgin Hub 3.0 Broadband router and sonos works fine. I changed all the Wifi devices including mobile phones to the NEW Wifi network name and password.  Now the SONOS android app only picks up ONE of my 11 Sonos speakers.  I tried everything. I even tried to revert to my old network name and password but I only got one option to do this. THis is offered only when no network is detected ? I cannot find anything in the android app to change the network or password? The confusion is that I now have 2 networks…. A wired one and a wireless network covering the entire property. I use the wired network 90% of the time while my family use the Wifi Only.  Please HELP!!

Hi all, my first post so bear with me on this :) So I have a sonos play 1 (x3), playbar and sub in my living room. My music is a mixture of streamed content but also some albums i have ripped in to mp3 or Flac/WAV on my Nas Drive. What I am trying to work out is how I can enhance my music fidelity further. Specifically with the source content I want something that can host my content (USB drive), stream and have a higher quality DAC. My NAS is just too noisy to remain on all the time…. Furthermore I am thinking of adding some more speakers down the road but these may or may not be Sonos specific. It would be great if there was something that had a screen too.   I was thinking of a Nanomesher DAC 2 (pi based) but also others.   I also have a Fiio M6 and was wondering if there was a way to bridge that or have it appear as a sonos target to use to stream from.   sorry guys a bit of a ramble there, just exploring opti

Hi, I use the superb Poweramp app on my new android. So I’ve exported my playlists from Poweramp into the default ‘Playlists’ file on the android. Each playlist is a .m3u8. I don’t think Sonos can handle .m3u8? so I’ve renamed a couple of them simply as .m3u in order to get it working. So my problem is how can I access these playlists and play through my Sonus 1 speaker? In the Sonos app, I’ve gone: Settings > System > System Settings … Music Library … Music Library Setup > Add Shared Music Folder - and I then get the ‘Add New Share’ form. But whatever I put in there, it just shows an X at the end - indicating presumably that my file address is incorrect. My ‘Playlists’ folder is in my standard Files folder in Android so I’ve tried loads of variations around Internal storage/Playlists; Internal storage/Music etc but all I get is the X i.e. Internal storage/Playlists X and can’t get any further. So to recap - can anybody help here with ‘how to connect Sonos to 3rd party play

I consider to buy sonos one speakers. Are there airplay-apps available to stream f.i. youtube music from my android tablet to sonos one? Kind regards, Bert

We spend a lot of time grouping and ungrouping rooms. The issue is stems from my wife's use of Party Mode. She likes to use Party Mode while she is cooking. I ungroup the outside speakers so as not to offend the neighbors. I ungroup the upstairs when the kids go to bed. I turn everything off and then create a new group to set the morning alarm. In the morning, I create a group in the kitchen and family room to read the paper. There has to be a better way! Why can't we just create groups of rooms and label them something easy to remember like "Cooking", "Kids in bed", "Alarm" or "Morning Coffee"?

I use the Sonos Controller from a PC with the latest Sonos update installed. I have all my music stored on a NAS drive. What I usually do is update the iTunes library with new tracks and then go 'Update Music Library Now' so I can see my music available in Sonos. Problem is that whenever I press on the 'Update Music Library Now' option, nothing happens i.e. the indexing doesn't start. Only solution I found so far is to force Sonos to re-index the entire music folder by removing the music folder from the Music Library Settings and add it again. Works but not very elegant... Note that the 'Update Music Library Now' option is NOT grayed out i.e. option is active but it doesn't initiate the indexing process. Needless to say that the NAS drive is visible and has the permissions wide open. Using the same exact Sonos setup, the 'Update Music Library Now' option used to work like a charm for years but for some reason it's no longer wor

Without wishing to go over old ground as I am sure this will have been discussed before, I have grave concerns about the longevity of my system components. Like many of you I bought into the Sonos experience back in 2008 and invested a few thousand pounds to get up and running. Over the years I have added other components to enhance the experience. Back in those early days and over the next few years I have to say that the whole experience of Sonos was fantastic. The build quality of the components being right up there with Apple. A few years ago the CR100 dedicated controller was rendered obsolete; a few months ago my iPad was rendered obsolete as a Sonos controller; I am informed that my iMac desktop has less than a year to go as a controller because it cannot support many more updates. Hi, Had SONOS many years and been quite happy with streamed Spotify and feeding via Connect from my HIFI. However now trying the higher quality streaming available. The issue I have is that if I use Qobuz via the app and Airplay its clear I am playing CD/FLAC but there is nothing in SONOS other than Qobuz place (FLAC) in brackets after the track name. If I search for say the Adele 21 album and then select Play the album is played in 320 but if I select each track individually the CD (FLAC) track version is played.  Is there a way to ensure I pick up the higher quality track if available?

How do i turn off wifi on hard wired players? I am having a problem with the TV Input on Sonos Amp.. it’s attached to TV via optical cable.  It will work intermittently, then essentially stops working and the controls are greyed out. Volume slider does nothing either.  All other sources work fine.  Any thoughts?    

My wife and I have Samsung Galaxy S5 phones running Android v 6.0.1 OS After the recent Sonos software update, we can no longer change many of our Sonos systems settings. We were able to access these systems settings from ours S5 phones before.  Our carrier, Verizon, does not offer a later OS for our phones and we don’t want to buy new phones at this time. This is particularly disappointing since I just purchase two more Sonos5 speaker’s and could not set them up from my S5 Phone. Please tell me why the basic setup functions should not be backward compatible with earlier Android OS’s How long will it be until I can no longer control my Sonos devices from my S5 running Android v 6.0.1?

Ok. Your app only works half the time on my Iphone XR. It wont connect to my wifi internet at my house again. This is a constant problem. I pay all this money to have this through my entire house and i have to deal with this. No its not a internet problem because everything else works just fine and yes i did reset my wifi time and time again and still nothing. yes i did reset and reboot my phone and nothing. Ive done all the basic trouble shooting and once again it still does not work. Please help

Hi Team,  I tried adding another music service and the option is greyed out, inactive on my android Sonos controller.  I them went to check for system updates and it says I need an update, currently have Version 10.5.1 - Build 53371041.  Clicked on update and it took me to Google play store, which then presented two options - uninstall or open. Selected open and it cycled me back to controller to update, this loop went on for several tries and now I need your help. Thanks,Chris M.

Can you make your Sonos have no Wi-Fi signal at all? My step had has been reading that Wi-FI and EMF are bad for you. so I’m not allowed to buy anything that as a Wi-Fi Signal. Any suggestion?

I'm setting up overhead music in the office and showroom. I am using WiFi, that is open to all employees. How do I password protect or disable Airplay option so employees are not accidentally (or on purpose) take over and broadcast whatever they pleased from their phones?

Since recent software update and Airplay support seems anyone on same wlan as my sonos can 'takeover' the system from YouTube/iOS devices to play whatever they are listening to, whilst its great that sonos now supports Airplay, please consider an option to disable this feature or restrict access to authorised sources/controllers, My kids have found it very entertaining that they can now control my sonos system irrespective of what is playing via Airplay.

Just got the message Sonos will no longer support IOS devices . Looks like it’s time to sell my speakers .
