Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

Hi there, I have a LG TV 2019 Airplay enabled that is connected to a Playbar. When I am Airplaying to the TV and the Playbar is connected via optical I cannot change the volume from my iPhone with the volume controls as I can do when airplaying to my Play One. If I change the sound output on the TV from Optical (Playbar) to TV Speakers I am able to change the volume with the iPhone volume controls when Airplaying. Thanks in advance. Cheers
So it is 4pm on the 8th June here and still no Sonos S2 update. Hmmmmm.
Will trueplay finally be supported on android with the launch of the s2 app?
Since I installed the S2 app on my iPhone 11, I noticed my battery got drained rapidly. See picture below: The Screen Off is 54 min. meaning the Sonos S2 app is active in the background doing something... I had no issue using the original Sonos app before. I have to swipe out manually the app to prevent the battery from draining. Anyone experiencing the same issue?
I was really excited to hear that Sonos was going to support hi-res audio, but I had a tough S2 transition. After reconfiguring both my main wireless and Sonos networks, I’m able (so far) to hear songs all the way through and have not had a device go missing in days! After this work, S2 still is very, very slow to load. Worse, it seems like a song will start to play before the buffer has enough data. So I will lose the first few seconds, then have a rough few seconds, then have the song settle in. This happens when, say, playing something from Amazon Music on Sonos. It doesn't seem to happen once the queue is up and running, unless songs are skipped and rebuffering is needed. It does not happen with internet radio on Sonos, which is much lower fidelity. It also does not seem to happen with my networked music files on Sonos, maybe because they’re 360K MP3’s and local, don’t need much buffering. We have a very fast network connection and I have no lags at all when using the Amaz
Now that S2 has arrived and folks are sending in their hate mail since their favorite feature wasn’t included (or exactly the way they wanted) I figured I would jump up on a very small and rickety soapbox for my gripe. Sonos has shown they have the UI skills to surface the received audio format information into the UI I’d love to see it expand to the format beyond just the DD/Atmos logo for the Arc. basically, surface any of the information we all currently have to dig into the About My System screen to find. The Atmos logo is a start; complete the process.
With the new upgraded Sonos app, I can no longer add songs through the app to my Spotify playlist. It just allows me to “Save to Your Music”. Here’s a picture of all the options available when trying to add. This is a problem, the old version had more options and you could very simply access the Spotify playlists - now you cannot - that’s a problem for me! any help thanks!
Does it make sense Sonos APP for Mac to be taking so much memory (~2GB) , or I am the only one having the issue with it ? Does the newest Sonos update allow us to stream at cd-quality from the Amazon Music app or do we still need to use the Sonos app to do so?
iOS Just updated, but don’t know what is new.
I can't dismiss the Sonos android notification anymore.
Hello there. I’ve got a Sonos One updated to S2. I was thinking about getting a Tidal sub for the sound quality. I know there was talk of S2 including the new ability for Sonos speakers to play high fidelity streams. Has that now happened? If I play a Tidal HiFi account through my Sonos One will I get the HiFi quality stream? Is that now live ? Thanks for any help.
I know this is a minor thing, but I’m bugged by the long name under the new S1 icon on iOS. One of the things I love most about Sonos products is the clean look, so the new ...’s on my home screen are a peeve. If it says S1 on the icon, no need to say it underneath as well. Anyone else?
I download the S2 app, I did he installation and the I execute the app. I enter in the app, but I can not to do anything. The next picture shows the screen with the “use condition” but I cant to go the next step into the sonos setup. What is wrong???
I am trying to figure out which of my Sonos products are not compatible with S2. I downloaded the S2 app, but it tells me it found products on my network that are not compatible with S2. I’ve looked at the compatibility page, and it appears all my products should be compatible with S2 - I have a number of Play1’s, Play5’s (2nd gen), playbars and subs. My full product list is below. Which one(s) is not compatible? I have reviewed several discussions on this, but have not found an answer (at least the one I hope to find, lol). The Sonos Port does see my Asset UPnP server and I can select individual tracks to play. I can also add tracks individually to the queue, but am looking for a way to add the entire album to the queue at once. Selecting each song and then “Add to End of Queue” is a bit tedious. So is there a way to add the entire album at once? This function is available on another streamer I have (Moon MIND) so It seems it would also be available on the Sonos.
I’ve had trouble with the Music Library in the past with S1 (since the latest Mac OS update). I finally got it to work by turning off the firewall and giving privledge to the Sonos controller (Security & Privacy) for the disk access. Now….I noticed there is only S1 Apps available to choose. And there is something called SonosLibraryServer but no S2. The S2 app installed OK and works on other services but not my own music library (iTunes). At any rate, I had to turn off the firewall again and although the S2 controller found all the music files and lists them, I get an error when it tries to play them (file not found). I’m going to keep fiddling’ but if somebody knows the secret...please ring in.
Updated speakers and iOS devices to S2, but no sign of an S2 app yet for Mac OS - clicking the download links on the web site still take you to the S1 version, and no way in the app on Mac OS to update
Hi there, I've never posted here before so please bear with me. How can I stop S1 to S2 update? I don't want S2 based on the negative reviews and my understanding was I could stick with S1. I have a play 1 and play 3 bought around 2013 and 2011 so I assume they are legacy. I am using Android 10 on a Sony Xperia xz2. When I start S1 it prompts me to update to S2. It's done this for a few days. I seemed to be able to stop this prompt by shutting down and restarting the app but this no longer works. I am stuck on this prompt screen and can't get past it. s1 was working just fine for my system. So I would like to stay with S1 but the prompt shows compatibility issues. Any help would be appreciated. thanks
Hello, everyone. I have a houseful of Play:1 speakers (stereo paired) and a Play:5 (1st Gen). After all these years, I am finally subscribing to a music service instead of using my own library of mp3’s stored on a hard disk. I currently have Amazon Unlimited and have an Alexa, so it is great to just say “Alexa, play the album XXX in the living room,” and it starts playing. But I’m fully embedded in the Apple ecosystem (desktop, laptop, iPads, iPhone, AirPods, AppleTVs). So I would really like to use Apple Music and Siri. Yes, I bought a pair of HomePods, but they are not nearly as good as a pair of Play:1’s. (I’m about to write a scathing review of HomePods everywhere I can to dissuade people from buying them.) I have a trial membership with Apple Music right now. I’ve activated it on the Sonos App. So I can use the App to manually play music through Sonos. However, I would like to be able to use my voice: “Hey Siri, play XXX in the living room.” I know that the Sonos One has voice co
I am trying to install the S2 App on a Samsung Galaxy S9, But it will not install. I get to the User agreement. Then there is no icon to accept terms.
Whilst I understand that my Sonos Play 3 (first gen) doesn’t support Apple Air Play, why is it possible to stream Spotify music on my Play 3 directly from the Spotify iPhone app, yet it’s not possible to stream directly from my Apple Music app?
When I try to upgrade to the Sonos 2 app on my Macbook Air (using Mojave), it downloads and then when it tries to install, I get a failed message every time. Any ideas?
I don’t know that the way S2 handles room selection is ideal. (The following is all based on having S2 set to ask me what speakers/rooms to play on after “a while.”) When I select something to play, the speaker/room selection card pops up and asks where I want to start playing my selection. I have a Play:1 in the kitchen and a pair of Play:5s + Sub in our living room, all grouped as my “Main Floor” and another pair set up as my “Upstairs.” If I was previously listening to music using Main Floor, the card still has those 2 speaker sets individually selected, but it does not seem to remember that those 2 speakers are also a group. (Main Floor shows as unselected.) Things are further compounded if I go to select Upstairs. It simply adds my upstairs pair to the 2 “ungrouped” speakers that were previously playing. On top of that, if I truly did want to play music across all 4 speaker sets, that would actually be my entire Sonos set-up (thus, “Everywhere”) except Everywhere does not get ac
I just want to experience Dolby Atmos on Sonos Arc. I have disconnected Arc from TV Downloaded Tidal and subscribed HiFi plan I found “Dolby Atmos” playlist created by Tidal and played few songs I do not see anything on S2 app to indicate that whether it's playing “Atmos” or not. What would be the easiest way to experience Dolby Atmos on Sonos Arc?
