Controllers and Music services

Until today, I was under the impression that I could only Airplay to devices that are enabled with this capability. In my case only my Amp is identified in my Sonos app as having this capability. None of my other older devices are identified as Airplay compatible.However, this morning I was playing a programme from the  BBC Sounds app and was streaming it via Airplay to my Amp, but to my surprise I heard the same programme being played through my other speakers in other rooms.it seems that if, in Sonos, I select Amp plus other speakers, Airplay not only plays through the Amp but to theseother speakers as well.Is this news to anyone else?

Hi all!Finally got Nintendo Switch for my 4 year old. I do know that I can not get surround on my Playbar, Play 3 and SUB but I can barely hear anything and must crank the volume to 75 % !!!!! to hear something in stereo, i presume. How do you haver your Switch/Tv setup?Thank youNeven

Bonjour,J’ai à la maison un système SONOS très complet et qui me porte satisfaction. Satisfait, j’ai donc investi sur plusieurs enceintes que je souhaite installer ns nos bureaux qui se situens à une adresse différente. Nous pourrons harmoniser l’écoute dans l’ensemble des bureaux ou au choix chacun pourra diffuser sa musique favorite dans son bureau. Je ne souhaite pas donner mes codes à mes collaborateurs pour qu’ils utilisent l’enceinte de leur bureau. Je serais donc le seul qui pourras utiliser deux système différents et je souhaite dissocier mon utilisation pro de celle perso.  Dois-je installer une seconde application sur mon smartphone? Avec un second Login? Hi there,I have been using a sonos for several years now and I am considering getting rid of it.Whey ? The sound is OK, just fine but when you have thousands of title and you want to find one using the search tool of your GUI, you have 99% chances not finding it.How come, in 2021, a company like yours could not improve such a basic feature?Thanks

I use the Sonos 1 Ap to control:A TV surround with a Beam and two Play 1 (first gen)A grouped pair with a Play 1(first gen) and a Play One (second gen)If I buy a Move and swap with the single Play 1 will the whole system work on the updated Sonos Ap?  How does the Neam/ play 1 surround work?  

For the past couple of weeks, I was problematic about my Sonos Playbase. I thought it had a physical defect because after three years of usage, the sound all of a sudden was very tinny--all treble and no bass. For troubleshooting, I went through process of resetting each Sonos (I have a 5.1 system of Playbase, Sub and 2x Play:1), and setting it up from scratch and then tuning with Trueplay at the end. I did this twice. There was no improvement. So I wrote CEO Patrick an email and got a reply from Sonos Support. They assigned me a Case # and I was waiting for an RMA from Sonos appointed distributor Tat Chuan Acoustics in Singapore (I’m located in the Philippines). I decided to separate the satellites so I could use the Play:1’s with the Sub for music in the meantime. While playing Spotify, I went into the app and tapped on “Remove Surrounds”. Instantly, and to my pleasant surprise, the Playbase sounded normal again. 

Sonos, please create a software update that will regulate, or keep consistent the fluctuations in volume for Loud commercials.  This will be a game changer and I feel as though it's gotten worse on streaming applications.  The volume of commercials is so loud you need to sit there and lower the volume, then increase when your program returns.  The FCC will do nothing, and even if they did you would have to file complaints against each commercial.  After purchasing the ARC, sub and  Sonos One’s to create a home theatre system, I will only upgrade to a new system or television that will offer this option, as it has become such a nuisance. Advertisers will continue to push the limits until it has gotten out of control.  

Recently I've been experiencing this problem intermittently. Often i could not find my Sonos Playlist section. Please advise if anyone knows the fix to the problem. Thanks

Hi, I have a Sonos 5 first Gen speaker, which is only compatible with the S1 app. I just bought the Roam and didn't realise that it only works with the S2. I also have a couple of 1s, which are compatible with both. Do I need to upgrade the 5 or is there another fix? Can I switch between Apps for example!? Thanks anyone in advance for any advice!

Unless I’ve missed a trick, the MacOS 11 podcast app allowed me to drag a podcast into my music library for use with Sonos.  In newly updated MacOS 11.3 with an updated podcast app I cannot drag anything anywhere.Any suggestions welcome

Therfore, we tried to install Sonos Application to test it, but we got all app pages blank.My first question is, do I have to connect the app to a Sonos Speaker in order to be able to access "Browse", "Services and voice" tab and other informations?.My second question is that our radio RIM can be integrated to your Sonos Radio service which include about 60000 radio stations from the world?For information, RIM radio is integrated in many streaming system like TuneIn, Shoutcast, MyTuner.Please provide us your support.

HiDoes it cost anything for a DSP to be added to SONOS app?

I recently started having picture tinting issues with my Plex on Roku and decided to try AppleTV and Nvidia Shield Pro devices out. The Roku did a good job with the Atmos audio and converted DTS into a nice surround 5.1 so that I did not miss the DTS support on the Sonos Arc. I did some testing using Plex, Infuse and Kodi/Plex and came up with some odd results. I was trying to get feedback as to how others have solved the audio limitations of Plex with Sonos Arc. See included images. I am running Plex Server on a Synology DS1520+. The streaming devices are connected to a Samsung Q90T TV using eARC and a high-end 8K HDMI cable to the Sonos Arc.

Dear all When I’m starting the Sonos App from my Samsung Galaxy S10, then It never passes the startscreen. I just allways see this screnn, but no changes. I looks like a freeze.Meanwhile my friends can connect to sonos and play music.It also worked some time ago in the past.Currently the App version is the latest 11.2.7 - updated on 30. March 2021) Can you please help.RegardsAlexander  

I realize this topic has been posted multiple times and Sonos has yet to deliver...I was told today on a chat to post this again and hopefully others will jump on board.  My perspective is this is a simple addition.  Sonos please make it happen!

Hi  I am running a small SMAPI, witch runs the Sonos Cloudqueue functions witch works fine with the Sonos Move.  But when executing the command on a Sonos One SL.  Any developers that can help me out?  Any help will be highly apriciated. 

I just got a new laptop, running MacOS 11.2.3 (Big Sur). I downloaded the S1 controller and was prompted to enable it in accessibility, which I did. When I launch the app it says “Searching for your sonos system” and becomes unresponsive and beach-balls. I’ve tried deleting the app and re-installing.Any tips for how I can get this working?(and no I can’t upgrade to S2)

Hi,I have a pair of Play:1’s connected as a Stereo pair.Windows PC, Phone are able to connect to it with the controller app, Mac can’t. Don’t know if important but Spotify on Mac IS able to play music on the system.All devices are on the same wifi.I have a pair of TP-Link Deco M9 Plus mesh operating as an access point, connected to my cable company’s router to the internet.I have disabled VPN on the Mac, made sure Sonos was allowed in mac firewall, disabled antivirus. I recently moved, but all gear (except cable company router) was with me and working in my previous house and everything was working fine there. EDIT: I tried connecting one of the speakers with an ethernet cable (and disabled its wifi) and there’s no change.Any advice?Thanks

Can anyone advise if its possible to add this link to Sonos? 144.76.39.214:8001/stream I tried to add a station on the Windows software but it does not allow it.    My dad loves this station and I’m having a heck of a time trying to add it.   Thanks. 

I may be completely missing the point here...but when I take my Roam out and about the S2 app becomes unusable as a control for the speaker. As soon as I am beyond range of the home WiFi the app simply reports the error that there is no WiFi (correct) and effectively locks all functionality. How does this support the use case of taking Roam to the beach/ park etc?

The latest version upgrade of S2 12.2.4 has started to say that the OS on my Motorola G4+ phone Android 7.0 is no longer supported. It now no longer finds my Sonos Play:1 and Play:3 speakers in the app. The notification directs me to the Sonos website documentation that says that Andriod 7 is supported. I haven’t seen any announcements that Sonos is dropping support for Android 7. Why is this happening?

I have read the community questions, but haven’t found this answer.Our music library works, I can play the music from my iPhone when routed through my husband’s library (he loaded all of my music there, can’t play direct from my phone). What do I need to do to have my music play when he takes his laptop with him?

Can you use the same Sonos email account for both the S1 and S1 "parts" in a s1 s2 split system - or - do you need a different e-mail for the new s2 part?

I have x2 Gen1 play 5’s, a play bar and  x2 gen 1 play 1’s.Since I tried to set up the S2 app I realised that the Gen1 5’s aren’t compatable. Now I can’t link all the speakers back together on the S1 app as they show as not compatible including the boost. Seems I can only access half the system at a time via either App, but not them all like I used to be able to do!I hope this isn’t permanent ?? 

There are several articles etc online about this but most seem out of date. Am I able to have the Sonos control show on my iPhone X Lock Screen? Do I have to somehow turn off airplay to do this? If so, why? Because that is very annoying. If I do, how do I do it?
