Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

I just installed Radio Paradise.... which displays the album cover for each track as it plays (nice). As the tracks changed I then realised that the S2 background is colour coordinated with the predominant album cover colour, where the overall effect is a rather sickly kaleidoscopic display of weird pastel colours (Not nice).Good grief.
Now that S2 has been out for almost a year, are there any updates as to whether dark mode is being worked on? I mostly use my Sonos at night when I'm home, and it's very annoying to have the Sonos app blind me in the dark as I'm trying to listen to relaxing music to sleep. Nearly all my other apps have a dark mode already, and even my small regional bank app has a dark mode. It's become part of the design guidelines for Android and iOS such that the Sonos app sticks out like a sore thumb at night. Please update us or raise the priority if it's not yet being worked on!
I’d like to +1 the feature request that the app support “natural sort ordering” for the Music Library.A natural sort order would allow numbers in track titles, playlist names etc. to be organized the same way (numerically) whether or not the number is written as 1 or 01 (or 001..).The average user would have no reason to expect that the number 11 will come before the number 2 when organizing their songs and playlists, unless they edit 2 to be 02. So the strictly alphabetical sorting that the app does now only works for the users who already use it with their own music collection with 100% consistency, while causing issues for all other users. Natural sorting however, works for everyone (or is benign to some at worst). The integration with streaming apps is great, but I have been blown away by how quickly and easily S2 indexed my music collections including several hundred old iTunes playlists. I’ve rediscovered music in my library because of it! So I will be using the Sonos Music Libra
I cannot use my Sonos S1 controller because the black prompt screen can’t be removed. I have no S2 products, and no interest in upgrading to S2.Nothing works — there is no link I can find to remove the prompt and use my controller the way I always have.
OK, I understand I can get many music services on Sonos for my new Roam. My coach/granddaughter is all fro Spotify. But I see that I can also get music on the Sonos app S2. I think that is correct so for anyone who has done their reserch into the S2 service vs. Spotify, I would appreciate your insights.Thanks.
I just found out that the newest MediaMonkey 5 software can easily stream directly from my Windows 10 PC to Sonos.I’ve been using MediaMonkey software to manage my massive music collection with a lifetime license for 15 years now and just installed the newest version. Version 5 has a “Cast” icon on the lower right that lists all my Sonos and Google devices. All I have to do is pick a Sonos speaker to stream it there. One limitation is that MediaMonkey streams only to one speaker by itself. I still need the Sonos app to regroup my speakers, mute speakers in other rooms, or adjust volume on individual speakers.MediaMonkey provides full music file management functions without Sonos’ pesky limit of approx. 64,000 files. My personal music collection has more than 1 million songs and MediaMonkey has no problem with it. The only accommodation I made was to turn off automatic library scanning when my collection reached north of 500,000. Now I just run a manual scan about once a week.MediaMonkey
The UK’s Planet Radio (ie the Bauer stations in the UK ) have been added as a new music service, currently in Preview mode. The premium streams are listed, but don’t play, and there doesn’t seem to be any way to tell Sonos my account details anyway. Is this going to be fixed soon?
Didn’t see anything on the forums so thought I would offer it up to use this space to provide any feedback on stations on Sonos Radio introduced but also offer up ideas for new starions.
We have 3 Sonos speakers in a holiday let apartment and up until now they have been working fine, however now the app is saying it needs to update as soon as you go on to it (no chance to do anything else). For the update to go ahead it is asking for login details, however we don’t recognise the email address it is asking for so we are assuming a previous guest added their details at some point. Does anyone know if there is any way around this as at the moment the speakers can’t be used? Many thanksLuke
Still no Trueplay support for the 2020 iPad Air 4 and iPad 8.How long do we have to wait? It says Available soon for many months now...
I`ve got the TV connected to a Sonos bar and there are also two Sonos speakers at the back of the room. The Sonos Controller recognized it all as Living Room. The TV appears as a Source in the Sonos Controller. This works okay when I watch TV.I`ve got other rooms set up as well. I`ve created a group called Whole House which includes all rooms except the Living Room. This works okay when I listen to music.Question 1 - Recently, one of the rear Living Room speakers has been lost from “Living Room” and has appeared as a new room called “Den”. So when I watch TV, I need to group Living Room with Den so I can hear the TV through both rear speakers. Do I just need to Pair it with the other rear speaker?Question 2 - When I`m playing music in the Whole House group, I want to hear it in the Living Room as well, so I add the Living Room+Den to the Whole House group. However, this means they don't work when I watch TV, so I then need to remove the Living Room+Den from the Whole House group. Befor
When Spotify goes cd quality later this year will the S1 System and legacy players (of which I have many) be able to stream it? I hope so as streaming cd quality Spotify would obviously not be beyond the capabilities of legacy connects and amps which already stream 16/44 Tidal and Qobuz. Please confirm that streaming Spotify HIFI will be possible with S1.I do feel let down and stranded as a customer when I am constantly worrying if my expensive system that took years to save up for will be the victim of ruthless planned obsolescence by denial of a software tweak required to keep it functional. If Sonos withhold the ability for these players to stream spotify at 16/44 as a lever try to force existing customers to upgrade to new products it would show considerable contempt and disregard for the loyalty their large historic customer base. Rant over, sorry, but why do I feel pessimistic about this?
HI - I am having a problem seeing my “imported playlists” after doing some iTunes maintenance this week. Here’s what I’ve done. Created a new share on my Synology NAS. This is \\192.168.1.2\AppleMusic On a new PC build, I installed iTunes, mapped a network drive the above share as M:\ and told iTunes that’s where my library is. On the new iTunes install, I downloaded all my files (~9300) via iTunes match. They are now in the share. Told Sonos that that the file share is a music library folder Re-indexed the library in the controller “Consolidated” the iTunes library a few times. All songs, albums, and artists are available in the Sonos App. Playlists are not. The playlists are visible in iTunes and work fine. I have tried copying iTunes Library.itl into the share and re-indexing but it didn’t work. I know I’m missing something simple. LMK if you guys have any thoughts! ThanksDave
Hi Sonos, Having lots of sonos devices both older and new generation all over the house, these days it is becoming very difficult to keep s1 and s2 separate and managing the devices separately. And managing music services with restrictions are becoming increasingly annoying nowadays. If sonos could kindly come up with a new app which combines both s1 and s2 in one single app and group the older and newer gen devices in separate zones internally. I understand the 2 generations have technical incompatibility and we have 2 apps to manage that, but keeping them separate in 2 zones under 1 app would be possible if they want to make the decade old sonos fans happy. Accumulated over the time and giving up lot of those incredible devices which works and sounds great for 30% discount is not always easy as we think. I believe many of the old sonos fans would love this idea. Just thought of asking it here..Thanks
Moved house, now have BT Full fibre Halo whereas old hoise was on VodafoneHad Sonos products for last 8 years, now around 10, without any issues. Our new house has full fibre system supplied by BT has full access speeds at the hub circa 150Mb.Yet around the house, from 1m to 10m away from the router the speed through Speedtest barely reaches 90Mbs just a meter away, Now TV (wired) has the spinning logo during viewing. Use a Boost off the router, all other Sonos appear off this port (BT Hub Manager) as thick walls, and ceilings Downstairs: Boost, Sonos One, Two Play3s, (Beam or Arc coming soon) (sold PlayBar & Play 5)Upstairs: Sonos One, two Play 1s BT claim it is the SONOS system that is at fault and is a know problem ? ? ? ? !!!! The Boost Anyone any ideas of pointers or set-up advice I can rebuff them with as I never had this with Vodafone.
To the Sonos Team: Please let me know if „Pause all” button will be restored in the S2 app (iOS)? Is it even possible to restore this button in S2 app?
I’m trying to find a path so Sonos can find my music library (iTunes). If I press My music folder it loads all my deleted music and duplicates that I’ve got rid of. When I go to iTunes and press file location and copy that into Sonos, it doesn’t work. Can anybody help me match the number of songs in iTunes to my Sonos system?
Hi, we require two separate Sonos admin users. One for myself and one for my spouse. We are already using our separate music streaming service. Can we have separate SONOS ADMIN users each for same SONOSsystems in one home?
Just a thought, but thinking it might be a useful feature to be able to go into Settings for a Sonos Room and disable playback of certain sources (streaming service, TV, aux line in). So for example, if you a home theatre room where you never intend to play anything but TV audio (perhaps because you have other Sonos speakers setup in the same physical room), you can disable all the stream services for that room. You would not be able to start a stream from this room or join an existing group. Another use case would be if you have a guest room where you want to allow use of certain streaming sources, but block others and perhaps your local library. Or perhaps you have a kids room where you only want them to use their own streaming account. It also could be useful if you have a Connect/Port with no amp attached, that’s only used as a line in source.I can understand where Sonos would not want to limit a system’s capabilities, but this sort of thing could be helpful in getting a syste
Hard to see control on black icons with black Roam speaker, Any sucections to high lite icons? The Roam sounds great .
I am adding a new Product (the Ikea Symfonisk) to S1 and my current setup of playbar and x2 Play 1s (which will run fine on S1 app), but takes me tot he page that states the sonos app needs updating, even though I have already the updated S1 app -- when I click update it takes me to update to S2, and there is no way to get around it, and add a product to S1 app.
ok my thoughts on this, maybe (probably) not yours but interested in constructive opinions and viewpoints (excuse typo in heading). I’m not sure how many in here now will have ever used the CR200. I’m sure back then it cost a lot to make and that Sonos didn’t sell too many and that phones/tablets seemed the way forward. We now have voice control which is of course amazing, but it’s not good for browsing and discovery. And the app we have now is — well, it’s ok. It doesnt look great, it works and it’s ok. But does anyone else think it doesn’t feel like 15yrs of evolution from the CR200? Android tablets can be bought cheap from China in bulk and I don’t understand why Sonos don’t just buy in an unbranded model, lock it in with the Sonos app and have a known stable hardware platform that they can develop on, and that will appeal to the install market they are courting. A dedicated controller feels premium as a controller in a way your phone doesn’t. I love my Sonos and would never be
Hopefully a not so crazy question: now that the Roam is coming, will we ever be able use it as a calibration device for other Sonos speakers, e.g. home theather setup, etc.?I don't own any Apple devices to use trueplay and I imagine it's even annoying for Sonos to keep up with multiple device / mic profiles as even the latest iPod / iPad iterations are not yet supported. This wouldn't be a problem with Sonos Roam as you are already in control of what goes in them and we could finally have a solution for this whole "no trueplay on Android" topic.
I have a network of two Sonos Ones, and on a daily basis, or at least a few times a week the S2 app doesn't connect. This has been going on as long as I remember. I can still perfectly use the system through my SmartThings hub, but it's obviously limited.I have read in the app review that many others seem to have this problem.I assume this is a bug, as the app itself (and with recent improved functionality) guides through the process of restarting the speakers. This helps most of the time, but it's not good enough in the long run.I assume Sonos are aware? Is this bug going to be fixed, and if so, when?
I can’t see a way to add a station to an alarm. For example, I listen to Folk Alley through Sonos Radio, yet there does not seem to be a path to create an alarm with this channel, as only certain stations appear in the list of available alarm music choices. Am I missing something in the Alarm setup
