Hi,

im confused and hope you can help. I’m trying to work out how to achieve the best possible sound output quality through my sonos system using quboz
 

do I have to play qobuz content through the sonos S2 app to get the highest quality sound playback through my sonos system or can I use the qobuz app and stream via chromecast or airplay? 
 

the other option I have is to chromecast to my Sony tv and then output the sound through the Arc and sound system... 

 

side note but within the sonos app I can’t see what sound quality the playback is playing through qobuz. For all I know I’m playing the CD quality version of an album when there are multiple options . It’s very frustrating !

I’m reading the support article as meaning it’s just available via the S2 App only and just on the newer compatible Sonos products, otherwise the audio plays at 16/44.1

Airplay is 16/44.1 ALAC on Sonos, I believe. Well I’ve not seen anything different concerning Airplay.

I would like to see the audio bit-depth/sample-rate displayed within the Sonos App too. Not that I would likely notice a difference beyond 16/44.1, personally speaking.

People have been asking for real time bitrate display on the Sonos app for years and it’s been consistently ignored. For the purposes of this discussion you basically get CD quality whether you stream via S2 app or native Qobuz app via AirPlay. Even if you’re streaming a hi-res labeled file via airplay it gets downsampled to CD quality. 

 

The only exception is if the hi-res file is 24/48 it will stream as such when using the S2 app. Anything above that gets downsampled to CD.

haha but you don’t know if you are listening at that rate because it doesn’t display at what rate the playback is within the Sonos app!
 

Lots of artists have 2 versions of an album listed and you have no idea which one your listening too from within the sonos app…

 

seriously why would you not just display the rate in the sonos app? 
 

another questions.. I can chromecast to my Sony tv from the app: it does display the bitrate. (This isn’t airplay it’s chromecast) then it plays out of my arc.. is that playing in HD like it says it is?
