Let's talk about Sonos Connect, Connect:AMP, Sonos AMP, and setups using Sonance architectural, or your own speakers and components.

I have 2 different questions regarding the new Amp. 1. A new room I'm adding set up will be Playbar & 2 wired in ceiling speakers (I'd like to add my own wired sub). I know that on the current amp, once I use it for surround on my in-ceiling speakers, the sub output is disabled. Is this the same on the new amp? Any other ideas? 2. Some marketing info Sonos sent me on the amp says. "Power all your entertainment. Amp features inputs for your TV and an additional audio source, so you can enjoy a movie in one room while listening to music in another". - I'm not sure I totally understand this. Does this mean that I could wire 4 separate speakers to the amp and control one set with TV source and another from the second source? Any clarity would be great. Thank you!
sonos bridge does not work any more how to repair it?
Hello, I am hoping to connect a turntable to Sonos. I have a playbar and multiple play 1's through out my townhouse. Although it would be nice to play vinyl in all rooms I would be happy to be able play it on my sound bar only. So 1) if I get a turntable with a built-in preamp can I play it directly through the sound bar. And 2) what additional components would I need to play vinyl in all rooms (on my play 1's.). Thank you very much for your time...Mike
Hi guys, I’m looking at purchasing a Sonos soon but have a question regarding the compatibility with my vinyl player. Essentially I own a Project Primary E turntable and understand I need a phono pre amp and Bluetooth connector for it to work. Would using the ‘Project Phono Box E’ with my Primary E turntable allow me to connect to let’s say a Sonos:One? I’ve seen the new announcement for the new Sonos PreAmp but it’s too pricey at £599.
I have a couple of Play ones, a beam, and a connect. I want to connect my old turntable, an old Pioneer receiver with wired speakers to my Sonos speakers. After connecting my turntable to the receiver, how to I connect my receiver to the connect???
So I purchased an audio technica lp120 and a sonos 5. The sound is extremely distorted when I play a record. In Sonos settings, I have gone into the line-in settings and tried the different source levels. No level has an effect on the distorted sound. On the TT, I have made sure that the switch on back is set to Line In which enables the pre-amp. Any ideas on what else I can try? I'm getting a little nervous as I have seen other posts with the same issue but they never have a solution. I don't think I have the ability to test the TT by itself. I don't have a stereo or powered speakers. thanks
I have a quick question in regards to the Onkyo receivers that now “works with Sonos”. I understand the model receivers that now work with Sonos (if you purchase a Connect), but I’m curious if you can actually use the different zones of the receiver as different Sonos zones (through the sole Connect)? For example if the receiver has its one Sonos Connect plugged into it and has the three zones hard wired as such: main zone is 5.1 living room, zone two is porch, and zone three is patio. Can you independently control each zone through the Sonos App? Or would you have to use the Sonos App to turn on music through the receiver and then go to the Onkyo app to control its zones and inputs (which would completely defeat the purpose of what I’m trying to achieve)? I currently have a fantastic Yamaha receiver but if purchasing just one Connect and the subsequent Onkyo receiver can control the three zones, I may just pull the trigger. Thanks in advance for the help.
Sonos Connect not showing on network after being powered down for two weeks. No green light shows on power up. Factory re-set doesn't work. I am also able to ping the unit from the router, which has been re-booted. I have also hard wired the Connect to my router, but with no success. Anyone have any ideas.
I have had my Sonos system for about 3 years and has worked almost flawlessly up until about 6 months ago. Now I find every once in a while I'll go on my Sonos App and one of the zones will be gone. Today I see my garage zone is not there and the connect-amp was flashing white......I unplugged it, waited a few minutes, plugged it back in and it flashed white then turned to solid white....but still did not show up on the App. Decided to reset the Connect-Amp; unplugged it, waited then plugged back in while I held the play/pause button until it flashed orange / white / orange / white.....I let go of the buttons and waited.....waited some more.....still flashing orange / white / orange / white I decided to unplug it again, waited plugged it back in and its now flashing white..... All other zones are working fine, including my other Connect-Amp for the patio which by the ways is right next to the Connect-amp for the garage. What do I do???
I have two Play:5's. One connects to my turntable via line-in and the other connects to my TV also via line-in. I need to connect a CD/DVD player to play audio CDs. Right now, I need to turn on the TV in order to do that. Is there a better way of doing this? Would a Connect, Connect:Amp or the upcoming Amp do the job?
It looks like the Connect is no longer bit-perfect. Here's my evidence: let's discuss this. First, I constructed a wav file of pink noise with amplitude ramping up from zero to digital max and back to zero. I play this through my Connect and record the SPDIF output from the coax output into my PC. The recording uses a Scarlett 8i6 audio interface set to use the Connect as master clock. I record into a DAW (Sonar) multiple times - all instances are identical. However, this recorded signal is not quite the same as the original wav file - it can be up to -21dB different. See https://www.dropbox.com/s/t8od479xo9hi5el/connect_diff.PNG?dl=1 Note the expanded scale on the difference (third) track. It looks like the difference gets larger when the signal is larger. To confirm this, I import the original and difference files into Matlab and plot the raw data (difference vs original). There is clearly audio compression happening here. I'm trying to figure out the smoothest way of integrating my stereo system into a Sonos eco system and the Connect seems like the obvious solution. I also use a optical output from my TV to feed the system audio, so by including a Connect I'll have two optical sources I have to switch between. To avoid manually having to select a source I have found a optical switch with priority on the inputs, which would make the whole process of changing between my TV and the Connect automatic. The only thing that would prevent this from working is if the Connects optical output is always active, or if it takes a long time from turning of the music until it turns of the optical output. To sum it up: Does the Connects optical output switch off automatically? If yes, how long does that take from when you stop playing music?
Is it true that the Connect:Amp is not compatible with Airplay 2? I bought this device to plug in my Totem Staff speakers but can’t get any music on. I’m using iPhoneX to stream music and Airpplay won’t show the Sonos in the list of available devices.
Having trouble getting audio from turntable onto the other Sonos speakers via Connect. I currently have my turntable hooked up to a Marantz receiver with two bookshelf speakers. Sounds great. I also have an optical cord going OUT from Connect to the optical IN on the receiver. This allows me to hear my streaming music on my Sonos system through the bookshelf. How do I get my turntable audio on to the rest of my sonos speakers? As it stands, I have them connected into the Phono IN on the receiver, so to hear them, I must switch the input from the TV digital (which I use to hear the Sonos system via optical through the receiver and speakers) to Phono. I tried plugging the Turntable RCA directly into the COnnect IN with the hopes that the optical out would allow me to hear it through the system but no dice. Any suggestions?
Is it possible to connect my sonos play 5 with my Xbox One X? If possible in any way, please let me know how to do so.
I need some help. I have a Sonos Connect and until tonight I have always been able to adjust the EQ and volume with my IPhone. Now, the only sound I have comes through (1) Fixed or (2) Pass-Through.. with either of these 2 settings the EQ can’t be used, only through the (3) Variable setting. I select the variable setting and nothing transmits. Any suggestions? I’ve had no issues until tonight and I’m sure it’s operator error.
Hi! I have recently bought a turntable (Rega planar 1), which doesn't have a pre-amp built in. When using an amp (300W), the music sounds overly quiet and squeaky, but just overall cold. Certainly not getting that warm analogue quality. Through out this forum, i've seen posts saying that I should have a pre-amp if my turntable doesn't already have one built in, especially when using a Sonos Connect or Conntect:Amp. Would I still need a pre-amp if I acquire the new Sonos Amp?
Hi there. Can I connect my Beam to the Philips 32PFL7694H/12?? I can't find any info about the specs of the HDMI ports
Will the power cable on the web site for the Sonos Boost also work for the Sonos Bridge???
Hello I've come across a lot of threads where it appears that Modem and Router are being referred to incorrectly or are being used interchangeably. Hopefully, the following information will make clear the differences and help when posing questions as to which device to reference. This information is not definitive so I invite other tech savvy members to offer their contributions. Cheers! Modem: It’s your gateway to the internet. Will there be problems connecting a Connect Amp to powered Klipsch speakers, specifically the Klipsch R15PM?
Hi, I am thinking of purchasing 2x play 5s (to act as a stereo pair) with the sonos subwoofer and hardwire them to my Turntable. I know the typical way to connect this to the TT is line in on one play 5 and then connect (digitally) to the 2nd play 5 but I was looking to stay strictly analog as I want both play 5 speakers to play uncompressed audio. Is it possible to hardwire a pair of play 5s and the subwoofer to a TT? What would need to be added to this set-up to make this happen? Sidenote - if this is possible, once hardwired, would I be able to stream the uncompressed audio coming out of my 2x play 5s w/ sub throughout my household with my other sonos speakers? Really would appreciate the advice, thanks so much! Thanks, Andrew
We are able to inially hear the record on the TRNTBL playing over the Sonos. The problem happens when trying to switch to Pandora and back to TRNTBL. When switching back to TRNTBL with a record playing TRNTBL does not reconnect to Sonos. Sonos shows I’ve selected Line In but continues to play Pandora. I have run a ping test and verified the TRNTBL is staying connected to my WiFi. Has anyone experienced this? Can anyone help me.
Hi, May i know when the Sonos connect and Sonos connect Amp launched? Also, when the AMP will be released? Thanks.
