Let's talk about Sonos Connect, Connect:AMP, Sonos AMP, and setups using Sonance architectural, or your own speakers and components.

if I connect a new source into the new Sonos Amp line-in, will I be able to stream/play that source on any airplay2 speaker? (i.e. will it show up on my iPhone as an airplay 2 source?)
Just a quick question. Couldn't find the answer in the forum, yet. Is it possible to hook up a TV (4k), a turntable and a PS4 pro to the new to be introduced Sonos Amp in February 2019? My own research told me that I can link a turntable via the "white and red" port and a TV via HDMI ARC port. Then I'm left with my PS4. Currently, I have it connected to my TV. So in theory, this must transmit the audio signal via the TV through the HDMI ARC port to the Sonos Amp and then to my bookshelf speakers? Right? Or will this result in delays. Is this setup supported? I appreaciate your input, thanks!
hi I just bought a sony soundbar ht st 5000 and want to connect my sonos connect and speakers with it. How do I do this?
We are a Sonos dealer and install many Sonos products on a weekly basis. Lately the optical cables that come with the Playbars have issues seating into the optical socket to the point that it just falls out. So we've been getting extra optical cables (non-Sonos) to resolve the issue, and they work fine. Any insight? Maybe a bad batch of cables were made.
Ok.....I have the beam connected.....so I decided to buy the Sonos new Amp...…...and surprisingly enough, the handy dandy amp does not include easy instruction to add the amp. Any good suggestions?
Hi All, im new to the sonos world, i have a sonos one in the kitchen and have just bought a connect to try and integrate a record player. I do not have any existing speakers plugged into the record player and have an existing amp. any idea how i connect everything so that i can wirelessly play my vinyl through my sonos speakers
I purchased and am attempting to install a Pro-Ject Record Box E to connect my Pro-Ject Essential III turntable to my Sonos Connect. I have the cables from the turntable going into the “in” ports of the preamp, then the next pair going from the “out” ports of the pre-amp to the “in” ports of the Connect. I also have the “MM” button not pressed (out position). On my phone, I have the Connect setup as line in /AV. Still, no sound! What is the deal! Help me!
Hi, How should one manage multiple components with just 1 HDMI in on the 2018 AMP. I've got 3 sources (HTPC, Xbox, Switch) The way I see it, there are 2 options: 1) Get an HDMI switcher with at least 3 inputs and 2 outputs. Send 1 output to the AMP and 1 to the TV. 2) Get an HDMI switcher with 1 output and send that output to the TV, and then use an HDMI ARC connection from the TV back to the Sonos 2018 AMP. So, what are the pros/cons of these options. Would syncing be better with option 2 since the Sonos and TV are on the same HDMI ARC connection? Any other suggestions? I've always used an AVR in the past and plugged all components into the TV. I do not use the TV apps. Thanks!
What does the volume control (+ or -) do? Mine does not change annything
My sonos bridge white light is no longer on, therefore cannot connect to it with my phone. Rebooted router, no change, unplugged & plugged bridge back in, no change. Tried a factory reset by holding down button while plugging in and white light will blink for about 30 secs, then stay on for maybe 5 secs then goes out. If I push button after white light goes out a orange light will blink for 5 secs then nothing again. Assuming the bridge is toast, & see it is no longer available. So what do I replace it with to run a playbar, 2 play 3's & a sub. Thanks
Hi I have two Sonos play 5 (generation 1) and one sub. Now I have purchased a Samsung q7 series with one connect box. I would like to have TV sound for my speakers. How can I pair TV and sonos?
Can I use the Sonos Conect:Amp with 1 pair of Bose outdoor speakers (Model 101 Series II Music Monitor)? The Connect:Amp shows to be rated 55w @ 8 ohms, while each Bose shows rated 40w @ 6 ohms.
is the above possible to add a means of adding a cd port to a sonos system?
I am looking to pair of Kef q150 with Sonos Connect:Amp. I see that the Connect:Amp give 55W per channel but the q150 require 10-100W. Does that mean that the Connect:Amp will underpower the speakers ? FYI.. the impedance of q150's are 8ohm.
My family room has 4 in-wall speakers, 2 in front and 2 in back. i would like to make them part of a surround sound system for our TV. Can the new Sonos Amp do this? I've read some articles and specs but I'm not an expert so I'm not clear if this is possible.
Hello, I want to connect 4 speakers BOSE 251 to one Sonos Connect:Amp (2014) Is this possible?, Is there any trouble?, I read mixed answers and I want to be sure that I will not have issues. Thanks! Bose 251 Specification: Outdoor speakers RMS rating – 10-200 watts per channel Power consumption – 100 watts Impedance – 4-8 ohms Sonos Connect:Amp Specification: Amplifier Class-D Rated Output 110W RMS (2x55W continuous average power into 8 ohms, THD+N
I plan on buying a connect amp to power a pair of Bose 251 outdoor speakers. Would the connect amp be sufficient for this or would the new amp be a better fit? Also, would the new amp be able to power 4 of the 251 speakers if I decided to add more down the road? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hello Sonos Community, I am doing a big bathroom renovation, and want to put 2 speakers in my "steam shower" and 2 speakers in the main part of the bathroom, for a total of 4 speakers.... all connected as one zone to one amp. I have seen the documentation here that this is possible: https://support.sonos.com/s/article/265?language=en_US#4_speakers But, nothing is ever easy. :) Since it's a steam shower, the speaker is going to get soaked. As such, I'm looking at marine-grade speakers. After talking with Crutchfield, they recommended the "Kicker KM604W" speakers for inside the shower and the Polk Audio RC60i (or 80i) for the main part of the bathroom. The issue, however, is that the Kicker marine speakers are: 4 ohm The Polk speakers are: 8 ohm On the Sonos link above it says: To attach 4 speakers to a single Amp or Connect:Amp, the speaker impedance must be 8 ohms. Anything outside of that may damage the Amp, Connect:Amp, or speakers. Yikes.... now I'm st
My Connect just stopped working - no light comes on when I plug it in. What can I do to fix it?
The big day is fast approaching for the new Sonos Amp official launch. Exciting times to be sure. As with any new product there are bound to be questions. The most obvious IMO will be how do the two amps compare from a feature standpoint. To help address a few of the surface questions the table below may help. Feel free to add your comments as they may be of value to others. Cheers!
I have 6 connect:amps in a rack. Each amp drives 4 clips speakers. The connect:amps were purchased in 2016. Are these amps made to be powered on all the time? I read some none verified 'chatter' that some people experienced failure after leaving their connect:amps on after two years. I'd like to keep mine powered on all the time, since the rack is in the basement and every time I want to listen to music, I must run down to the basement, turn the rack on and then wait for the app to connect to listen to music. At the same time, replacing 6 amps every several years because of 'burnout failure' is not feasible/realistic. Thank you in advance for all insights and advice.
I disagree with the assessment by Sonos that a headphone jack isn't desirable. Especially for the Play:1, because of where it might be used. I use mine on a bedside table and often cannot play it because family is around. It should have a headphone jack, either that or a Bluetooth connection so Bluetooth headphones could connect. Either one of these would make my Sonos speaker 1000x more useful. This all seems like simple common sense to me. It might not be for the larger speakers, but it is for the Play:1. In this regard I am quite disappointed in the Sonos experience. Sure I can use the headphone jack on my phone or ipad, but there are already too many devices and complications in life, and I don't want to get into explaining why going from one to another to another is just added stress and complication. I think you can figure it out.
Currently I have 2 speakers (8 ohm) plugged into one AMP. I have them just as bare wires into the spring loaded clips. I'd like to use banana plugs but it's impossible to fit 2 banana plugs into these clips. Can I wire 2 speakers into one banana plug and then plug that into the AMP? https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=9436#
I've searched for related setup scenarios on this forum - connecting to existing in-ceiling speakers - and I found this article below, but am finally giving in and posting my own setup question. I'm not really an audio guy and can use the help. I'm trying to figure out whether I need a Connect, a Connect:Amp, or the new Amp. My wife wants an easier way to play music in the whole house. We never use the Kenwood receiver anymore (leaving it on generated a lot of heat and wasted electricity, and we'd have to go manually turn it on). We pretty much only use streaming music these days - Pandora mostly, and use an Echo Dot to control it. This is the similar article I found: https://en.community.sonos.com/components-228996/ceiling-speakers-need-suggestions-on-best-set-up-6803568 Our current setup: Old Kenwood receiver Zone A goes to Family room, 2 sets of in-ceiling/wall speakers for front and surround sound. We actually never use it anymore. Zone B goes to this speaker select
I'm not sure when this started, but I just noticed an in-app advertisement in the iOS app under the main menu. I noticed a little red dot on the menu button when I went to toggle my alarm, and once I selected the menu, I saw the Sonos advertisement for $30 off Sonos. Is there a way to opt out of these ads? For what I paid for my extensive setup throughout my home, one would think I wouldn't have to put up with ads. After all, the same ad is already in my email inbox, so why does Sonos feel it has to also put that same ad in the app? At the very least, give the customers an option to opt out.
