What does the volume control (+ or -) do? Mine does not change annything

It only works if you have the volume set to Variable in the settings. Most implementations, such as driving a receiver, will have it set to Fixed.

+2HI Lacasse, it should definitely change the volume as you would expect. If you have the app open at the same time do the volume sliders move as you press the buttons?
