Advanced setups

My sub continues to disconnect. I can add the sub, it connects, and then 5 seconds after I start streaming music it disconnects. This happens continuously. Here’s my setup.I have 8 Sonos amps I have 1 sub The sub is connected to one of the amps none of my Sonos devices are ethernet wired, they are all running on wifiNetwork setupI have 1 router (Netgear PR60X) and 3 wifi access points (WAX630E)Sonos support responseThey keep telling me that the issue is that the sub and amp need to be 15 feet from each other to work implying the devices are speaking directly to each other which I assume is not correct. My hypothesis is that their suggested close proximity is to mitigate the risk of the devices perhaps connecting through different access points. I think this is just a networking configuration issue but Sonos support doesn’t seem to understand the technical details of “why” the devices need to be close to each other so I blocked by their lack of knowledge on the underlying technical issu

My 2017 Samsung TV uses HDMI ARC for my Beam. For my hearing aids I used a Sigma Streamline BT hearing aid transmitter (connected to TV optical out) worked flawlessly together for years--audio from both Beam and Sigma hearing aids.Then the VA replaced my hearing aids with Phonak ones and provided me with a Phonak Connect transmitter that is connected to same TV optical out port. Now when I turn everything on I get the TV sound but 2 sec later Any-net+ disconnects the sound (regardless of which source I select).What is really odd, is that when working with the old Streamline transmiter as before, the optical output wasn’t even selected when in use. Good day to all. I currently have a Sonos Arc connected to 2 Sonos Sub gen 3's and 2 Sonos Five's that are set up in my living room. All speakers/subs face the front of the couch. In addition I have 2 Sonos One SL's set up behind the couch for a full and immersive sound experience.  In the 4+ years I've owned the Arc, Five's, and Sub's I've never had a single issue with them. The SL's on the other hand seem to go out every 4 days, 2 weeks, and on occasion they'll last for months. I have to reboot my router and reset the SL's every time. This is not only for the 2 downstairs but the 3 additional SL's upstairs as well. (For context 1 SL upstairs is paired with a Sonos One with Alexa, the other 2 SL's are paired together on the other side of the beedroom) All devices are connected to a Netgear Nighthawk MR80 WiFi mesh system with 2 satellite's. I can’t use the app if I don’t join the current account linked to the network I’m trying to connect to.Why is my app forcing me to connect to an existing email address on the network when I want to set up a different system in my room so no one can control my music (unless they have the password to my email address of course). For context, my mum has 5 speakers around the house. I’d like my own speaker to act separately to hers. Every time I reset the app, because I’m connected to the same wifi, it forces me to join my mums account. How can I do my own thing, with my own speaker, but on the same network? Any help would be hugely appreciated as currently my speaker has been in a cupboard for 8 months as I’m failing every time I give it shot.

Thinking about generating more sound pressure level, and hopefully, keeping the sound more “room filling”, in a room about 35 feet long, and about 18 feet wide could I benefit from using 3 pairs of Fives?Currently I have two pairs of Fives along with two Sub Gen 3 and an Arc. I will within 6 months or so be moving into the room that I just described and my vision was to have the third pair of Fives deployed in the center of the room, but I am wondering about the usefulness of doing this? So assuming that when I really wanted a very immersive listening session, if I sat in the middle of this room would I now just have issues with timing? Clearly the speakers closest to me would be the third pair of Fives. I could theoretically put them in another room so that I had a separate volume slider, and I could make them slightly more quiet to blend in with the other speakers more, but would this actually work?Sorry for the odd question. My Sonos system used to work with Plex.  I had the Plex software installed on a Synology DS218+ running DSM 6.  I am using Plex for one reason only - to give Sonos access to my entire music collection.  I have some of my music in my Sonos library and the remainder in my PlexMusic library to access on Sonos via Plex.Two weeks ago Synology suggested that I update from DSM 6 To DSM 7. I installed DSM 7.  My current installation is:  Version: 7.1.1-42962 Update 6 After the installation of DSM 7 Sonos stopped working with Plex. I deleted Plex and tried a clean install. I created a Directory on the Synology titled PlexMusic to store my music files.  I put excess files that Sonos can’t see there. I verified that Plex is able to see this library which it has scanned and indexed .  I can view the library in the Plex app running on the Synology. I removed and added Plex back as a Music Source in Sonos. Plex does not work as a Music Source under Sonos.  When I click on Plex I receive the message:

After using an Orbi mesh network along with a Sonos network with a collection of both wired and wireless connections FOR YEARS, as of December 2023, my Sonos system informs me that I’m an idiot. Well, not exactly, but suddenly I can not use the Sonos network - not one component, not one attempt at using the “let’s fix it” prompt has worked after maybe 15+ attempts with unplugging & resetting Sonos components as well as Orbi routers, and even my Verizon modem (which has never been used as a router in my setup).I had updated my Orbi routers to the RBRE960 version from my older RBR50 system back in September 2023 - and not one hint of a problem since then.I am at my wit’s end as to how to correct this - tried to connect to both my primary Orbi network as well as the IoT “sub” network broadcast by Orbi.  Neither will connect.I have 50+ smart devices connected to this Orbi network, both wired and wireless, and cannot figure out why, after months of the new Orbi being online and working

I set my Left Play 1 (wireless) on top of my Sub (wireless).  They are part of my home entertainment system that also includes a Right Play 1 (wireless) and Playbar (ethernet).  The Left Play 1 and Sub sitting together will work for a short period of time and then they go offline / not connected in the app.  In the past, I had alot of separation between the two and they worked fine.  Also, the Right Play 1 and Playbar stay online without issue.   Therefore, I have to assume that because I have the Left Play 1 sitting on top of the Sub, they are too close together and causing them to go offline. I really like the Left Play 1 sitting on the Sub in my new smaller space.  Is there a solution to keep them from interfering with one another?   Or do I need to move them further apart and if so, how much distance is required?  (Note, I’m not able to ethernet either one in my current set up, both would have to stay wireless).Thanks for any advice! 

Hi everybody,I appreciate any input and help!Can I safely connect both Sonance SGS 8.1 Garden series and a pair of VPXT6 speakers to a Sonos Amp? I also have a Sonance SR 2-125. Would it be a better option to connect both Sonance SGS 8.1 Garden series and a pair of Sonance VPXT6 to SR 2-125 Amp and then to a Sonos Amp for streaming ( I already have the Sonos Amp, so I thought I can use it instead of spending money on a Sonos Port for streaming)?

I wanted to set up my Move speakers at a friend’s house so he could hear how they sound before considering an upgrade.  We tried a lot of things and failed.  Various error messages which I cannot put into proper context at this point since we tried so many things.  Mainly, though, neither of us was able to connect the Move speakers to his system through the Add Product option.Here’s my scenario:2 Sonos Move speakers He has S1 app and some speakers only S1 compatible. Do I run any problems if I plan to get Sonos Arc and Sub (gen3) and connect them in Unifi network like this:Arc wired to Unifi Switch Lite 8 and then connect sub wirelessly to Arc. In my understanding this should not create any network problems because sub won’t connect my wifi, it connects directly to Arc? Also no rstp or stp network setting changes are required? Or is it better to connect Arc via wifi to network and then connect sub wirelessly to Arc or connect both via ethernet to network?

I have read some discussions of this, but I am confused. I understand that when you set up Amp with wired speakers as back surround speakers that you cannot access line-in for a turntable. I’m trying to figure out if there is a work around for that. Like setting up 2 different rooms (even though they are in the same room) and somehow toggling between the set-up that I want for movies using my wired back speakers (which is most of the time) and the set-up needed to listen to a turntable.

I plugged an ethernet cable into my Play 5 gen 2 which moved all other Sonos products to one wifi (wired) client group. Now my other clients which require 2.4 e.g. (Roborock vacuum) can’t connect to 2.4ghz at all. My wireless 2.4 network now has zero clients.I went the wired route due to drop-off/cut-outs when streaming Amazon and Spotify, which seems to have resolved that problem. I suspect that Sonos wired now controls the 2.4 band, excluding all other devices as I can’t even connect a laptop or phone to 2.4ghz.How best to resolve this? BTW - the other issue I found out by research is that Sonos Play 1 speakers manufactured from 2016 on do work with the S2 app, those built earlier cause conflicts/cutting out (apparently memory issues). I had converted from S1 to S2 when I replaced my Play 5 gen 1 speakers. The telephone support got me connected to S2 for all speakers (Play 1 gen 1 2014-2018 versions, sub, playbar) but it did not solve my pre-upgrade cut-out problems.

I ave a ARC, 2 era 300, a Sonos Big Subwoofer and Sub Mini, (2) era ones, and a Sonos AMP.  All devices listed are brand new, latest Gen.  I also have a 2023 Samsung Smart TV that has a eARC HDMI port, and a PS5.  Also an Apple TV 4K that can connect wherever via Ethernet or WiFi.  I already had the ARC, and ordered the 2 era 300’s you create Dolby Atmos.  Not even sure anymore if you can use WIFI to use the Era 300 with the ARC to create true Dolby Atmos.  The Sonos Arc only has 1 HDMI port so that kinda screws up things.  Any good recommendations?  Can I use the Sonos Amp as some sort of AV device to help

Hellowhen I play from my phone YouTube music on airplay I cannot play music on the devices with no airplay (play3) despite having matched them with airplay devices from Sonos app. How can I solve this? Thanks for helping 

Hello all. So I am new to the whole ‘soundbar’ game. I recently went to Best Buy to get their advice on what kind of soundbar and receiver to get for what I was trying to do, and they recommended getting a Denon receiver (AVR-S650H) and Sonos Arc soundbar. My goal was to have the soundbar connected to the TV and also to the receiver (because we use the receiver to play the radio through, and when we turn on the radio on the receiver, we’re wanting the radio to play through the soundbar). So, I have successfully connected the Arc soundbar to my TV (which I did via the HDMI Arc cable) to play the TV’s sound through it (and there have been no issues with this). But I am also wanting to connect the soundbar to my Denon AVR-S650H receiver (again, to have the radio come through the soundbar), but I am having difficulty on how to do this. How can I connect the Arc soundbar to the radio receiver without disconnecting it from my TV? Thank you

I just bought a one sl and already had four Play:1,’s.  I want to stream from airplay to all five speakers, I thought I could do that.  So far airplay on my iPhone only recognizes one sl not all of them

hello, everyone! i just bought my very 1st Sonos, Beam (Gen 2) last year. everythings went well except my TV’s remote can’t control the volume, so i always using the app to turn up/down the volume. i’m using Sony Bravia VU3 with RF remote and i’m kind of tired with this problem. can anyone help me here? maybe another device could solve this? oh, and i already tried to setup my remote via app thousands of time and never succeed.

Hi there, I’ve seen a thread that covers off my challenge - but it was started years ago, and regardless, never seems to have been resolved.   Given the adoption of Starlink as an ISP, it might be time to revisit.SITUATION:  I’m using the Starlink Mesh - 2 nodes - router and mesh (yes I’ve seen some challenges using Starlink with SONOS, but I’ve run into no problem- and generally it works ‘great’), but when I try to tie SONOS units together ‘play everywhere’ or attempt to join in units in other parts of the house - being serviced but the mesh node - I'm presented with the “Wireless range extender” error.   Those units connected to the mesh node do not play.  I live in a large house, with plaster and lathe walls, and NO consumer router can provide enough coverage - hence the mesh.  I did previously use the Google Mesh - but with the change in ISP, would prefer just to use the OEM router and mesh system.  QUESTION: Does anyone know if there’s a workaround/solution to this (other than usi

I use a WDMyCloud drive as a music server for my collection of digitised vinyl and also for iTunes. Recently I recopied my iTunes folder to it and I can no longer get Sonos to recognise it.I copied the entire folder including subfolders (iTunes Music, Album Artwork etc.) and library files directly from my MacBook to  /Public/Shared Music on the WD drive, not from iTunes, and set the path in Sonos Preferences to //WDMyCloud/Public/Shared Music/iTunesAfter a few minutes updating I get a window telling me that the files are not available.I guess either the path is wrong/incomplete, or there is a problem with the iTunes folder, but from there on I’m in the dark rather!!What am I doing wrong?? I would be most grateful fo any suggestions .

Hi - I’ve just changed broadband provider, and I can’t connect my Sonos devices to the new network.  I have a Sonos 2 app, but the ‘network’ options are greyed out.  When I try to connect I get messages saying I need to ensure my ‘mobile device is connected to the internet and on the same WiFi as Sonos’.  But I can’t get Sonos on to the new Wifi.  Any ideas please?  Thanks

I have a firewall between my wifi network and my wired network. While they are two separate IP blocks, the firewall permits bidirectional traffic between them (I plan to lock things down once I have everything working).  I have an older Sonos V1 system on the wired network. When I try to locate it using the Sonos V1 app on my mobile device which is on the wifi network it does not discover it. What do I need to do on my firewall to allow the controller app running on the wifi network to discover the Sonos system on the wired network?Thanks
