Have a chat with other Sonos owners. What's going on in the world of music and technology? What's playing?

I've just watched the Apple WWDC and I'm wondering why I should stay with Sonos, now that apple have brought announced its own spa Ian awaness speaker. I think in light of this announcement it would be wise for sonos to implement HomeKit, if it does not want to loose customers like me.
I have been stomped for days pondering about why Amazon has not release Alexa yet in Canada. I really hope it is not because of new privacy legislations that has been brought up. I probably am on the wrong forum about this and find an Amazon dedicated forum. But does anyone know why or if Alexa is launching soon in Canada?
As good a start as any - assuming that it is indeed from the Sonos ex CEO, a cut/paste of his tweet, to kick off proceedings: "Got my HomePod. First impressions... Good packaging, easy setup. Great sound. No clipping at volume. A little heavy on the bass (Jimmy Iovine effect). Handily beats a single Sonos One, at full, acoustically. Two Sonos Ones, in pair, do a superior job. Great start by Apple."

I think that I read somewhere that Sonos One speakers will leave marks on wooden surfaces similar to setting a wet glass on it. I've searched, but cannot find anything about it. Has anyone had that problem? If so, what if the best remedy?
I've been building my Sonos collection over the last few years, and am now interested in getting into the AI (if that's what it's called) game. My number one priority is continuing to use Sonos, but I also have Philips Hue lights and am interested in other "smart home" technologies. My problem is that I'm becoming overwhelmed with what AI to use, and which will work best with Sonos in the future. I currently have an Echo Dot and a Google Mini, and after a small sample size I find myself enjoying the Echo more. However, I am hoping to be able to use Alexa with Sonos to play Apple Music, as it is the primary service I use for listening to music. Will this ever be possible? Would it be possible with Google Home? I see that Apple is coming out with their Homepod, but I have no interest in purchasing another speaker when I already have so much invested in Sonos. Will Apple be releasing a mini version of the Homepod? At the same time, my family all uses iOS devices, so it seems
OK so as an Apple fan I received my marching orders and ordered the Homepod. It arrived on Friday and ever since I've been trying really hard to like it...but I can't. The best description I ran across in reading reviews from Homepod owners is that it sounds hollow with too much bass. I couldn't agree more. We don't all listen to rap Apple. I think the people that like it haven't heard Sonos because if they did they wouldn't buy it. I bought mine without hearing it which is my mistake but feared not being able to get one on launch date like an iPhone X. As it turns our there a still plenty available which speaks volumes. The 2 Play 1's offer for $349 beats the pants off the Homepod. So for the first time in my history with Apple I am dissatisfied with an Apple product and so I'm returning it today to my Apple store. The Homepod my prove the best thing ever for Sonos than the perceived threat it my appear to be. Skip the Homepod and buy Sonos because as a happy Sonos owner I

We have a new Playbase, several Gen 1 Sonos Play:1's, a couple of Play:3's and a couple of Play:5's (Not the newest ones, bought a few years ago). Sonos have announced support for Airplay 2 on the Playbase and Sonos 1s and Play 5s. I'd like to know if we will be able to play music through ALL of our speakers using the Playbase as an entrypoint for Airplay 2, or if it is limited to just the Playbase itself. Also, I'm unclear on whether the Play 5's we have will natively support Airplay 2. Thanks
Having recently received a Google Home Mini and begun playing spotify through it i naturally want to know what the options are to cast to my Sonos gear which i love. In my mind, i love both products, Sonos for the extensiblility, sound quality and application, GA for the seamless Home voice control. If I could simply leverage Sonos through my GA I would be in paradise! What can the owners of current Sonos equipment reasonably expect with regards to control/streaming from Google Home/Mini.
I am deeply entrenched in the Apple ecosystem and am looking to start to move away from it (although I don't plan on eliminating their products, completely). What do folks think about my purchasing two Sonos Ones and using them as a stereo pair versus waiting for the HomePod (especially others with Apple devices)? Does the potential of Airplay 2 on Sonos devices in the future mean that it will ever be compatible with Siri? Is it a bad idea to start to fragment things too much? I wish I could get these to work with my TV or Apple TV via Airplay 2 in the future, but I guess I'll just have to save up for the soundbar and sub, which may take some time, but I'm more interested in listening to good music than I am in watching TV, anyways. What are your thoughts for someone heavily entrenched in the Apple ecosystem, but really wanting to go with Sonos? I currently do not own any Sonos products. Thank you!
http://worldofsonos.com If you are interested...I've started regular posts and have a pretty good one today. This week/end I also plan to post an entry on different ways to handle storage and archiving...and even how to roll your own NAS drive for $170. BTW...if you are interested in who I am. I'm Alan Graham and I am a writer...I've appeared in Macworld, MacAddict, O'Reilly, Wired, etc. I also created the first book on blogs as literature called "Never Threaten To Eat Your Co-Workers." I'd also like some of you to share with me your solutions, your tips, your systems, etc. Thanks! Alan
Don't keep my songs encased in my smartphone, How to set them free with a wireless speaker? I need a portable one.
A question or two/three to Sonos: Today, anyone that wants to use the Google Mini with ANY third party speaker has to also buy the CCA puck from Google. But since Sonos users have been given a way to not need the puck if they have Android devices, not allowing them the same benefit while using Google Home/ Mini is more likely a Google decision, not Sonos? Hopefully, that will be revisited soon by one/both and is part of the announced integration of Google Assistant? My next question: In this "enabling Google Assistant" that Sonos says it will do soon, is this allowing of Google Home/Mini to work with Sonos without a CCA puck all that needs to be done? And if so or otherwise, since "play to Sonos" works automatically, immediately and very well in any place in the world where GPM service is available, will Google Assistant do so just as soon and as well? Because this last bit seems to be a major challenge for Sonos where the Alexa integration is concerned; Alexa is also releas
My wife and I listen to lots of internet digital radio on our Sonos products. We often come across songs on the radio that we wish we could search for on our subscribed music services such as Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Prime etc etc. Has anyone thought of including some "radiotext" data with internet radio stations so that users can identify a song they like, and then add them to their Sonos library if available through a subscribed service? Our other idea was to be able to do the same thing (add to My Sonos Library) when away from home? I was thinking that the service could extend to other things such as adverts on a radio show for (for an example a recent cinema release) taking me directly through to the IMDB trailer etc etc... Any thoughts? #muchsonoslove

I usually don't expect to come to this site to get a political message, but it was unavoidable, right on the home page. Sonos closed their store in support of protests against the elimination of "net neutrality" rules. As a private company Sonos are entitled to believe and support whatever they want. However, I found this paragraph amusing: "Without net neutrality policies like the ones that are currently under threat, the idea of a multi-room home sound system that runs off of WiFi—and streams music from dozens of sources—would not have been feasible when we started building it 15 years ago." Leaving aside the reality that "net neutrality" didn't exist 15 years so, and therefore couldn't have had anything to do with the origination, development and production of Sonos kit, I offer the following: People who claim to support net neutrality never seem to grasp that multi-tier service has been a way of life since the internet turned commercial, and that tiered service is what dro
To make Sonos work? Do we need to buy devices like Google Home mini or Amazon Echo. Or would it be enough to just have an account? And Sonos one replaces these devices??? Wil Google home work whit Sonos One???
Sonos are celebrating their 15th anniversary with a 15% discount on all new products. The promotion begins today and ends on 15th September. The email I received this morning suggests the offer is valid for both online purchases and those made through authorised Sonos retailers.
Anyone know how to find the data from the tuning process of an individual room? I'm in the process of trying to get my acoustic treatment down pat, and any tangible data would be helpful.
