I am looking at the play 5 system as a basis for a Fitness Sound System for a Fitness Studio of about 1800 square feet. My question is if can the system both play music and also allow the instructor to speak through a wireless microphone system at the same time with the music still playing or is that even possible. Do I need a separate Sonos system for the wireless microphone.
Can Aleksa play the same music both thru the Echo Dot and The Sonos Play 1 or do I need to hardwire them together ?
Sonos does not specify this and I can understand why - what matter with play units is how loud they can go without clipping/distorting. But Sonos does not specify this either. It would be interesting to know how the units stack up on clean sound levels delivered when compared to the 55 wpc Connect Amp, driving a typical HiFi speaker of, say 87dBm sensitivity levels. Has anyone done this comparison between the Connect Amp on one hand and play units on the other? My experience is that even the 1 units go louder faster than a Connect Amp powered set up does. I haven't the place or the means where I can do this comparison with both running at 100% volume. Has anyone any useful experience to offer in this area? I have no idea of the sensitivity levels on the play 1 drivers, but my limited experience suggests that the 1 has amps that deliver more than 55 watts rms power. If I am not far wrong, that is impressive power delivery performance from the built in amps.
is there a way to turn microphone on/off on sonos one thru app?? if not it would be a handy feature....
How much does the Sonos One consume while it is not playing music? It have not a power button, so is it always in a "listening mode"? Or does it go in a stand by mode if I turn off the microphone? I would like to know the power consumption in the following scenario: _playing music (but it will depend on the volume) _not playing music and microphone turned off _not playing music and microphone on thanks 🙂
I got a Sonos speaker for Christmas and despite hours of effort I haven’t been able to make it work. I’m not hugely technical but not totally useless, but I think the setup probably requires a level of knowledge that is beyond me or my interest in solving it. The shop I bought it from don’t want it back as technically it’s not faulty. So my question is,what is the best way to recycle an unwanted Sonos speaker?
What Subwoofer should i buy to my newly bought Sonos Connect Amp and Dali Zensor 5:s? I have no clue about Subwoofers so i really need help. I dont even know if i should get an active subwoofer or an passive subwoofer. 🙂
My system keeps skipping to the next song before the end of the current song. It plays a song from a playlist or queue for about 30 seconds and then just skips. I have a Play 1 and Bridge. Please help. I cannot use these products right now.
Hi, I have a sonos system. I use the system to play music from my Spotify account. One of my speakers have been stolen. I notice today when using spotify on my computer, that the music ends with the notification that my account are used elsewhere. Is it true that my account are stored in the stolen PLAY:1, and is it possible to use that account as long as i don't change my password? One more delicate question is if you think there is possible for Sonos or Spotify to trace the location of the stolen speaker? regards /Thomas
Can Sonos introduce an Headphone ?
I currently have two Ones that are paired in stereo mode. If I were to buy a Play:5 and group it with the two Ones, will the Ones maintains stereo mode with each other when the Play:5 is added?
Hi guys, having bought my wife the Sonos One for Christmas, I only just set it up. I want to know how to play music from an iPhone playlist (not Apple Music) to the Sonos using voice commands. I have the Sonos App and Amazon Alexa app on the iPhone and can see all my music on the On my iPhone tab.

My Samsung TV works over a Sonos Soundbar. When my kids watch TV I do not want to need to listen to that brainless teenage stuff, so was thinking of buying a headset that would get ver them the sound and me my evening back. I see that the soundbar has its WiFi identifier but how do I make it happen with the preferably wireless headset ? Thanks
I have a set of old wireless speakers in my dinette and kitchen that are 25 feet and 35 feet respectively from a 55" TV in the family room. I use these to listen to the TV so I don't blow the people in the family room out of their chairs. The existing system is failing and I'm considering replacing it with a couple of Sonos Play 1's. A friend has offered to sell me his Bridge and Connect. My thought is to wire the Connect to the audio out on the TV and push the sound to the Play 1's. Is there any reason this won't work? The second part of the scheme is to wire the Bridge to my router and push the music I have stored on my computer to the Connect and then wire it to my receiver and hardwire speakers. Will that work? My music is stored on my computer in an iTunes library under AIFF protocol. I've read that Sonos and iTunes have some difficulty. Looking for comments as to whether I should proceed or whether my logic is all wet.
Hi I got a Sonos black Play:1 for Christmas, registered it but it had to return it because it was meant to be a white Sonos one with Alexa. I would like to know if it is possible to delete this speaker from my account please. Thank you in advance.
Is there a program to recycle Sonos products? It's irresponsible not to have one given the business of their products. Consider the first Sonos product I have, a Play:3, required a bridge. With a software update the bridge was made irrelevant. It's wasteful and Sonos ought to initiate a program to recycle their products. Maybe the company has a program, but they should help their customers become aware of this if so. I looked on the website and searched the internet and found nothing. If they want to be a sustainable company with devoted customers, I suggest studying Patagonia's initiatives. Apple historically, despite the recent iPhone battery issue, has provided end of life support for their products.
Hi, Out of my four Play:1, Play:5 and connect, a Play:1 unit has started causing issues. Since a bit more than a month, it often disconnects (disappears in the controllers) and reappears later. I'll give more details on the network if needed. Can you please have a look at my diagnostics 8338114? The problematic unit is Grisha.
The headset icon is always present even without headphones and I can not hear the sound on one of the two play 5
I have just bought a sonos 1 with Alexa from a friend, I need to factory reset as it has already been set up on their wi fi. I have tried holding play pause button while plugging mains in into botton, held button for several minutes but do not get flashing amber light, after about 1 minute light turns solid white, con not get amber or green light
Before I installed the BOOST I had no cut out on the Orbi Wifi. Now that BOOST is installed I get cut outs every other song consistently. What can be done?
How do I file a warranty claim?
Check it out, I was sitting at my computer with a glass of wine when my spastic toddler knocked over my wine glass breaking it and sending wine every where. How would I know if my Sonos got wet? There was a little on the top of the speaker, but what if some made it through the grate? Clearly, if a good size amount got in there it wasn't obvious. I inspected it visually and saw 3 or 4 tiny drops on the side, and yes I've even ran my nose over it to see if I could smell any significant wine residue. Nada. Everything seems to be fine, other than Alexa maybe not being as quick to respond. However that could just be my paranoia. Im going to check my warranty and see if I should just send it back, or do you think Im just being a freak and I need to chill?
Hey guys just curious is there any sound difference between the Gen 1 play 5 and the Gen 2 version.
Sonos sucks
