I have a pair of Play:1 speakers in one room and a pair of Play:3 in another. Due to room sizes, furniture, etc, I am considering mixing the pairs, one each Play:1 & Play:3. How do I reassign speakers?
Is Sonos a Speaker company or a music streaming service?
My ZP90 refuses to power up since last week. Due to stereo upgrades over time it’s only function was to stream to a gen 1 play 5 in another room. My question is do I need to replace the ZP90, or is the Play 5 able to function without it? The Play 5 is in a different room to my router.
I would like Sonos to consider making a screen-equipped voice-controlled speaker like the Amazon Echo Show. I have an Echo Show in my kitchen. In this room I find a screen-equipped, voice-controlled speaker more useful than a standard voice-controlled speaker. However, because its not a Sonos device I can't control it from my Sonos apps and and I can't group it with my Sonos speakers. Furtherore the sound quality is not as good as my Sonos speakers. I would hope a screen-equipped Sonos device would support both Alexa and Google Assistant. Would anyone else be interested in something like this?
I have a pair of Sonos One speakers that I have set up in my living room and used Trueplay for calibration. I've now added a third speaker in the same room. I set the third speaker up as a different room on the app, but then paired the two rooms together so that all three are operating together. Here's the question -- how would you go about the Trueplay calibration? Would you just now calibrate the new third speaker? Would you re-calibrate the initial pair? Also -- do you think that this was the best way to connect three speakers for the same room? Any advice on this point is welcome as well.
I have two Play:1 connected to my beam. Can I increase the volume on the speakers without increasing volume on the beam?
Hi all, I have two Sonos Ones and a Sonos Beam, as well as a HomePod and a Libratone Zipp (the last of which should be AirPlay 2 compatible within a couple of months). I love that AP2 allows me to play music to all of these devices in sync. I'm considering adding two Sonos Play:1s to my Beam to create a surround sound setup. What I'm wondering is if I do so will I be able to include this bonded group as an AirPlay 2 target and still have the sound sync with my other AP2 devices, or will the additional processing required for the Beam to send sound to the Play:1s result in some lag? Hopefully somebody else will have a similar setup and be able to shed some light on this. Thanks, Rod
I can't believe I'm here saying this, having had my SONOS system which has evolved over the years for 6yrs now it has worked flawlessly up until 6-months ago. SONOS was a company brand I could trust but update after botched update lead to system instability but really grinds my gears is how they have imposed the SONOS account as a requirement - with threats of disabling MY system if I don't create a password and link the SONOS account. They have removed my ability to change music service settings or (very unlikely now) my ability to add new hardware, blackmailing me into creating and linking a SONOS account to my system. I totally get registering my system for warranty purposes, that's my choice but telling me the next update will break my system if I don't create and link a password to it and then restricting/removing my ability to configure MY Sonos system is a joke. I asked repeatedly for a justification as to why they needed a SONOS account linked to my system with a pas
I have a sonos amp that I would like to add two subs too. Is this possible? If not, can I have one of the subs set up under a different room, paired with another sonos device but just run them simultaneously?
I bought my PLAY:5 GEN 1 in 2009 and have used and loved it ever since. I added a couple of Play:1 a few years later. Anyway, as the PLAY:5 is nearly ten years old, I'm wondering if there is a trade in program and any maintenance that should be done. Again, love Sonos, no problems, just wondering what I should do to stay current. 😃
is songs planning to sell a battery based outdoor speaker?
I recently added Play 1 speakers to the playbar and sub. Initially, everything was wonderful. Not it seems the Play1's are making a cracking or popping noise during TV time? Does anyone know how to resolve this?
Whenever I get a new speaker my test is always Bjork, Hunter... this track is brilliant because its really punchy with lots of layers but the beats flow from left to right at the start of the track. Listen to this on a stereo paired play one and youll be amazed, they fly across the room and you wamt to move your head to follow the beats... Received my beam yestersay and after it was all set up and i did the trueplay etc i gave it a go, there was no feeling of the music going from side to side at all, just felt like it was all coming from the middle. Quite dissapointed in this to be honest after reading reviews suggesting that the playbar has speakers on the sides which does a good job of this. Maybe it will get better once trueplay tunes a bit more? But i doubt it... Any chance a software upgrade could be applied in the future to fix this do you think?
I contacted customer service to see if I could send my Play5 in for repair. I told them that I thought it had stopped working due to water damage and this is the response I got: Thank you for contacting Sonos Customer Care. Unfortunately, we won't be able to accept the PLAY:5 back for repair or replacement once water damage has been done to the unit. I was perfectly willing to pay for a repair or a refurb replacement but no such solution was offered. It's a shame, Sonos is turning away my money and firing me as a customer. If this is the service we can expect, my next wifi speaker will be an Apple HomePod. #disappointed
My iTunes music listening scheme relies on play count being updated and Sonos didn’t support that so I wasn’t a Sonos user. But we got a Playbase as a sound bar for our TV and liked it a lot and enjoyed the streaming functionality. Since Airplay 2 support - which would allow me to stream directly from iTunes like I do the Airplay speakers I had - came out, I decided to pick up a Sonos One to play with. Airplay directly from iTunes, and Sonos streaming capability - best of both worlds, right? I set my shiny new Sonos One up today and…hit an unexpected snag. If I would play music using iTunes to my computer speakers and using Airplay to also stream to the Sonos One at the same time - the play counts in my Smart Playlists would NOT be updated. However, if I started streaming to a second non-Sonos Airplay speaker (so, computer speakers, Sonos One and an additional Airplay speaker), the play counts WILL be updated. So: Airplay to Sonos - no play count update. Airplay to Sonos +
This is just to express how pumped-up I am about the decision to switch from Bose Sound Touch wifi multi-room speakers to Sonos Play 1 and Play 3 (total of 4 speakers) and at the same time I want give credit to Sonos for making such awesome products! Some of you may know that Bose released in Mid May 2018 "security update" for their multi-room range of speakers marketed as Sound Touch - this firmware update literally bricked vast majority of the speakers used in wifi mode essentially disabling the multi-room feature called "Play all". I have in good faith collected logs from my 3 Bose ST speakers 18-times and shared them with Bose engineering team to reproduce, troubleshoot and fix. I was naive. It's been more than 9 weeks since the bad firmware crippled the speakers and yet Bose has not figured out to fix it, they won't allow anyone to roll-back to previous version of fw and advise that people upgrade their wifi routers instead! - just craaaaazy...:( No ETA, no "we are sorry", noth
About a month ago we purchased a pair of Sonos play 1s to use as a stereo pair and a Play 3. They (the system) has been nothing but a PITA. They regularly cut out for no reason that we can determine. Sometimes they will come back on, often the units have to be turned off and back on to reset. Often, in the middle of playing a song (all songs are stored on the computer/iPhone/ipad - not streamed from the internet) suddenly the message will come up that it's not able to access the song it is playing and will quit. Of course, the shop were we bought them raved about how good these speakers are but they are, IMO, nearly useless. I had originally planned to buy wired speakers and a bluetooth adapter for the amp, which we use with no issues at all in another location. I fell for the hype that the WiFi provided better fidelity than bluetooth. That MAY be true in theory but slightly lower fidelity that is RELIABLE is orders of magnitude better than slightly better fidelity that fails
Hi - now that Airplay 2 is out in the wild, presumably it means we can use a Sonos One as a desktop computer speaker, and therefore use it for Skype, iTunes and everything else. Does anyone have experience with this yet, and can report on how they have found it?
do you notice a big difference wlth 2 sonos one speakers instead of 1 and can you hear guitar and other instriments out of one and voice out of other
Hi I have a Sonos Play 3 and would like to add another device, I was thinking of buying a Play 1 (to save money 🙂 BUT DOES IT MAKE SENSE ? Or it’s a stupid thing to do ?
Hi, This morning the music I played on my Play 5:2 stopped. Speaker showed solid orange. Impossible to re-pair. So I reset it. It shows blinking green, speaker shows (with MAC) during the pairing process. However instead of turning white, turns blinking orange, then solid orange. After 10mn, solid orange switches to blinking green so I can try to pair again without resetting. However it would fail again with similar symptoms. Tried resetting router, same behavior. Diagnostics: 105485419 Can you help me? Note that I am on the beta channel...
I've been using my playbar for quite a period, and all of a sudden it is vanished from the controller app and the status light stays white. My play 3 and play 1 work perfectly fine and i've never had any problems with the playbar
Hi! I have a 5.1-setup in my living room (Playbar + Sub + 2 x One) and a Sonos One that I move around the house as needed. When the update hit earlier this month my "solo"-One popped up as a speaker option on my iOS-devices, but the surround-setup in the living room did not. I have read the Airplay 2-guide which was released with the patch, and the guides says that you can use compatible Sonos-speakers (my Ones) in conjunction with speakers (my Playbar and Sub) that are not compatible with Airplay to make the combined unit airplay-compatible. This does not seem to work for me though. I have tried setting up the surround-unit again, but still no luck. Any tips?
How can I reset my Sonos player and start again?
Hi. I wonder if there is a good source of information that explains what functionality will be compatible with older Sonos systems? For example - will I be able to link a Sonos One or a Sonos Beam with older ZP120 and ZP55 players and what functionality will work and what will not. I have searched the web for an answer and was not able to find anything consistent. Will appreciate some help. Apologies if this topic has been discussed before. Many thanks. 😳
