This a mystery! After a lot of trial and error and help from Sonos Tech Support, I got the LG Magic Remote to operate my Sonos Playbar so the TV sound comes through the Playbar and volume can be changed with the remote. Then I disconnected the Playbar from the TV to put the TV on a swivel stand. When I reconnected both devices, the Magic Remote no longer operates the Playbar. I followed exactly the same steps as before .. but no luck! Any suggestions are most welcome ! TV: LG 50UN7300PTC. Purchased April 2020 - new model Sonos Playbar Connected via optical cable. Steps: 1. Connect Playbar to TV. Several ways to access this function, I clicked Set Top Box icon at top of remote next to power button. Followed steps to add PlayBar via optical cable, selected Sonos from list of brands, and TV screen confirmed Playbar was successfully connected. In Sound Out on TV, chose Optical. 2. Disabled two LG Sound Out functions - SIMPLINK and LG Sound Link. (This was the crucial step first time a
Hi, The black Sonos move that is listed on preorder as well as the new white colour are they newer versions of the ‘original’ Move or are they just releasing a white colour? I want to buy the black one which a local retailer has stock of but if the version on back order is potentially different / updated in some way then I would rather wait. it has the model number MOVE1EU1BLK I know they released a FW update which has given all Move’s an extra hour battery life Thanks
I just want to experience Dolby Atmos on Sonos Arc. I have disconnected Arc from TV Downloaded Tidal and subscribed HiFi plan I found “Dolby Atmos” playlist created by Tidal and played few songs I do not see anything on S2 app to indicate that whether it's playing “Atmos” or not. What would be the easiest way to experience Dolby Atmos on Sonos Arc?
I’m thinking of purchasing a Sonos Arc but can’t find any info on whether the Q8 is compatible with Dolby Atmos. Can anyone point me to this info?
Since S1 launch, cannot get two of my four speakers to update. Play 3 is connected via ethernet, fine One Play 1 is updated, another 2 x Play 1 will not update. So far have tried bringing all to same room, connecting them to ethernet, resetting speakers and adding them back into Sonos as new products. Still failing to update, and as such can’t be grouped now with other speakers. Also tried installing S2 app but as soon as it realises 2 speakers need an update it tries again and fails. Error codes usually 30 and 1001 Internet isn’t the problem
Today I received my new Sonos Arc, and I was going crazy because I couldn’t add it to my existing Sonos network. The app would see the new device, but when I pressed the button on the back nothing happened. I began to wonder if the new Arc was just defective, but it is not. I have a Ubiquiti Unifi wifi network with a whole bunch of wireless APs, and in order to optimize wifi performance I have had to enable an option in the Unifi controller that blocks LAN to WLAN broadcast and multicast activity. If you have a lot of devices using mdns, especially Apple devices, then you may have much more wifi bandwidth consumed by broadcast and multicast activity than you realize, and it can be really slow! Anyway, on a hunch I turned off the “Enable Multicast and Broadcast Filtering - Block LAN to WLAN Multicast and Broadcast Data” option in the Wifi Networks section of the Unifi controller, and then I was able to add the new Sonos Arc immediately. After the Arc was added I turned the option back
Hello, I plan to acquire the sonos arc and own a Samsung q950r 2019 TV. This TV isn’t eARC (perhaps in the future), but is “atmos compatible”, with 2.1 hdmi ports. This is not quite clear what will happen (atmos or not atmos?) : if I have a atmos source (4K BD, apple tv, PS5) plugged on one hdmi port and sonos ARC on ARC hdmi if i stream from one of the TV apps (netflix, disney+….) (but there i guess it will be loss atmos = DD+?) Your answer for the passthrough atmos is very important and will lead to a sad or not decision of buying this bar. Thank you very much for you answer,
I have a Sonos Move and researched connectivity issues I had with it a few weeks back. https://en.community.sonos.com/setting-up-sonos-228990/verizon-g3100-router-verizon-e3200-extender-sonos-move-play-5-boost-6838606#post16416428 Anyway it was just brought to my attention that the Sonos Move can be connected to my SonosNet mesh. Is that true?
Hi, I have an old Sonos Connect (gen 1) which has been unused for a couple of years. Some days ago I got the idea to connect to a small amplifier and use it with speakers on the patio (Sonos+Amplifier indoors) and speakers under roof outdoors, wire connected through a window. Everything worked fantastic until yesterday when the Sonos Connect disappeared from the app. When analysing, it seemed as the power cable was loose. I reconnected, but no lights, and the network lights on the back just flickered quickly. I let it over night and today it was a fast flashing red light. Have tried to reset several times, reconnect with network cable etc. Is there anything left to do, or should I give up? Thanks, Per
Hi, I am new to the Sonos world and I have a Beam setup with my TV which works fine. I have a large music collection on my PC and I’m experimeneting with how to play MP3's on my Beam. I've installed the Windows desktop client and I’ve created a playlist but I cannot figure out at all how to add tracks to the playlist. I have gotten music to play but only by right clicking a file and clicking “Play to > Sonos Beam Media Renderer”. This opens another player which sends the music to the other player which sends it to the Beam. Could somebody please talk me through how to add MP3’s stored on my PC into a playlist or if I can play MP3’s without using the rendere? I will confess to still be using Windows 7. It’s on my to do list for the next couple of weeks. Not sure if that has an impact of any of the above. Thanks.
My question relates to an HDMI switch box with hdcp 2.2. At present I am using a Beam with a Samsung Q90R TV plus SKY satellite box and Blu-ray player. Because there is lip sync problem with Samsung TVs ( video ahead of audio ) when routing SKY box and Blu-ray player and other devices’ audio through the TV I have had to feed the TV audio and satellite box/ Blu-ray player to the Beam via a 3 way optical switch. This works fine however I wanted to purchase the new Arc Soundbar for its Dolby Atmos. Therefore I would need to feed my TV audio to the Arc from the Arc HDMI socket using an HDMI cable. I could do this by feeding the SKY and Blu-ray audio using the optical switch into the Arc using the optical to HDMI adapter as I currently do with the Beam. And then I could physically unplug the adapter HDMI jack from the Arc and plug in the HDMI arc cable when I wanted direct audio from the TV. My question is, is there an HDMI hdcp2.2 switch box that I can buy that I could connect the
Hello all, I’ve just upgraded my Playbar to Arc and after my first test, Arc stand-alone without any true play I was well impressed. The Arc has now been installed in the living room with the same 2 play ones and a gen2 Sub that was used with Playbar but after Trueplay has been run and I’m finding the following.. It seems to suck all the bass out of the sound and therefore have to turn the bass up in the EQ and Sub to much higher levels than previous. I have to turn down the volume of the rears to about -6 My previous experience of Trueplay with Playbar was positive and I’ve have considered it more essential for home theatre set ups than a Play 5 for example. This seems more prevalent when listening to music and can’t seem to get settled on a setting that feels right Has anyone else experienced something similar?
I updated to the S1 controller today and now it launches, shows the interface (including my speakers, playlist, queue), and after 3 or so seconds the app crashes. The attached is the error from the Application Log. I of course rebooted, uninstalled and reinstalled, ran sfc to confirm all system files are good, confirmed I’m up to date on windows updates, and I even removed the Sonos settings from %appdata%, and nothing helped. I have very little running on my machine, and the old controller did work. Googling around leads me to believe this error is within the app rather than the system (or .NET subsystem).
Can you share the intended release date and intended fixes in 12.1? Given the software usually drops 1x/month and the latest release was 6/8/20, I’m hoping there will be a new software drop soon that addresses many of the compatibility issues people are seeing with the new Arc (LPCM, AppleTV, eARC pass-through). @Ryan S Here are some of the issues I’m referring to (people with brand new eARC TVs that are having issues due to the single HDMI on the back of the Arc with other streaming devices): https://en.community.sonos.com/ask-a-question-228987/appletv-4k-lg-65nano91ana-sonos-arc-no-atmos-6844329 https://en.community.sonos.com/home-theater-228993/lg-c9-and-sonos-arc-6842322 https://en.community.sonos.com/home-theater-228993/atmos-apple-tv-4k-working-for-netflix-not-for-itunes-movies-6842776 https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251459688?page=1
I just replaced my Sonos Beam with a new Sonos ARC. It is connected to a Samsung UN75MU8000 TV. The TV is a little over 2 years old and the ARC is connected to the HDMI Arc port. With my Beam, I could use Alexa to turn on the TV. With the new ARC, the TV won’t turn on with Alexa. I have gone through 2 levels of tech support at Sonos without any success in figuring out why it doesn’t work. Anyone else have the same problem? Anyone find a solution? Thanks. Ken
I’m being told that I need to upgrade my app to Sonos 2 but can’t get past the Terms of Use page?
New to Sonos. Currently have a Samsung 65 J6300 Series and considering upgrading to Samsung 65Q80T to pair up with my new Arc and Sub, which I must say< I am enjoying tremendously. My question is should I choose to upgrade it appears I should be able to get Atmos as the new Samsung indicates it has eARC. Is anyone currently using this set up and is it working as anticipated?
I am moving house soon and was planning on buying Sonos Beam to go with existing two Play:1s and a sub for surround sound. Now my head has been turned by the Sonos Arc, instead of the Beam. But I am a little concerned as to whether it will be compatible with my TV. It's a Samsung UE65NU7300K. I've attempted to source the answer online but have only succeeded in confusing myself, but have the inkling it is not going to be. Does anyone have a definitive answer? And if it is not compatible, are there ways around it, ie adaptors etc?
I have acquired a Sonos Arc, my Samsung TV doesn’t do Atmos even over DD but my ATV does. Im happy to use this as the only source of input for the Atmos as it has all the apps etc, before I invest in an (expensive, but cheaper than a new TV!) HDMI audio extractor and EDID emulator I wondered if anyone has tried this route and got it working to split out the sound from ATV HDMI output, so effectively the video goes to TV off one split channel and the audio to Sonos Arc?
Can I receive Times Radio ?
Does anyone know if there is a way to essentially add a paging function to an existing system, perhaps via a script? My client owns a business and uses several SONOS speakers tied together as multiple zones playing the same content throughout he store. He wants to be able to play background music (ie: Pandora) but add the functionality of something like pushing a mic button and announcing over the “PA”, then seamlessly returning to the original source. It is possible to add a PORT for the source but that would require one select the alternate “line-in’ source then reselect the original but that's’s less than ideal. A custom scrip that performs these functions would work as the base software lacks (AFAIK) the functionality to do anything but manual switching. Thanks!
We have a Sonos Move that we both use on WiFi at home and Bluetooth when we take it out of the house. We are 4 in our family and have many different devices (iPhones and iPads) that we like to use with the Move. This means that when we switch the Move to Bluetooth it will automatically connect to one of the paired devices within reach. The problem is that you need to unpair the paired device before you can pair another device. And sometimes it’s a drag to locate the currently paired device and either switch off its Bluetooth or erase the Move from its Bluetooth list! Does anyone know if you can i.e. unpair all Bluetooth devices directly on the Move so we don’t need to waste our time locating the paired device? I have searched for this but haven’t found it. Or is there another way to solve this?
Hi Just asked this in my other thread but think its best as a different topic. I want to get the ARC but I have concerns about playing discs with DTS on my oppo203 which is connected to my LG CX. I know DTS is lacking in both the LG CX and Sonos ARC, not a huge issue as I don't own many discs, but I still rent discs occasionally and some will be DTS. Would I get no sound at all or would It output in stereo? Just need to be sure on this as don't want to go buying an £800 soundbar to find i get no sound at all on DTS discs. I have everything set as bitstream/passthrough. Im not to fussed about transcoding DTS to DD on my player, if it can do that great, but if I leave it on bitstream I would just like to know if I will just get stereo. The main thing is I want to be sure I will get some form of sound from DTS discs. Thank you
Not a huge issue, but I notice that album art display on the “My Sonos” part of the Sonos app (S2) is inconsistent. For example, under Albums, some albums show with no album art, but when you tap the album to display the tracks, the album art shows along with the track list. Even more odd, in the Songs list on My Sonos, album art shows on some songs, but not others, but from the SAME album. Further, the songs that are missing album art on the Songs list, ALL show up with album art in a Playlist. And ALL songs/albums with missing art on “My Sonos”, display the album art correctly in the “now playing” screen when it is actually playing. So the problem seems to be primarily with the main screen on “My Sonos” (where you see the lists of recently played, stations, albums, etc.). This behavior seems wildly inconsistent. Is there anything I can do about this? Am I missing a setting somewhere?
The option to add 2 Sonos Moves with the Arc as surrounds does not exist. Will that be an option in the future?
