love the Sonos speaker range but interested in getting a speaker for the garden is this something Sonos is planning or is there a known compatible speaker we can link to the Sonos group
Is there any way to revert back to the last app before the recent update? This latest update is just plain stupid.
I find no positives to the 8.2 Sonos upgrade that requires more steps to do what I used to do. However the worst change is that the only way My Stations is now displayed in Pandora is with most recently played at the top. Seriously? After years of alpha order now it's not even an option. Many Sonos users don't just listen to the same handful of tracks over and over. Others who want sanity restored please pile on!
Hello, today I read the specifications of the brand new Playbase. What have I waited for a new gen2 Playbar, supporting DTS, DD+, maybe having HDMI or (now I am getting really crazy) supporting Dolby Atmos. There are even soundbars providing Dolby Atmos sound! Really, you can search for yourself, these things are possible in 2017... And now the brand new Sonos Playbase is out... The only difference between the Playbar (based on the first test and specifications I read): It's flat and, oh yes, it will support Alexa. Sonos, did you even listen to your customers? To the complaints about your old product, the Playbar? Did you recognize that the home theater world is moving into a future where you have 4k, HDR movies, losless audio formats, dolby atmos? We (your beloved customers) should pay $700+ for a piece of hardware that supports only stereo if you use e.g. Netflix (Netflix uses DD+, the same for Maxdome in Germany). Not to mention that you could end up with no sound at all
Good afternoon folks. I've recently started into the Sonos world and have (5) Play:1s in the house. All are using wifi at this point, with the home network being controlled by a Cisco 2504 controller and Cisco 3502 APs. SSID that the players are connecting to are offered on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz on (2) APs, on different channels. All devices connect and work, but it seems some/most of them drop off the network at times, as I can see them disappear from the controller list of devices, and I see the resulting DHCP request in the logs on the backend. I'm in the middle of a field (literally), so neighbour interference should not be a factor. There are some distant competing APs, but nothing with a strong signal. Looking for some direction here. Diagnostic # is 6973899. Thank you in advance.
I have all of my music on my IPad. I have several Sonos devices and recently purchased the new “One.” When I ask Alexa to play music, she pulls it from Amazon. I would like it if she could tap into my IPad. I enjoy listening to playlists that I have created. Please make is so Siri and Alexa can talk to each other!
I'd like to see Sonos do what Spotify does where you can blend the end of one song into the next, so that there is no pause between the start of two songs. Would really help the flow in my classes.
Recient Updates are more difficult to work with.
I'd like it if playbar supported more programmable functions via IR remote. Many of us have universal remotes with unused/assignable buttons. Functions like: night mode, voice enhance, and music playback controls could all be assigned remote commands. The volume LED could be used to give some feedback for these states without having the sonos app open - E.g. one blink for on, two for off, etc... I know that simplicity is a hallmark of the Sonos system, but these could be added as optional 'power user' features.
I’ve paired my soundbar with the tv and can use the remote provided by Verizon to turn on tv which is connected to the sound bar but when I try to use the volume controls on the remote it says unavailable so I’m stuck controlling tv volume through the soundbar with my phone app. Is there a fix?
I have a Sonos Play:1 that I use with Alexa on my Amazon Dot. But is it possible to play content from my MacBook on the Sonos? I understand that the Play:1 is wifi only, and not bluetooth. So if my MacBook is connected to my internet, can I play things like radio podcasts from my MacBook on my Play:1?
Hi guys, I already own a Play 3 and I'm really happy with it. Now I want to put a nice Audio system into my garage. It's quite big, 30x30 meters. I'm really not sure what to buy. The only thing I'm sure about is the Subwoofer. Is it recommendable to only use the same models in one room? Or can I for example put one Play5 and two Play1? I was planning to get 4 Play1's (one for each corner) but I'm not sure if they will be strong enough for the big room. It's a garage but also partly an entertainment room, so there will be a lot of music. I do not use the boxes for watching movies or something like that. So I don't need surround sound, just music in the whole room. Are there any recommendations on room sizes and what box to get? I find it really hard to decide whether to put two Play1's or one Play3... I guess I will put a CAT5 cable to one box and connect the other ones via Wi-Fi. Or is it recommendable to control all of them via cable if possible? Thanks in advance
It has been several months now since the introduction of Alexa control and Sonos One, and the Sonos community has repeatedly asked for a few things that have landed on deaf ears. I am not impressed at Sonos' reaction (or lack thereof). Here are my two biggest examples: 1) Stereo pairing between Play 1 and Sonos One. C'mon guy, this is a software tweak. You say these speakers are different, but to the untrained ear they sound identical. Slight differences can be handled by automated equalizer tweaks (as if we would notice anyway). 2) I want a control app, not a flashlight app. When you changed from a black to a white background, those of us who use it in low light situations are still having eye problems. At the very least, this should be a settings option for the app.
Every day I walk past my Bose sound dock and wish there was A SONOS plugin for it!
Hi, I have a Sonos One and Playbase. I added the Playbase before had the right digital optical cable connection for my 2010 TV. I went ahead and set up for wireless streaming of music to Playbase and the Sonos One. That works great. Now I have the tv connected how and where do I go back to go through the set up for adding TV sound to my Sonos system.
This is for the Google searchers out there. I don't expect this thread to be very relevant in the Sonos Community. I am going to create a guide to essentially allow you to port-forward your Sonos through your Router's firewall and control it whenever you are by visiting a domain/IP through your browser. :) I'll make this as short as possible. Firstly, download node.js (Google search, can't put links in posts) as that provides server-side Javascript that we can use to interact with Sonos away from home. Secondly, download Jishi's HTTP API bridge for Sonos (Google search), and place it into a folder somewhere. In that folder, create a .bat file with the line "npm install --production" and execute it to download the dependencies. Once the dependencies are downloaded, edit the .bat file and replace the line with "npm start" to start the server. When launching the server, make sure your Sonos system is visible to your PC. Check this by going into the Sonos app. Now, to se
http://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2017/3/7/14828738/sonos-playbase-tv-speaker-soundbar-announced "But home theater enthusiasts might be disappointed with some of the technical details. For one, the Playbase doesn’t support DTS multichannel audio. Neither does the Playbar. Here’s what a company spokesperson had to say about that decision (emphasis ours): For home entertainment, DTS content is only found on physical media such as DVD, Blu-ray and Laserdisc – no video streaming services such as Netflix or Hulu support DTS. Sonos is focused on modern listeners who predominantly stream and because most physical discs encode DTS at bitrates substantially similar to Dolby Digital, we have decided to not support DTS on PLAYBASE as we don’t believe it offers a better listening experience for the majority of owners." I really love my SONOS system. The sound is indeed great, but I cannot understand how it comes that SONOS isn’t paying any attention to all the users that have been cl
All, I am doing up my whole house and need to lower the ceiling 5cm to create a service space for cat6/electric etc. I want to have Sonos in the bathroom, should I wire in a Play 3 (plus outside the bathroom, speaker inside) or have ceiling speakers and a connect:amp? I love the sound of the Play3 so wondering if 50mm deep ceiling speakers can compete and also wondering is there is any restriction/downside on having the Play3 in the bathroom? Thanks in advance.
The whole My Sonos feature is confusing. The playlists are confusing, and huge graphics which means hardly any playlists can be shown. Was SO hoping the Mac app would get an update, but no such luck. Wait for more reviews before upgrading..... or am I missing something?
Hi there, I bought a new playbase today and really like it and am a long term sonos user and fan. It all works fine but I cannot get my remote to work. I read some things on here and also followed the directions. When I press the + sign on the remote the playbase and app even acknowledge it but no joy when exitting. I cannot change the volume via my TV remote. Any help is appreciated as not heard back from Sonos themselves.
We have a stereo pairing of Sonos Ones in our kitchen, which is an open space connected to our living room where we recently placed a sound bar. We would like to now reconfigure those Ones to be the surround sound speakers paired to the sound bar. What is the easiest way to reconfigure these to work in that capacity? Thank you.
I've been a loyal customer so long that I'm still using the 100 controllers (over 10 years). Sonos has rolled out a whole lot of very impressive products during that time. That said, the one glaring omission are outdoor speakers (with the built in amplifier to tie into your Sonos network). It would seem to be a very easy solution, and I'm still baffled that there have been no products launched for those of us who like to have music outside! John
I have had my first Sonos speakers for a week now...I find the App, controller absolute rubbish. For gods sake there must be a better way. Do something about it...Would have to be the most frustrating piece of rubbish I have used. I’m one step away from demanding my money back from JB HiFi.
For the last few days (using the Android app on phone, table and Windows app) same problem - searching under Podcasts & Shows for BBC Radio programmes such as "archers" has stopped working and finds nothing. Usually works fine (though the Android app occasionally didn't see the latest episodes unless the Android cache was cleared). Given live streaming is working, and I've ried for 2 Android and 1 Windows app to the same effect I guess the problem isn't on my side?
I just received my turntable. It’s quite beautiful. Minimal and simple design. However, I am experiencing many challenges just connecting to unit to my Wi-Fi. I’m using the TRNTBL app and cannot connect the unit to my house Wi-Fi. Any suggestions anybody? Thank you for your help! Michael
