Hi folks, I’ve been reading a bit and i’m seeing mixed messages. Here’s my situation: I have a current hard-wried 4.1 system in my living room. My home is an open floor plan with the living room, kitchen, eat-in and formal dining all “open” on the main floor. I want to add some sonos 1’s around these auxiliary areas to have music spread across the space. I first tried a Port to my existing AVR, but had sync issues (grossss)…. So now I’m wondering how to solve for my TV/Living area… options I’m considering:2x AMPs with my existing bookshelf speakers & in-ceiling speakers/sub to run a 4.1 setup in the living room If possible, could I replace my existing bookshelves with 5’s and use 1 AMP to power the in-ceilings for a 4.1 setup… (not sure if this would work.) Some other idea? I don’t like the idea of wasting/not utilizing my built in ceiling speakers… To cut this off at the pass, I can’t / wife won’t do any form of sound bar, so that’s out of the question here. Open to ideas.
I noticed that playing Atmos content from Netflix , using native HDMI cable provided by Sonos , connected on eArc - stops audio while movie continues playing . Started noticing today as I am watching Atmos content continuously for about 2 hour ish. I am using Ethernet connected and do not have any other sonos product . Is this a software bug or some Audio signal getting lost after sometime , works after restarting the unit . Any thoughts from community ?
I am trying to hook up a Connect to Yamaha HTR-3064 home theatre receiver so I can play TV sound over the wired surround sound speakers and Sonos Play1s in other rooms - I understand from other posts this is possible, but I have been unable to make it work despite a variety of attempts with various connections. Current connections are: 1. Cable box to HDMI3 port on receiver; 2. TV to HDMI1 port on receiver; 3. Analog out from receiver via RCA cables to Analog in on Connect. It would be really great if I could go both ways (i.e. streaming through Sonos to play music on wired speakers as well as Play1s, plus TV sound on Play1s as well as wired speakers. Can anyone educate me on how to make this happen?
It suddenly stopped working just couple of days ago. Isn’t the latest version compatible?
Hi all,I have just downloaded Sonos S2 Controller for Windows 10 and I cannot find the option how to minimize the controller into the system tray, only to the taskbar. I tried to fix it through the settings, but I could not find any option for that.Could you please tell me is there any option to minimize the Controller into the system tray?Thank you and best regards.
I have sonos play 1s and and arc plus a sub and the sound is very distorted. im very disappointed as I’ve spent lots on more speak from Sonos I need to Understand what is going wrong with the sound from streamed music on Spotify before I take all the system out and change to another system. I strive for clarity on vocals and bass coming through the speakers this is not happening with Sonos.
Hi there,I'm aware this issue has been kicking around for a long time but found no case-specific to Philips TV'sWhen in 5.1 modes the audio is slightly behind the video.I'm using an Amazon Firestick 4K, and when I put it stereo it's perfect, but without 5.1 there is a slight delay that really bugs me!The setup is:Beam, Sub, 2 x Play:1 Phillips Ambilight 55PUS7394/12.I set the Firestick to 'Always Dolby Digital' and the TV to 'multichannel.'I've attempted all the other configurations 'multichannel bypass' on the TV etc., but they have the same issue, often worse though. Same issue with Netflix, amazon prime, iPlayer and the rest. So frustrating! A lot of cash to put down for something that doesn't work!Anyone else had a he same issue?Chris
Hi all, looking for a second- and third- opinion if I might trouble you all. I have Sonos Amps in the comms cabinet, and Sonance ceiling speakers in the bedrooms. Sadly, these are connected via CAT6 cable (4 cores per channel used - pics below), and not proper speaker cable because we messed up at the planning stage and didn't realise until it was too late. It works absolutely fine with CAT6 cable, but an electrician who came over recently (to help me address cooling of my comms cabinet) said it was really bad and a fire hazard. We should apparently never run the volume over 20%, or the wire will get too hot and melt the thin shielding on the CAT6 cable, creating halogen gas, and burning the house down -- obviously just a worst case scenario, but... I am sure he is right, but he is strongly suggesting we rip the house down and lay proper speaker cable. This is no small task. I want a second opinion on really just how big a deal this is. I know CAT6 cable isn’t optimal for many reason
Sonos speakers in the living room started to pause music then start up again after a few seconds about three weeks ago! I also have speakers in the kitchen and dinning room but they work fine. Diagnostic #163414073.
Hi everyone,I know this subject has been discussed many times but before to buy a Sonos Port, I’d like to have confirmation of my setup : Playbar : connected with optical cable to my TV 2x Play:1 are used/synced for Surround 2x Other Play:1 in other roomsIn the end, I would like to use my Sonos Speakers System to listen music from my Audio-Technica AT-LP60XBT turntable (Mandatory : using of Multi-room). I understood that the Sonos AMP and Sonos Port can do the job. Sonos AMP if I’m using 3rd parties speakers and Port if not. Is it correct ? According to you I just need a Sonos Port and connect the RCA cable between my turntable and it. Thanks in advance.
Hello guys,I have a Play:1 speaker and i would like to hook it up with an turntable. Figured out i will search for second hand connect and found an offer for used ZP90 for few bucks. Will it work with my Play:1?
Hi,im going to use ifttt for controlling Sonos for years and its so pretty cool.I have an another requirement: i need control SmartHome, when Sonos plays in specific room. For example: need Sonos learn to call rest api (get or ifttt) when i will start listening music in a kitchen.or alternative issue: if i will be able to test every minute sonos over rest api: “hey dude, are you playing?”. Im able to test via volume, and its not the same. Thanks for a clue...
Hello to all.I’m a happy Sonos user, so far only with three Play:1s and one Sonos one SL.My current system is built as follows: two Play:1s coupled in stereo in the living room and the remaining two speakers in other rooms. It’s been awhile since I would like to get an upgrade for better listening, but I have two “needs”: better music quality in my living room which is quite big (about 40 square meters) and better sound from my TV set.new Arc is far too expensive at the moment Beam would be an option but, question: is it possible two couple it only with my pre-existing stereo pair made by two Play:1 and have the whole system connected to tv by an HDMI-arc connection? What do you think is the effect of this latter option for both general music listening in a large living room and also for use with TV? My other option would be a Sonos Five. This would be perfect for music but only works with tv through a normal jack, as if it was a headphone, sonot the best most probably.Do you guys have
Hi Sonos,I’m having issues connecting to a previous set up that’s been boxed for around 16 months.I have a Sony Bravia 55inch 2015. A play bar and 2x play1’s first gen working as the surrounds. I moved house last year and the new home needed extensive renovations so it was best to keep the sonos kit all boxed until the house renovations were complete. Today was the big day as most of the house is now complete, tv has gone on the wall, play1’s mounted on the wall behind, sound bar has been installed under the tv again on the wall. I powered up the kit expecting the only thing needing to adjust was Wi-Fi passwords to new network, maybe the odd update of app software and kit firmware then that would be it. That was wishful thinking to say the least. When I go into the new Sonos 2 app the sound bar plays music from Spotify, soundcloud etc, but the play1’s have nothing coming out. That’s my first issue!Second problem, when I go into my TV settings to stop using the build I speakers and to
I recently picked up a Beam, a One SL and a One and have paired the last two devices as surrounds with the Beam.My Beam is connected to my 2019 Sony TV via HDMI ARC.When playing Netflix content on the Sony TV itself, all content with a 5.1 symbol plays in 5.1.But when using my 2019 SHIELD, only some content plays in 5.1. Some movies work but others don’t. Content that played fine in 5.1 on the Sony TV itself only plays in stereo when using the SHIELD.I have reset all devices multiple times to no avail. The Sonos app shows Dolby Digital 5.1.The problem only seems to be affecting Netflix, as Prime Video works just fine.Any help?
I have a pair of One SL, the arc and the sub (gen3) all connected and working together. My question is if I replace the pair One SL with the in ceiling speakers with it be compatible and plays well with the other devices? Also would the amp be necessary at this point? thank you
Hi, I use the Sonos app to play music cds stored on my iMac in iTunes. I recently had to re-load MacIOS on my computer, and while I figured out how to link my iTunes library to Sonos, I did something incorrectly. I cannot no longer obtain infomation on the Sonos playlists about upcoming or previous tracks. I can get info about song currently played but not about others on playlist. How can I remedy this? William
I have a Beam set up with two Play:1’s as surrounds. The volume seems to be low, and when I attempt to increase it, it keeps jumping back to the same low volume.I’ve tried a factory reset. I’ve tried altering volume via the app, TV remote and on the physical volume controls on the Beam itself. I’ve tried it through Digital Optical and ARC connections. All with the same outcome. When looking at the app, the volume keeps defaulting to a point about 1/5th of the way up the volume bar. I’ve checked and the Volume Limit setting is turned off.Any ideas?
I have had a Sonos system for years and recently purchased the Move. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with it. My wife gave it to me for my birthday. I tried using is yesterday for Memorial Day outside. I had used it with a Pandora station and it worked find. However, when I tried to use it with a Sonos station, it worked for perhaps two minutes and then I got no reception at all. Trying to start it up again was almost impossible. I have a Sonos bride and boost installed in my system. I was ready to throw it out I was so frustrated. I loved the station but could not play it. My son had suggested connecting it to blue tooth, but that did not happen. What are your thoughts? I have always been most happy with my system but not so much with the Move. Help Joe
Cheers, Eventually answers to my questions could be found in Sonos Support and FAQ. I could not be assure of the right answer and the situation has some minor particularities. I was not able to find a recent topic that includes this doubts. Since it is a considerable investment I post here my questions hoping they can be answered. I did a diagram to facilitate the description. My goal would be to be able to listen to the Turntable and/or CD player through Sonos System (any room) and, possibly, also be capable to use the external Speakers, connected to a Receiver at this moment, as a pair of front speakers in the “home theater” set-up. This are the devices:a Sonos set-up to TV, Movies, video games as well as Music streaming in the living-room Beam 2 One (2Gen) distancing 4-5 meters opposite to the TV wall on each side 2 One (2Gen) on two different divisions A Stereo Receiver (Pioneer) https://intl.pioneer-audiovisual.com/products/2ch_components/sx-10ae/specification.php , which has 4
I have a projector that doesn’t have any audio output, which I am planning to address with an HDMI audio extractor. So far, so good. Now, there is a second problem: the screen is (obviously) on the opposite side of the room from the projector, which makes cable routing a challenge, and the needed length could easily exceed the common 5m toslink cable limit. However, I am also planning to use 2 “dumb” speakers as surrounds via an Amp. The AMP itself has a toslink input, and because it’s naturally positioned near the rear of the room where the surrounds are, it’s also conveniently close to the projector/HDMI source. So my question is: can I route in toslink via the rear Amp, but still have the bar act as the front speakers? It seems like overall this setup should work, but the Amp will need to somehow be told to swap virtual speaker positions with the bar.
Just setup a turntable with my Sonos Amp (which Ive had for over a year now). Running latest S2 FW and App on my iphone and iPad. Turntable is a Fluance RT82 into ARTDJPREII into the Sonos Amp → B&W Floorstanders… I have autoplay for line-in turned on and set to the room the amp is in (Lounge). The Autoplay is working fine. As soon as the needle drops, it cuts to the line in. My issue is when the record stops, and I turn it off, line-in retains control. I understand it won’t go back to what it was doing before from other threads but If I queue up some music on Apple Music at that point and play on the Amp, it will build a queue and play, but the moment I exit the app and come back in, line-in takes over again, stopping the music that was playing, despite the turntable being off and no LP playing. Its very annoying. It only seems to happen with the IOS apps (and Lyd the Apple Watch App). If I use the Mac app, line-in doesn’t take over after exiting and restarting that app. I l
I have a Playbar with Connect:Amp tethered with Cat6 for 3rd party surrounds. Will this setup still work if I upgrade the soundbar to the Arc?
Current situation: 2 x Play 5 first gen (S1) of which one is directly network cabled to my router and a Sonos Beam (S2?) connected to my TV. Can play Spotify through both the Play 5s and the Beam.Purchased an “old” Connect which I´d wish to connect to my Arcam amplifier such that I can use the now more or less idle Hifi system: (Arcam, Naim CD player, DynAudio speakers), which is a pity. How would I best proceed? Network cabling the Connect to my router (and to my amplifier), leaving the one Play 5 network cabled to my router as well? Or better to only link the Connect directly (Network cable) to the router? There are probably more options just want to create the most stable one. Currently all equipment is in the living room but I might move one Play 5 to the kitchen providing I do not need a Sonos Boost or extender if I can help it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
It is really frustrating that there is no sorting facility for search results. I would like to be able to search for an artist and see their catalogue of music and then sort by release date. You may hear that a certain artist had released a new album but you don’t know the name. Being able to sort the search results by release date would help find that album straight away without needing to search it up on the internet first. I know that is a minor point but would make the Sonos experience so much more seamless and enjoyable.
