Sonos Beam and Sky Remote
See Title - I have no idea what other way to let them know.
I picked up a Sonos One today after learning of the Airplay 2 support. Everything is working great with older speakers. I'm trying to use Siri on my phone to launch music. It is setup in the Kitchen. However, after adding the new Sonos One to Homekit, and requesting music in the "kitchen" or "everywhere", Siri responds "Sorry, I couldn't play that in the kitchen" I am running iOS 12 beta 3.
I have a pair of Sonos One speakers that I have set up in my living room and used Trueplay for calibration. I've now added a third speaker in the same room. I set the third speaker up as a different room on the app, but then paired the two rooms together so that all three are operating together. Here's the question -- how would you go about the Trueplay calibration? Would you just now calibrate the new third speaker? Would you re-calibrate the initial pair? Also -- do you think that this was the best way to connect three speakers for the same room? Any advice on this point is welcome as well.
I just bought a beam and connected to Samsung 4K tv with smart remote. Connected hdmi arc. Sounds works. Paired volume and it works only when close to the tv. It does not work more than a couple feet away. The smart remote works with the tv no problem. I had a play base connected to this tv and all worked fine. I have tried all different configurations and reset remote several times. I have lifted the tv up, moved beam and nothing makes it better. Hopefully this is an obvious fix. - I have almost every sonos product and this is the first one that has a problem that I can’t seem to find a solution. Hopefully someone has an idea.
I have new Samsung Note 8, and I have installed the Sonos App on it to control things. The app on the phone occasionally boots up and lets me search, however whenever I try and add the content I can't select anything. I can change the search criteria, but I can't select anything that it finds. All of the apps on other devices work fine, as well as the computer applications, it is just on my Note 8. I have uninstalled, reinstalled the app, rebooted the phone, and killed the app and relaunched it, all with no change. The only way I have found to get it to work is to open the app, then let it sit for about 5-10 minutes. Any suggestions?
I have two Play:1 connected to my beam. Can I increase the volume on the speakers without increasing volume on the beam?
The Mac version of the controller is great but doesn't really try to integrate with the Mac OS UI. If I have several windows open on my laptop screen, I find it very annoying that I cannot control something as basic as the volume of a Sonos zone from the Mac menu bar. There are several other ideas I could think of to make the Sonos controller more usable for Mac users (a dashboard widget, a quicksilver plugin etc, custom keyboard shortcuts), but just a simple volume control would be a major breakthrough and probably not very difficult to implement as most controller functionality is directly accessible from the dock's contextual menu.
I'd love to be able to control Sonos while on my Mac without having to open the full app. It would be nice to have a menu bar icon available at all times that would give controls and allow you to see what's playing.
Hi all Sonosphiles - i am considering the new Beam so that i can listen to music from Spotify and also the TV - i currently have 1 play5 and x2 play1s; my TV does not have a line out so i cant connect it to the play5 - i LOVE the bassy notes i get. Will i compromise too much if i swap out the 5 for a Beam? Will the Beam plus x2 play1s be as good? I cant afford to add a sub at the moment. Thanks for your oponions.
I can't believe I'm here saying this, having had my SONOS system which has evolved over the years for 6yrs now it has worked flawlessly up until 6-months ago. SONOS was a company brand I could trust but update after botched update lead to system instability but really grinds my gears is how they have imposed the SONOS account as a requirement - with threats of disabling MY system if I don't create a password and link the SONOS account. They have removed my ability to change music service settings or (very unlikely now) my ability to add new hardware, blackmailing me into creating and linking a SONOS account to my system. I totally get registering my system for warranty purposes, that's my choice but telling me the next update will break my system if I don't create and link a password to it and then restricting/removing my ability to configure MY Sonos system is a joke. I asked repeatedly for a justification as to why they needed a SONOS account linked to my system with a pas
Hi and thanks for the help. I'm on the verge of procuring an old record console from the 60's but want to make sure I can connect it to my system. I know the unit has RCA jacks labeled "tape in" and "tape out", and no headphone jack. Like consoles of it's time, it has two speakers, a radio, and the turntable. My Sonos system consists of a Playbar and Sub, 5 in-ceiling speakers with Connect:Amps attached, and a loose play 5 that I put in the most applicable room at the time. I think my solution is a Connect (not a Connect:amp) which when attached with RCA cables to the RCA in/out jacks on the connect will allow music streaming on my Sonos system to play through the console speakers and also allow vinyl playing on the console to play through the console speakers and the rest of my Sonos speakers. Am I right? I need a plug and play solution. Just want to make sure I'm doing this right before I sink a bunch of money into this.
I have a large personal Music collection on my NAS and I notice the Android app doesn't have the same basic feature as the IOS App. In short when searching for artists or albums with the IOS app you have an index of number and letters down the right side of the screen so you can quickly jump up and down the list, where on the Android app these quick index doesn't exists. If it can be done for IOS app it shouldn't be that hard for the Android app to have the same functionality. Can I ask that this change to be made ASAP. Thanks.. Regards Peter
Please add the ability for the user to pick the amount of time for the crossfade playback feature when using Sonos.
I bought my PLAY:5 GEN 1 in 2009 and have used and loved it ever since. I added a couple of Play:1 a few years later. Anyway, as the PLAY:5 is nearly ten years old, I'm wondering if there is a trade in program and any maintenance that should be done. Again, love Sonos, no problems, just wondering what I should do to stay current. 😃
Hello there! I am a really happy user with 2 sonos one old generation As you can see in the photo my setup has one Panasonic TV and one Benq 1070 projector. My concern is what setup I should buy for movies and music to get sound from TV (everyday use) and projector (not so frequent use). I also have a hdmi matrix https://www.amazon.co.uk/Agptek-Splitter-Function-Extractor-Headphone/dp/B01LXAJ5YI/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1531469762&sr=8-5&keywords=hdmi+switch+6+input that until now was moving my video and sound from my media player with optical input to either TV or Projector. My old system was logitech z550 with optical input. I am thinking about Sonos Beam with the bass later and my 2 Sonos 1 as a surround system. What do you think? Will that solution work for me? Will the HDMI Matrix be able to transfer the sound? Maybe the playbar will be a better solution? Thank you very much and sorry for my English I hope you understand my questions.
I have 17 Sonos Connects in my rack. In my Ubiquiti UNIFI Controller I see all of the them listed. (I turned off WiFi on all of them and have them directly wired to my switch). I would like to name each Sonos Connect in my UNIFI controller with the corresponding room it goes to. Rather than going to the rack, and using the app to turn off the LED, find the Sonos Connect, fish it out to read the MAC address - then repeating that 16 more times... Can I just go into the app, select the room, and find the MAC address or IP address? Or any easier way? Thanks!
Now that AirPlay 2 is available, we're slowly going through the process of upgrading our Play:1 speakers to Ones (well, except for those being used as surrounds - because, well you know, speaker stands). Anyway, the interior of our house is predominantly white, and so most of our Sonos components are white too. The Play:1 has a white case, but a nice complementary silver speaker grille, while the One is all white, which is nice too. We have a number of Play:5 Gen 1s as well, which also have a white case and a silver grille. Eventually we'd like to upgrade those too...however, lets face it Sonos, the white ones really aren't white are they - they're black with a tiny bit of white trim, because when you look at them from the front or even slightly side on, what is most visible is that big black grille. So, as the title asks, will Sonos produce an actually WHITE Play:5 Gen 2? Or will we have to wait for the Gen 3 (Sonos Two?), which I suppose will also have a micro
Hello, I have been thinking about getting a Beam + Sub for my new appartment. Its a 40m^2 living room + kitchen, so I think the sound should be good enough for that size. However, I have heard that soundbars in general are a bit bad at playing music. If I buy two Sonos Ones, will they be able to enrich the music quality, or will the Beam define the sound picture? Note: Of course no one can answer for the Sonos Beam, but if people have experience with Playbar or Playbase, that will solve my problem Wilhelm
is songs planning to sell a battery based outdoor speaker?
how do i get rid of not available message that pops up on my samsung when pressing the volume button
So, have set up Beam in Surround mode with 2 play ones. 5.1 is turning up from internal to the TV apps such as Amazon, but only stereo from the BT TV and Xbox One. Have checked all their settings and they are correct. Same from blu-ray player. So from what I can glean: 1. The TV is telling the sources it only has 2 speakers so whatever I set the sources to send they will only send Stereo. 2. The issue around TVs not sending digital audio out that plagued the Playbar (according to the topics on here) isn't sorted by using HDMI. Tried 2 different TVs to the same effect. I would have thought Sonos would have checked this. I was expecting that given that I have lots of sources that can send 5.1 then I should be able to get it on the beam.
No happy that now I have to unlock my phone when my alarm goes off just to snooze or stop it, it’s absolute ridiculous, worst update so far ?
Hi, whats the general consensus amongst those of u who have the Sonos Beam, is the bass effective enough during action movies for example? The reason I ask is I went into my local John Lewis expecting to walk out with a Beam but the demos that was playing didn’t really impress. This is the total opposite of when I bough my Play 1’s, the sound from them blew me away. Thanks in advance.
Hi there. Im migrating to Australia end of the yr from uk. Any ideas on whether i can purchase australian power cables for my sonos setup. Thanks in advance
