Brought home two Homepods yesterday and set them up as a stereo pair in a 14 x 14 bedroom. A/B tested them against a single Play 5 in the same room using Airplay and my own library of music. There was NO contest. I like to listen to music at high volumes and even at max volume, two Homepods could not "control" the space. As a longtime Apple customer I was pretty disappointed. The reviews concerning the music quality from the Homepods have been almost unanimously positive. I found them to be nothing special. In fact, the two Homepods went right back to the store this morning and were exchanged for another Play 5. The Play 5s easily control the space and give me what I wanted all along, a full sounding, emotionally involving musical performance. Having had the Homepods for an audition with my own music in my own home I have to say that they are very much a triumph of marketing over engineering.
Hi there all, I'm an avid SONOS user, but don't have the greatest tech skills on the planet. Furthermore, I'm trying to help my in laws with their SONOS set up. They're loving it, but now I'mm trying to help them to connect their B&O Beocentre 2002 (early 1980s) to their SONOS system via CONNECT. Does anyone have any advice on how to do this? Thanks in advance!
I have a sonos beam hard wired into my ethernet in boost setup with two play 1s acting as surrounds in my bedroom. When playing music, watching movies from apple tv the sound is perfect. However when i try to watch a movie from my tv the sound cuts out half a second or so every 5/10 seconds. Its infuriating. I have tried changing the wireless channel and the audio from auto to compressed. Im in china and the internet is not great but im confused as to why it works perfecyly when streaming apple tv or spotify but not directly from the tv. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Received a Sonos Play:1. Looked into, can't use it. It's proprietary bs. Tried setting up but just get blinking amber light, factory resets, try again, try again... Don't have WiFi except for using Win 10 as a hotspot (PC hardwired to LAN)... One second my PC will 'see' it, then goes to amber, and fails to connect. In any case, I would like my account deactivated and removed from any mailing lists. And is my name attached to the device, somehow? If so, can this be removed, as well? I plan to give the device away. Also, constructive feedback, when the desktop app fails to connect, rather than making it impossible to exit the application short of killing the process via TM, maybe a exit button that actually works, or something like that, would be nice, rather than trying to force the user to continuously beat their head against a wall, with a 'Try again' button, and non functioning 'x', top right corner. Thank you.
We are trying to connect a Playbar to a Sony Bravia TV. The Playbar plays music through Pandora, etc. but will not play sound for our TV. Our TV settings show that the Playbar is successfully connected to the TV and we set the TV speakers option to Audio System but we still get no sound. Sony won't help because it isn't their soundbar. Can anyone suggest what we should do get the Playbar to play sound for the TV?
Soundbar makes loud static pop sound when watching tv. Support #976172907
Hello everyone, I am trying to connect my Sonos connect amp, playbar, and audio Technica lp120 all together and I am getting no sound at all. Record player is connected to the connect amp through RCA cables (red and white). Playbar and amp seem to be connected properly. Record player is set to line. Not sure if this is correct as this player had an amp and the connect is an amp, but I have flipped the switch both ways and nothing changes. I have also tried playing playing with the line in source level in room settings with no effect. Please help!
Hi all Background: I already have a Playbar but have now bought a Beam for my front TV room to see if this suits my needs better. The room is approx 4m x 3m and we have a set up where the wall mounted TV hangs in the corner in an alcove and we have a Sub in the same room. As we pull the TV forward in FRONT of the Playbar when watching ... some of the 45 degree angled speakers hit the back of the telly. So I thought I'd try the Beam as an alternative device - it's newer tech, smaller so side speakers have more room for separation before hitting the side window wall and thinking that the direct forward facing speakers might mean I get a better experience with the TV above pulled out in front. So far so good - working well and impressed with the output generally. But while listening to music today via Spotify, I can't help but notice the Beam sounds quite boomy with bass. I find I'm having to reduce the bass on the Sub down to -3 notches OR turn off the loudness setting on
Hi guys, am I still able to listen to TV via the TV's headphones connection only ( when deeded i.e. late at night ) when using the upcoming Sonos Beam and its HDMI ARC connection with the TV...so that the Sonos Beam with its ARC connection does not prohibit the usage of headphones with the TV ?
Need a little help please trying to get my Connect hooked up to my existing amp so I can stream from the amp through the Connect to other speakers around the house. I've set up the Connect but I can't get it to recognise a line-in signal from my amp. I have the amp REC OUT running to the Connect Analogue Audio In but when I play a CD and go to Browse > Line-In there's nothing there. I have the Connect Analogue Audio Out running to the amp AUX IN and this works perfectly. I can select this room, play Spotify and it plays thorough the speakers attached to the amp. (This suggests I have my Analogue Audio IN/OUT cables around the right way on the back of the connect) I have tried: - testing headphone out on the amp to the Connect Analogue Audio In (in case there was an issue with REC OUT signal) - no Line-In - testing headphone out on iPhone to the Connect Analogue Audio In - no Line-In - resetting and reconnecting the Connect twice. - tried different phono cables and pro
I would like to keep loudness on at low level but automatically turn it off at a higher...
Sounds like people have been getting an email describing how to obtain a voucher for each controller. Why haven't I received an email?
How many different models have there been? I see different models being sold on Ebay. I'm asking because I have a playbar and a sub. I am adding ceiling speakers that I will wire to my connect amp. Does it matter which model I get? Thanks
Resetting and losing playlists is not much fun so saving them somewhere to reimport would be a sensible addition.
Sonos systems lack any type of access control. As long as anyone has access to your home network (it could be your 8-year-old child using his/her iPod or a guest who came over), they can access your Sonos system and play the music they want. My 8-year-old daughter independently installed Sonos on her iPod and every time I am playing my favorite music, she hijacks the system and plays her teenager-style music. Once I had some guests over to my house from Italy. The guy installed Sonos on his phone and 2 minutes later my speakers were playing old-fashion Italian music. If one has an open network, you could imagine neighbors playing their own music at his house. I think that a Sonos system should be password-protected.
Looking for info concerning a Sony remote. Trying to hide the volume bar on TV. This page looked helpful, until I saw there is no option for Sony remotes. https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2083?_ga=2.134680502.618882406.1513435187-603380883.1490107190 Any help? Thank you.
Hi. Could you add AppleScript support for the Sonos Desktop Mac App? AppleScript makes it easy for users & other Mac apps to control Sonos. Most music players on Mac have AppleScript support, like iTunes, Spotify, Deezer, Rdio, VLC etc. For instance, FinelyTuned is able to control iTunes, Spotify or Rdio via AppleScript. Unfortunately, it can't control Sonos yet, due to the lack of AppleScript support. Cheers.
I have a Sonos Play One and I want to buy a Sonos One to pair them but I don’t know if they can be paired.
I currently have the Beam and two play 1's plugged via optical into my Sky Q box and it's all working great. I would also like a connection into the TV as we watch a lot of Netflix/Prime using TV apps. Is there a way to split and have multiple devices into the Beam? Being optical connected I have lost the ARC functions. Is there a way to HDMI into Sky Q box?
I have a LG 65 with Arc and a connected Sonos Beam. My problem is that LG only output audio to the headphone jack when TV Speaker with headphone is selected as a audio output source and when I select that source it jumps back to HDMI/ARC after a second or two. I have tried to turn of autoplay on TV in the Sonos app but it is still happening. I will ask this also on the LG forum but is there anyone else who has the same problem?
Feature Request: Outdoor Speaker
I have an XBMC server that serves its library of music via UPnP. When I configure my Sonos to 'Show Rhapsody UPnP Servers', my Sonos controller will see XBMC and allow me to play music from it. However, there seems to be no means to enqueue an entire album... I must enqueue each song separately. Is there an option to enqueue entire albums from a UPnP server that I've simply overlooked, or is this action unavailable in the Sonos app?
Setting up a play one seems it sets up then I go to rooms and it says unused, clicking on the unused it says to confirm player and link to my account, After clicking on link to my account its says Account update complete. when I go back to rooms it still says unused. Have done these steps numerous time even tried doing a factory reset and I get the same thing.
I just got the Beam and done some testing with Apple TV 4K. With the "normal" setup (Apple TV > HDMI > TV > HDMI ARC > Beam) everything works perfectly fine and sound quality is great. However, I wanted to use Beam with Airplay 2 from Apple TV only, and not hook up the HDMI from TV to Beam (for various reasons). With this setup things are not all that great though. It sort of works, but the volume is a lot lower than through HDMI. Maximum volume is less than half the volume with HDMI (or Spotify) input, and quality (details) also seems worse (first impressions only). The volume control on Apple TV (with on-screen display) seems to be directly linked to the volume control on the Beam, so I can control the Beam separately from the AirPlay volume. Anyone else experienced this, and have any tips on what can be done? Is it the same problem with AirPlay from Apple TV to Playbase and One as well?
