I am currently re-doing my master bathroom. I have in-ceiling/wall speakers throughout my house and now is my chance to add something into the bathroom. Has anyone put in-ceiling speakers for their Sonos inside a shower? Obviously it would have to be water/moisture proof. I was thinking about putting one speaker in the main area of the bathroom and one speaker inside the shower. But I’m open to any other feedback or suggestions. I’m trying to figure out the best move and the associated budget. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I recently picked up a Play 5 and a One, and when trying to set up the devices at home via the Sonos App on my iPhone (iPhone 😎, I constantly got the error message "Network problem; Check your internet connection and make sure your speakers are plugged in" despite being on the same network at the devices and having a relatively good signal. For the sake of troubleshooting, I grabbed my iPad (iPad Pro 2017) and was surprised to see that I was not having this issue with the Sonos app on my iPad. I was able to set up both devices normally. The situation now is that I am able to control both my Sonos devices with the App on my iPad and iPhone, but only the iPad app is able to change some settings, like room settings, or add another device, like the One. If I try to do this with the iPhone app, I again get the error "Network problem; Check your internet connection and make sure your speakers are plugged in". Playback to Sonos from third-party apps like Spotify work well from both
I have a play 3 and a bridge. I used to be able to use both., though from time to time I would see both systems getting kicked off and I would have to re-add them However for the past 2 weeka the play 3 has stopped connecting. It has a solid white light on at all times but I am unable to get it to connect to the network anymore. The Bridge is working fine. Here are all the things I have tried. 1. Connecting the play 3 directly to bridge. Nothing changes. In fact the indicator lights on the back of the bridge seem to show that the Play 3 is not using the Ethernet cable at all. I have made sure its plugged in. 2.,connecting the play 3 directly to router. Same thing. I don't have lights on my router, but I use a cable that I know works and when I plug that to Play 3 it still doesn't work. 3. Factory resetting the play 3. Holding down the play/pause button, as it boots, makes no difference. The light stays at solid white and yet I am not able to connect 4.,resett
This question is to sonos mainly but just wondered if anyone else new the answer. Yesterday I was just having a look on the sonos website as we were thinking of buying the sonos one as a present for someone for Christmas & I just happened to notice that the play 3s that I purchased a couple of years ago have been marked up as discontinued & also was therefore wondering if there is a replacement & if so what it is as when I purchased them was under the impression that the play 1 was basic although very good quality speaker the plays 3 was a better quality speaker with a better sounding bass as it contains the 3 speakers rather than the one speaker in the play 1 & then there was the play5 which obviously was for a big room as it had the 5 speakers in it. I’m just not sure whether it’s been replaced or whether there’s something in the pipeline for the future.
Hi, I'm planning a setup for my bedroom. I am either going for a 3.1 or a 5.1 setup. My main uses will be Netflix or audio through Bluetooth. I have a few basic questions based on what I'm planning to purchase - Sonos beam as my centre speaker.. Two 1s as my surround and the sub 1) do I need an amp or this will work by itself by plugging just the beam to the TV. 2) do I need any wiring? Also since my 1s will be placed on the walls in the background, do I need a power socket right there to avoid any wires been seen? 3) I'm planning to buy it in USA and get it to India where I live. Will it work on a 220v powerline without the use of any power convertor? Thanks in advance!

Buying a few speakers in the Sonos system. For a small room, where theres no room for 5.1 surround setup Would you set up Two 2 Sonos ONES, via Airplay 2 for sound from Apple TV (Netflix and Itunes rented movies mainly, DirecTV occasionally) on each side of an LG TV/Apple TV 4K, pointed at the listener? Grouping them in the app for TV sound, and use the speakers for general music when not watching TV in this room. Or, would you buy 1 Sonos BEAM for TV sound, and 1 Sonos ONE in the room dedicated to music. I kind of liked the sound of two Sonos Ones on my left and right but it might be a hassle to have to activate them via Apple TV each time? Thank you.
Hello - I have two Play 5-Gen2s, Sub, and Connect (powering outdoors speakers) all connected over wifi. One of the Play 5s lost connection and would not connect (I tried several things over the course of half a day). I figured that maybe there was something wrong with my wifi (although this set up had been working for the last 6 months or so). So I bought a boost and added that to the system. Was still unable to connect the errant Play 5 and tried to reset multiple times etc. Finally on one such attempt (pressing the connect button on the Play 5) there was a low hissing sound and the unit just died. I replaced the power cord but to no avail. I have liked the system so far and built around it but don't want to plonk down a lot of $ to replace the dead unit. I realize its out of warranty but any support available from Sonos towards a replacement given the high cost of the system? thanks!
Hi all, I've recently finished having my home refurbished and now time has turned to updating the sound... Each bathroom and hall way i've wall level cables ready for sonos ONE's. Additionally I'll add a Sonos ONE to my bedroom. So thats four Sonos ONE's required. Next though and the biggest dilemma I have is in the open plan living room. The room is 9.4m x 7m so its a pretty big space. Its also a minimalist space and I'd like as far as possible to keep it this way. I have a record player on a unit under the TV and this needs to be connected to the new Sonos system. I read the best way is to use a PLAY:5 as this will allow me to use headphones? The headphones need to be able to run wireless, so potentially I'm wrong and a connect or connect:amp would be best for this? Now i don't mind dropping the money on a PLAY:5 and adding 2 more PLAY ONES for rear surround whilst watching movies but does this work or is it only the PLAYBars that can effectively give surround? If so
Back in April, Sonos sent out its official AirPlay 2 support e-mail. I headed straight to the blog post to confirm the rumors about having to buy new speakers to get what I've wanted since I purchased my $2,000 Sonos theater sound system less than 2 years ago (PlayBar, Sub, & set of Play:1s). Alas, it was true. After contacting Sonos support, I learned I can't simply replace one of my Play:1s with a Sonos One—surround sound won't work properly—cha-ching, another $400 in less than 2 years of buying a $2000 sound system! Now, I understand the need for new hardware to support AirPlay 2, however, Sonos has missed the boat for an existing customer appreciation hardware upgrade program. As a former Product Marketing Manager for a technology company, I've dealt with with both software and hardware upgrade issues for existing customers. And, obviously, it's much less costly to upgrade software. However, since my days in Product Marketing, hardware manufacturing methods have continued to imp
We've received a feature request for a headphone line-out jack to be added to the PLAY:1, similar to the PLAY:5. This would allow headphones (or other devices connected via 3.5mm mini stereo) to output the Sonos audio from a PLAY:1. What do you think?
I would like to set up the Playbar but take advantage of older KEF subwoofer and bookshelves I have to have a complete 5.1 system. So I have been thinking of getting a Connect:AMP and connect to it the subwoofer and the 2 bookshelves. Would this Connect:AMP system work in sync and in low latency with the Playbar to complete a 5.1 experience?
Would be interested in SONOS developing a new product for wirelessly connecting TVs via the TV optical output. The device would be simplified version of the connect product that is powered by the TVs USB ports. This would allow all SONOS products to be used as output devices for the new generation smart TVs. This would be a full 5Ghz connections and not Bluetooth. I would expect that would be great consumer interest for current SONOS product owners.
Hi, can you tell me if my LG TV Model # 50-LB5900-UV is compatible with the Sonos Beam? I've been working on it for hours and the only thing it plays is the music from my phone but doesn't connect to my TV. Please let me know.
I have just bought a new tv. It has no analogue out sockets (it has a digital optical out and hdmi2) and the Connect only seems to have Analogue in sockets (because the digital optical also says it’s out). Does anyone know what sort of cable I should get as I’m desperate to get my Play1 speakers to work with new TV. Thank you
Over the past year, the quality and usability of the Sonos app for both Windows and Android platforms have seriously degraded. We routinely have failures such as "unable to add music to the queue", "cannot find your Sonos system" and the latest one is that we cannot control the volume, pause, play or any functions. Often rooms are missing from the system. I've routinely had to reboot the system to get it to function and this afternoon, even a reboot didn't work. I had to walk into all 5 rooms where we have Sonos speakers and unplug them to stop the music. Even network, device and Sonos bridge restarts didn't work. Our wireless network coverage and signal strengths are excellent. In addition to those technical difficulties, the usability of the app has taken a serious nose dive. I used to brag about how easy the system and app were to use, then with a major upgrade about a year ago, the app changed dramatically and it is awful now. I realize that there are some change managem
We have a customer with a Play:5 that keeps beeping every few minutes when it's not being used. Any ideas what this could be or how to stop it? (alarms are not in use!)
My Beam isn't showing up in the Sonos App. I'm unable to play any music. It sucks. Any ideas on what to do?
Hi, Just a heads up, I have discovered that Netflix on Sky Q does not output Dolby 5.1, only Stereo, via optical. I have a room with a Playbar with surrounds set up directly to a Sky Q Mini and noticed I was not getting 5.1 when viewing Netflix, but native Sky Programs were fine. On my Beam, connected to the Main Sky box via TV and HDMI ARC both native sky and Netflix are in 5.1 So I moved the beam to a different Mini box and it works via Arc... changed it to optical direct and no 5.1 on Netflix only native sky programs. Back to the main TV and connected it via optical and same results no 5.1 for Netflix. I have reported it to Sky, so hopefully they will fix it. I thought I should post here in case anyone is wondering what is going on.
I'm about to pull the trigger on buying a Philips 55POS9002, but want to be sure it works with my playbar and 5.1 setup. Has anyone here had any experience with this particular TV? Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't seem to find anything via search or in the megathread.
Hi. I have two sonos one in two different rooms. If i group them to different rooms they will not play in sync, but if i set them to the same room they are in sync. Why is that? They are both connected to the same wifi.
Beam is breaking up / is crunchy / there is static nois
Was very frustrated with this for a long time as well but finally figured it out through trial and error. The challenge is in the Audio output format. Not all programs recognize auto so if you change it Dolby Digital 5.1 instead of Auto Select audio, the dialogue will come through. Although it is not as good and there is a slight lag... at least there is sound. For example on apply TV. Go to Settings Audio Output. and Select Dolby Digital 5.1.
If this has been addressed then I cannot find it. I noticed whilst playing Diamond Dogs by David Bowie that the tracks were displayed and played in the incorrect track order. I then went into the app Metadatics on the Mac and checked the tags - all fine. I forced all of them to be re-written and now as seen the tracks are still in the incorrect order AND the track number isn't appearing in the controller. I changed the options in the Metadatics to write the tags in standard ID3v2.3(UTF-16). Any ideas to try to rectify would be very welcome. Let's be honest it's not a big deal as the songs play, albeit not in the order David Bowie intended, but it offends m OCD about accurate tagging!
I’m considering to install 2 Play 5 speakers on my penthouse outdoor area. It a 30 sqm covered area, and 35 sqm open area. The speakers will be protected from rain, but we experience hot and humid summers. I don’t want a Wired’s solution, and i want to operate them through my other Sonos products throughout my apartment. Is there any better solutions than Play 5 covering the above mentioned conditions.
