My home entertainment system is very limited: an ultrabook, an iphone that I use as home hotspot (I don't have other internet) and there's an old android tablet somewhere. All my music is stored on at the moment an external USB harddrive. I want to play music in my livingroom from a tiny speaker without having cables all through that room. Is this possible? I need to get a bigger harddisk, thus I could potentially get a wireless one. I want to play whole albums that are stored in the file structure Alphabeth -> band -> album. Would Sonos be a solution for that? I don't want to set up a server at home, build a tiny computer and I don't have the possibility to use anything but my mobile hotspot or have more stuff that needs electricity as I don't have many sockets and don't want to have more extension things in view. My interior design is very airy and simple. No way to hide cables and computer stuff. Thanks for thinking along.
Currently I have the Sonos amp paired with BW 685 S2, and a Def Tech Pro sub 800, which are sounding great. In terms of speaker upgrades available to me in the future, what would you consider the top/best speakers that you’d pair with the Amp before you’d have to consider a much more expensive amp or something different? What logically works with it and takes full advantage of the speaker in the top end for the Amp? I know the 685s S2 are going to be much lower on the audiophile totem pole, even though they are good speakers, there is a lot of room in the amp it seems for more as well. You can answer subjectively, or even objectively - like if a speaker pair is over a certain budget, like $2k, chances are it may outclass the amp, etc. Just curious what the ceiling is.
My TV speaker setup is a playbar and sub with two ones as surround sound. I recently starting using Youtube TV and have watched live, recorded, and on demand content with no problems. The exception to this has been every recorded Blazers basketball game I've watched, during which my two surround speakers cut in and out. It's really more that they are off and occasionally they play sound for a couple seconds. I haven't experienced this problem with any other tv audio. I'm hoping someone else has experienced something similar and may have a fix. I submitted a diagnostic report (#371038805) but couldn't figure out where to follow up on that here, so information on a better place to go for that would also be appreciated.
I have 3 x Sonos (Play:1, 3 & 5) & a Bridge and would love to get some bluetooth wireless headphones to link up to the Sonos. However, all the discussion I've seen so far is to do with a Connect. I don't have that and don't intend to purchase one at £350! I have a Bridge. Is there any way to get wireless bluetooth headphones to work to what I have?
Dear Sonos, At this moment i own a pair of Sonos One speakers which i really love and use almost daily. I want to upgrade to a 5.1 surround set. But im really afraid Sonos will release a new Subwoofer and maybe also surround speakers. Ofcourse i understand why Sonos won't publicly anounce it now but spending +/- €1600 euros now (Full set as i will keep the Ones extra) and see new products this year wont be cool.. Hence my question is, is it "safe" to spend alot of money now, while the sub is getting kinda old.. Also i think the current sub is overkill and too expensive for its function in my house. Many thanks in advance, if a Sonos employee could say it's safe or not to buy it now i would apreciate it very much! Nadian
I have sonos installed in several rooms and set alarms at different times but with the same radio station playing. There I should no option to be able to Group these staggered alarms. I wait until each alarm activates and then Group as I move around rooms. A small thing but it would be great for this to be able to be carried out automatically would be most welcome
I have had my sonos 3s for like 5+ years now and I love them. I also recently got the sub+playbar+play1 (old style) set. Those are great also. Ive always wanted play 5s, so i started looking into them online and found lots of issues of failure and wifi cards going out. Also, one year warranty for these seems too low in my opinion if they dont have a great reputation for lasting. Is this still the case? Has there been any production changes at least for the wifi cards? Amazon has 12% of the reviews at 1 star currently on the play5s. I'd like to get a pair of them, but I'm not prepared to gamble a G for speakers. Thanks!
Hi everyone, I currently have a few Sonos devices at home but still use a traditional amp with my legacy hi-fi system. The only reason I would consider the new Sonos Amp is to avoid the hassle of starting up my amp each time I want to listen music on my hi-fi system. Currently, although I could always let my amp on, I do not do it as it heats up significantly when on. Turning it on is quite painful, especially as it requires a few seconds of warm-up before I can select an input source. So here's my question: is the Sonos Amp designed to be always on? or at least, is it appropriate to have it always on? Is there a smart feature that prevents it from heating up when in standby? How does it handle speakers when in standby? Is there no current/ sound at all or can you hear an indistinctive white noise? Thanks for your help!
Hi! I have play 1s and a play 5 setup over 4 rooms. My 3 yr old keeps fiddling with my phone and starts playing music in one room or the other at odd hours. Is it possible to password protect each room individually?
There are many of us who use play 5's exclusively (or other play products) for home theatre setups. Can you include the Speech enhancement/Night Sound in a software update for everyone else?
I have been away from the forum for a while, but am still looking forward to getting a SONOS. :) I have a question about the digital output and the SONOS volume control. HOw do they interact? I plan for an outboard DAC, and I would like to connect it straight to an amplifer without any kind of preamp if I can get away with it.....is this recommended? Or does the volume control effect the digital signal adversely?
i know that it's possible to achieve this by creating a playlist with a single song in it, but this is bonkers. almost every single alarm app you can download give you the option of choosing a song you'd like to wake up to. it's the most obvious thing someone would want in an alarm app. most also include a slow increase in volume to some threshold and a repeat, so that it doesn't turn off if you don't wake up. it shouldn't include a ton of extra keystrokes if i just want an alarm to wake me up with a specific song in the morning.
Compatible with play:1?
The Sonos control app for android sucks on Android, it's horrible on Chromebooks. My set up works, for now, luckily. Many others aren't so lucky. I need 2 new speakers to fill out my home... I've been waiting to see if Sonos would get it together and fix this ongoing major gap in support. Do I have to ditch my Play 5 and get another system? Hint: All you have to do is say we will have a Chromebook app soon OR we are never going to make one. That's all!!!!!!
I’m curious if any of the members have owned “Hifi” amps and have switched over to the new Sonos Amp. How does the Sonos Amp perform? I own vintage Mcintosh amps in two setups currently. Thanks for you opionions. Sorry if this has been discussed, new member here.
Hi I would like to buy an avr hi-fi 5.1 for my livingroom, where I would connect apple tv, nvidia shield, console and pc, but at the same time, I would like to have the various speakers at home powered by my sonos amp, playing audio from apple tv, nvidia shield or pc. How should i connect all my sonos amp to avr? whereas all the HDMI port will be used by the various devices. Or do you recommend creating a 5.1 system with sonos? at the same time how would I connect the various devices to sonos beam? Thx so much at everyone for help
Why do my Sonos products constantly try to update their time EVERY single second.
Hello, In my bedroom, I have 2 Gen 2 play 5 paired, 1 Gen 1 play 5 as a stand alone, 1 play 1 in my bathroom and 1 Amp connected to 2 Nakamichi Playlink speakers with a line in from the TV. It works ok but I have two issues. This is my diagnostic number 2113532709. First issue which has been happening for some time: the volume sometimes run. As in, the volume, either when I start the system or at times in the middle of playing something, suddenly runs from where it is to almost full bar in the app, creating problems for me with my neighbours especially at 3am. At times I can literally see the volume shoots from 0 to 100 on the app volume bar and usually ends up the speakers bring ungrouped. I don’t think it’s the internet because the living room system and the kitchen, guest room and bathroom that is part of another group but using the same wifi network are still in tact. Is there a way I can control that, and is there anyway I can control the volume using other remot

In Spotify web player, albums are sorted by artist in alphabetical order. In Sonos the ordering of saved Spotify albums seems random, so you just have to scroll through everything until you find the one you want, which sucks. Seems like pretty basic functionality to me and really lame that it doesn't already exist.
I was thinking of upgrading my old surround system. I would like some nice quality and also a very minimal and "clean" setup. I was thinking about buying the new sonos amp, then a pair of the kef q350 as the front speakers and a pair of sonos ones as rear speakers. Then later on possibly a sub, was thinking of the REL T7i. But in a year or so. Would this setup be worth it or what do you audiophiles think?
A speaker was stolen from my system and I was wondering if I can find out the last time the speaker was connected to the system so I can inform the police and check my CCTV.
So I'm sitting in my living room. No music is playing, I'm home alone. Suddenly, a completely unfamiliar artist from a genre I virtually never listen to (hip-hop) starts playing with increasing volume. I quickly pull up my phone, go to my Google Wifi to see who's on the network - nothing unusual. The source in my Sonos app is Spotify, as I manage to turn down the volume and turn the music off. A look at https://www.sonos.com/myaccount/products/ reveals no new / recent additions, although I'd like the option to revoke/remove software. Any idea what could have happened? It sounds like either someone connected to my Sonos account somehow or perhaps managed to hijack my Spotify account. I have no suspicious activity in Spotify either and as mentioned, no one else was on the network at the time either. Thanks
I purchased a Sonos Play 5 (gen 1) some days ago that I am going to set up in my parents home. they do not need much so this is why I went for the gen 1, since its much cheaper. I also have a Sonos connect (ZP100) that im going to connect to their receiver and use the speakers that already is plugged into it.This setup is going to be on 2 different floors. The wireless wifi is ok. but the question is this, do I need a Sonos bridge and what difference would it do with/without?Thanks allot for answers to my little problem :D:D Moderator Edit: We no longer recommend the use of a Bridge under any circumstances - a modern router’s WiFi will serve you better.
Long time sonos user and love my 5.1 setup but yesterday my playbar blow up all the speakers went pop with sparks and cracking coming out of plug I don’t know how this has happened . I’ve had the playbar since release so out of warranty and being impatient and not been able to afford another playbar and bought the beam. I’m very impressed with the sound-stage produced by this compact bar,I don’t have a large living and if I’ve I’m honest I can’t tell a difference in sound....but part of me feels like I’m down grading from the play 😞 not sure if I should return it now and see if it possible to repair the playbar.
