i want to order a sub with the discont, so the sub is 599 dollar. Do i have to pay tax when i order it? I live in the Netherlands
I have a projector screen mounted in the middle of a room. Can I mount a Sonos Beam high up, at the ceiling of the room? Or will it sound weird, coming from up there? I also have: A Sonos sub (on the floor) 2 Sonos Play1 (about 1 meter from the floor, at the sofas corners)
The latest Sonos update now rejects controller below iOS 10. Apparently it is not possible anymore to just command a Sonos system with an iPod5 that is up to date with iOS 9.3.5 and can't go above. You have to buy a new iPoD. I use the iPoD 5 just to start / stop playing music in different rooms and setup the wake-up. The music is either on a MAC or from TuneIn radios. I do not intend to use any voice command function. Why would it be possible for Sonos to still leave a "basic" version of the controller that could run on iPods 5 below iOS10 to just perform the basic functions? Not everybody wants the new features, but just don't want to have to throw away existing and perfectly working iPods 5 only used to control the home Sonos system. This is a waste of perfectly working products. Could Sonos reconsider its position and offer a "basic" controller app for iPods that have to stay with iOS 9.x.x ? Thanks, this would save the planet from additional waste that still could perform
Hi I have Sonos one Gen 1 and I'm planning to buy thengen two. I wanna keep both of them in my room on the night stand each side and I was wondering if I airplay music from my phone can I airplay it both simultaneously or does it need to be both gen1 or gen 2. And also if I ask one of the assistants to play music does it play on both or just one ?
Hi everyone, we have newly installed outdoor speakers (with a Sonos amp and 4 Martin Logan speakers-2 rear with subwoofer and 2 front ) . We also have an outdoor tv (cosmos) that we would like to connect to the speakers. Our installers have put another Sonos connect to the back of the tv in a socket box (which is now sideways on the tv stand). It doesn’t seem right. What is the best way to connect the sound from the outdoor tv to the Sonos system? I believe we also have an additional Sonos connect for the front speakers and a Sonos amp for the rear speakers and subwoofer. And currently another Sonos connect for the outdoor tv, which is outside in a socketbox, sideways. It just seems really odd. Please help. I would ideally like to switch from tv audio to music easily and have the tv audio automatically switch on to the speakers when we turn on the tv. Currently we have to pick “line in” for the Sonos speakers, not like we do in our other tv inside with a Sonos Playbar. Can we no
Moderator Note: Google Assistant is now available for use with Sonos. Read here for more information. It's May 2019, no Google Assistant nor update from Sonos Execs on Sonos one. This feels like a failed Kickstarter project.
Sonosnet will simply not show up on my android device, I have switched it on, tried every channel - I presently have a boost connected to my router and then five products running on this boost set up. Can someone give me some advice on why I cannot see the Sonosnet please as I have very thick walls and the interference is a real pain. Thanks in advance Nick :?:?:?
I'm thinking of putting Sonos in a lake house we own but rent via VRBO. Is there a way for a guest user to use the speakers? We'd like to tell our renters they can use it, but not sure how they would.
I have assigned new IP numbers to all of my Sonos devices so that they line up prettily in my DHCP server's list. I know that was totally unnecessary but I was bored. So now my system is glitching even after all the DHCP assigned addresses have renewed. I know what is needed, rebooting my tablets running the Controller and all my Sonos devices but that is a real pain due to some of the Sonos devices locations. What I'd like to see is a "Reboot All Devices" option on the advanced settings menu so I don't have to crawl / climb around the house pulling power plugs.
Hi, could you please update your app/controller and whatever is neccessary to allowing SORTING? Is it that hard to do? The requests for this are scattered all over the Internet, sorting of whatever there is to sort, be it playlist, radio, library, and what not! I am adding new music to my library using Genre, when selecting the GENRE, I have to deal with sorting of A through Z. It is completely USELESS to not be able to sort by THE DATE A FRICKIN' ADDED THE FILES TO MY LIBRARY! or even just DATE. I can play what got ripped 10 years ago and started with an A and is ON TOP! With this useless solution as the app controller seems to be I might as well ditch SONOS and just hook up the Intel NUC to some BOSE speakers and deal with a free application than can actually manage SORTING and has been doing so for countless years! IT'S FREAKING ANNOYING!!
I thought I read that there was a web-app that I could use to control a Sonos device. I open my web-browser and click on a shortcut and I can then control my device. Is there a way to do this?
We have a Sonos system in our home and love it. However, there are two accessories that we would like to see added to the Sonos system. We would purchase in short order if they were available. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. - Outdoor speakers: Weather proof, wireless speakers that resemble granite or rocks. (Note: There are speaker solutions on the market but it is my understanding that they only support Bluetooth and can't be controlled by the Sonos app. - Wireless headphones: A set of wireless headphones that support streaming through the Sonos system that also support the features of the standard wireless headphones/headsets available on the market today. Anyone know of a solution to this issue? Thanks.
Hello, This evening I have unboxed and setup my Beam system. I have done this after reading about issues some TV's have passing through DD 5.1 signals, as a result I wanted to get some feedback and confirm my system is setup correctly and that my TV is correctly sending DD 5.1 to the Beam from other HDMI sources. My setup is that I used a Fire TV Stick connected to an HDMI port as my primary streaming device and then I have the Beam connected to the TV via an HDMI ARC connection. Freeview TV Most shows I viewed displayed in the Sonos app as "Audio In: Stereo" but one show displayed as "Audio in: Dolby Digital 5.1" Fire TV Stick With my Fire TV Stick surround sound setting set to "Best Available" the Sonos displayed as receiving "Stereo" on all content from both Amazon Prime and Netflix content. If I change that setting to "Always Dolby Digital" then content on Netflix and Prime showed as "Dolby Digital 5.1", and a show on the Fire TV IPlayer app displayed as "Dolby Dig
Hey Guys, I have SONOS:Connects and a bunch of unused in-ceiling speakers. What I really need is SONOS:AMPS. Obviously I can sell one and buy the other but I will take a big loss selling used and buying new. Is there a small third party AMP out there that when paired with a non-amp CONNECT matches or exceeds quality of the standalone SONOS:AMP? Of course price is the big factor... if too expensive I will just buy the powered SONOS box. Not looking for any features but the ability to power the speakers at same quality. I'm hoping you guys have talked about this one before and can shortcut me to a product or tell me this is a dumb question. I'd like to avoid spending the morning reading about cheap amps. 🙂
Hi all. I am configuring my new Sonos Amp, its connected to a 2.1 speakers setup in my living room, and an older (2011) Samsung TV. It plays all the regular Sonus sources just fine, but I cannot get it to play via the HDMI setup since the Samsung TV does not support ARC. While my new cable box support Dolby Digital Plus and more, the Samsung TV will only put PCM down the SPDIF (optical out) connection, and it seems the Amp requires Dolby Digital. At the moment, I have the line-out's from the TV going to the Amp's line-ins, but that is obviously analog, and it sounds like it 🙂, but it working. So how best to get digital sound, without buying a new TV with ARC support? I've been thinking of putting a splitter after the cable box (before the Samsung TV), but that would mean that the Amp is technically not getting an ARC signal, it would be getting the original HDMI signal. This would imply that I need to get an audio extractor to pull the signal off the HDMI feed, a
Why should I get Sonos over Bluesound? Never heard of them before now whilst searching the web.
I've just setup a new Playbase and all went smoothly, with just one small exception. When I change volume and use the mute key the TV shows this message "TV Volume is Fixed". My Playbase volume is adjusting correctly, and my TV speakers are setup to be off. (That is how I want it - the TV speakers are not competing with the Playbase) I searched for this message and found a number of threads, but the solutions all involve changing the Audio Out setting back from Fixed to Variable. But this is self defating because it re-enables the TV speakers ... so it's no solution. The perfect solution would be TV speakers Off, Playbase volume adjusted either by remote with synchronised sliding volume indicator coming up on the TV and no "TV volume is Fixed" message appearing. But I suspect the slider part is just not possible. The next best solution is same as the above, with no message or slider appearing on screen as volume is adjusted by remote. I believe this is possible because mid way
My wife and I just closed on my new home, and getting very excited to make our personal tweaks. Well I'm in charge of the living room AV setup, and could use some advice. The attached image shows a side view of my living room and where there are existing mounts. The angle of the picture may not show it, but the front and rear mounts are evenly spaced at roughly the same height. Note that I'm doing some minor renovation in the house and also have an electrician on hand (to install light fixtures, Tesla garage charger, and wire my alarm system), so the speaker wire vs A/C power conversation is not an issue. I posted this same question on Reddit and got a ton of flack from "enthusiasts" making some borderline laughable suggestions of: "insert a new ceiling into your open living room" or "install wall dampening panels"... um no. This is a living room, not a dedicated theater room! Having said that, I'm thinking about installing a center channel bracket under the TV mount and putting in
There should be a way to restrict access to certain zones or allow control of certain zones from a specific controller. This is very important when you have children or have guests staying to stop inadvertent or deliberate changing of zone settings.
Can the HDMI to Optical-audio adapter for Beam be used to connect the Playbar to a HDMI port?
Briefly: Already have Living Room: 2 x Play:3s in stereo (hardwired, and closest, to my router) Kitchen: Play:1 Main Bedroom: Play:1 Living Room and Kitchen are grouped. I've been thinking for a while that it would be really nice to play music from YouTube on my iPhone or MacBook Pro to my Sonos system. My current setup is too old to support this but my understanding is that I can achieve it as long as I add one of the newer speakers e.g. Sonos One. And Father's Day's coming up so it would be a shame not to! I'd realistically only want to play YT to the Living Room + Kitchen group. Firstly, am I correct? Secondly, where would you recommend putting the new speaker? I obviously don't want it as part of the stereo pair for aesthetic reasons (the Play:3s are on stands). I could add it to the Living Room somewhere else but it's a very small room so 3 speakers is probably overkill. Or would I be better relocating the Play:1 in the Kitchen somewhere else e.g. upstairs, an
Hi There, I just got a Sonos One, which allows me to hub with my old Play:3 so I can run everything of Airplay. Theoretically. I have successfully hubbed the 2 speakers, however, I don’t see where you can adjust the 2 individual volumes of the speakers in iTunes or in the Sonos app. But there must be a way since the two speakers put out vastly different volumes in vastly different rooms and that can’t be the intention. All I can do it check and uncheck speaker in the hub. Running the app on an iPad Pro. Thank you.
As the title suggests I have recently updated to v9.0 but the feature I am most looking forward too trying (playing apple music via Siri voice commands to my Sonos One) does not seem to work. I can open the apple music app on my phone, select the sonos one as a speaker to airplay2 and hit play - that now works ok. Cheers Sonos ! ? BUT The Sonos blog guide indicated that if I were to add the airplay 2 enabled sonos product (sonos One in my case) to my homekit app as an accessory this would then allow Siri voice commands via mu phone. I have followed those steps to add my sonos one but it seemingly leads to nothing - I open the home kit app, select accessory and add without code but then the speaker does not appear. I have tried pressing pairing button on the unit. Am I missing something here??
If I have two pairs of 8 ohm speakers wired in parallel, will the max power to each pair be 62.5W?
I have a soundbar and 2 play:1' s connected to my samsung tv. What i find when watching channels lije the news m is that speech only comes from the soundbar and the rear play:1's are quiet. Then the adverts come on the tv, the speech is replaced by music and the rear speakers come alive and ive got sound all around. Is the speech only from the soundbar a feature of the system or have i not got the system set up correctly? Does anyone else have this annoying feature? Thanks
